• a missing variable in a switch statement ?!!

  hi folks, i have a strange issue. a variable seems to be missing during a pass through a case statement i have a function like so function checklink($var0, $var1, $var2) { switch($var0) { case "case1": print $var2; //code uses $var2 successfully case "case2": print $var2; //variable has disappeared! } } essentially what i am doing is constructing a string from the last variable based on the first. if i run the code in which the first case is true, i get the expected results, but when i run the second case, my variable seems to have vanished. these first two case statements are syntactically the same and the variable is gathered from the $_GET array (hard coded into hyperlink). any light on this issue? if more explanation is needed let me know, its late and my brain is getting mushy. thanks my friends.

  Hi, I am getting java.io.EOFException while reading a binary block from lucene index. I am storing java object as byte-array in lucene index field and reading it when hit occurs. Here is stack trace : Caused by: java.io.EOFException at java.io.ObjectInputStream$PeekInputStream.readFully(ObjectInputStream.java:2281) at java.io.ObjectInputStream$BlockDataInputStream.readShort(ObjectInputStream.java:2750) at java.io.ObjectInputStream.readStreamHeader(ObjectInputStream.java:780) at java.io.ObjectInputStream.(ObjectInputStream.java:280) at org.terracotta.modules.searchable.util.SerializationUtil$OIS.(SerializationUtil.java:20) I have some background threads which write into index. But i buffer them and then write them at once like 1000. Occasionally I also issue optimize() on index. When I write, I am re-opening IndexReader. • fql query problem in php

  I want to fetch the names of users on facebook. For that, I tried using FQL query. The code is, $result = $facebook->api_client->fql_query("SELECT name FROM user WHERE uid='$user_id'); But there is some problem with this. I guess the query is not getting executed or it is returning null values. I also tried using users.getInfo as follows, $result = $facebook->api_client->users_getInfo($user_id,'name'); But again, the same problem. I tried to display the array as, echo $result['name]; So, I tried both the codes as, if(!$facebook->api_client->fql_query("SELECT name FROM user WHERE uid='$user_id')) { echo "Error."; } I have included both facebook.php and facebookapi_php5_restlib.php in my php file. • How to preselect nodes using jsTree jQuery plug-in

  I am using the jsTree jQuery plug-in with its "Checkbox" plug-in and using an async http request to lazy-load each level of the tree. All works great, except that I cannot get the tree to pre-select certain nodes after the first level. I am using the "selected" attribute to provide an array of ID's to preselect. ID's in the top level of the tree are correctly pre-selected. However, ID's in lower levels of the tree are not selected when the level loads. Am I missing something? • In Adobe Air, how do I pull an image from a sqlite database that was created with .net?

  We have the need to create a sqlite database that contains images. The database is created using .net. After the db is created we need to use an air application to pull the images from the sqlite db created with c#. The database is created fine and Air can read all but the BLOB field which contains a bytearray created from an image in .net. My assumption is that the .net bytearray is not compatible with the actionscript bytearray because the actionscript byte array is encoded using the AMF protocol and the .net bytearray is not.

• Connecting to a WCF Service in PHP that has a a NetTCP Binding and a BasicHttpBinding

  I have a WCF service. It has multiple clients and three endpoints. The endpoint bindings are nettcp, wsHttp and basicHttp. If I attempt to connect to it via php'd builtin SoapClient class like so: $service = new SoapClient ("http://service.companyname.local:6666/Service/?wsdl", array( "location" => "http://service.companyname.local:6666/Service/Basic", "trace" => true, 'soap_version' => SOAP_1_1 ) ); I get the following: PHP Fatal error: SOAP-ERROR: Parsing WSDL: PHP-SOAP doesn't support transport 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/soap/tcp' in c:\www\client.php on line 666 Right now my workaround is to save the wsdl manually and remove the nettcp binding. Is there a workaround that will allow me to use the automatically generated wsdl? Can I hide a binding from the wsdl in web.config? Can I generate different wsdls on different bindings. I don't want to deploy two service hosts.

I have an implementation of a N-Ary Tree and I want to find out the memory layout of my data structure. What is the best way to come up with a memory layout like the one in the article? Secondly, I think it is easier to identify the memory layout if it is an array based implementation. If the implementation of a Tree uses pointers then what Tools do we have or what kind of approach is required to map it's memory layout? Thanks!

• Best practices for fixed-width processing in .NET

  I'm working a .NET web service that will be processing a text file with a relatively long, multilevel record format. Each record in the file represents a different entity; the record contains multiple sub-types. (The same record format is currently being processed by a COBOL job, if that gives you a better picture of what we're looking at). I've created a class structure (a DATA DIVISION if you will) to hold the input data. My question is, what best practices have you found for processing large, complex fixed-width files in .NET? My general approach will be to read the entire line into a string and then parse the data from the string into the classes I've created. But I'm not sure whether I'll get better results working with the characters in the string as an array, or with the string itself. I guess that's the specific question, string vs. char[], but I would appreciate any other pointers anyone has. Thanks.

• accessing $_SESSION when using file_get_contents in PHP

  I am basic - intermediate developer using php and am a little stumped as to what I have found. I need some help in understanding how to alleviate this issue: I have a page called send.email.php which sends an email - pretty simple stuff - I pass an order id, it creates job request and sends it out. This works fine when used in the context I developed it (Use javascript to make an AJAX call to the URL and pass the order_id as a query parameter) I am now trying to reuse the exact same page in another application however I am calling it using php file_get_contents($base_url.'admin/send.email.php?order_id='.$order_id). When I call the page this way, the $_SESSION array is empty isempty() = 1. Is this because I am initiating a new session using file_get_contents and the values I stored in the $_SESSION on login are not available to me within there? Any help? Thanks

• Undefined Results in jQuery Autocomplete

  So I've got the latest versions of jQuery and UI running. I can watch the results returned via Firebug and the JSON is correct there as well. Also, while the list only says "undefined" it does say that the same number of times as records returned in JSON. • Prototyping Object in Javascript breaks jQuery?

  I have added a simple .js to my page that has some pretty mundane common-task sort of functions added to the Object and Array prototypes. Through trial and error I've figured out that adding any function to Object.prototype, no matter it's name or what it does causes javascript errors in jQuery: The culprit? Object.prototype.foo = function() { /*do nothing and break jQuery*/ }; The error I'm getting line 1056 of jquery-1.3.2.js, in the attr:function { } declaration: /*Object doesn't support this property or method*/ name = name.replace(/-([a-z])/ig, function(all, letter) { return letter.toUpperCase(); }); Apparently G.replace is undefined. While it's obvious that there's something I'm just not wrapping my head around with prototyping, I'm failing miserably to figure out what it is. To be clear, I'm not looking for a workaround, I have that handled... what I'm looking for is an answer to 'Why?'. Why does adding a function to Object.prototype break this bit of code?

• Mixing inheritance mapping strategies in NHibernate

  I have a rather large inheritance hierarchy in which some of the subclasses add very little and others add quite a bit. I don't want to map the entire hierarchy using either "table per class hierarchy" or "table per subclass" due to the size and complexity of the hierarchy. Ideally I'd like to mix mapping strategies such that portions of the hierarchy where the subclasses add very little are combined into a common table a la "table per class hierarchy" and subclasses that add a lot are broken out into a separate table. Using this approach, I would expect to have 2 or 3 tables with very little wasted space instead of either 1 table with lots of fields that don't apply to most of the objects, or 20+ tables, several of which would have only a couple of columns. In the NHibernate Reference Documentation version 2.1.0, I found section 8.1.4 "Mixing table per class hierarchy with table per subclass". This approach switches strategies partway down the hierarchy by using: ... <subclass ...> <join ...> <property ...> ... </join> </subclass> ... This is great in theory. In practice, though, I found that the schema was too restrictive in what was allowed inside the "join" element for me to be able to accomplish what I needed.   I have a WPF BitmapImage which I loaded from a .JPG file, as follows: this.m_image1.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri(path)); I want to query as to what the colour is at specific points. For example, what is the RGB value at pixel (65,32)? How do I go about this? I was taking this approach: ImageSource ims = m_image1.Source; BitmapImage bitmapImage = (BitmapImage)ims; int height = bitmapImage.PixelHeight; int width = bitmapImage.PixelWidth; int nStride = (bitmapImage.PixelWidth * bitmapImage.Format.BitsPerPixel + 7) / 8; byte[] pixelByteArray = new byte[bitmapImage.PixelHeight * nStride]; bitmapImage.CopyPixels(pixelByteArray, nStride, 0); Though I will confess there's a bit of monkey-see, monkey do going on with this code. Anyway, is there a straightforward way to process this array of bytes to convert to RGB values?

• Dns.GetHostEntry returns multiple IP addresses

  This question probably highlights a lack of understanding of networking principals on my part, rather than a programming issue. I'm doing a lookup on a hostname using Dns.GetHostEntry This returns an IPHostEntry to me, which has an AddressList property which is an array of IPAddress. I always thought there is a 1 to 1 mapping between hostname and IP, but I'm finding that in some cases I get back several IPAddress(es) for the same host. This is a surprise to me. Which part of domain name resolution do I not understand?

  I am creating a Stratego Game and am having trouble creating an algorithm that can detect when there are no more possible moves because all your pieces are gone or the remaining pieces are unmovable or trapped by forbidden squares, unmovable pieces, or other trapped pieces. For simplicity you can think of the board as an array of Squares which can contain pieces. Square[][] gameBoard = new Square[10][10] Squares have easily checkable state such as hasPiece(), hasEnemyPiece(), hasUnMovablePiece(), hasMoveablePiece(), isBlocked(). It would also probably be nice if this algorithm wasn't run every time a player moved but maybe checked in the beginning and then only certain conditions were checked when the player moved.

• How to retrive only one cell from MySQL table with PHP

  I'm trying to create a forgotten password form that emails users their password. I'm having a problem, though, with the actual password part. You see, I have the email and comparing the email correct, except whenever I send the email I always get either "Your password is ." or "Your password is Array". I'm using: $check_email = mysql_num_rows(mysql_query("SELECT email FROM userRecovery WHERE email = '$to'")); if($check_email == 1){ $qtip = mysql_query("SELECT password FROM userRecovery WHERE email = '$to'"); $theirPassword = mysql_fetch_array($qtip); Rest of the Code... } I used to be able to do this correctly, but I haven't done PHP or MySQL in too long so it's slightly annoying (that, and I'm at a beginner-intermediate kind of level). I remember having this exact problem, but I don't have the code with me to find out what I did. If you think I left out a detail, please say so. Any help if appreciated.
