  I'm writing a very simple webpage in html5 for iPhone. the page is this one Not Working Everything works but in the page from the iPhone i see the quicktime logo with a slash on it and if i tap on it the player shows up the play button and in the background there is the quicktime logo. is it possible to replace the logos with a personal image? thank you in advance.

  Hi All, Been scratching my head for too long on this: Using jquery.form, (http://malsup.com/jquery/form) with PHP ... my $_FILES['someimage'] gets set but the error number is always UPLOAD_ERR_NO_FILE, size is also 0. The JavaScript: $('form input[type=file]').change(function(){ $(this).clone().appendTo('#imgform'); $('#imgform').ajaxForm(); $('#imgform').ajaxSubmit( { type:'POST' } ); }); Which appends to: <form id="imgform" method="POST" action="/api/images.php" enctype="multipart/form-data"></form> From another form which has bog-standard file inputs. PHP logs are clean, but var_dumping $_FILES always shows that the index is set to the name of the form element ... but no data. Thanks guys! • Recommendations on Triming Large Amounts of Text from a DOM Object

  I'm doing some in browser editing, and I have some content that's on the order of around 20k characters long in a <pre>. So it looks something like: <pre> Text 1 Text 2 Text 3 Text 4 [...] Text 20,000 </pre> I'd like to use jquery to trim it down when someone hits a button to chop, but I'm having trouble doing it without overloading the browser. Assume I know that the character numbers are at 16,510 - 17,888, and what I'd like to do is trim it. I was using: jQuery('#textsection').html(jQuery('textarea').html().substr(range.start)); But browsers seem to enjoy crashing when I do this. Alternatives?

• Can I void all JavaScript calls to $

  I need some scripts inside an existing site's scripts.js. This site has been online for ages, and I can not touch the scripts file. I am including it standardly in another page. There are numerous jQuery calls in the scripts file. The place I include it does not have jQuery. I want to void all $() type things. I tried this... $ = function() { }; before I included scripts.js and it didn't seem to work. I am still getting errors like $(document) is undefined Is there a way to void all these jQuery calls? • HTML5 offline video caching in mobile safari

  Sorry if this gets posted twice, but Safari crashed while posting the first version, and I don't see it in my profile. Anyway I can't seem to get Safari on the iPhone or iPad to offline cache videos. Everything else gets cached just fine when I go offline. The video file is obviously in the manifest, but I just get the broken arrow. Works fine in Safari desktop. Any clues? I've tried both object embed and the video tags.

• Devise / Rails 4 Windows mobile authentication failure

  Im using devise with a rails 4 application. Authentication works fine on most devices, including some old feature phones. I am however running into problems with the Nokia Lumia. • Can't correctly stream x264 video to mobile via RTSP

  Hello! I'm trying to stream video compressed with x264 and NeroAAC and hinted with MP4Box. When i'm playing it with VLC player streaming works fine, as expected. When i'm trying to open URL with my HTC Hero, it switches to player mode, then starts "loading video" animation, then after some time it shows "unable to connect to server". Sample movies provided with DSS streamed fine regardless bitrate. I tried few encoding options, but always the same result. I suspect nocabac and level=11 but it didn't changed nothing. Is there some more specific encoding options for such type? Thank You!

  I am trying to implement a server-client connection over the spp. After initializing the server, I start a thread that first listens for clients and then receives data from them. What's troubling me is how would the thread eventually die when a device goes out of range? Firstly, the call to receive.read(buffer) blocks so that the thread waits until it receives any data. If the device goes out of range, it would never proceed onward to check if meanwhile it has been interrupted. Secondly, it would never close the connection, i.e. the server would not accept the device once it goes back in range. Thanks! Any ideas would be highly appreciated! Merry Christmas!

  I'm attempting to improve the usability of a client's SharePoint deployment via JQuery; and am hitting a brick wall when trying to find any sort of documentation of what's happening in core.js (aside from painfully digging through and trying to parse any sort of meaning out of it --all 250kb of it!!!!--) Anyone have any pointers, or documentation? EDIT: Sorry, to clarify my question, i'm familiar with using JQuery with SharePoint. My question involves hooking JQuery into SharePoint's own client API. My question is inspired by this post http://www.codefornuts.com/2009/09/forcing-sharepoint-into-asynchronous.html# ; where the author is overriding methods such as "SubmitFormPost" and "STSNavigate" in order to make the UI interaction more "AJAXy".

• JCarousellite not working in IE8

  I have a user who's having issues running the JCarousellite plug-in in IE8. Not just on my own site, but also on the jcarousellite homepage (http://www.gmarwaha.com/jquery/jcarousellite/) It runs fine on my own machine and all his IE Security settings/levels are the same as my own (Secruity is at "Medium-High" and Privacy at "Medium"). JQuery also seems to be working for him as other aspects controlled by jquery on the site are functioning correctly. I use Firefox normally, so am not aware of every feature IE8 offers, but am thinking he has some setting/option set incorrectly. Anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions for settings I could look at changing? Thanks

• How to use CSS to ensure items remain offscreen even if window is resized?

  I am trying to implement a type of slider using jquery. However this question is about the CSS involved in trying to achieve the functionality. My site design occupies a central column of width 960px. Within this layout there is a central element, that I wish to slide right, on click of a "next" button, and at the same time, another element of the same class slides in from the left to occupy the space vacated. I have drawn a diagram of what I am trying to achieve. In this diagram the red blocks are the element I want to slide in and out, it is grouped by a div which moves left to produce the effect using jQuery I have 2 main questions: How do I get the correct margin values, given that the browser window width can vary and that all elements that are not the current item should be offscreen? 2.If the user were to resize the margins could be dynamically altered based on the values returned using the jQuery resize() event. Or is there a neater quicker better way of doing it using pure CSS?

  I'm using backbone for a reasonably complicated form. • Why does $('#id') return true if id doesn't exist?

  I always wondered why jQuery returns true if I'm trying to find elements by id selector that doesnt exist in the DOM structure. Like this: <div id="one">one</div> <script> console.log( !!$('#one') ) // prints true console.log( !!$('#two') ) // is also true! (empty jQuery object) console.log( !!document.getElementById('two') ) // prints false </script> I know I can use !!$('#two').length since length === 0 if the object is empty, but it seems logical to me that a selector would return the element if found, otherwise null (like the native document.getElementById does). F.ex, this logic can't be done in jQuery: var div = $('#two') || $('<div id="two"></div>'); Wouldnt it be more logical if the ID selector returned null if not found? anyone?

• JQuery AJAX returned too much data that I had not requested

  Hi all, I am using CakePHP 1.26 and CDN JQuery in this URL: http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js In a HTML web page, I have these lines of code: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://mywebsite.com/controllers/avail/"+curl, success: function(data) { alert(data);} }); and in the PHP page, I got another few lines of code: function avail($uname){ $result1=$this->Site1->User->findByusername($uname); if($result1){ return 1; } else{ return 0; } } As you see, the Avail function will return either zero or one.   Hey. Am new to the world of web programming and learning a bunch of fairly simple new pieces of tech, trying to piece them all together. So, we have a simple client (currently iPhone, to move to J2ME soon) that's pulling down lists of data via PHP, which is talking to a MySQL db. I have a rudimentary user/login system so that data is only served to someone who matches a known user etc, either on the website or on the client. All the php scripts on the website that query the DB check to make sure an active session is in place, otherwise dumping the user back to the login screen. I've read a little about SSL and want to know if that is sufficient to protect the website AND the data passing between the server and the client?
