  • Automate ripping TV show DVDs

    RipIt & Handbrake do a really good job of ripping and compressing. For normal "single main feature" DVDs I have a good workflow, and for the most part handbrake does a good job of figuring out what the main title is. The process for ripping a DVD that has multiple episodes of something kinda sucks. Has anyone made any progress on automating (or at least simplifying) the process of getting show-s01e01.avi from a DVD?

  • Batch-Renaming Movies using Regex

    So, I've been trying to rename some movie files using regular expressions, but so far I have been only marginally successful. The goal is to parse files like this: 2001.A.Space.Odyssey.1968.720p.BluRay.DD5.1.x264-LiNG.mkv And rename them Like this: 2001 A Space Odyssey (1968).mkv I created the pattern: ^(.+).(\d{4}).+.(mp4|avi|mkv)$ With the output: \1 (\2).\3 Now, this works perfectly fine when I have movies with one-word titles, but when there is more than one word separated by a period, the regex fails to grab anything. What am I doing wrong here?

In one single DVD I have 4~6 movies and they play very nice (with good quality) in my DVD player! I've downloaded Handbrake and DVD43. But I don't know the settings to get those nice results. I have handbrake to convert the file, but will that allow me to include the subtitles? If not, how would I go about putting the subtitles into the mkv?

When i connect to a machine, the client user should not have mouse and keyboard access of the Remote machine. It should be a View only remote connection. And i want to make the Remote viewer screen to be in full screen mode, because i dont want the user to do anything with menubars of Fatancy remote. Because this is kiosk application.     I recently purchased one of those new wave of point & shoot digicams (canon SD780) that shoot high definition 720p video. Unfortunately it only writes to Quicktime files. How can I go about editing these in Windows without spending any money? I found a few MOV to AVI or WMV converters but am experiencing some quality degradation in the output.

  • Can't Delete file Macbook Pro (Stuck in Trash)

    I dunno when I deleted this file (its an avi), its been in the trash for awhile. Today I went to empty the trash and this one file can't claims to be in use. But I have restarted, shut down my mac several times, I've also used my media player several times since last using that file. So I guess Im trying to find out how to find whats using the file or at least making it appear as such. So I can go about deleting it finally.

  • Run QuickTime from command line to export video

    I have a bunch of avi's I am converting to m4v, and I can do this in QuickTime by opening the video and then go 'Save As', select a folder, select the type (iPhone, Movie, etc), blah blah blah. But I have around 100 videos I want to do this with. Command line options? Or batch processing options in the GUI? Enlighten me, please. This is QuickTime X on Snow Leopard.

  • Connect Ubuntu 11.04 to xbox 360

    I'd like to be able to stream .avi files to my xbox 360 video library. I've gone through a bunch of different servers (ushare, xbmc) both from the aptitude and from source. It seems that I can get the servers working from both localhost and from another computer on the network. However, the xbox cannot detect any of these. Can anybody give me a hand or perhaps post a detailed walkthrough to give me a hand? Thanks!

  • Extracting and re-combining audio from a video

    I'm fed up with Vegas, Premiere, Pinnacle, SoundForge and all of the other editors I've tried. I'm trying to modify the audio of an AVI file, but all of the editors I've tried insist on re-encoding the video when I save the changes, and either reduce the quality or take hours. Is there a way to just extract the audio stream from a video with ffmpeg, edit it in an audio editor and then recombine the saved changes with the video?
