  I tried to compile Qt+Webkit statically with MS VS 2008 and this worked. • How to get the stacktrace in a mobile device?

  I'm getting a NullPointerException in a Nokia S40. I want to know what is causing this exception. The device shows: NullPointerException java/lang/NullPointerException This error only occurs in the device, running in the emulator the application works fine. I use microlog to debug my application. But the application works fine if the log is enabled. Is there a way to get the stack trace when I get this NullPointerException? I don't need all details like the line number just which method cause this exception. UPDATE: I installed the same application in another Nokia S40 and the same error didn't occur. • HTTPService/ResultEvent with Flex 3.2 versus Flex >= 3.5

  Hey everybody, through a design decission or what-so-ever Adobe changed the content of the ResultEvent fired by a HTTPService Object. Take a look at following example: var httpService:HTTPService = myHTTPServices.getResults(); httpService.addEventListener(ResultEvent.RESULT,resultHandler); httpService.send(); /** * Handels the login process */ function resultHandler(event:ResultEvent):void { // get http service var httpService = (event.target as HTTPService); // do something } It works like a charm with Flex 3.2. But when I try to compile it with Flex 3.5 or Flex 4.0 event.target as HTTPService is null. I figured out that event.target is now an instance of HTTPOperation. That is interesting because I can't find HTTPOperation in the langref. However, I think what Flash Builder's debugger means is mx.rpc.http.Operation. The debugger also shows that event.target has a private attribute httpService which is the instance I expected to get with event.target. But it's private, so event.target.httpService doesn't work. If I only want to remove the EventListener I can cast event.target as EventDispatcher. But I need to use methods from HTTPService. So: How can I get the HTTPService instance from the ResultEvent? • FileSystem.GetFiles() + UnauthorizedAccessException error?

  Hello, It seems like FileSystem.GetFiles() is unable to recover from the UnauthorizedAccessException exception that .Net triggers when trying to access an off-limit directory. In this case, does it mean this class/method isn't useful when scanning a whole drive and I should use some other solution (in which case: Which one?)? • Simple Xml list parsing problem

  I have this xml: <root> <fruitlist> <apple>4</apple> <apple>5</apple> <orange>2</orange> <orange>6</orange> </fruitlist> </root> I'm writing a parser class, although I can't figure out how to deal with multiple node types. I can easily parse a list that contains only one node type (eg. just apples, not oranges) @ElementList(name = "fruitlist") private List<Apple> exercises; with more than one node type it also wants so parse non Apple nodes which doesn't work. I also tried to make another list for oranges, but it doen't work, I can't use fruitlist name more than once. @ElementList(name = "fruitlist", entry = "orange") private List<Orange> exercises; The ideal would be two seperate list for both node types. • Entity Framework lazy loading doesn't work from other thread

  Hi, I just found out that lazy loading in Entity Framework only works from the thread that created the ObjectContext. To illustrate the problem, I did a simple test, with a simple model containing just 2 entities : Person and Address. But in TestMultiThread, I get a NullReferenceException on p2.Address.City, because p2.Address is null. It that a bug ? Is this the way it's supposed to work ? If so, is there any documentation mentioning it ? I couldn't find anything on the subject on MSDN or Google... And more importantly, is there a workaround ? (other than explicitly calling LoadProperty from the worker thread...) Any help would be very appreciated PS: I'm using VS2010, so it's EF 4.0. I don't know if it was the same in the previous version of EF...

• Can the same ssh key be used to access two different users on the same server?

  I have an new ubuntu (hardy 8.04) server, it has two users, User1 and User2. User1 is listed in sudoers. I appended my public ssh key to authorized_keys in /home/user1/.ssh/authorized_keys, changed the permissions on user1/.ssh/ to 700 and user1/.ssh/authorized_keys to 600 and both file and folder are owned my User1. Then added I User1 to sshd_config (AllowUsers User1). This works and I can login into User1 debug1: Offering public key: /Users/nick/.ssh/id_rsa debug1: Server accepts key: pkalg ssh-rsa blen 277 debug1: Authentication succeeded (publickey). debug1: channel 0: new [client-session] debug1: Entering interactive session. Last login: Mon Mar 15 09:51:01 2010 from 86.141.61.197 I then copied the authorized_keys file to /home/user2/.shh/ and changed the permissions and ownership and added User2 to AllowUsers in sshd_config (AllowUsers User1 User2). Now when I try to login to User2 it will not authenticate the same public key. debug1: Offering public key: /Users/nick/.ssh/id_rsa debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey debug1: Trying private key: /Users/nick/.ssh/identity debug1: Trying private key: /Users/nick/.ssh/id_dsa debug1: No more authentication methods to try. • C# Static constructors design problem - need to specify parameter

  I have a re-occurring design problem with certain classes which require one-off initialization with a parameter such as the name of an external resource such as a config file. For example, I have a corelib project which provides application-wide logging, configuration and general helper methods. This object could use a static constructor to initialize itself but it need access to a config file which it can't find itself. I can see a couple of solutions, but both of these don't seem quite right: 1) Use a constructor with a parameter. But then each object which requires corelib functionality should also know the name of the config file, so this has to be passed around the application. Also if I implemented corelib as a singleton I would also have to pass the config file as a parameter to the GetInstance method, which I believe is also not right. 2) Create a static property or method to pass through the config file or other external parameter. I have sort of used the latter method and created a Load method which initializes an inner class which it passes through the config file in the constructor. Then this inner class is exposed through a public property MyCoreLib. public static class CoreLib { private static MyCoreLib myCoreLib; public static void Load(string configFile) { myCoreLib = new MyCoreLib(configFile); } public static MyCoreLib MyCoreLib { get { return myCoreLib; } } public class MyCoreLib { private string configFile; public MyCoreLib(string configFile) { this.configFile = configFile; } public void DoSomething() { } } } I'm still not happy though. The inner class is not initialized until you call the load method, so that needs to be considered anywhere the MyCoreLib is accessed. Also there is nothing to stop someone calling the load method again. Any other patterns or ideas how to accomplish this?

  I have a Windows Forms app that itself launches different threads to do different kinds of work. Occasionally, ALL threads (including the UI thread) become frozen, and my app becomes unresponsive. I've decided it may be a Garbage Collector-related issue, as the GC will freeze all managed threads temporarily. • Automating ftp command line application redirecting I/O in .Net

What I'm doing is starting the process from my application and trying to read what the client prints on the screen and sending my commands to it. The problem is that I can not read almost any data sent by the ftp client. Some data is present but most data is not read. That's the code I have until now.   I know there's a Rest API to check the Twitter rate limit. To summarize policy: 150 for an IP, and 150 per non-whitelisted account except for searches (which are IP only). However, my app is using Twython, authenticated, but the limit seems to decrease for both my accounts as I use it. • Can I trigger PHP garbage collection to happen automatically if I have circular references?

  I seem to recall a way to setup the __destruct for a class in such a way that it would ensure that circular references would be cleaned up as soon as the outside object falls out of scope. However, the simple test I built seems to indicate that this is not behaving as I had expected/hoped. Is there a way to setup my classes in such a way that PHP would clean them up correctly when the outermost object falls out of scope? I am not looking for alternate ways to write this code, I am looking for whether or not this can be done, and if so, how?   In my program I need to create sockets and bind them to listen HTTP port (80). The program works fine when I launch it from command line with sudo, escalating permissions to root. Running under XCode gives a 'permission denied' error on the call to binding function (asio::ip::tcp::acceptor::bind()). How can I do debugging under XCode? All done in C++ and boost.asio on Mac OS X 10.5 with XCode 3.1.2.
