  I have a question that, I want to take our Activity screen up when a softskeyboard came, in my app on Android Phone. I have used android:windowSoftInputMode="adjustResize|adjustPan" property in Android Manifest but nothing changed, problem remains same. Please suggest me for the right solution. Thanks in advance. • USB 3.0 not functioning fully

  After installing GNU/Linux today onto my Lenovo Y570 laptop, I ran into an issue quickly - the USB 3.0 support. 2/3 of my USB ports are 3.0 so I kind of need them. The ports are powered at the very least - my phone is charging from one, however, plugging in external drives, USB drives, or even a mouse gives no response. The drives spin up, etc, but they do nothing more than that. So there is power, but no information flowing to them. What am I missing here? What can I try to enable to make things work?

  ETA: I have a similar, smaller, problem here which, I suspect, is related to this problem. I have a class which has a readonly property that holds a collection of components (* not quite, see below). At design time, it's possible to select from the components on the design surface to add to the collection. (Think imagelist, but instead of selecting one, you can select as many as you want.) As a test, I inherit from button and attach my class to it as a property. The persistence problem occurs when I add a component,to the collection, from the design surface after I have added my button to the form. It looks like the problem is occurring because MyComponent3 is created after MyButton. However, in my opinion, this should not make any difference - by the time the serializer comes to add the provider property of MyComponent3, it's already created. Note: You may wonder, why I'm not using AddRange to persist the collection. The reason for this is that if I do, the behaviour changes and none of the items will persist correctly. The designer will create local fields - like Provider1 - for each item in the collection. However if I add another collection to the class which holds the actual MyComponents and persist this, then, somehow, the AddRange method persists correctly in ProviderCollection! There seems to be some kind of quantum double slit experiment going down in code dom. How can I solve this problem?

  So I am trying to access a jquery soundmanager variable from one script (wpaudio.js – from the wp-audio plugin) inside of another (init.js – my own javascript). I am creating an alternate pause/play button higher up on the page and need to resume the current soundID, which is contained as part of a class name in the DOM. Alternately, I think a regular expression that could get the class name of the current play button and either parse the string up to the "_play" or use a trim function to get rid of "_play"– but I'm not sure how to do this.   On android platforms (confirmed on ICS), if a content provider dies while a client is in the middle of a query (i.e. has a open cursor) the framework decides to kill the client processes holding a open cursor. Here is a logcat output when i tried this with a download manager query that sleeps after doing a query. The "sleep" was to reproduce the problem. you can imagine it happening in a regular use case when the provider dies at the right/wrong time. And then do a kill of com.android.media (which hosts the downloadProvider). "Killing com.example (pid 12234) because provider com.android.providers.downloads.DownloadProvider is in dying process android.process.media" I tracked the code for this in ActivityManagerService::removeDyingProviderLocked Is this a policy decision or is the cursor access unsafe after the provider has died? It looks like the client cursor is holding a fd for an ashmem location populated by the CP. Is this the reason the clients are killed instead of throwing an exception like Binders when the server (provider) dies ?

  Hi, I'm attempting to combine a horizontally sliding panel and the ui tabs plugin. The idea is that you press a button, a panel slides open and inside is a series of tabs that expand content below. I get that this is happening because there's not a separate function hiding the expanded tab. So my question is, how can I make it so that when the button to collapse the panel (".btn-slide") is toggled it first hides any currently expanded tabs and then hides the open panel. Thanks so much!

• Opposite of nl2br? Is it str_replace?

  So the function nl2br is handy. Except in my web app, I want to do the opposite, interpret line breaks as new lines, since they will be echoed into a pre-filled form. str_replace can take <br /> and replace it with whatever I want, but if I put in \n, it echoes literally a backslash and an n. It only works if I put a literal line break in the middle of my script, and break the indentation (so there are no trailing space). Because the value will be null. • Monitor the shell activity of a user on your Unix system?

  Trust, but verify. Let's say I want to hire someone a sysadmin, and give them root access to my Unix system. I want to disable X windows for them, only allow shell usage (through SSH, maybe), so that all operations they perform will be through the shell (not mouse operations). I need a tool that will log to a remote server all commands they issue, as they issue them. So even if they install a back door and cover their tracks, that will be logged remotely. How do I disable everything but shell access? Is there a tool for instantaneously remotely logging commands as they are issued?

  I'm looking for something a little more sophisticated than the alt="Newsletter Heading text" attribute of <img> tag. So if the Masthead.png image doesn't load for whatever reason, I want the display text, say Font: 60px Helvetica Neue Black, Helvetica, ..., Sans Serif text-align: center to appear in the middle of the table cell that is my masthead instead of just the alt text in some small default font in top right corner. One idea I had was to use to put the image on-top of the text display but I don't know if z-depth is something I can use in email HTML(?4)?

  What I'm asking is conceptual rather than why my code doesn't work. I'm trying to make a web app that displays content fetched from a database in a sequence, one at a time, and then waits for a response from the user before continuing to the next one. I'm working with javascript on the client side with the JQuery library and php on the server side. In theory, there's time while waiting for the user's input to fetch information from the server using an AJAX request and have it ready for the use by the time he clicks the button, but there's also a chance that such an AJAX request hasn't completed when he clicks the button. So I need something like pseudocode: display current information fetch next data point from the server in the background onUserInput { if ( ajax request complete) { present the information fetched in this request } else if (ajax request not complete) { wait for ajax request complete present information to user } My question is this: how does one implement this " else if (ajax request not complete) { wait for ajax request complete " part. I'm currently using JQuery for my AJAX needs. I'm somewhat new to working with AJAX, and I did search around, but I didn't find anything that seemed on point. I don't know what tools I should use for this. Some kind of queue maybe? I don't need to be spoon fed. I just need to know how this is done, using what tools or if my desired outcome would be accomplished in some other way entirely. Thanks.

  I'm using evrouter to set up mouse button binds, and init.d to start it. If evrouter requires xserver to be up, how do I get init to wait until after xserver starts to run this script? If xserver restarts will this script run automatically? Running this with sudo services evrouter start still results in this error, can init.d scripts not tell where my display is? (Not exactly familiar with init, runlevels, etc)

• Vista locks up after ~10h. of activity

  Hi everybody, I am experiencing a problem: Windows Vista completely freezes/locks up lately... It happened today twice - the mouse and keyboard stopped responding and I had to re-boot. I checked the Application Events Log and I see these two errors: Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected. and then The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: SASDIFSV SASKUTIL I checked Help online and it points to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc756390%28WS.10%29.aspx and suggests Updating the drivers. I'm not sure why would I have problem with drivers and if so, how can I find out which drivers to update? Can you please help me? Thanks in advance.

However, I have the following two problems: If I try to implement a double click event for richTextBox1, I can detect when a word is clicked, however that word is highlighted (selected), which I'd like to avoid. I can deselect it programmatically by selecting the end of the text, but that causes a flicker, which I would like to avoid. What ways are there to do this? The GetCharIndexFromPosition method returns the index of the character that is closest to the cursor. This means that if the only thing my RichTextBox contains is a word starting with a # then the cursor will be a hand no matter where on the rich text control it is. How can I make it so that it is only a hand when it hovers over an actual word or character that is part of a word I'm interested in? The implemented URL detection also partially suffers from this problem. If I enable detection of URLs and only write www.test.com in the rich text editor, the cursor will be a hand as long as it is on or below the link. It will not be a hand if it's to the right of the link however. I'm fine even with this functionality if making the cursor a hand if and only if it's on the text proves to be too difficult. I'm guessing I'll have to resort to some sort of Windows API calls, but I don't really know where to start. I am using Visual Studio 2008 and I would like to implement this myself. Update: The flickering problem would be solved if I could make it so that no text is selectable through double clicking, only through dragging the mouse cursor. Is this easier to achieve? Because I don't really care if one can select text or not by double clicking in this case.

• Windows 7 USB power lose after a few seconds / minutes

  My friend's computer has a problem where the USB ports causes problems with the power of some devices connected to the computer. The USB mouse has no problems, however the Wireless Adapter looses power after around 20 seconds of use and USB Flash Drives cause the computer to either freeze, lose power (and become unresponsive) or become disconnected (still shown in Device Manager, but not in My Computer) when trying to transfer any type of file to / from the computer. I have a suspicion it's the Motherboard but could it also be a Software problem? Tried a new case, RAM, CPU and GFX Card which had no effect. The problem occurs on both the Front USB and Back (Motherboard) USB Ports. UPDATE: Tried the USB devices with an Ubuntu Live CD and they work fine, could this mean it's a problem with Windows (x64)?

• Who does non-decimal bignums with floating radix point?

  Nice as the Tcl libraries math::bignum and math::bigfloat are, the middle ground between the two needs to be addressed. Namely, bignums which are in different radices and have a radix point. At present math::bignum only handles integers (afaict) and math::bigfloat won't let you specify different radices to math::bigfloat::fromstr (ditto). Does anyone know of a library, for any of the major scripting languages (e.g. Tcl, Perl, Python, Ruby, Lua) or less major ones (newLISP for example), which implements bignums in different radices with handling for radix point?

  I'm trying to find out what data/error jquery's .load() method is returning in the following code (the #content element is blank so I assume there is some kind of error). Where do I find in Firebug what content or error .load() is returning?   Well, I've started with iPod/iPhone programming using Head First iPhone Development (O'reilly) and I'm typing code out of the book. There are two problems, one is programming related and the other is not. I don't understand the format of objective-c methods. I'm getting an few errors now, based on source code from the book. Which leads me to my next issue. Some of the code is buggy. I think so because I couldn't get the code to run without modifying it. The book has some typos in the text since it's a first edition and whatnot, but could my "fixing" the code have to do with it? So... Where can I learn more about objective-c methods and how they work in terms of structure and where the return type and arguments go? For those with the book, I'm in the middle of the InstaTweet app towards the beginning. Thanks.

  HI, I'm completely new to Bash and StackOverflow. I need to move a set of files (all contained in the same folder) to a target folder where files with the same name could already exist. In case a specific file exists, I need to rename the file before moving it, by appending for example an incremental integer to the file name. The extensions should be preserved. The file names could contain dots in the middle. Originally, I was thinking about comparing the two folders to have a list of the existing files (I did this with "comm"), but then I got a bit stuck. I think I'm just trying to do things in the most complicated possible way. Any hint to do this in the "bash way"?

• Screen gets stuck in a dim setting after waking up

  I've got a laptop that I recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. It works a lot better now for a lot of things, but there's one problem I've had happen a few times that never happened under Vista. When I put the system to sleep, then occasionally when I wake it up again, for no apparent reason, the screen's dim. Sometimes it's as if half the backlighting was turned off, and sometimes it's as if all the backlighting was turned off, all except for the mouse pointer, which remains as bright white as ever. Trying to change the screen's brightness does nothing, but rebooting fixes this. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas on what's causing it or how to make it stop happening?

  I have a split view-based app that presents a master-detail interface, and uses a popover to present the master list when in portrait mode. The popover presents a sectioned table view that ultimately gets populated by a subclass of NSFetchedResultsController. I can tap the tool bar button to present the master list, scroll to whatever row, and tap the row to dismiss the popover. My problem is that if the table is scrolled past the top of the second section, when I dismiss the popover and then later tap the toolbar button to re-present it, the table's scroll position is always set such that the first row of the second section is at the top of the list. If I haven't scrolled past the top of the second section, it correctly remembers its scroll position when the table is presented again. Similarly, in landscape mode, if I scroll the table past the top of the third section and then rotate to portrait, when I come back to landscape the scroll position is always set such that the first row of the third section is at the top of the list. I tried calling -scrollToNearestSelectedRowAtScrollPosition:animated in both the master view controller's -viewWillAppear, as well as in the split view delegate's splitViewController:popoverController:willPresentViewController:, to no effect. Anybody have a clue what I might be doing wrong?

• How to transfer Netbeans Project into Eclipse?

  I have been using Netbeans for my java desktop application since few months. Now in the middle of the project, I want to switch over to Eclipse as the Netbeans once corrupted my GUI and I had to re-create several parts of the GUI and now it is displaying a compiler error as code too large private void initComponents() { 1 error "code too large" is a strange error. My code which it is saying too large is just 10,000 lines long. I came to know first time that we couldn't develop long code in Netbeans :) So instead of going into detail, I want to switch to Eclipse. I have never used it before. So could please tell me how to import my incompleted Netbeans project into eclipse.
