  • Mobile Safari Youtube opened via javascript

    We have a youtube player embedded in a plage in Mobile Safari and it works great. But we need to be able to launch the youtube player by a means other than user tapping the video itself, for various reasons. So I am trying to figure out what event to trigger in javascript to make it happen with no luck. None of the following appear to work. var vid = document.getElementById('vid'); vid.click(); vid.onclick(); vid.ontouchend(); vid.ontouchstart(); vid.focus(); I tried to find an event handler added to the embedded object with this snippet, but didn't find anything. for (var key in vid) { if (typeof vid[key] == 'function') console.log(key +': '+ vid[key]); } Is this just so wrapped up in a custom plugin there is no way?

  • MVC, can model save/load its data?

    Quick question, my data model is a singleton object and it contains a list of names I want archive. My idea is to make the model responsible for loading / saving this data. The ModelLoad will then be called by the ViewControllerviewDidLoad and the ModelSave by ViewControllerapplicationWillTerminate. I could do the load / save directly within the ViewController, but this would be messy as the list of names are on instance variable of the model. gary

  • Searching with a UISearchbar is slow and blocking the main thread.

    I have a Table with over 3000 entries and searching is very slow. I suspect that I will need to use threading instead, but I do not have much experience with it.

  • iOS Facebook SDK: FBRequestDelegate only works on AppDelegate??

    Hi guys, I want to encapsulate all my Facebook interactions within a FacebookFacade class to keep things clean and tidy. I have an instance of the iOS SDK Facebook class within my FacebookFacade. My problem is that when I make a Graph API call within the facade, such as: [self.facebook requestWithGraphPath:@"me" andDelegate:self]; the only method of FBRequestDelegate that gets called is requestLoading: and nothing else. I have tried putting similar code in other places, like in controllers and other models, and there too not all of the FBRequestDelegate methods get called, only requestLoading:. In fact the only way I can get the other FBRequestDelegate methods to be called is to put all my Facebook logic in the AppDelegate and make my AppDelegate the FBRequestDelegate. Why is this the case? Am I missing something here? I definitely do not want to use the AppDelegate as my FBRequestDelegate as I don't want to confuse the purpose of the AppDelegate. Thanks.

  • UI View Controller crashes after interruption

    Given the multitasking of iOS I thought it wouldn't be a pain to pause and resume my app, by pressing the home button or due to a phone call, but for a particular view controller it crashes. The navigation bar is working fine i.e. when I tap "Back" it's ok, but if I try to tap controls of the displayed UI View Controller then I get EXC_BAD_ACCESS.. =/ Please find the code of my problematic View Controller below. I'm not very sure about it myself, because I used loadView to build its View, but apart from this interruption problem it works fine.   • Strategy to keep track of stored files in the documents directory?

    In my app, the user can save his input to disk. This is done with NSKeyedArchiver. Currently I simply name my files with a timestamp. But of course, the user may want to load one of them back in to keep on editing them. What would be the most reliable / safe strategy to keep track of those files? I need to present the user a list of those files, so that he can choose one to open. Currently I think of making an archived NSMutableArray which simply stores the file names, but I feel that this strategy is not really good. We all know when we save files sometimes something goes wrong, and this seems very likely to get currupted easily, or not? How would you do it?

    i've got a problem and i hope someone can solve it. I parsed some html to a nsstring and im trying to trim all of the characters and keep some specific words. NSString *clientFirstName = (NSString *)ABRecordCopyValue(person, kABPersonFirstNameProperty); The 'analyse' feature on Xcode is saying that this giving rise to a potential memory leak. I am not releasing clientFirstName at all as I have neither alloc or retain'd it. However, I am conscious that ABRecordCopyValue may not be returning an object as say a command like [NSMutableArray arrayWithArray:someArray] would which might mean I am indeed creating a new object that I control and must release.     Hi, I'm trying to create an index representing the first letter value of each record in a Core Data store to be used in a table view controller. I'm using a snippet of the code from Apple's documentation. I would simply like to produce an array or dictionary of distinct values as the result. My store already has the character defined within each record object. Questions: 1) I'm having a problem understanding NSDictionaryResultType. Where does the resulting dictionary object get received so that I can assign it's keys to the view controller? The code seems to only return an array. 2) If I include the line containing NSDictionaryResultType, I get no returns. 3) I realize that I could do this in a loop, but I'm hoping this will work.   • How to properly set relationships in Core Data when using setValue and data already exists

    Let's say I have two objects: Articles and Categories. For the sake of this example all relevant categories have already been added to the data store. When looping through data that holds edits for articles, there is category relationship information that needs to be saved. I was planning on using the -setValue method in the Article class in order to set the relationships like so: - (void)setValue:(id)value forUndefinedKey:(NSString *)key { if([key isEqualToString:@"categories"]){ NSLog(@"trying to set categories..."); } } The problem is that value isn't a Category, it is just a string (or array of strings) holding the title of a category. I could certainly do a lookup within this method for each category and assign it, but that seems inefficient when processing a whole bunch of articles at once. Another option is to populate an array of all possible categories and just filter, but my question is where to store that array? Should it be a class method on Article? Is there a way to pass in additional data to the -setValue method? Is there another, better option for setting the relationship I'm not thinking of? Thanks for your help.

    Hi, Everyone: I'm using a sqlite3 database to store app's data. Instead of building a database within program, I introduced an existing db file: 'abc.sqlite' into my project and put it under my 'Resources' folder. So, I think this db file should be inside of 'bundle', so at my init function, I used following statement to read it out: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"abc" ofType:"sqlite"]; if(sqlite3_open([path UTF8String], &database) != SQLITE_OK) ... It's ok that this db can be opened and data can be retrieved from it. BUT, someone told me that it's better to copy this db file into user folder: such as 'Document'. So, my question is: is it ok to use this db from main bundle directly or copy it to user folder then use that copy. Which is better? Thank you very much!

    I am working on a simple app tab-bar based application that has two views. The first is the main application and the second is a simple instruction screen. What I am trying to do is create a update a label on that second screen as things change in the main app. Because the second screen is only simple with one label and some text I am not unloading it once its loaded. After the first viewDidLoad I can update the label just fine, but after that is there a way to catch successive view switches from the tab-bar menu so I can update the label? many thanks gary

  • Remove year component from NSDateFormatter style

    I would like to present a date in the kCFDateFormatterFullStyle, but without the year. Is there any way to remove the year component from this style? My app requires localization so practically I cannot programmatically set the format string for all locales. I have come accross a solution which removes the "y" characters from the format string returned by the built in styles. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable as the year components are not represented by "y" in some other languages like Japanese. Any suggestions to get the kCFDateFormatterFullStyle without the year would be great! Thanks.

    I'd like to ensure that certain maintenance tasks are executed "eventually". For example, after I detect that some resources might no longer be used in a cache, I might call: [self performSelector:@selector(cleanupCache) withObject:nil afterDelay:0.5]; However, there might be numerous places where I detect this, and I don't want to be calling cleanupCache continuously.
