  Hi all I have some troubles with ssl using httpclient on android i am trying to access public trusted certificate in details i want my app to trust all certificates. First i tried using this guide http://hc.apache.org/httpclient-3.x/sslguide.html on Desktop is working fine but on android i still got javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Not trusted server certificate. After searching in google i found some other examples how to enable ssl. http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/62d856cdcfa9f16e - Working when i use URLConnection but with HttpClient still got the exception. http://www.discursive.com/books/cjcook/reference/http-webdav-sect-self-signed.html - on Desktop using jars from apache is working but in android using included in SDK classes can't make it work.   I have been searching on the web to see if I can use GoogleMaps with the JXMapViewer. According to this, it is illegal, but the article is more than three years old. Could anyone be kind enough to tell me if I can use GoogleMaps with the JXMap viewer? I know that Google has recently allowed desktop applications to use their static maps provided that the application is freely accessible to people on some website. If this can be done, I would appreciate some pointer to where I could start looking so that I can use Google Maps, I tried messing around with this but to no avail. Thanks in advance. Edit: I have managed to show a map in my JXMapKit. The only problem is that I am getting the image as a tiled image, whilst I only need one. Any help on this issue?

• Horizontal lines and PDF drawing on iPhone/iPad Quartz 2D

  I'm trying to display a PDF of music using the Quartz 2D calls: CGPDFDocumentGetPage and CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform The problem is that some horizontal lines in the PDF get drawn thicker than others. The biggest problem is that I notice this in Preview on the Mac and on iPhone/iPad. Even when viewing this PDF in the iPhone/iPad mail, I get the same problem. See how clean the Google Docs version is? Is there any way to fix this problem? Would it help to draw the PDF larger and zoom down using a UIScrollView? Any help appreciated. • Unity - Mecanim & Rigidbody on Third Person Controller - Gravity bug?

  I'm working on a third person controller which uses physX to interact with the other objects (using the Rigidbody component) and Mecanim to animate the character. All the animations used are baked to Y, and the movement on this axis is controlled by the gravity applied by the rigidbody component. The configuration of the falling animation: And the character components configuration: Since the falling animation doesn't have root motion on XZ, I move the character on XZ by code. But I'm having trouble adding the extra elements like g:image_link. I try the extra elements like; syndicationItem.ElementExtensions.Add(new XElement("image_link", product.ImageLink).CreateReader()); This works, but how can I add the namespace xmlns:g="http://base.google.com/ns/1.0" to the first RSS tag and use this for the extension elements? • How should I pass an object wrapping an API to a class using that API?

  Hello everyone :) This is a revised/better written version of the question I asked earlier today -- that question is deleted now. I have a project where I'm getting started with Google Mock. I have created a class, and that class calls functions whithin the Windows API. I've also created a wrapper class with virtual functions wrapping the Windows API, as described in the Google Mock CheatSheet. I'm confused however at how I should pass the wrapper into my class that uses that object. Obviously that object needs to be polymorphic, so I can't pass it by value, forcing me to pass a pointer. That in and of itself is not a problem, but I'm confused as to who should own the pointer to the class wrapping the API. So... how should I pass the wrapper class into the real class to facilitate mocking?

  Recently, I found that some searches in Firefox are redirected to Bing. (Instead of my primary search engine Google.) I am not sure, but it seems that it is not bound to search but rather a hostname resolving. Since entering a single word that might be a hostname redirects to Bing. But entering more words searches using my primary search engine. hey - uses Bing to search hey hey - uses Google to search I found that the resulting search url contains MSSRPD: http://www.bing.com/search?q=hey&form=MSSRPD I am wondering what is the MSSRPD and how can I uninstall/disable, so my primary search engine is used?

• Expression Studio 4 Premium & SketchFlow: Am I screwed?

  Through work I have an Visual Studio Premium with MSDN subscription that I love. However, my biggest disappointment of the last 12 months was discovering that our 2nd from the top level subscription was not enough to get me Sketchflow! This sucks and I am borderline distraught! What are my options? Upgrading to an Ultimate subscription for Sketchflow is out of the question. Am I forced, then, to stay with Blend 3 or Purchase Blend 4 seperately? If this is not a question I should ask here please inform and I'll delete. I just tend to default to SO for all questions that Google can't answer and Google did not answer this one.

  I know that some people consider the presence of a leading underscore to imply that a variable is "private," that such privacy is a fiction, and assume this is why JSLint reports such names with an error message. I use Google Analytics on a Web site I am building. I make reference to GA's variables, such as "_gaq." I am trying to get my JS code to be 100% JSLint clean (I'm not religious about my coding style, and so will go with Mr. Crockford's counsel). That said, I can't do anything about Google's variables names... so, I guess I can't get 100% "clean." I post here in case I've misunderstood the message, and can do something to comply with JSLint practices.

• XMPP TLS connection with SslStream

  I am trying to create a simple xmpp client that connects to Gtalk. The first part of the handshake seems to work. Ror the TLS handshake I created a client SslStream, connected to the intended server (talk.google.com) and successfully got authenticated . The first SSlStream.Read is to receive the greeting reply, it went fine . I do a SslStream.write to send my first command, but when i do my Sslstream.Read() to get the reply , i get this error."System.IO.IOException: Unable to read data from the transport connection: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine." Can anyone point me to the right direction? • How to geocode a large number of addresses?

  I need to geocode, i.e. translate street address to latitude,longitude for ~8,000 street addresses. I am using both Yahoo and Google geocoding engines at http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocoder/, and found out that for a large number of addresses those engines (one of them or both) either could not perform geocoding (i.e.return latitude=0,longitude=0), or return the wrong coordinates (incl. cases when Yahoo and Google give different results). What is the best way to handle this problem? Which engine is (usually) more accurate? I would appreciate any thoughts, suggestions, ideas from people who had previous experience with this kind of task.

  Hello, I want to embed a VLC player in my webapp build with Google's GWT. First I had a look at this page: http://wiki.videolan.org/GWT, which offers a nice solution but I add to implements all javascript functions calls (play, stop, fullscreen) with JSNI. Then I found gwt-player (hosted by Google code) which does all the job for me but the annoying part is that the project is not widely used (few posts each month on the project's group, not so many talks about it in blogs/forums...) Do you know another option to easly embed & control a VLC player in a GWT app ? My main goal is to play any video/audio file in a webapp and offer the user a fast/forward feature (set rate in VLC), is there any other player I could use ? I already had a look at Quicktime, Windows Media player & Flowplayer, none of them offers as much features as VLC. Thanks in advance & have a nice new year's eve. Chris

• How to port email from evolution to thunderbird?

  I updated ubuntu to 11.10 using the update notification. I am also switching from Xubuntu to ubuntu - gnome interface. I have been using evolution for years and would like to port the emails to thunderbird. I have looked at the similar questions with no luck and the thunderbird help on manually importing. Most of these assume that the evolution file structure is similar to the evolution file structure. When I set up thunderbird it seems to have imported the contacts from evolution (and actually removed them from evolution. However no mail got transferred. I found the evolution mail in ~/.local/share/evolution/mail/local . this has folders.db and 3 directories - cur ,tmp, and new. then there are the hidden files and directories. Each directory has three related files with extensions .cmeta, .ibex.index, and .ibex.index.data. Then all the directories had files that seem to contain the individual messages. I have not looked at rhyme or reason to the file numbering/naming scheme. is there a nice way to import these files?

  I'd like to be able to control the system microphone volume from the browser. I know that the microphone can be recorded from using Flash or Silverlight, but these don't allow control of the microphone volume. (Flash has Microphone.gain, but as its just a software multiplier, it doesn't help when the system mic volume is muted or too loud.) I've heard that HTML5 will have some sort of microphone access, but whether it will allow volume control is unclear to me. At any rate, I don't think any browsers support it yet. Are there any plugins that would allow volume control? The old Google Gears project has some AudioApi docs, though these don't seem to have made it into the actual plugin. There's also the Google Talk plugin- it seems to do some kind of gain control, but its unclear if there's an api to the plugin. Perhaps there's a draft HTML5 implementation plugin for microphone access (like indexeddb, for example)?

• Sending persisted JDO instances over GWT-RPC

  I've just started learning Google Web Toolkit and finished writing the Stock Watcher tutorial app. Is my thinking correct that if one wants to persist a business object (like a Stock) using JDO and send it back and forth to/from the client over RPC then one has to create two separate classes for that object: One with the JDO annotations for persisting it on the server and another which is serialisable and used over RPC? I notice the Stock Watcher has separate classes and I can theorise why: Otherwise the gwt compiler would try to generate javascript for everything the persisted class referenced like JDO and com.google.blah.users.User, etc Also there may be logic on the server-side class which doesn't apply to the client and vice-versa. I just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. I don't want to have to create two versions of all my business object classes which I want to use over RPC if I don't have to.

• How to get the data for intra-day candlestick charts for stocks on eg Nasdaq

  Hi, For a learning exercise, i'm wanting to create candlestick (stock) graphs for stocks using zedgraph. Now on google finance, i can get daily open-high-low-close data which is perfect for making these graphs, but i'm wanting to create intra-day graphs, eg open-high-low-close data for an hour (or 5 mins, or 1 min even). Is there any way to get that kind of data without having to subscribe to any expensive service? I've heard opentick mentioned in an old SO question, but their site is defunct now. I was thinking of polling google finance once a minute to get the latest stock price, then with an hour's worth of 60 prices, i could then roughly calculate the open-high-low-close, but this is a bit of an estimation and i'm open to other suggestions. • Missing Menu Bar in Visual Studio 2010

  When I opened up Visual Studio 2010 this morning, my Menu Bar (you know, the bar with File, Edit, etc. on it) was missing. I've tried all of the right-click menus, customize options, Function keys and Google searches that I can think of but to no avail. This is exactly the kind of humiliation that brings sobriety to my ever-growing ego as a developer. I'm actually posting this on StackOverflow.com for the world to see. Next, I will be just as humiliated when someone replies to this and tells me precisely how simple it is and how ignorant that I am for not knowing the simple key combination or finding it on Google.   Hi, I am trying to create a very basic\ minimalistic playlist application for http://www.google.co.in/music. Basically Google music displays links to song and when clicked it opens flash based player. Using my application i am collecting music links into a list box, when an song is clicked it opens the link in a separate webbrowser and it starts playing. As of now to achieve playlist functionality i also collect the time for each song and based on that i create a timer, once the time is over it switches to other song. My Question here is that, is it possible to detect when the flash player is done playing music. Currently the timer functionality that i have built is not reliable. • Are tile overlays possible with the iPhone's MapKit

  I already have a tile source set up for use with the Google Maps JavaScript API. I am trying to translate this for use with the iPhone MapKit. I have correctly implemented the javascript zooming levels into mapkit. Whenever - (void)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView regionDidChangeAnimated:(BOOL)animated is called, I snap the region to the nearest zoom level based on the same center point. Is it possible to implement a solution possibly with CATiledLayer to implement a tiling solution. Does the iPhone use the standard 256x256 tiles like google maps does natively? Any direction or help on this would be greatly appreciated. I would rather not waste a couple weeks trying to implement this if it's not possible.

  I have a RadGrid where a column in the grid holds a URL. When a put a value in the column I can see the URL but the URL is not clickable (to go to the URL). How can I make the URL clickable? Here is a rough example of what I'm doing now: DataTable table = new DataTable(); DataRow row = table.Rows[0]; row["URL"] = "http://www.google.com"; grid.DataSource = table; In addition I'd really like to show specific text instead of the URL. Something similar to <a href="http://www.google.com">Link</a> in HTML. Is there anyway to do this?
