I'd like my PowerShell scripts to load my SharePoint farm configuration from files rather than either hard coding the configuration in the scripts, or having to pass in the same parameters each time. This the kind of information I need to store.   • File permissions changed between OS X and Windows

    I zipped a rails project from OS X and sent it to a colleague who works on Windows. He updated the source, zipped the whole project folder and sent the zip file back to me. After unzipping the project, I found that the file permissions information is kind of lost. For example, the script/server is changed from -rwxr-xr-x to -rw-r--r--. Is there a way to preserver the file permission flags, when transferring files between mac and windows? Thanks

    G'day guys, I'm currently using fasterCSV to parse a CSV file in ruby, and wondering how to get rid of the initial row of data on a CSV (The initial row contains the time/date information generated by another software package) I tried using fasterCSV.table and then deleting row(0) then converting it to a CSV document then parsing it but the row was still present in the document.   • Generic data input form in asp.net mvc application

    Hello, I have an application that have EF 16 classes that share this information: They all are classes only with a key field and a description. I think it should be a waste if I make a controller with just 1 method just to present a form to fill these classes info, then I was thinking in to make a generic form(with key, description) and dynamically fill the right class through a sort of selection the selected info in any way, any good suggestion or pattern to do that? Where the generic methods should be located.

  • Refreshing Visual Studio's COM references tab

    I right-clicked on the bin folder of my web app to add a COM Reference. I did not find the desired Com reference in the list. I went back to the Command Line to register by desired Com dll using resvr32. However, the COM references tab does not shows it (looks like the information is cached somewhere). Even restarting VS did not help. Is their any easy way to refresh the COM references tab without rebooting the machine itself??

    I asked this before and got no where so i'm asking again as i'm now desperate!!   • Bracketing algorithm when root finding. Single root in "quadratic" function

    I am trying to implement a root finding algorithm. I am using the hybrid Newton-Raphson algorithm found in numerical recipes that works pretty nicely. But I have a problem in bracketing the root. While implementing the root finding algorithm I realised that in several cases my functions have 1 real root and all the other imaginary (several of them, usually 6 or 9). The only root I am interested is in the real one so the problem is not there. The thing is that the function approaches the root like a cubic function, touching with the point the y=0 axis... Newton-Rapson method needs some brackets of different sign and all the bracketing methods I found don't work for this specific case. What can I do? It is pretty important to find that root in my program... EDIT: more problems: sometimes due to reaaaaaally small numerical errors, say a variation of 1e-6 in some value the "cubic" function does NOT have that real root, it is just imaginary with a neglectable imaginary part... (checked with matlab) EDIT 2: Much more information about the problem. Ok, I need root finding algorithm. Info I have: The root I need to find is between [0-1] , if there are more roots outside that part I am not interested in them. The root is real, there may be imaginary roots, but I don't want them. Probably all the rest of the roots will be imaginary The root may be double in that point, but I think that actually doesn't mater in numerical analysis problems I need to use the root finding algorithm several times during the overall calculations, but the function will always be a polynomial In one of the particular cases of the root finding, my polynomial will be similar to a quadratic function that touches Y=0 with the point. Example of a real case: The coefficient may not be 100% precise and that really slight imprecision may make the function not to touch the Y=0 axis. I cannot solve for this specific case because in other cases it may be that the polynomial is pretty normal and doesn't make any "strange" thing. The method I am actually using is NewtonRaphson hybrid, where if the derivative is really small it makes a bisection instead of NewRaph (found in numerical recipes).   • Fetch wrong SVN credentials with Python

    Could anyone here let me know how can I check if provided SVN credentials (username and password) are proper? With pysvn there is callback_get_login parameter but in case credentials are wrong, callback is prompted over and over without any way to cancel this and return failure information. Please let me know how can I (not neccesserily with pysvn) check if provided SVN credentials are okay. Thank you in advance!
