  • Add UIView behind UITableView in UITableViewController code

    I would like to use a fixed image as the background in a simple grouped table view in my iPhone program. Unfortunately, no matter what I do, the background is always solid white. I have followed several supposed solutions on this site and others to no avail. Here is the relavant code in the viewDidLoad method of the table view controller class (note, this code uses a solid blue color rather than an image for simplicity's sake): self.tableView.opaque = NO; self.tableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; UIView *backgroundView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480)]; backgroundView.backgroundColor = [UIColor blueColor]; [self.tableView.window addSubview:backgroundView]; [backgroundView release]; I suspect that I am not positioning the backgroundView view in the right place. I have tried sendToBack:, bringToFront:, and others but I always just get a white background. Is it possible to do this from within the UITableViewController? Must I use Interface Builder?

    Can anyone tell me how adding a key scales in MySQL? I have 500,000,000 rows in a database, trans, with columns i (INT UNSIGNED), j (INT UNSIGNED), nu (DOUBLE), A (DOUBLE). I try to index a column, e.g. ALTER TABLE trans ADD KEY idx_A (A); and I wait. For a table of 14,000,000 rows it took about 2 minutes to execute on my MacBook Pro, but for the whole half a billion, it's taking 15hrs and counting. Am I doing something wrong, or am I just being naive about how indexing a database scales with the number of rows?

  • UITableViewController's TableView becomes NULL

    I have UITableViewController (initiated by the Navigation-based app project template). I am overriding loadView and putting up an alternative view (w/ a UILabel and UIActivityIndicator) to display while the table's contents is loading. When the loading is done, I remove the loading view and try to display the table view but I see that it's NULL. So in the simulator I see my loading view and then when the loading's done the view disappears but my tableview never comes. I'm confused what the difference is between self.view and self.tableView in my UITableViewController and how I can exchagn

  • MS Word: Mailmerge hyperlinks with query get url string with a mergefield.

    Hi, I'm trying to send an email merging one document (docx) with a contacts database (via OleDB). Using MSWord2007, it seems easy (it works for easy things: name, address, ...) but I can't find how fill an query-get url string with a merge field inside an hyperlink. An hyperlink like: Click here where here is an hyperlink to http://domain.com/[email protected] where [email protected] is the address of the contact, a merge field. I've tried the special/merge fields: {HYPERLINK "http://domain.com/test.php?contact={MERGEFIELD contactEmail}" \o "Here"} but it doesn't work, sometimes it merge only the first record and then send all the mails with the same address, I got this alternating the view with ALT+F9. This support doc doesn't work for me because I don't have the complete URL in my database for each contact, and I can't change the design of the table or add a view (it's from the CRM), I don't like to do it exporting the table and adding the field.     I would like to get to DataGridRow Cells property. It's a table of cells in a current DataGrid. But I cannot get access direct from code nor by Reflection: var x = dataGridRow.GetType().GetProperty("Cells") //returns null Is there any way to get this table? And related question - in Watch window (VS2008) regular properties have an icon of a hand pointing on a sheet of paper. But DataGridRow.Cells has an icon of a hand pointing on a sheet of paper with a little yellow envelope in a left bottom corner - what does it mean? Thanks for replies.

    I was making an edit to a long existing project. Specifically I added some fields to a table and had to delete the table from the LINQTOSQL designer and re-add it. doesn't Also had to do the same for a view. Mode some other code changes and went to build . Now my project won't build because it can't resolve any of the data context objects (all tables and views) in my code. I don't know what I did or how this happeened. I have many tables and views in the project's L2S data context so I don't wont to try and do over. Please any suggestions on how to resolve this problem are greatly appreciated. Desparate! The error messages I am getting are the familiar The type or namespace name 'equipment' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

    Is there a way to reverse the SQL Like operator so it searches a field backwards? For example, I have a value in a field that looks like this "Xbox 360 Video Game". If I write a query like below, it returns the result fine. SELECT id FROM table WHERE title like "%Xbox%Game%" However, when I search like this, it doesn't find any results. SELECT id FROM table WHERE title like "%Video%Xbox%" I need it to match in any direction. How can I get around this?

  • Sorting/Paginating/Filtering Complex Multi-AR Object Tables in Rails

    I have a complex table pulled from a multi-ActiveRecord object array. This listing is a combined display of all of a particular user's "favorite" items (songs, messages, blog postings, whatever). Each of these items is a full-fledged AR object. My goal is to present the user with a simplified search, sort, and pagination interface. The user need not know that the Song has a singer, and that the Message has an author -- to the end user both entries in the table will be displayed as "User". Thus, the search box will simply be a dropdown list asking them which to search on (User name, created at, etc.). Internally, I would need to convert that to the appropriate object search, combine the results, and display. I can, separately, do pagination (mislav will_paginate), sorting, and filtering, but together I'm having some problems combining them. For example, if I paginate the combined list of items, the pagination plugin handles it just fine. It is not efficient since the pagination is happening in the app vs. the DB, but let's assume the intended use-case would indicate the vast majority of the users will have less than 30 favorited items and all other behavior, server capabilities, etc. indicates this will not be a bottleneck. However, if I wish to sort the list I cannot sort it via the pagination plugin because it relies on the assumption that the result set is derived from a single SQL query, and also that the field name is consistent throughout. Thus, I must sort the merged array via ruby, e.g. @items.sort_by{ |i| i.whatever } But, since the items do not share common names, I must first interrogate the object and then call the correct sort by. For example, if the user wishes to sort by user name, if the sorted object is a message, I sort by author but if the object is a song, I sort by singer. This is all very gross and feels quite un-ruby-like. This same problem comes into play with the filter. If the user filters on the "parent item" (the message's thread, the song's album), I must translate that to the appropriate collection object method. Also gross. This is not the exact set-up but is close enough. Note that this is a legacy app so changing it is quite difficult, although not impossible. Also, yes there is some DRY that can be done, but don't focus on the style or elegance of the following code.   • EF problem with entity re-ordering and uniqueness constraint

    I am using Entity Framework and I've come to an interesting stumbling block. Let's say there is a db table "Item" with "sequence" column of type int (and others of course). Column "sequence" must be unique and it is used for (re)ordering of items. EF maps this table to "Item" class with "sequence" int property. Now let's say I want to swap position of two items by mutually exchanging each other's sequence number. Upon calling SaveChanges() EF throws an exception complaining about "sequence" uniqueness. It probably generates two UPDATEs and the first one probably fails. I assume that plain SQL solution to this issue is using a third UPDATE to introduce a unique sequence value in the process but I am stuck with EF. Any thoughts?

  • MYSQL query to get all entries with specific time, from PHP?

    I'm trying to query a mysql table which places its date in the following format: yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss So it's date and time, and that's all in a single field. Now from php I want to get the time and query the table to only return entries where the date field is less than 24 hours old. I'm having issues with the system because PHPs get time seems to return the values seperately and I'm struggling to figure out how to make it work with mysql queries. This seems fairly simple but I'm quite new to php so sorry if I'm completely missing something..

  • MySQL: Transactions across multiple threads

    Preliminary: I have an application which maintains a thread pool of about 100 threads. Each thread can last about 1-30 seconds before a new task replaces it. When a thread end, that thread almost always will result in inserting 1-3 records into a table, this table is used by all of the threads. Right now, no transactional support exists, but I am trying to add that now. So... Goal I want to implement a transaction for this. The rules for whether or not this transaction commits or rollback reside in the main thread. Basically there is a simple function that will return a boolean. Can I implement a transaction across multiple connections? If not, can multiple threads share the same connection? (Note: there are a LOT of inserts going on here, and that is a requirement).

  • JPA entitymanager remove operation is not performant

    When I try to do an entityManager.remove(instance) the underlying JPA provider issues a separate delete operation on each of the GroupUser entity. I feel this is not right from a performance perspective, since if a Group has 1000 users there will be 1001 calls issued to delete the entire group and itr groupuser entity. I'm sing Zend framework, and sending an array from the controller: $this->view->googleArray = $viewFeedArray; In the view, I have a foreach loop that is populating a table with the array contents. <?php foreach($this->googleArray as $row) { ?> <tr> <td><?php echo $row['when']; ?></td> ... ... </tr> <?php } ?> It all works fine.
