    tl;dr: How does one implement MVC in JavaScript in a clean way? I'm trying to implement MVC in JavaScript. I have googled and reorganized with my code countless times but have not found a suitable solution. (The code just doesn't "feel right".) Here's how I'm going about it right now. It's incredibly complicated and is a pain to work with (but still better than the pile of code I had before). It has ugly workarounds that sort of defeat the purpose of MVC. But when i execute the code in IE, it alerts : "Out of memory at line 18". I'm stuck here from yesterday. i'll post the mxml and html here..   • Dereferencing within a buffer

    Let's say I had a char pointer pointing to a buffer that contained these values (in hex): 12 34 56 78 00 00 80 00 I want to modify the last two bytes to a short value of 42. So I would think I would have to do something like this: (short)*(pointer+6)=42; The compiler doesn't complain but it does not do what I'm expecting it to do. Can someone tell me the correct way to assign the value?

    Is there a way to handle the dynamic change of a dropdown for a single row in a grid-based datawindow? Example: NAME LIKABILITY PURCHASED IN COLOUR (Text) (DropDown*) (Text) (Text) Bananas [Good] Hands Yellow [Bad] [Bananas are good] Apples [Good] Bags Red [Bad] Given the above is a grid-based datawindow, where the fields 'NAME','PURCHASED IN' and 'COLOUR' are text fields, where as the 'LIKABILITY' field is a dropdown*. I say dropdown* because the same visual representation can be created by using a DropDownList (hardcoded within the datawindow element at design time), or a DropDownDW (or DDDW, a select statement that can be based on other elements in the datawindow). However, there is no way I can get 'Bananas' having it's 3 dropdowns, while Apples has only 2. If I enter multiple rows of 'Bananas', then all rows have 3 dropdowns, but as soon as I add an Apples row, all dropdowns revert to 2 selections. To attempt to achieve this functionality, I have tried the following options: -- 1) dw_1.Object.likability.values("Good~tG/Bad~tB/Bananas are good~tDRWHO") on ue_itemchange when editing NAME. FAILS: edits all instances of LIKABILITY instead of the current row. -- 2) Duplicate Dropdowns, having one filtered, one unfiltered selection list per row, visible based on NAME selection. FAILS: can't set visibility/overlapping columns on grid-based datawindow. (Source) -- 3) Hard-code display value as Database value, or Vice Versa. Have 'GOOD','BAD','BANANASAREGOOD' as the display and database values, and change handling of options from G, B, DRWHO to these new values. FAILS: 3rd option appears for all rows, still selectable on Apple rows, which is wrong. -- 4) DDDW retrieve list of options for dropdown. Create a DDDW that uses the value of NAME to determine what selections it should have for the dropdown. FAILS: edits all instances of the dropdown, not just the current row. -- 5) DDDW retrieve counter of options available (if B then 3 else 2), then have duplicate dropdown columns that protect/unprotect based on DDDW counter. FAILS: Can't autoselect dddw value to populate column to cause protect on other two columns, ugly solution in any case. -- There is now a bounty on this question for anyone who can give me a solution that will enable me to edit a dropdown column for a single row on a grid-based datawindow in PB 10.5

  • jQuery ajaxSubmit ignored by IE8

    Hi there, I am combing the jQuery validation plug-in with the jQuery Form Plugin to submit the form via AJAX. This works perfectly in Firefox & Chrome, but (as usual) Internet Explorer is being a pain. For reasons that are alluding me, IE is ignoring the ajaxSubmit, as a result it submits the form in the normal fashion.   • Is there a compelling reason to use quantifiers in Perl regular expressions instead of just repeatin

    I was performing a code review for a colleague and he had a regular expression that looked like this: if ($value =~ /^\d\d\d\d$/) { #do stuff } I told him he should change it to: if ($value =~ /^\d{4}$/) { #do stuff } To which he replied that he preferred the first for readability (I find the second more readable, but that's a religious debate I'll save for another day). My question: is there an actual benefit to one over the other?

This number can change from time to time. What i Need is to grab the "Variant"-tag with the right number. In the above case I need to get the value from the "Variant5"-tag (93.9). Tomorrow the "OverRepresentedVariant"-value might have changed to 3, this would mean that I should now grab the "Variant3"-value instead. So this is what I got. I have a variable called $btOver which contains the above XML. I also have a variable called $btId which contains the "OverRepresentedVariant"-value like this: <xsl:variable name="btId" select="$btOver/OverRepresentedVariant" /> So now I need some help finding the Variant-tags with the right ID. I am adding the summing the each cell value in the last column of the grid and displaying that value in a textbox at the bottom of the DataGridView. I would like this textbox to stay lined up with the cell values (I have made them right aligned since it is $$ values) even after the scroll bar is present.

    I am trying to "uncenter" the map view and remove all annotations. the reason for this is that the mapView will be used by different view controllers to display different annotations and locations. What's happening now is that i am using the "remove annotations" method and i removes them, but the map stays centered on the spot and thus when the new annotations come in, it does not move. Is there a way to reset the region and if so, what value do i reset it to. The problem i have with that part is that when i go back to the previous View Controller i remove all annotations, so when i come back in the User location (for some reason) does not pop back in.
