• Scrolling png with text & alpha on top of a static UIImageView

  I have a view controller that has a view structure as follows: FilesOwner FirstResponder View ImageView (.jpg) ScrollView ImageView (.png) The text in the innermost imageview has white text and clear (alpha) all around. I want to scroll the innermost imageview, and see the background image (the .jpg) behind it. Its not working. Its acting like the scrollview background obscures the underneath .jpg. I say this because if I change the background color of the scrollview, that's what I see i.e. if I set it black, I see black behind my .png, if I set it white, I see white. If I change the alpha of the scrollview that doesn't seem to work either. The one other thing I tried was unchecking drawing: Opaque, but that doesn't get it either.

• OTA plist app install from within phonegap app for iPad

  I am trying to initiate a OTA app install from within a phonegap iPad app. I have tried this: var url = "http://www.example.com/test.plist"; window.open("itms-services://?action=download-manifest&url=" + url, "_blank"); This works in iOS 5 but NOT iOS 6. I have also tried using the ChildBrowser plugin to point to a page with a link to the OTA app install but that doesn't work either. (If I visit the webpage directly from within the native iPad browser, it works fine) Does anyone know how I can initiate a OTA app install from within the phonegap iPad app? (must work in iOS 5 and iOS 6) I am trying to implement an auto update feature within a Ad-Hock iPad app (not through App Store). So when the app detects that there is a new update, it will prompt the user to install the new update and thats where I need this functionality.

• Add UIBarButtonItem in interface builder, how to?

  I have a navigation based application that have a uinavigataioncontroller containing uitableviewcontrollers. I want to add buttons to the UINavigationbar of the uinavigataioncontroller, usually I write code to add these buttons, something like this: UIBarButtonItem *saveButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemSave target:self action:@selector(saveClicked:)]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = saveButton; [saveButton release]; My idea now was to use interface builder instead. But I'm not sure how to do it. What I'm trying to do is to add a UINavigationItem in the xib file of the viewcontroller (my viewcontroller is called TextViewController), something like this: See this image: http://i48.tinypic.com/qq5yk7.jpg But how can I make TextViewController use the UINavigationItem I added? The button I add doesn't show in the navigationbar. Any ideas on how to do this? What am I missing?

• Using ClaimsPrincipalPermissionAttribute, how do I catch the SecurityException?

  In my MVC application I have a Controller Action that Deletes a customer, which I'm applying Claims Based Authorization to using WIF. Problem: if someone doesn't have access they see an exception in the browser (complete with stacktrace), but I'd rather just redirect them. • Setting the content-type of requests performed by jQuery jqGrid

  I am using the latest version of jqGrid: 3.6.4 This seems like a simple problem (or at least it did before I spent a few hours on it): When the grid sends a request to the server (to a controller action), its content-type is always: application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8 and I would like it to be: application/json; charset=utf-8 but I can find no way of setting the content-type (there is no contentType option as you would find on a $.ajax call for example). So just to clarify, I am not asking how to set the content-type on a jQuery server request, but specifically using jqGrid, which does not provide an obvious option for doing this. Thanks, Nigel.

• TFS and code coverage for web application (MVC) assemblies not working

  I've got an MVC web application with associated controller tests that run under a TFS build as per normal. I can see the tests running and passing in the build log and they appear in the "Result details for Any CPU/Release" section of the build I also have a number of other assemblies with associated tests that are running in the same build. Tests are passing and the details are being shown in the results and logs just fine. I've enabled code coverage in the build script and the testrunconfig. The coverage is appearing for all assemblies EXCEPT the web application even though it looks like the tests have been run for it. Is there anything obvious that I have missed or some sort of work around that I need to do? I've searched around for a while and haven't found an answer. Has anyone got code coverage working for MVC web applications?

• Couldn't get connection factory client - fighting with Google Maps

  another day another problem, I finally managed to set up correctly google maps on my android application, or at least I thought I've done it, the whole progam starts, it even call the class which should "print" a map, but the only thing I can see is a grid with google label on it [ in the corner ]. I've checked the dalvik monitor and the error E/MapActivity(394): Couldn't get connection factory client occurs. I've find out on stackoverflow website that I should sent a gps signal or sth like this from dalvik monitor, and I've done it. • How do you handle the deletion of your model working with ViewModels and keeping them in sync ?

  Hello, these could be my entity relations: 1 Pupil has 1 Chair 1 Pupil has N Documents 1 Pupil has N Marks 1 Pupil has N IncidentReports etc... So with that sample I get 4 IEnumerable from my database put each into an ObservableCollection. Now I have 4 different Views each bound to one of those 4 collections. Lets assume I delete a single PupilViewModel in the AdministrationController which is the only View where I can delete a PupilViewModel. Now I have to inform 3 other Controller and their ObservableCollections about the one deleted PupilViewModel to keep the whole application synchronized... thats stupid somehow. Do you have any good advice on that scenario? AND it gets even worse. If I delete a schoolclass I have to sync the pupils everywhere AND the documents or incidentreports or marks... gush... o_O

  I recently downloaded the Open Flash Chart source code and I have intergrated it into my Zend MVC.Since I use the autoloader I have renamed my files and commented the "require_once" source lines. My controller returns the JSON string which I expect to be rendered. What am I missing?

• Doctrine lazy loading classes takes 100 ms?!

I have 118 tables in total, but still... setting attribute to conservative loading: Doctrine_Manager::getInstance()->setAttribute(Doctrine::ATTR_MODEL_LOADING, Doctrine::MODEL_LOADING_CONSERVATIVE); running the benchmark part: $CI->benchmark->mark('Doctrineload_start'); Doctrine::loadModels(APPPATH.'models'); $CI->benchmark->mark('Doctrineload_end'); And the result: Doctrineload 0.1085 (seconds) Is this 'normal'?   In my Core Data app I am using a FetchedResultsController. Usually to set titles for headers in a UITableView you would implement the following method like so: - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { id <NSFetchedResultsSectionInfo> sectionInfo = [[<#Fetched results controller#> sections] objectAtIndex:section]; return [sectionInfo name]; } where [sectionInfo name] returns a NSString. my sectionKeyPath is based on an NSDate and this all works fine apart from the section headers it gives me are the raw date description strings (e.g. 12/12/2009 12:32:32 +0100) which look a bit of a mess in a header! So I want to use a date formatter on this to make a nice header like "Apr 17 2010" but I can't do that with the [sectionInfo name] as this is NSString! Any Ideas? Many Thanks

• jQuery ajaxForm returning .json file

  I've got a model creation form in rails which I also have returning JSON through ajax. My code so far look like: $('#new_stem').ajaxForm({ //#new_stem is my form dataType: 'json', success: formSuccess }); function formSuccess(stemObj) { //does stuff with stemObj } And I have a multipart form with a file uploader (but I'm not sure if that is relevant). When I submit the form it works fine (my models are properly being created and renders as json), but instead of the json getting handled by the formSuccess function, it prompts a download for "stems.json" (the path to my stem creation action) in Firefox. What would cause this to happen, and what could solve it? Not sure if this is part of the problem, but I don't have a submit button in my form, I have a link with a click handler that calls $('#new_stem).submit() Thanks guys!

• What is technically more advanced: Python or Assembler? [closed]

  I wondered which of these languages is more powerful. With powerful I don't mean the readability, assembler would be naturally the winner here, but something resulting from, for example, the following factors: Which of them is more high-level? (Both aren't really but one has to be more) Who would be the possibly fastest in compiled state? (There is no Python compiler out there as far as I know but it wouldn't be hard writing one I suppose) Which of the both has the better code length/code action ratio? What I mean is If you get to distracted by the, compared to Python, improved readability of assembler, just think of writing plain binary/machine code as what assembler assembles to. Both languages are so basic that it should be possible to answer the question(s) in a rather objective view, I hope.

I checked in the debugger, it shows that the picker is allocated, but here is the major difference between my and success one. picker._imagepickerflag.visible = 0; //others show 1; picker.UINavigationController._containerView: 0x0 ; // others have value. • Has glassfish 2.1.1 a bug handling http request and handle them twice?

  I'm using glassfish 2.1.1. I've watched a mysterious http/webservice-call handling. It seams an http request is handled by two different threads. After http basic authentication the first thread is faster. Persisting some data end, but writing response fails in glassfish internal. The second thread fails, because it tries to persist identical data and there are (unique) constrain failures. The response (the failure) of second thread was delivered to client. I don't won't discuss the behavior with the unique constrain failure. I've improve the webservice, so it can handle this better, because it could be happen anytime, that the client send the ws call a second time. But I think, glassfish 2.1.1 has an bug handling http request. Is there any known issue? Have I done an mistake? • iphone OS 3.1.3 requires snow leopard upgrade

  itunes asked me to upgrade my iphone's OS to 3.1.3, so I complied naively. then xcode told me that the latest iphone OS version it could support was 3.1.2. So I went to download a new version from https://developer.apple.com/iphone/index.action#downloads, xcode 3.2.2 with iphone SDK. but when i went to install that, i was told I needed snow leopard 10.6.2 or later. so I'm just making sure that I am not misinterpreting anything when I say that, given that it is impossible to downgrade iphone OS versions without jailbreaking, I need to install a new version of the OS just so I can resume testing apps on my iphone?

  Hi guys, i have a form which allows the user to key in the data and then submit. if everything works well on this action result, then i will redirect the user back to a thank you page. my problem right now is that when the user click on the back button, they will be able to go back to the form page and the inputs will still be there. and if the user just click on submit again, i will be getting some potential weird bugs. so in terms of asp.net mvc, what's the best way to handle users who click on the back button? thanks!

  I have a model User and when I create one, I want to pragmatically setup some API keys and what not, specifically: @user.apikey = Digest::MD5.hexdigest(BCrypt::Password.create("jibberish").to_s) I want to be able to run User.create!(:email=>"[email protected]") and have it create a user with a randomly generated API key, and secret. I currently am doing this in the controller, but when I tried to add a default user to the seeds.rb file, I am getting an SQL error (saying my apikey is null). I tried overriding the save definition, but that seemed to cause problems when I updated the model, because it would override the values. I tried overriding the initialize definition, but that is returning a nil:NilClass and breaking things. Is there a better way to do this?

  I have a Mission model that has_many Task, and the Task belongs_to Mission For security I've made this validation on the Task Model: validates_presence_of :mission_id validates_numericality_of :mission_id But the problem is that when create a Mission and add tasks like this: @mission.tasks.build The validation returns error, because the mission id on the task is null ( the mission wasn't yet created ) If I delete the validation, the Mission and Task is created successfuly, but how can I keep the validation and still have this work? I could do a callback after the save, but I don't think that's right, because I don't want to save Tasks without a mission_id. P.S. I'm hidding my mission field on the form. If I have it visible, it will show the currect mission and everything is ok. But if I hidde it the error happens. <%= f.hidden_field :mission, :label => "Missão" %> Is the form reseting the attributes given by the controller on the new action?
