  Hi! I'm trying to create a small search for my site. I've tried using full-text index search, but I could never get it to work. This works decently well, but I'm just wondering how efficient would it be? This would only be for a small blog, too. Either way I'm just wondering if this could be made any more efficient.

• select list modified on-the-fly doesn't fire onChange() for new first element.

  In the code below, I'm using jquery 1.4.1 to modify the options in a select list when the user clicks on the list (replacing the single Old item with three New items). Selecting either New 2 or New 3 correctly fires the change() method (and show the alert), but selecting "New 1" does not. What am I missing? • onKeypress Enter Key event on textfield not working in Chrome

  I have a question along the same vein as the one asked here regarding how the enter key is handled in chrome. The effect I am trying to accomplish is to allow the enter key to call a click event of one a button while focus in within the current field. I found in some places that I need to implement a ControlBuilder Class, along with another class that implements IParserAccessor. Anyway I just want my default "Content" property to have all types of controls allowed in it, both literal and actual controls.

This chapter isn't working at all. below is the sample code. data.plist is located in the resource folder. • How to align all fields as label width grows

  I have a form where the labels are on the left and the fields on the right. This layout works great when the labels have small amounts of text. I can easily set a min-width on the labels to ensure they all have the same distance to the fields. In the first picture below, this works as expected. A problem arises when the label's text becomes too long, it'll either overflow to the next line or push the field on the same line over to the left (as seen in picture 2). This doesn't push the other labels so it is left with a "jagged" look. Ideally, it should like to style it as picture 3 with something like the following markup: <fieldset> <label>Name</label><input type="text" /><br /> <label>Username</label><input type="text" /> </fieldset> I created a jsFiddle to show the issue. Of course, the easy cross-browser way to solve this would be to use tables. That just creates tag-hell for something that should be so simple. Note: this does not need to support IE6.

  I want to select nodes for which a specific attribute does not exist. I've tried the Not() function, but it doesn't work. Is there a way for this? Example: The following Xpath query: group/msg[not(@owner)] Should retrieve the first node but not the 2nd one.   First off, sorry for the lame title, but I couldn't think of a better one. I need to test a password to ensure the following: Passwords must contain at least 3 of the following: upper case letters lower case letters numbers special characters Here's what I've come up with (it works, but I'm wondering if there is a better way to do this): Dim lowerCase As New Regex("[a-z]") Dim upperCase As New Regex("[A-Z]") Dim numbers As New Regex("\d") Dim special As New Regex("[\\\.\+\*\?\^\$\[\]\(\)\|\{\}\/\'\#]") Dim count As Int16 = 0 If Not lowerCase.IsMatch(txtUpdatepass.Text) Then count += 1 End If If Not upperCase.IsMatch(txtUpdatepass.Text) Then count += 1 End If If Not numbers.IsMatch(txtUpdatepass.Text) Then count += 1 End If If Not special.IsMatch(txtUpdatepass.Text) Then count += 1 End If If at least 3 of the criteria have not been met, I handle it. I'm not well versed in regular expressions and have been reading numerous tutorials on the web. Is there a way to combine all 4 regexes into one? On a side note, is there a site that has an exhaustive list of all characters that would need to be escaped in the regex (those that have special meaning - eg. $, ^, etc.)? As always, TIA. One presentation of the control would be a read-only view. And the other would have the edit view for this same person. • HTML templating in C++ and translations

  I'm using HTML_Template for templating in my C++-based web app (don't ask). I chose that because it was very simple and it turns out to be a good solution. The only problem right now is that I would like to be able to include translatable strings in the HTML templates (HTML_Template does not really support that). Ultimately, what I would like is to have a single file that contains all the strings to be translated. It can then be given to a translator and plugged back in to the app and used depending on which language the user chose in settings. I've been going back and forth on some options and was wondering what others felt was the best choice (or if there's a better choice that isn't listed) Extend HTML_Template to include a tag for holding the literal string to translate. So, for example, in the HTML I would put something like <TMPL_TRANS "this is the text to translate"/> Use a completely separate scheme for translation and preprocess the HTML files to generate the final template files (without the special translation lingo). For example, in the pre-processed file, translatable text would look like this: {{this is the text to translate}} and the final would look like: this is the text to translate Don't do anything and let the translators find the string to translate in the html and js files themselves.

• How do I use jquery to both download & delete files dynamically from servlet

  Is it possible to a jquery $.get() to call a servlet and use it to both download a file or update the page without reloading the page? (Or more basically, can I download a file without reloading the page?) For example, I am using a servlet that either returns a file to download of mimetype "application/octet-stream", or returns text to be update in the page of type "text/html".   Hi, I have a bool array of size 4 and I want to bind each cell to a different control. This bool array represents 4 statuses (false = failure, true = success). • Improving the efficiency of multiple concurrent Core Animation animations

  I have a view in my app that is very similar to the month view in the built-in Calendar app. There's a subview that holds the individual cells (a custom UIView subclass that draws text into its layer), and when the user navigates to the next "month", I create the new cells and slide the view to show them. When the animation stops, I remove the old, hidden cells and set things up so it's ready to go for the next animation. This all works nicely. However, I'd like to animate the cells' text color, as in the Calendar app, so that the outgoing ones transition to a lighter color and the incoming ones transition to a darker color. The problems is that I can have as many as 70 cells, so doing individual animations is very slow -- between 5-10 fps on my iPhone 3GS. I'm trying to find a less computationally intense way of doing this. My reading of the Shark results is that the majority of the time is spent redrawing the text for each frame for each frame. This makes sense, since text rendering is hardly the cheapest operation. I've considered creating a second view -- one holding the "outgoing" state and one holding the "incoming" state and using a single opacity animation to gradually reveal the updated cells while both are sliding. I'm concerned that instead of having 70 cells, I'll have 140, which seems like a lot of views. So, is that too many views or would there be a better way of doing this?

• How do I use requestFocus in a Java JFrame GUI?

  I am given an assignment but I am totally new to Java (I have been programming in C++ and Python for two years). So we are doing GUI and basically we extended JFrame and added a couple fields. Say we have a field named "Text 1" and "Text 2". When user presses enter with the cursor in Text 1, move the focus to Text 2. I tried to add private JTextField textfield1() { textfield1 = new JTextField(); textfield1.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(200, 20)); textfield1.addActionListener( new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { textfield1text = textfield1.getText().trim(); textfield1.setText(textfield1text); System.out.println(textfield1text); textfield1.requestFocus(); } }); return textfield1; } But that doesn't work at all. I noticed that requestFocus is not recommended, and instead one should use requestFocusWindows. But I tried that too. Upon some readings it seems like I have to do keyboard action and listener? But my teacher said it only requires 1 line...

• Testing for optional node - Delphi XE

  What is the proper way to test for the existance of an optional node? A snipped of my XML is: <Antenna > <Mount Model="text" Manufacture="text"> <BirdBathMount/> </Mount> </Antenna> But it could also be: <Antenna > <Mount Model="text" Manufacture="text"> <AzEl/> </Mount> </Antenna> The child of Antenna could either be BirdBath or AzEl but not both... In Delphi XE I have tried: if (MountNode.ChildNodes.Nodes['AzEl'] <> unassigned then //Does not work if (MountNode.ChildNodes['BirdBathMount'].NodeValue <> null) then // Does not work if (MountNode.BirdBathMount.NodeValue <> null) then // Does not work I use XMLSpy to create the schema and the example XML and they parse correctly. I use Delphi XE to create the bindings and it works on most other combinations fine. This must have a simple answer that I have just overlooked - but what? Thanks...... Jim
