  On 3rd of Nov 2012 somebody started this thread : http://forums.hostgator.com/advice-needed-new-account-t214566.html?t=214566 subject "Advice needed on new account". I visited it on 5th and when I saw the total views I was stunned to see figure of 80,000( while other threads were having views from 50-300). I even made a post using name of rag_gupta. Then I simply typed in Google in IE (I work on Firefox) : Advice needed on new account ---- and yes this same page was in no#1 position. Subsequently I tried to create similar wording article in Hubpages to see how it'd fare. Unfortunately it was not allowed to be published. Then I published in blogger.com. But hardly any hits. Considering only the first two posts in the thread what could have driven google to rank it highly?

• Microsoft Sync. Framework with Azure on iOS

  A bit of a revelation this evening. I discovered something obvious, but missing from my understanding of the brilliant iOS example that ships with the Sync. Framework 4.0CTP It seems that on the server side if a record is edited, correctly only the fields that are modified gets sent down to your device (in my case an iPad). I was previously just blindly assuming that I'd get all fields down. So, what significant lost advances that happened on a side track should be revived in the main stream of software? These would be ideas that worked well in their context but a different context appeared and became dominant the context, even though it lacked the idea. It maybe that in the new dominant context one just cannot do something or it requires great effort to be exerted.

  As some of you already know, today is my last day at Scottrade. It has been a great place to work and I'll miss all the relationships I've formed over the last 5 years immensely! Starting Monday, I will be taking a new position at Amazon.com in Seattle. It should be an exciting new adventure and I look forward to sharing more about my experiences in the days to come! I do intend to continue blogging (after the move settles down) about C# as I'm able, and may mix in some Java as well as I rekindle (Amazon? Kindle? Get it? Okay, that was lame, I know...) my knowledge of the language for my new job responsibilities. I'll miss all the relationships I've developed with the .NET community in St. Louis and the surrounding area, and hope to come back sometime to participate in future Days of .NET conferences, if able! • Handle all authentication logic in database or code?

  We're starting a new(ish) project at work that has been handed off to me. A lot of the database sided stuff has been fleshed out, including some stored procedures. One of the stored procedures, for example, handles creation of a new user. All of the data is validated in the stored procedure (for example, password must be at least 8 characters long, must contain numbers, etc) and other things, such as hashing the password, is done in the database as well. Is it normal/right for everything to be handled in the stored procedure instead of the application itself? It's nice that any application can use the stored procedure and have the same validation, but the application should have a standard framework/API function that solves the same problem. I also feel like it takes away the data from the application and is going to be harder to maintain/add new features to.

While I am able to create MSI files using InstallShield, it seems that Visual Studio no longer supports Merge Module Projects, judging by the link below and the screenshot of my version of Visual Studio 2013 - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/z6z02ts5(v=vs.80).aspx To create a new merge module project: On the File menu, point to Add, then click New Project. I want to remove them from Google's index using the noindex tag, but I'm not sure what the best approach will be to send the same traffic to my new article on the subject without using a redirect (as I want to keep them in my blog archives). I was intending to just put a link at the top of the article pointing to the new one, but was wondering if it was appropriate to use a canonical tag instead; the new article is on the same subject but doesn't contain the same content, so isn't really a copy.

• movement of sprites with kinect and xna

  im working on a proyect with kinect sdk and xna 4.0. i need take the position of the hands and draw a sprite over it. im doing it directly and, because of that, i get a "trembling hands" effect. so, i was thinking on make the sprite move from the previous position to the new one, given in every frame by the new hand position. this way, the sprite does not jump from one position to another. this is working just fine, but im using a constant value for the velocity, and i really would like to use a variable velocity given by the difference between the prev and the new position. this is, if the hand move more quickly in the reality, the velocity will be higher. I really dont have a clue on how to make this works. can somebody point me in the right direction? thanks.

It was an amazing event where we officially launched the new design of Profit and enjoyed a drink with some of our closest friends--Oracle partners, customers, and peers. Many thanks to those who came out to celebrate and who continue to help make Profit a success. It was a great time that resulted in a lot of great new work and new relationships.   I just updated my Ubuntu 14.04 and got a new kernel. This new kernel is not working properly for me so I booted the previous version. Let's call this good old working version "3.13.0-24.47". Now, I want to keep this "3.13.0-24.47" version until I decide to delete it manually. I want to be able to upgrade my kernel each time there is a new version in hope of getting the one which works again. Until then, I want to use the "3.13.0-24.47". I'm afraid that next update will delete my "3.13.0-24.47" version because there are only two kernel versions available at a given time on my system (/boot).

Now more and more people are requestion an App, I told them that I have no time and experience to develope Apps with many functions for such complex communities I am running, but then the users told me what would be enough for them and this sounds already simpler to me: An app to install on Android / iOS just to be able to login (+ autologin), so they appear always online in the community when they have internet connection. Then only 1 function like a counter of new activities regarding their user account (new messages, new replies, etc..), and if they click on the app then a browser window will open to read the info at the main website. So, what you think, it will be a big thing to develope such an app for the members? Is there a big diffrence between developing for Android and iOS? How to test the App if you don't have an Android or iOS phone in example?

• Does Ubuntu 12.04 supports for B75 boards?

  I want to build a new computer with Intel G840 CPU and Gigabyte B75M-D3H motherboard and install Ubuntu (or Kubuntu) 12.04 64bit on it. However, I'm worried about whether the chip is too new and whether that Linux Kernel now has support for it. According to the article [Phoronix] Intel Core i7 3770K Ivy Bridge Linux Performance Review ,the Linux kernel is ready to work on the chip. Existing Intel Sandy Bridge motherboards/chipsets are compatible with Ivy Bridge processors, but earlier this month Intel launched the new Panther Point chipsets that are already compatible with Linux too: the B75, H77, Z75, Z77, HM75, HM76, UM77, and HM77. But I didn't find further information or cases about running Ubuntu on the chip. So,is it OK to run Ubuntu on the board? Do I need to upgrade the kernel to a newer version (3.4 or 3.5 etc.) to get the system more smoothly? Or should I choose boards with H61 chip? Thank for your response!

• A good language for c# dev to expand his mind [closed]

  I have some free time on my hands and I was thinking about learning a new language. I do not plan to use it in my day-to-day job, but I rather want to expand my way of thinking to get a better sense where the dev world is heading from a language perspective and to don't get stuck in my way when programming by rather try new approaches. I was thinking either a functional language, like Haskell or F# (which is a bit more 'pragmatic from a .NET dev standpoint) or something dynamic (like Python, that in my oppinion has nicer syntax than Ruby). What can you recommend that is enjoyable, at least a bit practical, but most of all, new (from a c# dev perspective). I appreciate any answers.
