• Merge Twitter Outh and Facebook Connect Friends

  Basically what I want to do is download all a users facebook and twitter friends and somehow find a way to figure out which entries represent the same person. I know it's possible because a lot of social search sites like spokeo achieve what I want and more, so does anyone know how they go about doing it or the best way to go about it? I have a basic idea of the facebook and twitter api calls I need to be making however feel free to add any advice or warnings there as well. I know facebook hashes the emails which seems like it could pose a problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

• CSS float problems, works in IE, doesn't work in Chrome/FF.. I'm probably doing something wrong

  I'm not terribly well-versed in CSS.. and don't know all of the major quirks yet. Maybe someone can help me. I've set up an image showing my code, a diagram of my DIVs, and examples of how it looks in IE versus Chrome/FF Can someone direct me to the proper way to go about this? It works fine in IE, but in Chrome and FF, one of the images is escaping its container, and the "content block" as I call it is going underneath the image it's supposed to be next to. Each of the components has a css class despite my diagram saying there's no css.. currently there's just some basic styling for those (padding, text-indent, etc). Thank you

• Java - Count words in two documents

  Good Morning - it is school assignment, I am not asking for any source code (if you can provide any pesudo code it would be awesome). Here is the problem :( I have to create a term frequency table. It is not pure TF, I just need to count the words and write down. I know basic steps to do it 1 - extract all terms (I can do it with file reader) 2 - remove repeating terms (I can do it with TreeMap) The output of 2nd step would be Niga, ponga, dinga, bitlo, etc. 3 - Now I have to see if there is any word in current file from above terms or not, if yes then I will count. Now this is my problem, I stucked on step 3 :( I have some idea how to count words with TreeMap (treemap.containskey etc.) but it would be global count not local count for each file :( Any pseudo code?

• Can I play any Buffer only once at a given time?

  From the OpenAL documentation: The basic OpenAL objects are a Listener, a Source, and a Buffer. There can be a large number of Buffers, which contain audio data. Each buffer can be attached to one or more Sources My problem is, that I have one sound file which I need to play multiple times per second, at the same time. The sound is 2 seconds long. So it will overlap. Would I need multiple filled buffers for this (= multiple times that sound in memory)? If I would attach one Buffer to multiple Sources, would I be able to play the sound 10 times, overlapping itself, with just one copy in memory? Or would I still have to deal with 10 copies of that sound in memory?

  Hello, I feel like I'm trying to do something simple but I am not getting the result I want. I want to display a basic number, that will always be positive. I do not want any leading zeros but I want thousands separators. For instance, for the following inputs, I want the following outputs: 3 -> 3 30 -> 30 300 -> 300 3000 -> 3,000 30000 -> 30,000 300000 -> 300,000 Currently, in an attempt to do this, I'm using the following formatting code: string text = "*Based on " + String.Format("{0:0,0}", total) + " entries"; Currently, the output looks like this: 3 -> 03 3000 -> 3,000 You can see how a leading "0" is added when the thousands separator is not necessary. How do I properly format my numbers? Thank you

• Wordpress php: Way to test if pages are children of a parent page?

  Hi - Working on my first Wordpress site so I'm sure this is a really basic question. I'm struggling to write a conditional php statement that performs a certain action when a page is a child of a parent page. For example, rather than just specifying one page, as below, I'd like to specify all pages that have the 'About Us' page as a parent: <?php if (is_page('About Us')) echo 'Hello World!'; ?> I've tried the "child_of" function but it wasn't as straightforward as I'd hoped. When I use the below, I get a syntax error - probably just me not knowing how to use the function: <?php if (child_of('About Us')) echo 'Hello World!'; ?> Any suggestions? Thanks!!

• Portable Socket programming in C/C++ possible?

  I am thinking of creating a multi-platform portable C++ server-client application. Is it even possible while using only standard libraries? If no, what other libraries are there? Are there any improvements in this direction in C++11x? Like for threads, now we have std::threads. To make it more clear.. I want something like boost::thread, which provides multiplatform portable multithreading, for networking. And why C++ doesn't have libraries(standard) for such basic things like networking?

I don't want to take the short path by learning how to apply algorithms "as-is" but would rather like to know the foundation and fundamentals behind them. For that I need Math, at which I'm pretty "basic". I'm considering getting tuition's for that. Scenario: I have a REST API and when i call it, it returns back response in JSON format.   I have a basic HTML page with a 2 column layout. I created a menu page on the sidebar column and when a link is chosen from the menu I want to display it in the main section of the index.html page. I tried doing this with iframes but its basically creating a duplicate of the index page. Help! • Confused on the basics of AJAX

  So right now, I'm just using a basic form to check a password. I want it to check the password and basically remain on page.html so I can use JavaScript to alert incorrect password or something.   I have a really basic stupid easy question about sql... and I'll probably get -100 points... but here it goes anyway... Is there a way using sql 2008 Management Studio to look at the queries that hit the server? I'm trying to debug a program and I get messages like "Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'AND'". Since the queries are being dynamically generated it's a hassle to figure out what is going to the server. Any help is appreciated!

  I want to add an event handler to some dynamically added elements. I simplified my problem into the basic code below. I am using the new JQuery 1.7 on feature to say "hey for all labels in the CancelSurvey id element call this notify function when they are clicked." function notify(event) { console.log(event.data.name); } $('#CancelSurvey').on('click', 'label', { name: $(this).attr("id") }, notify); I want to pass the id of the label as parameter "name". When I try to alert this it is undefined (they are defined in the html created). I believe that using the $(this) is not referencing the label selector in this case. It actually seems to be referencing the document itself. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

  I am currently trying to build a very basic serial shell with my arduino. I am able to get an output from the device using Serial.read() and can get the character it has outputted, but I cannot work out how to then add that character to a longer to form the full command.   First off, I'm sorry if this shows no code which is not what Stack Overflow is about..But I have no clue where to go on this. I have a basic CMS I made, and I am trying to distribute it. I want to make it so that upon going to /cms/install for example, they set the database info, and different info to integrate into the CMS. Now my issue is, what would be the best method to allow the user to store that database info? A cookie seems to not be the right way..Could I store database info inside of a database? Not too sure where to go on this. More or less. What is the best way to temporarily store the database information the user gave before arrival of the full CMS.

But, now I feel, Java, C# makes you lame (from learning point of view) and you can develop your apps quickly but you fail to understand the basic underlying concepts of programming. So, I am trying to learn C++, but I find it a little "confusing" due to pointer, multiple inheritance, some conventions and other concepts of C++ which don't exist in Java. • Java Scanner - next String until a | is found

  Currently I'm trying to read through some basic cells, in this format: +-------+-------+ | | | +-------+-------+ Now I need to get the string representation of the cell's contents and send it off to another method. The problem is that the cells have no pre-defined length. I'm reading these from a file, so my easiest option should be to just use the Scanner I already have set up. Problem is, I don't really know how for this case. I have a strong feeling that I need to use the pattern somehow, but I'm at a complete loss on how to do it. I could also probably just build it up somehow, but that strikes me as being painfully slow.

What I mean is: if I have base class: class Base { public: virtual void f() = 0; }; in some publications I saw that to overwrite this some authors would just say: void f(); and some would still repeat the virtual keyword before void.
