  • How do I keep windows XP from automatically changing the screen resolution?

    I have an Asus EEEBox (EB202, intel GMA 950) hooked up to my 1080p TV (DVI-HDMI cable). I use it to watch standard definition movies and TV shows. I prefer to run at 1280x720 so that I can see things more easily, but every time I turn off the TV, then back on again, the resolution defaults to 1080p (1920x1080). How can I force a specific resolution? If that's not possible, is there a way to use a batch script to switch to the desired resolution faster?

  • Inbound connections to a ubuntu machine running a VPN

    Is it possible to open inbound connections to a machine connected to a VPN server? The machine is running ubuntu 9.10 with two network devices(a wireless card and ethernet port), I can connect to my machine locally using a local ip but when I try port forward using my router I can't connect from my external ip. Is there a way around this? I figure with 2 network devices I can vpn over one and use the other for inbound connections but I can't figure out how to do this. Thanks

It's possible to remove annoying upstart services which you do not want by removing the appropriate file in /etc/init/blah.conf However, this seems a heavy handed approach. How do you correctly configure upstart to be able to selectively turn these services on and off via the command line?     For an Microsoft Exchange server, is it possible to encrypt the email database such that the sysadmin cannot see the emails? In other words, the admin would be responsible for all aspects of running the Windows server and Exchange process, but would not be able to see the contents of any one email (except those sent to him, obviously). Only another individual (e.g. company owner) would be able to see all emails contained in the database.

On each server i got two network card, with two different network one are on 10.10.10.x and other are on 192.168.99.x I want my sqlserver cluster listen on the two network. Is it possible and how i add new ip address. When i add a new ip address directly in the cluster, and i do a telnet on the 1433 port with the new cluster ip address it's not working. Thanks

    This computer came to my shop for just a simple Windows tuneup, so after doing all my tweaks, I noticed I was getting an error when trying to synchronize with the time server. It wasn't until I was about to give up that I noticed in the calendar that it's one weekday late. Here's a screenshot. As you can see, the day today, Friday - January 7th is a Thursday in the calendar. How is this possible?

  • Find the php script thats sending mails

    Hi, Is there any way for me to find the php script that is sending emails. I have apache+php ( no mod_suphp neither suexec ) in a "standard" install, and i want to find out witch php script is sending emails, when i check the logs i just see the uid of the user that's sending the emails ( in my case apache ) but i want to find out the script that's originated the email. Is it possible or i must install suexec or mod_suphp to keep trac of that ? Thks for the help.

I want to organize my mp3 directories, but any copied file loses its reference from itunes library, thus, when I add it to itunes again, it'll have no rating data. I guess it's possible if I manipulate the itunes xml database, but I really don't want to mess with it "by hand".

  • Any consumer routers with Outgoing VPN support?

    When I'm working at home, I need to be able to connect to three different outgoing VPNs, two of which happen to use the same internal IP addressing schemes (192.168.0.*). I also need a static address for my VirtualBox VM so I can connect to my testing web server. Are there any routers which will allow me to connect to multiple outgoing VPNs and assign different internal IP addresses through NAT? Is such a thing even possible, or are there alternate solutions available? Thanks!

  • Remove OS, but keep documents

    Yesterday I installed an SSD in my MacBook and kept my original HDD with a "data doubler" (replaces the DVD-drive with a hard-drive bay). That means I have my OS (and applications) on both my SSD and HDD. Is it possible to get rid of the OS on the HDD? I think that removing everything but the ~/users-folder from the HDD should solve this problem, right? If not, what is the best solution to achieve this?

We know the machines/labs have to be undeployed and consolidated, which is done for this testing lab. However, what should be the next steps to make this as efficient as possible, as we have a large number of labs to migrate.     I have a fresh install of Windows and a Linux OS that I can't access, how do I fix this? I do not have the .iso/disk for Linux anymore. So I figured, I can install Cygwin and through that install Grub, but I am used to Linux Mint, which uses apt-get. I have used CentOS before which uses rpm, but how do I install and use packages in the Cygwin terminal, and is it possible to install Grub through Cygwin?

  • YouTube music videos and playing in 480p and above

    Does anyone know how I can get YouTube to default to playing music videos in the highest possible quality setting? If for example 480p is available I’d want that automatically selected before the music starts playing. I changed the video playback option to ‘Always choose the best option for me, based on my player size.’ But the quality always defaults to 360p on page load.
