• Why does a ModalPopupExtender fail when using SSL?

  I have created a modal popup using the ModalPopupExtender in Microsoft's AJAX 1.0 for .NET 2.0. It works great when the page doesn't isn't being accessed through SSL (http://) however the link to close the popup fails to fire if accessing the page through https://. Is the ModalPopupExtender at blame? Is it a "Feature" of SSL to block popups, or is it something else I haven't though of? • Automating the Choose a digital certificate dialog

  I am using WatiN (2.0.10.928) with C# and Visual Studio 2008 to test a SSL secured website that requires a certificate. When you navigate to the homepage a "Choose a digital certificate" dialog is displayed and requires that you select a valid certificate and click the 'OK' button. I'm looking for a way to automate the certificate selection so that every time a new test or fixture is executed (and my browser restarts) I don't have to manually interfere with the automated test and select the certificate. I've tried using various WatiN Dialog Handler classes and even looked into using the Win32 API to automate this but haven't had much luck. I finally found a solution but its adds another dependency to the solution (a third party library called AutoIT). Since this solution isn't ideal but does work and is the best I could find, I will post the solution and mark it as the answer but I am still looking for an 'out of the box' WatiN solution that is more consistent with the rest of my code and test fixtures. • How can I force mod_perl to only allow one process per connection?

  I have a perl cgi script that's fairly resource intensive (takes about 2 seconds to finish). This is fine as long as only at most 4 or 5 of them are running at the same time and that's usually the case. The problem is that when a user clicks a link that calls this script, a new process is spawned to handle that connection request, so if a user clicks many times (if they're impatient), the server gets overloaded with new processes running and most of them are redundant. How can I ensure that only one instance of this process is running per host? This is an old system that I'm maintaining which uses an old framework for the frontend, and I would like to avoid using javascript to disable the button client side if possible. Converting this to fast-cgi perl is out of the question as well, again because this is an old system and adding fast-cgi to apache might break a lot of other things that this thing runs.

Obviously, there would be a page-refresh involved. So, if the form had a button called 'add'... However, it seems that the extra=1 does not add 1 to the post data.

• UITableView section header and section footer not updating (redraw problem)

  I have a UITableView grouped style with custom header and footer view. Inside the footer I put a UILabel and a UIButton. Clicking on the button hides or show some rows, updates the UILabel in the footer view and finally resizes footer view. Basically everything is working fine. BUT the text ion the label is not updated on the screen. It is updated in the UILabel text property, but only if I scroll the section footer out of the visible area and scroll it back, it is updated. So it's a typical redraw problem here of the UITableView. I tried every method to force update like needsLayout etc. Nothing helped. I have seen some related questions but with some different behaviour and no solution. Any help/ideas? Thanks, Gerd

• swfobject in Uploadify not working with IE 7 or 8

  I am using Uploadify and have a pop up which is loaded by jQuery by Ajax. The page on which the popup lives on has an include to swfobject (from Google's Code Api) and the Uploadify button should appear. This works great on FF and Chrome but IE gives me a javascript error Unknown runtime error line 4 character 5942 Anyone got any ideas how to fix this problem?   I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding the binding in Flex. I'm using Cairngorm framework. I have the following component with code like: [Bindable] var _model:LalModelLocator = LalModelLocator.getInstance(); .... <s:DataGroup dataProvider="{_model.friendsSearchResults}" includeIn="find" itemRenderer="com.lal.renderers.SingleFriendDisplayRenderer"> <s:layout> <s:TileLayout orientation="columns" requestedColumnCount="2" /> </s:layout> </s:DataGroup> in the model locator: [Bindable] public var friendsSearchResults:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); Inside the item renderer there is a button that calls a command and inside the command results there is a line like this: model.friendsSearchResults = friendsSearchResults; Putting break points and stepping through the code I confirmed that this like gets called and the friendsSearchResults gets updated. To my understanding if I update a bindable variable it should automatically re-render the s:DataGroup which has a dataProvider of that variable.

  Hi, I have a list of ordered items, ordered according to the int field order. I'm creating a gallery in CakePHP 1.2 that has a prev and next button and those should link to the previous and next item according to their ordering, not according to their id. In order to get this result I've included the 'order' parameter to the find function, and populated it with 'Item.order'=>'DESC'. Still the result is an id ordered list. My question is: what do I do wrong? My controller: $this->Item->id = 16; $neighbours = $this->Item->find('neighbors', array('order'=>array('Item.order'=>'DESC'), 'fields'=>array('id','name')));

• jQuery validations not working in IE 7?

  I have a problem. The client is claiming that a prize signup form I built for them is not working in IE 7. It works in IE 8 just fine which they agree about, but in IE 7 it doesn't. (luckily they don't care about IE 6). I was hoping someone could help me debug it since I don't have access to a machine with IE 7 (I work on a Mac). About function , i am creating dataset, and adapter with Sqlquery from runtime passing the parameter value from a session in the query and binding the data to the labels. • Adding rows to UItableview and passing data between Viewcontrollers

  I have a list of websites in a plist, when the app loads this populates a tableview (which is inside a navigation controller) But I have added an add button to the navigation bar and then created another View Controller to deal with inputting of the new website (Like Title and URL). It is very similar to how the contacts app looks. There is a table view and when you tap add, the add UI slides up. I have got all this working great so far. My Problem is what happens when the user taps Done. I can add the website to the plist (each website is a dictionary in the plist with 2 keys, atm) But then how do I tell the tableView to update? The table view has not been removed from the main window, just the add view has been added on top of the "screen". Another way of asking is, when you tap Save on Add a Contact screen: (not my image) How does the new contact's data (Xyz's data) get shown on the tableview?

  The site I'm currently working on is located at: http://counterbeing.com The problem I'm trying to solve is that when you run your mouse over the "Categories" button, the sub-menu items pop up, but then disappear before you can click them. I've tried a variety of things. For one thing, I was attempting to define the div that the sub menu items are wrapped in as something that will also trigger the animation, but that doesn't seem to work... • android.app.Application subclass, onTerminate is not being called

  From the documentation for android.app.Application: "Base class for those who need to maintain global application state" I am using my own subclass to maintain an object that I'm using to query a server. Also from the documentation: "onTerminate() Called when the application is stopping." However, onTerminate() in my class is never called. I press the back button while viewing my main activity, and everything seems to shut down. My main Activity's onDestroy() method is called and isFinishing() returns true, but my android.app.Application's onTerminate() method is never called. Why is this? What am I missing? Is there something that is keeping it open?

• IE6 Hacks: Getting jQuery tools expose to work properly on my site

  Hi, I am trying to get the jQuery tools 'expose' function to work properly in IE6. The page is http://204.51.246.10:12123/ You will need IE6 to reproduce the bug (obviously :)). If you click 'Sign In' on the top-right corner (below the 'Join Today!' button), you will notice that the sign in panel (fieldset#login-controls) is getting covered by the background of its parent element (.signinPanel), which is very weird. It is not on the top of z-index, and I can't figure out why. Please note that in order to get fieldset#login-controls positioned correctly, I have applied the following hack for IE6: $("#header, #header div, #header table, #header td, #header tr").css("position", "static"); $("fieldset#login-controls *").css("position", "static"); This might be the reason for the above. • Validation plugin hijacks click function?

  Absolute newbie question, any help is highly appreciated :) I am using curvycorners (http://www.curvycorners.net/) in combination with the jQuery validation plugin (http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-validation/), and I'm having problems getting the div to redraw the rounded corners when I do like this: $("input[type='submit']").click(function(e) { curvyCorners.redraw(); }); When I click the submit-button the first time the form validates, the validation error-message pops up and expands the div, causing the layout to go ugly. However when I click on it the second time the rounded corners redraw nicely. Could it be that my validation plugin hijacks my initial click? How do I go about this? Any hint is very much appreciated.

• Dynamically creating GWT screens using Metadata?

  I have an AWT applet application that needs to be ported over to GWT. The applet screens are described in meta data and the applet renders each screen dynamically using reflection. We'd like the same thing in GWT/ExtGWT. I've built a working version of this ExtJS whereby the metadata is turned into ExtJS Screen configs in the form of JSON. The drawback with this approach is the "wiring" of controls to data needs to be written in Javascript. GWT is preferred since it'd be all Java code, no JS. Upon digging in it's possible to render the screens using GWT off the metadata using GWT.create(). The problem I'm having is the wiring to hook a dynamically created button for example to an event handler requires reflection which is not supported in GWT. Is this conclusion correct? and if so, are there any other ways to achieve this type of dynamic UI using ExtGWT?

• What is in scala-android.jar?

  I've been trying to experiment with developing Android applications with Scala. I've gotten to the point where I can get the app to compile, but there are no helper functions for things like: button.setOnClickListener( () => { text.setText("test") }) (I'm talking about the closure there) I see lots of references to scala-android.jar, and have this file in my project, but I'm not sure what it does, or how to use it. I get the feeling it has these helper conversion functions, but I'm not sure.
