• Counting multiple entries in a MySQL database?

  Hi all, I'm trying to count multiple entries in a MySQL database, I know how to use COUNT(), but the exact syntax I want to get the results I need eludes me. The problem: Table structure: ID, CODE, AUTHOR, COUNTRY, TIMESTAMP. Code, Author and Country overlap many times in the table. I am trying to discover if there is one simple query that can be ran to return (using WHERE clause on COUNTRY) the author field, the code field, and then a final field that counts the number of times the CODE was present in the query result. So, theoretically I could end up with an array like: array('author', 'code', 'codeAppearsNTimes'); Authors also have varying codes associated with them, so I don't want the results merged. I suppose the end result would be: 'This author is associated with this code this many times'. Is this possible with MySQL? Thanks in advance.

• How can I set the line style of a specific cell in a QTableView?

  I am working with a QT GUI. I am implementing a simple hex edit control using a QTableView. My initial idea is to use a table with seventeen columns. Each row of the table will have 16 hex bytes and then an ASCII representation of that data in the seventeenth column. Ideally, I would like to edit/set the style of the seventeenth column to have no lines on the top and bottom of each cell to give the text a free flowing appearance. What is the best way to approach this using the QTableView?

• Mysql eliminate user based on conditions

  I asked this last week over the weekend and it got buried in the archives before anyone could answer. So forgive me if you've already seen this. I teach classes and want to be able to select those students who have taken one class, but not another class. I have two tables: lessons_slots which is the table for every class such as: -------------------- -ID name slots- -1 basics 10 - -2 advanced 10 - -3 basics 10 - --------------------- The other table is class_roll, which holds enrollment info, such as: -------------------- -sID classid firstname lastname- -1 1 Jo Schmo -2 1 Person Two ... -13 2 Jo Schmo --------------------- What I want to do, I select everyone who has not had the advanced class (for example). I've tried doing SELECT * FROM lessons_slots LEFT JOIN class_roll ON lessons_slots.ID = class_roll.classid WHERE lessons_slots.name != 'advanced' But that doesn't work...All it does is eliminate that row, without eliminating the user. I want Jo Schmo, for example, to not show up in the results. Any ideas?

  I need to cache a large (but variable) number of smallish (1 kilobyte to 10 megabytes) files in memory, for a C application (in a *nix environment). Since I don't want to eat all my memory, I'd like to set hard memory limit (say, 64 megabytes) and push files into a hash table with the file name as the key and dispose of the entries with the least use. What I believe I need is an LRU cache. Really, I'd rather not roll my own so if someone knows where I can find a workable library, please point the way? Failing that, can someone provide a simple example of an LRU cache in C? Related posts indicated that a hash table with a doubly-linked list, but I'm not even clear on how a doubly-linked list keeps LRU. Side note: I realize this is almost exactly the function of memcache, but it's not an option for me. I also took a look at the source hoping to enlighten myself on LRU caching, with no success.

  Hi guys, I was just curious as to what the rule of thumb was for models. Generally, I use them only for situations where I need to add/edit or update database entries for an object. However, I'm building an app at the moment that has a "config" table which holds various data, such as last updated, which will control when certain features in the app should be displayed. In this instance, I will mostly need to retrieve data from the config table. Is it worth putting these config methods in model? I'm interested to hear how more experienced coders approach the MVC methodology in CI - example pseudo methods (e.g., what methods relating to the same object you'd use in the model and the controller) would be most helpful.

  Hi, I have a table with 58 records in mysql database. I was able to connect to my database and retrive all records and made 5 pages with links to view each pages using php script. webpage will look like this: name number john 1232343456 tony 9878768544 jack 3454562345 joe 1232343456 jane 2343454567 andy 2344560987 marcy 9873459876 sean 8374623534 mark 9898787675 nancy 8374650493 1 2 3 4 5 that's the first page of 58 records and those 5 numbers at bottom are links to each page that will display next 10 records. I got all that. but what I want to do is display the links in this way: 1-10 11-20 21-30 31-40 41-50 51-58 note: since i have 58 records, last link will display upto 58, instead of 60. Since I used the loop to create this link, depending on how many records i have, the link will change according to the number of records in my table. How can i do this? Thanks.

The following query sort of works: Select f.name, max(f.version) from FeatureList f group by f.name The trouble is that won't populate the key field, which I need to contain the key of the record with the highest version number for the given FeatureList. If I add f.key in the select it won't work because it's not in the group by or an aggregate and if I put it in the group by the whole thing stops working and it just gives me every version as a separate entity. So, can anybody help?

  Hi, I'm building an app using ASP.NET MVC which I want to use a strongly type view model, which contains a List called items which contains an id int and itemName string. The view model also conatins a List called people, and the Person class contains a List. The way I want to display the information is as a table, with each row having a column of Person name, then n number of columns which contain checkboxes, one for each of the List, and checked based on whether the Person's List (called items) contains the id of the Item. I have the display working fine, but I'm struggling to understand how to name the items so that the posted method can read the data. The plan shows that the first query cost is 88% relative to the batch and the second is 12%, but the profiler says that durations of the first and second query are 17ms and 210 ms respectively, the overall time is 229, which is not 12 and 88.. What is going on? Is there a way how I can determine in the execution plan which is the slowest part of the query?

• Custom Class to store the properties and passing the class object across the pages - ASP.NEt

  Hello I've a requirement where i need to pass some objects across the pages. So i created a custom class with all the properties required and created a instance of it and assigned all the properties appropriately. I then put that object in the session and took it the other page. The problem is that even when i set the properties values to the class it is coming as null. I set a breakpoint in the getter-setter and saw that the value itself is coming as null. What am I doing wrong ? I use a PostGreSQL database and a Hibernate as JPA provider.

  Hi, I need to write a module that gives me a page will all possible paths in a drupal install, including orphaned pages. (site map won't work for that). I can query the url_alias table for aliases, and I can query the menu_router table for all paths, even ones set in page/feed displays in views. But, variable paths (those with arguments) get interpreted at run-time. So, is there a way to get all possible paths in a drupal install, including dynamic paths and orphans? It's catch22. I have to know all the urls ahead of time to get them.

  According to the Access (2003) documentation, when you delete a record, it's placed in a buffer, then the BeforeDeleteConfirm event is raised, then the AfterConfirmDelete ad Delete events. In my table if a record is deleted, I need to add one of its field values (a quantity value) to a field in another table. I tried setting the quantity to a private variable in the Current event, but as soon as I delete click delete, it looks like the Current event fires again and resets my variable. How can I access the value of a field in a deleted record?

I want to alter the Select statement so that the new SQL Select statement can be applied to all users with different points, but I don't know how to do it.

I am creating a DataGenerationPlan to insert data into a simple table, in which one of the column datatypes is XML. • Create Sum of calculated rows in Microsoft Reporting Services

  This seems like it should be simple but I can't find anything yet. In Reporting Services I have a table with up to 6 rows that all have calculated values and dynamic visibility. I would like to sum these rows. Basically I have a number of invoice items and want to make a total. I can't change anything on the DB side since my stored procedures are used elsewhere in the system. Each row pulls data from a different dataset as well, so I can't do a sum of the dataset. Can I sum all the rows with a table footer? Similarly to totaling a number of rows in Excel? It seems very redundant to put my visibility expression from each row into my footer row to calculate the sum.

ProductCode, ProductIDs AMRLSPN, "1,2" AMRLOFD, "1,3" BLGHVF, "2,4,6" BLGHVO, "2,4" BLGHVD, "3,5" BLGSDO, "0" CHOHVF, "1,6" CHOHVP, "1,2,7,8" ... ... Q: Is there a t-sql query that will return a list of active records from the "ProductAllowed" table if any of three IsSaleType fileds is/are switched on for a product. Based on the sample data the ProductAllowed records should return following records.   Hi, I have a table in my LINQ2SQL diagram with a column called DayOfWeek in table JourneyBooking. The designer.cs has the definition of this as: [Column(Storage="_DayOfWeek", DbType="TinyInt NOT NULL")] public int DayOfWeek { get { return this._DayOfWeek; } set { if ((this._DayOfWeek != value)) { this.OnDayOfWeekChanging(value); this.SendPropertyChanging(); this._DayOfWeek = value; this.SendPropertyChanged("DayOfWeek"); this.OnDayOfWeekChanged(); } } } I have a partial class for the JourneyBooking class. Is it possible to extend/overwrite the above DayOfWeek property with my own property? The issue I am having is that DayOfWeek is 0-6 in C# but 1-7 in SQL, so I was thinking that I could overwrite the DayOfWeek property to subtract or add 1 depending on whether it was a get or set, is this possible or would I need to re-write all of the above code in my partial class?
