  • Zooming out to fit all annotations in MapKit

    - by Krismutt
    Hey everybody!! I wanna zoom out so that all my annotations(my location and one more annotation) fit to the screen...what do I do wrong?? I get the following warning: "'getDistanceFrom:' is deprecated".... -(void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; mapView = [[MKMapView alloc] initWithFrame:self.view.bounds]; mapView.showsUserLocation = TRUE; mapView.delegate = self; mapView.mapType = MKMapTypeStandard; mapView.zoomEnabled = YES; mapView.scrollEnabled = YES; mapView.userInteractionEnabled = YES; [mapView.userLocation setTitle:@"Nuvarande plats"]; [mapView.userLocation setSubtitle:@"Du är här"]; [self.view insertSubview:mapView atIndex:0]; self.locationManager = [[[CLLocationManager alloc] init] autorelease]; locationManager.delegate = self; locationManager.desiredAccuracy = kCLLocationAccuracyBest; [locationManager startUpdatingLocation]; [mapView release]; } -(void) locationManager: (CLLocationManager *)manager didUpdateToLocation:(CLLocation *)newLocation fromLocation:(CLLocation *)oldLocation{ NSLog (@"Position uppdateras" ); location = newLocation.coordinate; if (friZoom) { MKCoordinateRegion region; region.center.latitude = location.latitude; region.center.longitude= location.longitude; MKCoordinateSpan span; span.latitudeDelta = 0.01; span.longitudeDelta = 0.01; region.span = span; [mapView setRegion:region animated:TRUE];} } - (MKAnnotationView *)mapView:(MKMapView *)mapview viewForAnnotation:(id <MKAnnotation>)knappnal { if ([knappnal isKindOfClass:MKUserLocation.class]) { return nil; } MKPinAnnotationView *knappnalView = (MKPinAnnotationView*)[mapview dequeueReusableAnnotationViewWithIdentifier:@"annot"]; if (!knappnalView) { knappnalView = [[[MKPinAnnotationView alloc] initWithAnnotation:knappnal reuseIdentifier:@"annot"] autorelease]; knappnalView.pinColor = MKPinAnnotationColorRed; knappnalView.animatesDrop = YES; knappnalView.canShowCallout = YES; } else { knappnalView.annotation = knappnal; } return knappnalView; } - (IBAction)storeLocationInfo:(id) sender{ SparaPosition *position=[[SparaPosition alloc] initWithCoordinate:location]; [mapView addAnnotation:position]; savedPosition = location; } - (IBAction)visaPosition:(id)sender{ CLLocationCoordinate2D southWest =location; CLLocationCoordinate2D northEast =savedPosition; southWest.latitude = MIN(southWest.latitude, location.latitude); southWest.longitude = MIN(southWest.longitude, location.longitude); northEast.latitude = MAX(northEast.latitude, savedPosition.latitude); northEast.longitude = MAX(northEast.longitude, savedPosition.longitude); CLLocation *locSouthWest = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:southWest.latitude longitude:southWest.longitude]; CLLocation *locNorthEast = [[CLLocation alloc] initWithLatitude:northEast.latitude longitude:northEast.longitude]; CLLocationDistance meters = [locSouthWest getDistanceFrom:locNorthEast]; MKCoordinateRegion region; region.center.latitude = (southWest.latitude + northEast.latitude) / 2.0; region.center.longitude = (southWest.longitude + northEast.longitude) / 2.0; region.span.latitudeDelta = meters / 111319.5; region.span.longitudeDelta = 0.0; region = [mapView regionThatFits:region]; [mapView setRegion:region animated:YES]; [locSouthWest release]; [locNorthEast release]; } Would really appreciate an answer!

  • How to tell if you touched a CCLabel? (Cocos2d Question)

    - by RexOnRoids
    How to tell if you touched a CCLabel? The following code obviously does not work well enough because it only tests for point equality. Naturally touch point will not necessarily be equal to the position property of the CCLabel (CCNode). How to I tell if a Touch point has fallen within the "rectangle?" of the CCLabel? - (void)ccTouchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { for( UITouch *touch in touches ) { CGPoint location = [touch locationInView: [touch view]]; location = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] convertToGL:location]; self.myGraphManager.isSliding = NO; if(CGPointEqualToPoint(location, label1.position)){ NSLog(@"Label 1 Touched"); }else if(CGPointEqualToPoint(location, label2.position)){ NSLog(@"Label 2 Touched"); }else if(CGPointEqualToPoint(location, label3.position)){ NSLog(@"Label 3 Touched"); }else if(CGPointEqualToPoint(location, label4.position)){ NSLog(@"Label 4 Touched"); }else if(CGPointEqualToPoint(location, label5.position)){ NSLog(@"Label 5 Touched"); }else if(CGPointEqualToPoint(location, label6.position)){ NSLog(@"Label 6 Touched"); } NSLog(@"Touch Made!"); } }

  • What's the fastest way to determine if a file adheres to a particular class's NSCoding implementatio

    - by Justin Searls
Given: An application that accesses a directory of files: some plain text, some binary files that adhere to a particular NSCoding implementation, and perhaps other binary files it simply doesn't understand how to process. I want to be able to figure out which of the files in that directory adhere to my NSCoding class, and I'd prefer not to have to fall back on the naïve approach of loading the entirety of each file into memory, attempting to unarchive each. Anyone have an elegant approach or pattern to this problem?

  • Passing a string representing my format specifier into stringWithFormat and seeing issues

    - by Jeff
If I call "[NSString stringWithFormat:@"Testing \n %@",variableString]"; I get what I would expect, which is Testing, followed by a new line, then the contents of variableString. However, if i try NSString *testString = @"Testing \n %@"; //forgive shorthand here [NSString stringWithFormat, testString, variableString] the output actually literally writes \n to the screen instead of a newline. any workaround to this? seems odd to me

  • Quartz2d vector images vs OpenGL vector description?

    - by tbarbe
How big of a difference is the description language of Quartz2d to OpenGL ES? It seems they are similar in description power... except that Quartz is mostly 2d and that OpenGL is out of the box 3d ( but can be made 2d focused ). Are the mappings from 2dQuartz to 2d OpenGL ES that different? Im sure there must be differences in some specific features that might be handled differently on one vs another... but to do a translator? Anyone have experience with both OpenGL and Quartz2d have some insights?

  • How can I write a scrolling text in cocos2d ?

    - by srikanth rongali
I have a text and it should be abled to scrolled only up and down to see entire text. and my application is a game and written in cocos2d. So, I have layers. There is also an image(CCSprite) adjacent to text. The text should be scrolled and the image have a touchesEnded: property. I used CCLabel for text and CCParallaxNode to add the text. But the text appears like a continues paragraph. But, my text should have different lines. My text is like this. //text starts Hey Player. Do you want to play the game right now then play. Do you want to practice or Play? what want to do? ...text continues //text ends What should I use for this ? Thank you.

  • call method in a subclass of UIView

    - by rdesign
Hey, I've got a UIViewController and an own class, a subclass of UIView. In my ViewController I make a instance of the uiview. If I tap the uiview a function gets called within it and an overlay appears. TO get rid of that overlay later the user has to tap somewhere on the screen(besides the instance of my class) How do I tell my class to dismiss the overlay? I already thought of delegate. So my thoughts were to make a MyUIViewControllerdelegate. If my viewcontroller receives a tap the delegate should be called. THe only problem is how do I tell my subclass that it should receive that delegate? I Have no instance of my viewcontroller in my subclass so I can not set the delegate. Any Ideas? Hope my problem is clear :) Thanks a lot

  • Tableview not updating correctly after adding person

    - by tazboy
I have to be missing something simple here but it escapes me. After the user enters a new person to a mutable array I want to update the table. The mutable array is the datasource. I believe my issue lies within cellForRowAtIndexPath. - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { TextFieldCell *customCell = (TextFieldCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"TextCellID"]; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"cell"]; if (indexPath.row == 0) { if (customCell == nil) { NSArray *nibObjects = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"TextFieldCell" owner:nil options:nil]; for (id currentObject in nibObjects) { if ([currentObject isKindOfClass:[TextFieldCell class]]) customCell = (TextFieldCell *)currentObject; } } customCell.nameTextField.delegate = self; cell = customCell; } else { if (cell == nil) { cell = [[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:@"cell"]; cell.textLabel.text = [[self.peopleArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row-1] name]; NSLog(@"PERSON AT ROW %d = %@", indexPath.row-1, [[self.peopleArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row-1] name]); NSLog(@"peopleArray's Size = %d", [self.peopleArray count]); } } return cell; } When I first load the view everything is great. This is what prints: PERSON AT ROW 0 = Melissa peopleArray's Size = 2 PERSON AT ROW 1 = Dave peopleArray's Size = 2 After I add someone to that array I get this: PERSON AT ROW 1 = Dave peopleArray's Size = 3 PERSON AT ROW 2 = Tom peopleArray's Size = 3 When I add a second person I get: PERSON AT ROW 2 = Tom peopleArray's Size = 4 PERSON AT ROW 3 = Ralph peopleArray's Size = 4 Why is not printing everyone in the array? This pattern continues and it only ever prints two people, and it's always the last two people. What the heck am I missing?

  • NSMutable String "Out of scope"

    - by Garry
I have two NSMutableString objects defined in my viewController's (a subclass of UITableViewController) .h file: NSMutableString *firstName; NSMutableString *lastName; They are properties: @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableString *firstName; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableString *lastName; I synthesis them in the .m file. In my viewDidLoad method - I set them to be blank strings: firstName = [NSMutableString stringWithString:@""]; lastName = [NSMutableString stringWithString:@""]; firstName and lastName can be altered by the user. In my cellForRowAtIndexPath method, I'm trying to display the contents of these strings: cell.detailTextLabel.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@ %@", firstName, lastName]; but this is causing the app to crash as soon as the view controller is displayed. Using the debugger, it seems that both firstName and lastName are "out of scope" or that they don't exist. I'm new to Xcode but the debugger seems to halt at objc_msgSend. What am I doing wrong?

  • Access variables from a number of sources

    - by mac_55
I'm creating my first game, and I've currently set up a 'GameState' class, to store player health etc. inside. This class is currently instantiated from the AppDelegate as I need to access it from all over my game. This is fine. For each class I'm working in, I can access the app delegate, and then find the GameState object... however, it seems very messy. I'm tempted to find a way (I'm still a newbie) to define the GameState instance as being some sort of global variable so that I can access it from all over with ease... but my little bit of reading on variable scope makes me uneasy about doing this, even if I knew how. Any ideas of the best way to define and access this class? It'll be used for everything from player health, to items they've found, any personalisation etc. Thanks!

  • How much more complex is it to draw simple curves, lines and circles in OpenGL ES rather than in Qua

    - by mystify
Is OpenGL ES really so much faster? Why? And is it really so horrible complicated to draw such simple things in OpenGL ES compared to drawing these in Quartz 2D? For example, I have a UIView subclass with -drawRect: implemented, where I draw some lines, curves and circles. Just simple paths, with some shadow. What would I do in OpenGL ES? Isn't there this nice EAGLView layer thing? One thing that comes to mind is how do touch events go into OpenGL ES? Maybe that's the complex thing about it? Are there tutorials on basic drawing operations in OpenGL ES?

  • White bar at the bottom of root view!

    - by Sam
Hi, I have two view controllers in the app. When the app starts, the layout of the root view controller's view is just fine. When a button is clicked, the view controller switches to the other one - which shows fine too. However, when the view is switched back to the root view, the contents are shifted UP by about 20 pixels, leaving a white bar at the bottom! - and it was not there when the app had started. Has anyone seen this? Any idea what's going on there? Thanks, Sam.

  • Obj-C memory management: why doesn't this work?

    - by igul222
Why doesn't the following code work? MyViewController *viewController = [[MyViewController alloc] init]; [myWindow addSubview:viewController.view]; [viewController release]; As I understand, myWindow should be retaining viewController.view for as long as the window needs it. So why does this cause my app to crash on launch? (commenting out the last line fixes the problem, as expected)

  • NSMutableArray withObject(UIImageView *)

    - by pureman
I am trying to load an NSMutableArray with UIImageViews. Everything is going fine with that. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to use the objects when they are in the mutable array. Here is some code: UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; NSMutableArray *array = [NSMutableArray new]; [array loadWithObject:(UIImageView *)imageView]; [imageView release]; That kind of sets up what I've done. Here's what I want to do: [array objectAtIndex:5].center = GCRectMake(0, 0); but that doesn't work. How can I do this??

  • Can't set default value of string property to "" in the Xcode CoreData model designer

    - by glenc
I have an entity in my datamodel with a string property that is currently optional, and I'd like to convert this property to a required property with a default value of the empty string. As others have discovered, leaving the default value blank results in validation errors (since the designer interprets this as NULL), but trying '', "", or @"" as the default value results in those literal characters being interpreted as the default, rather than the empty zero-length string, as desired. I did find this thread on Google, however, apart from the solution being really ugly (model definition split between the .xcdatamodel and objc source), it also doesn't work for lightweight migrations because those migrations are done solely based on the .xcdatamodel files and the objc logic from your entity implementations isn't loaded. Is there any way to achieve this in the data model designer?
