    Az Exalogic kapcsán, ha már valaki hallott róla, akkor leginkább a teljesítmény ugrik be. Mint normálisan majdnem minden szerver megoldás új verziójánál. Nos ez nyilvánvalóan nincs másképp itt sem, amire büszkék is lehetünk. Ugyanakkor nagyon fontos tulajdonsága az Exalogicnak, hogy szinte azonnal hadrafogható. Ez persze már részben elérheto, mivel képesek vagyunk kész virtuális gépeket letölteni komplett telepítéssel. Persze ott még a vasra külön fel kell húzni a virtualizációs szoftvert. Na és itt jönnek a problémák. Bárki aki már látott, csinált, vagy végig nézte egy rendszerhez szükséges infrastruktúra felhúzását az tudja mirol beszélek. A telepítés, megfelelo verziók, szükséges patch-ek, hálózati eszközök bekötése. Aztán mindennek a konfigurálása. A legjobb esetben is napok, de inkább hetek kérdése mire üzemkész lenne. Az Exalogic esetében ez más, hiszen gyárilag összereszelték, a konfiguráció kialakítása gyakorlatilag néhány paraméter file és kész. De lássuk is, hogy mennyi ido onnan, hogy kibontottuk a dobozból. Mindössze egy nap. A hab a tortán pedig a full stack upgrade. Nem külön minden egyes komponenst. Firmware-tol a WebLogic szerverig.

  • Tegnap délutáni Guru Partin a Proaktív Támogatásról beszéltünk

    Gyorsan közeleg a karácsony, hagyományosan ilyenkor tartja Oracle Guru partiját az Oracle University. Idén elso ízben az Oracle Support is tartott eloadást, melynek témája a Proaktív Támogatás volt. Az eloadás elején rövid kis felmérést végeztünk arról, hogy az Oracle által kínált proaktív támogató eszközöket mennyire ismeri, illetve mennyire használja a hallgatóság.  A felmérésbol kiderült, hogy a támogatást igénybe vevok több proaktív eszközt is ismernek, egy részüket használják is. Azonban az is látható a válaszokból, hogy vannak olyan területei a támogatásnak, melyeket nem ismernek az Ügyfelek, vagy ismerik, de nem használják ki Support nyújtotta összes lehetoséget.   • Daten versionieren mit Oracle Database Workspace Manager

    Wie können extrem lange Transaktionen durchgeführt werden, also Transaktionen, die Datensätze über Stunden oder Tage exklusiv sperren, ohne dass diese langen Transaktionen 'normale' Transaktionen auf diesen Datensätzen behindern? Solche langen Transakionen sind zum Beispiel im Spatial Umfeld keine Seltenheit. Wie können unterschiedliche historische Zustände von Produktionsdaten online zeitlich unbegrenzt vorgehalten werden? Die UNDO Daten, die das gesamte Änderungsvolumen einer Datenbank vorhalten, gewährleisten in der Regel nur einen zeitlich sehr limitierten Zugriff auf 'ältere' Daten. Und die Technologie der database archives, auch bekannt unter dem Namen Total Recall, erlaubt einerseits keine Änderungen an den älteren Daten und steht andererseits ausschließlich in der Enterprise Edition der Datenbank zur Verfügung. Wie kann man die aktuellsten Produktionsdaten für WHAT-IF-Analysen verändern und währenddessen andere Benutzer ungestört auf den Originaldaten weiterarbeiten lassen? Ein SET TRANSACTION READ ONLY erlaubt keinerlei Änderungen und ist ebenfalls begrenzt auf die 'Reichweite' der UNDO Informationen. Zwar könnte man für derartige Analysen eine Datenbankkopie aus dem Backup aufbauen oder eine Standby Lösung implementieren, aber das ist doch eher aufwändig. Es gibt eine verblüffend einfache Antwort auf diese scheinbar komplizierten Fragen. Sie heisst Oracle Database Workspace Manager oder kurz Workspace Manager (WM). Der WM ist ein Feature der Datenbank seit Oracle9i, das sowohl in der Standard als auch in der Enterprise Edition zur Verfügung steht. Anders als in den ersten Versionen ist er längst auch Bestandteil jeder Installation. Um so erstaunlicher ist es, dass so wenige Kunden ihn kennen. Dieser Tipp soll dazu beitragen, das zu ändern.

    Vom 20. bis 22. November findet in Nürnberg wieder die DOAG 2012 statt, die jährliche Konferenz der Deutschen Oracle Anwendergruppe e.V. - mithin die größte Veranstaltung rund um Oracle in Europa. Seit zwei Jahren ist dort auch Solaris ein Kernthema.Während in den ersten beiden Jahren Sprecher von Oracle den überwiegenden Teil der Vorträge zu Solaris gehalten haben, ist der Grundgedanke der Konferenz - und sicher ein wesentlicher Grund für viele der über 2000 Teilnehmer nach Nürnberg zu kommen - der Austausch von Erfahrungen zwischen Anwendern ergänzt durch Beiträge seitens Oracle. Dazu bedarf es natürlich der Anwender, die über ihre Erfahrungen berichten Der Call for Presentations ist gerade erschienen und offen bis zum 30. Juni. Man kann sich also in aller Ruhe Gedanken über mögliche Themen machen und vielleicht während eines Projektes die eine oder andere Notiz machen, um dann bei der Konferenz über Erfahrungen zu berichten. Solaris ist Teil des sogenannten Streams Infrastruktur und auf der Seite dazu findet sich vielleicht auch noch die eine oder andere Anregung für mögliche Themen. Erfahrungen rund um Solaris 11 sind sicher ein dankbares Themenfeld. Ein Vorteil für Referenten besteht im freien Eintritt zur gesamten Veranstaltung. Für Consultants und Partner mag es auch eine Motivation sein, im eigenen Spezialgebiet Kompetenz zu zeigen und sichtbar zu werden. Und wer keinen Vortrag einreichten will, mag sich vielleicht als Konferenzbesucher schon mal den Termin notieren: 20. bis 22. November 2012 in Nürnberg - man sieht sich

  • ALPS touchpad stops working after reboot

    I recently upgraded to 12.04 LTS. My Compaq Presario CQ-40 324la touchpad worked after first restarting after installation. But after restarting a second time, the touchpad is completely disabled, without having changed anything in the system. I've tried solutions but haven't had good results. The applications I've installed (fro "solutions" are: Pointing Devices Synaptiks Dconf-Tools I've also tried updating GRUB, adding this line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i8042.nomux") I tried these commands in a terminal. Neither has worked. sudo modprobe -r psmouse sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps El Touchpad ALPS se desactiva al reiniciar Recién he actualizado a Ubuntu 12.04LTS y a mi parecer ha mejorado mucho con respecto a 11.10... Pero ese no es mi punto ahora. El Touchpad funcionó correctamente luego del primer reinicio después de la instalación. Pero luego de volver a reiniciar, el Touchpad queda totalmente deshabilitado sin haber hecho cambio alguno en el sistema. He probado las soluciones en su mayoría y no he tenido buenos resultados. Las aplicaciones que he instalado (de las "soluciones") son: -Dispositivos apuntadores. -Synaptiks -DConf-Tools Y he intentado también actualizando el grub (añadiéndole una linea así: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i8042.nomux") Intenté en la terminal con el comando: sudo modprobe -r psmouse sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps Ninguno me ha resultado bien.   • Location-Based redirection and duplication in sub-directories affecting SEO

    I currently own the website www.xyz.com. The website has a sub-directory for each of the 3 target countries: .../en-US/ (United States), .../es-MX/ (Mexico), and .../es-DO/ (Dominican Republic). I have two main questions about this setup: Currently, the main domain/root (xyz.com) contains a blank index.php file, but I would like for a user to be redirected to one of the sub-directories based on their regional location. What is the best way to accomplish this? I have looked at using browser language-based redirection, but how would I know whether to direct a user to the MX or DO site if the browser language is set to spanish? Is there a way to detect a user's geographic location? Also, the 3 websites are practically identical except they all have 3 unique color schemes and the US site is in english while the MX and DO sites are in spanish. My problem is that I believe GoogleBot is penalizing/banning my site because the spanish text on the MX and DO pages are nearly identical and are thus marked as duplicates/spam. Is there a way to avoid this?

    Hi, I have a model which includes NODES, and RELATIONSHIPS (that tie the nodes together, via a parent_node, child_node arrangement). Q1 - Is there any way in EF / Linq-to-entities to perform a query on nodes (e.g. context.Nodes..) to find say "all parents" or "or children" in the graph? Q2 - If there's not in Linq-to-entities, is there any other way to do this other than writing a method that manually goes through and doing it? Q3 - If manual is the only way to do it, should I be concerned about the number of database hits that will be going out to the database as the method keeps recursing through the data? Or more specifically, is there any EF caching type feature that might assist here in ensuring the method is performance from a "number of database hits" point of view? thanks thanks

  • Entity Framework - SaveChanges with GUID as EntityKey

    I have a SQL Server 2008 database table that uses uniqueidentifier as a primary key. On inserts, the key is generated on the database side using the newid() function. This works fine with ADO.NET. But when I set up this table as an entity in an Entity Framework 4 model, there's a problem. I am able to query the entity just fine, but when creating a new entity and invoking SaveChanges() on the context, the generated uniqueidentifier on the database is all zeros. I understand there was an issue with EF v1 where this scenario did not work, requiring creating the GUID on the client prior to calling SaveChanges. However, I had read in many places that they were planning to fix this in EF 4. My question -- is this scenario (DB-side generation of uniqueidentifier) still not supported in EF4? Are we still stuck with generating the GUID on the client?

  • Nhibernate equivalent of LinqToEntitiesDomainService in RIA

    Hi, When using Entity Framework with RIA domain services, domain services are inherited from LinqToEntitiesDomainService, which, I suppose, allows you to make linq queries on a low level (client-side) which propagate into ORM; meaning that all queries are performed on the database and only relevant results are retrieved to the server and thus the client. Example: var query = context.GetCustomersQuery().Where(x => x.Age > 50); Right now we have a domain service which inherits from DomainService, and retrieves data through NHibernate session as in: virtual public IQueryable<Customer> GetCustomers() { return sessionManager.Session.Linq<Customer>(); } The problem with this approach is that it's impossible to make specific queries without retrieving entire tables to the server (or client) and filtering them there. Is there a way to make linq querying work with NHibernate over RIA like it works with EF? If not, we're willing to switch to EF because of this, because performance impact would be just too severe.   • Map a column to be IDENTITY in db with EF4 Code-Only

    Although I have marked my ID column with .Identity(), the generated database schema doesn't have IDENTITY set to true, which gives me problems when I'm adding records. If I manually edit the database schema (in SQL Management Studio) to have the Id column marked IDENTITY, everything works as I want it - I just can't make EF do that by itself. This is my complete mapping: public class EntryConfiguration : EntityConfiguration<Entry> { public EntryConfiguration() { Property(e => e.Id).IsIdentity(); Property(e => e.Amount); Property(e => e.Description).IsRequired(); Property(e => e.TransactionDate); Relationship(e => (ICollection<Tag>)e.Tags).FromProperty(t => t.Entries); } } As I'm using EF to build and re-build the database for integration testing, I really need this to be done automatically...

  • Entity Framework Custom T4 Template

    Hello, I am using the Entity Framework 4.0 and I am trying to extend my POCO classes generated by the standart T4 template with some custom properties. The classes which are generated by default from EF (without T4) contain 2 properties for every navigation property - NavigationPropertyId and navigationPropertyReference. What I am trying to do is basically extend the generated POCO class with an "Id" property of the foreign key object. I know that I can do that by editing the POCO t4 template. However I have no idea how I can populate/persist the property - I guess I have to somehow extend/modify the method than converts the object to a sql query and vice versa, but I have no idea where to start. Can anyone help? Edit: I just found out, that the EF team has planned to implement something like this - http://blogs.msdn.com/efdesign/archive/2010/03/10/poco-template-code-generation-options.aspx (see Basic POCO with/without Fixup), however this can take ages, so I rather implement it myself.

    I have a file named cmd that contains a list of unix commands as follows: hostname pwd ls /tmp cat /etc/hostname ls -la ps -ef | grep java cat cmd I have another script that executes the commands in cmd as: IFS=$'\n' clear for cmds in `cat cmd` do if [ $cmds ] ; then $cmds; echo "****************************"; fi done The problem is that commands in cmd without spaces run fine, but those with spaces are not correctly interpreted by the script.     I'm sure I must be doing something wrong. But can't for the life of me figure out what is going on. I have a problem where it seems that the HttpWebRequest class in the framework is not correctly parsing the cookies from a web response.   • Entity Framework Performance Inconsistency Compared to Sql Management Studio

    I'm getting timeouts with a very basic EF statement. I'm simply doing a select from a single table with a Entity.Title.StartsWith("test") and a .Take(25). When I run this for a search that returns no results I get a timeout. If I profile and grab the sql statement it looks fine, and if I run that sql in Management Studio it runs in a fraction of a second! Why would the same query run sub-second in Management Studio and timeout when generated by EF and called from an Asp.Net app?

    I want to execute a query like this var result = from entry in table where entry.something == null select entry; and get an IS NULL generated. Edited: After the first two answers i feel the need to clarify that I'm using Entity Framework and not Linq to SQL. The object.Equals() method does not seem to work in EF. Edit no.2: The above query works as intended. It correctly generates IS NULL. My production code however was var value = null; var result = from entry in table where entry.something == value select entry; and the generated SQL was something = @p; @p = NULL. It seems that EF correctly translates the constant expression but if a variable is involved it treats it just like a normal comparison. Makes sense actually. I'll close this question

    Hi all, I have a scenario where I need to localized values of objects in my database. Let's say you have an application that can create animals, if the user is english the value of the "Name" property of an animal would be entered as "Cat" in the UI whereas it would be entered as "Chat" in french. The animal culture table would contain 2 records pointing to the same animal in the parent table. When reading values back, if the value of "Name" does not exist in the user culture the default value (value the object was originally created with) would be used. The following diagrams demonstrate how the data is stored in SQL: I'm trying to map this schema to an object model using the Entity Framework, I'm a bit confused as to what the best way to approach the problem. ID | Key | Value ================ 1 | 1 | ab 1 | 2 | cd 1 | 3 | ef 2 | 1 | gh 2 | 2 | ij 2 | 3 | kl Now I want to select the value of Keys 1 & 3 for all IDs, the return should be like this ID | 1 | 2 ================ 1 | ab | ef 2 | gh | kl So per ID 1 row containing the Values for Keys 1 & 3. I tried using 'join' but since I need to use multiple where clauses I can't figure out how to get this to work ..

    I'm currently developing an app which will use a Linq to SQL (or possibly EF) data access layer. We already have a database which holds all our Contacts information, but there is currently no API around this. I need to interact with this DB from the new app to retrieve contact details. I can think of two ways I could do this - 1) Develop a suite of web services against the contacts database 2) Write a Linq to SQL (or EF) DAL and API against the contacts database I will probably be developing several further apps in the future which will also need access to the Contacts data. Which would generally be the prefered method? What are the points I need to consider? Am I even asking a sensible question, or am I missing something obvious?

    Hi Im facing a probem with the car and cdr functions for example: first I defined a list caled it x (define x (a (bc) d ( (ef) g ) )) so x now is equal to (a (bc) d ( (ef) g ) now for example I need to get the g from this list using only car and cdr (!! noshortcuts as caddr cddr !!) the correct answer is: (car(cdr(car(cdr(cdr(cdr x)))))) BUT how ? :-( I work according to the rule (the car gives the head of list and cdr gives the tail) and instead of getting the answer above I keep reaching wronge answers can any one help me in understanding this ... give me step or a way to solve it step by step thanx in advance Im really sick of scheme language.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - 99% fragmentation on non-clustered, non-unique index

    I have a table with several indexes (defined below). One of the indexes (IX_external_guid_3) has 99% fragmentation regardless of rebuilding/reorganizing the index. Anyone have any idea as to what might cause this, or the best way to fix it? We are using Entity Framework 4.0 to query this, the EF queries on the other indexed fields about 10x faster on average then the external_guid_3 field, however an ADO.Net query is roughly the same speed on both (though 2x slower than the EF Query to indexed fields). Apr 9 12:53:26 skip [2244]: [2244] ab-cd-ef:cc [INFO] A recoverable error has occurred now the LATEST line would have to be one with the latest Date String, and THAT is the one that needs to be printed, plus the NEXT time the parser runs on the log file, somehow the previous LATEST line has to be compared with the Existing latest one, and it CAN e the case, that NOTHING Changed and the OLD line is STILL the latest one, OR there is a NEW line, but ONLY the NEW log line should be printed and NOT if there is NO NEW log Entry.
