  • Changing Tint / Background color of UITabBar

    - by pixel
The UINavigationBar and UISearchBar both have a tintColor property that allows you to change the tint color (surprising, I know) of both of those items. I want to do the same thing to the UITabBar in my application, but have found now way to change it from the default black color. Any ideas?

  • MVC, can model save/load its data?

    - by fuzzygoat
Quick question, my data model is a singleton object and it contains a list of names I want archive. My idea is to make the model responsible for loading / saving this data. The ModelLoad will then be called by the ViewControllerviewDidLoad and the ModelSave by ViewControllerapplicationWillTerminate. I could do the load / save directly within the ViewController, but this would be messy as the list of names are on instance variable of the model. gary

  • calculate camera up vector after glulookat()?

    - by carrots
I'm just starting out teaching myself openGL and now adding openAL to the mix. I have some planets scattered around in 3D space and when I touch the screen, I'm assigning a sound to a random planet and then slowly and smoothly flying the "camera" over to look at it and listen to it. The animation/tweening part is working perfectly, but the openAL piece isn't quiet right. I move the camera around by doing a tiny translate() and gluLookAt() for every frame to keep things smooth (tweening the camera position and lookAt coords). The trouble seems to be with the stereo image I'm getting out of the headphones.. it seems like the left/right/up/down is mixed up sometimes after the camera rolls or spins. I am pretty sure the trouble is here: ALfloat listenerPos[]={camera->currentX,camera->currentY,camera->currentZ}; ALfloat listenerOri[]={camera->currentLookX, camera->currentLookY, camera->currentLookZ, 0.0,//Camera Up X <--- here 0.1,//Camera Up Y <--- here 0.0}//Camera Up Z <--- and here alListenerfv(AL_POSITION,listenerPos); alListenerfv(AL_ORIENTATION,listenerOri); I'm thinking I need to recompute the UP vector for the camera after each gluLookAt() to straighten out the audio positioning problem.. but after hours of googling and experimenting I'm stuck in math that suddenly got way over my head. 1) Am I right that I need to recalculate the up vector after each gluLookAt() i do? 2) If so, can someone please walk me though figuring out how to do that?

Now i just made a new product which is non-consumable with new price tier, and deleted the old one. Update my code, with the new Product ID. • TextField Covering UIAlertView's Button.

    - by XcodeDev
    Hi, I am using a UIAlertView with three buttons: "Dismiss", "Submit Score" and @"View Leaderboard". The UIAlertView also contains a UITextField called username. At the moment the UITextField "username" is covering one of the buttons in the UIAlertView. I just wanted to know how I could stop the UITextField from covering one of the buttons, i.e move the buttons down. Here is an image of what is happening: And here is my code: [username setBackgroundColor:[UIColor whiteColor]]; [username setBorderStyle:UITextBorderStyleRoundRect]; username.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; username.returnKeyType = UIReturnKeyDone; username.keyboardAppearance = UIKeyboardAppearanceAlert; username.placeholder = @"Enter your name here"; username = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(20.0, 45.0, 245.0, 25.0)]; username.borderStyle = UITextBorderStyleRoundedRect; [username resignFirstResponder]; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Congratulations" message:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"You tapped %i times in %i seconds!\n", tapAmount, originalCountdownTime] delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Dismiss" otherButtonTitles:@"Submit To High Score Leaderboard", @"View Leaderboard", nil]; alert.tag = 01; [alert addSubview:username]; [alert show]; [alert release];

  • Personalized UIView created with Interface Builder

    - by Malox
I need to project a personalized UIView with a UIImageView and 3 UILabel. I need to allocate more of this view because I want put it into a UIScrollView. I would avoid to generate the view programatically because it's difficult and boring design it. My idea is to create a new class that extends UIView and design it with interface builder. For example my Personalized View code is like that: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface PersonalizedPreview : UIView { IBOutlet UIImageView *image; IBOutlet UILabel *first_label; IBOutlet UILabel *second_label; IBOutlet UILabel *third_label; } -(void) setImage:(UIImage *)image; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIImageView *image; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *label; .... @end I would create an associated xib file for this view and initialize it simply specifing the xib file. Note that I don't want create a specific ViewController for this view and PersonalizedView is instantiate at runtime not when the app runs, moreover I don't know how many PersonalizedView I will instantiate, it depends on runtime execution. Anyone can help me? Thank you very much.

    - by coure06
I want to call a method responsible for drawing text on screen after each 5 seconds. Here is my code -(void) handleTimer: (NSTimer *)timer { CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextSetLineWidth(context, 2.0); CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(context, currentColor.CGColor); CGContextTranslateCTM(context, 145.0, 240.0); CGContextScaleCTM(context, 1.0, -1.0); CGContextSelectFont(context, "Arial", 18, kCGEncodingMacRoman); CGContextSetCharacterSpacing(context, 1); CGContextSetTextDrawingMode(context, kCGTextFillStroke); CGContextSetRGBStrokeColor(context, 0.5,0.5,1,1); CGContextShowTextAtPoint(context, 100, 100, "01", 2); } But after 5 seconds when this method is called i am getting this error CGContextShowTextAtPoint: invalid context Another thing is how to show a thinner font?

  • Initialization problem

    - by zp26
    I have a problem. This is my code. When i try to use the IBAction SavePosition the "arrayPosition" isn't update. Else if i initialize the "arrayPosition" in "SavePosition" the value is stored in the array. Why this anomaly? #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface AccelerometroViewController : UIViewController <UIAccelerometerDelegate, UITextFieldDelegate, UIAlertViewDelegate>{ //..... NSMutableArray *arrayPosizioni; NSMutableArray *arrayPosizioniCorrenti; NSString *nomePosizioneCorrente; } -(IBAction)salvaPosizione; //... @property (nonatomic, assign) NSMutableArray *arrayPosizioni; @property (nonatomic, assign) NSMutableArray *arrayPosizioniCorrenti; @property (nonatomic, assign) NSString *nomePosizioneCorrente; @end #import "AccelerometroViewController.h" #import "Position.h" @implementation AccelerometroViewController float actualX; float actualY; float actualZ; @synthesize arrayPosition; @synthesize arrayCurrentPosition; @synthesize nameCurrentPosition; -(id)init { self = [super init]; if (self != nil) { arrayPosition = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; arrayCurrentPosition = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init]; nameCurrentPosition = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"noPosition"]; actualX = 0; actualY = 0; actualZ = 0; } return self; } -(void)updateTextView:(NSString*)nomePosizione { NSString *string = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", nameCurrentPosition]; textEvent.text = [textEvent.text stringByAppendingString:@"\n"]; textEvent.text = [textEvent.text stringByAppendingString:string]; } -(IBAction)savePosition{ Posizione *newPosition; newPosition = [[Position alloc]init]; if([newPosition setValue:(NSString*)fieldNomePosizione.text:(float)actualX:(float)actualY:(float)actualZ]){ //setValue is a method of Position. I'm sure that this method is correct UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Salvataggio Posizione" message:@"Posizione salvata con successo" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Cancel" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; [arrayPosition addObject:newPosition]; } else{ UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Salvataggio osizione" message:@"Errore nel salvataggio" delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"Cancel" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; } }

  • Using Singleton synchronized array with NSThread

    - by hmthur
I have a books app with a UISearchBar, where the user types any book name and gets search results (from ext API call) below as he types. I am using a singleton variable in my app called retrievedArray which stores all the books. @interface Shared : NSObject { NSMutableArray *books; } @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *books; + (id)sharedManager; @end This is accessed in multiple .m files using NSMutableArray *retrievedArray; ...in the header file retrievedArray = [[Shared sharedManager] books]; My question is how do I ensure that the values inside retrievedArray remain synchronized across all the classes. Actually the values inside retrievedArray gets added through an NSXMLParser (i.e. through external web service API). There is a separate XMLParser.m file, where I do all the parsing and fill the array. The parsing is done on a separate thread. - (void) run: (id) param { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSXMLParser *parser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithContentsOfURL: [self URL]]; [parser setDelegate: self]; [parser parse]; [parser release]; NSString *tmpURLStr = [[self URL]absoluteString]; NSRange range_srch_book = [tmpURLStr rangeOfString:@"v1/books"]; if (range_srch_book.location != NSNotFound) [delegate performSelectorOnMainThread:@selector(parseDidComplete_srch_book) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:YES]; [pool release]; } - (void) parseXMLFile: (NSURL *) url { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; [self setURL: url]; NSThread* myThread = [[NSThread alloc] initWithTarget:self selector:@selector(run:) object: nil]; [retrievedArray removeAllObjects]; [myThread start]; [pool release]; } There seems to be some synchronization issues if the user types very quickly (It seems to be working fine if the user types slowly)....So there are 2 views in which the content of an object in this shared array item is displayed; List and Detail. If user types fast and clicks on A in List view, he is shown B in detail view...That is the main issue. I have tried literally all the solutions I could think of, but am still unable to fix the issue. Please suggest some suitable fixes.

  • Reason why UIImageView gives me a 'distorted' image sometimes

    - by Cedric Vandendriessche
I have a custom UIView with a UILabel and a UIImageView subview. (tried using UIImageView subclass aswell). I assign an image to it and add the view to the screen. I wrote a function which adds the amount of LetterBoxes to the screen as there are letters in the word: - (void)drawBoxesForWord:(NSString *)word { if(boxesContainer == nil) { /* Create a container for the LetterBoxes (animation purposes) */ boxesContainer = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 205, 320, 50)]; [self.view addSubview:boxesContainer]; } /* Calculate width of letterboxes */ NSInteger numberOfCharacters = [word length]; CGFloat totalWidth = numberOfCharacters * 28 + (numberOfCharacters - 1) * 3; CGFloat leftCap = (320 - totalWidth) / 2; [letters removeAllObjects]; /* Draw the boxes to the screen */ for (int i = 0; i < numberOfCharacters; i++) { LetterBox *letter = [[LetterBox alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(leftCap + i * 31 , 0, 28, 40)]; [letters addObject:letter]; [boxesContainer addSubview:letter]; [letter release]; }} This gives me the image below: http://www.imgdumper.nl/uploads2/4ba3b2c72bb99/4ba3b2c72abfd-Goed.png But sometimes it gives me this: imgdumper.nl/uploads2/4ba3b2d888226/4ba3b2d88728a-Fout.png I add them to the same boxesContainer but they first remove themselves from the superview, so it's not like you see them double or something. What I find weird is that they are all good or all bad.. This is the init function for my LetterBox: if (self == [super initWithFrame:aRect]) { /* Create the box image with same frame */ boxImage = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.bounds.size.width, self.bounds.size.height)]; boxImage.contentMode = UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit; boxImage.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"SpaceOpen.png"]; [self addSubview:boxImage]; /* Create the label with same frame */ letterLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.bounds.size.width, self.bounds.size.height)]; letterLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; letterLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName:@"ArialRoundedMTBold" size:26]; letterLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; letterLabel.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentCenter; [self addSubview:letterLabel]; } return self;} Does anyone have an idea why this could be? I'd rather have them display correctly every time :)

  • GKSession sendDataToAllPeers including sendee?

    - by Typeoneerror
I've got a number of devices connected over wifi using GameKit. I have a simple UIAlertView popping up when peers receive data. All but the sendee show this alert view when data is sent, so I'm wondering if that's a bug in my app or if that's expected behavior. Should call a method manually at the same on the sendee device? For example, if I wanted to send a "GameStart" packet to the 4 phones, the peers would call startGame: in the receiveData:fromPeer:inSession:context: method when it receives that packet and the sendee would just sendData and call startGame: on itself. Does that sound right or is there a way to include the sendee in the sendData list so that it responds exactly the same as all connected peers?

  • How to save objects using Multi-Threading in Core Data?

    - by Konstantin
I'm getting some data from the web service and saving it in the core data. This workflow looks like this: get xml feed go over every item in that feed, create a new ManagedObject for every feed item download some big binary data for every item and save it into ManagedObject call [managedObjectContext save:] Now, the problem is of course the performance - everything runs on the main thread. I'd like to re-factor as much as possible to another thread, but I'm not sure where I should start. Is it OK to put everything (1-4) to the separate thread?

  • What is faster? Drawing or Compositing?

    - by mystify
I make extensive use of -drawRect: to do some nice animations. A timer tries to fire 30 times per second with -setNeedsDisplay, but it feels like just 20 times. Also I can't use -setNeedsDisplayInRect: because the animation covers the entire thing. Would it help to take some of those drawing operations out of -drawRect: and move them to a subview? -drawRect has to do less then, but instead the OS will have more work with compositing views. Is there a rule of thumb which one is more worse? I remember from an apple text that they claimed Core Animation doesn't redraw during animation. So is that their secret of speed? Using subviews in animations?

  • Show UIView for app presentation only once in iOS

    - by André Muniz
I need to show an UIScrollView with some pages for present the app to user when launched for the first time. My slides are working correctly, lefting the logic to present it. Is a good practice to set the UIScrollViewController as root controller and set a NSUserDefault variable to control the presentation and redirect to main controller or set the main ViewController as root normally and call the presentation view if needed is a better approach? If there is a better way to do this can someone help? Thanks.

  • How To Load Images into Custom UITableViewCell?

    - by Clifton Burt
This problem is simple, but crucial and urgent. Here's what needs to be done: load 66px x 66px images into the table cells in the MainViewController table. each TableCell has a unique image. But how? Would we use cell.image?... cell.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"image.png"]; If so, where? Is an if/else statement required? Help? Here's the project code, hosted on Google Code, for easy and quick reference... http://www.google.com/codesearch/p?hl=en#Fcn2OtVUXnY/trunk/apple-sample-code/NavBar/NavBar/MyCustomCell.m&q=MyCustomCell%20lang:objectivec To load each cell's labels, MainViewController uses an NSDictionary and NSLocalizedString like so... //cell one menuList addObject:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: NSLocalizedString(@"PageOneTitle", @""), kTitleKey, NSLocalizedString(@"PageOneExplain", @""), kExplainKey, nil]]; //cell two menuList addObject:[NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: NSLocalizedString(@"PageOneTitle", @""), kTitleKey, NSLocalizedString(@"PageOneExplain", @""), kExplainKey, nil]]; ... // this is where MainViewController loads the cell content - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { MyCustomCell *cell = (MyCustomCell*)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:kCellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[MyCustomCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier:kCellIdentifier] autorelease]; } ... // MyCustomCell.m adds the subviews - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)aRect reuseIdentifier:(NSString *)identifier { self = [super initWithFrame:aRect reuseIdentifier:identifier]; if (self) { // you can do this here specifically or at the table level for all cells self.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator; // Create label views to contain the various pieces of text that make up the cell. // Add these as subviews. nameLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero]; // layoutSubViews will decide the final frame nameLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; nameLabel.opaque = NO; nameLabel.textColor = [UIColor blackColor]; nameLabel.highlightedTextColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; nameLabel.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:18]; [self.contentView addSubview:nameLabel]; explainLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero]; // layoutSubViews will decide the final frame explainLabel.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; explainLabel.opaque = NO; explainLabel.textColor = [UIColor grayColor]; explainLabel.highlightedTextColor = [UIColor whiteColor]; explainLabel.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:14]; [self.contentView addSubview:explainLabel]; //added to mark where the thumbnail image should go imageView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 66, 66)]; [self.contentView addSubview:imageView]; } return self; } HELP?
