  • How to prioritize tasks when you have multiple programming projects running in parallel?

    - by Vinko Vrsalovic
Say you have 5 customers, you develop 2 or 3 different projects for each. Each project has Xi tasks. Each project takes from 2 to 10 man weeks. Given that there are few resources, it is desired to minimize the management overhead. Two questions in this scenario: What tools would you use to prioritize the tasks and track their completion, while tending to minimize the overhead? What criteria would you take into consideration to determine which task to assign to the next available resource given that the primary objective is to increase throughput (more projects finished per time unit, this objective conflicts with starting one project and finishing it and then moving on to the next)? Ideas, management techniques, algorithms are welcome

  • Getting the relative path to the rdlc report in my winform app.

    - by Mike Wills
I am automatically creating a PDF from some of our reports in a month-end process. I am running into a problem where ReportViewer.LocalReport can't find my report. Within the project, the report files are in "(project root folder)/Reports/report.rdlc". How do I set ReportViewer.LocalReport.ReportPath so I can reference my report file? I would rather not set the full path because I don't know where it would be installed when installed on the client machines.

  • SSRS export to Excel UNFORMATTED

    - by mjmcloug
Hey, I'm looking into SSRS with intention of exporting a lot of the reports to excel. The problem is that when you export it changes cell sizes and removes borders to try and keep the original report format. Is there anyway to stop this happening? So that the report exports to excel with the "usual" excel formatting? If it requires any coding that's fine as most of my reports will be run from C# code. Thanks Mat

  • Why aren't the :locals hash variables being passed in to a partial, when called from inside my rake

    - by marshally
    I need to render a bunch of painfully long running partials using a rake task. When I try to pull the partial from a rake task, I get the dreaded "Called id for nil, which would mistakenly be 4" error, which usually means that my locals hash has not been properly set into the partial. Here's the rake task (some variable names have been changed to protect the innocent): namespace :precache do desc "Precache stuff" task :precache => :environment do av = ActionView::Base.new(Rails::Configuration.new.view_path, {}) av.class_eval do include ApplicationHelper end @user = User.find(21) @rank = Rank.find(2) data = av.render(:partial => "reports/listing", :locals => {:user => @user, :rank => @rank}) end end And this is the error that I am getting: ** Execute precache:precache rake aborted! Called id for nil, which would mistakenly be 4 -- if you really wanted the id of nil, use object_id On line #1 of app/views/reports/listing.html.erb 1: <%- @rid = @rank.id %> 2: <%- @cid = @user.id %> 3: <%- cache(:action => 'reports', :key => [arg1, arg2, arg3] ) do %> 4: <%- app/views/reports/_downline_js.html.erb:1 lib/tasks/precache_fragments.rake:12 rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:636:in `call' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:636:in `execute' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:631:in `each' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:631:in `execute' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:597:in `invoke_with_call_chain' /System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/1.8/usr/lib/ruby/1.8/monitor.rb:242:in `synchronize' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:590:in `invoke_with_call_chain' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:583:in `invoke' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:2051:in `invoke_task' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:2029:in `top_level' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:2029:in `each' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:2029:in `top_level' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:2068:in `standard_exception_handling' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:2023:in `top_level' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:2001:in `run' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:2068:in `standard_exception_handling' rake (0.8.7) lib/rake.rb:1998:in `run' rake (0.8.7) bin/rake:31 /usr/bin/rake:19:in `load' /usr/bin/rake:19 details: I'm using Rails 2.3.5 and Ruby 1.8.7.   • Why does /MANIFESTUAC:NO work?

    - by Eamon
Windows 7, C++, VS2008 I have a COM DLL that needs to be registered using "runas administrator" (it is a legacy app that writes to the registry) The DLL is used by a reports app which instantiates it using CoCreateInstance. This failed unless I also ran the reports app as administrator; until I changed the linker setting from /MANIFESTUAC to /MANIFESTUAC:NO Can anyone tell me why this works? Does it mean that I can write apps that bypass the UAC using this setting?

  • Local Report vs Server report in ASP .Net Report viewer control.

    - by Raja
Hello All, In one of the ASP .Net site we are currently working we have a bulk load of SSRS reports. We have forms authentication for the site and reports have already been created and deployed in the report server. We are having so many problems with authentication when we set the report viewer control to access the server report. I just want to know what are the advantages or disadvantages of using Local report vs Server Report Thanks, Raja

  • Easy to use web-based reporting tool

    - by SuperFurryToad
I'm looking for recommendations for an easy to use reporting/business intelligence tool that can interface with an sql server or access database. It can be web-based or a desktop tool. Ideally it would be freeware or low cost, and easy to use for users who are not that technically savvy (below the level of someone who can generate reports and complicated queries in Access). Any tools I've seen so far (such as Crystal Reports) are either too expensive or too complicated to use for non-power users.

  • Loading a page into memory in Rails

    - by titaniumdecoy
My rails app produces XML when I load /reports/generate_report.xml. On a separate page, I want to read this XML into a variable and save it to the database. How can I do this? Can I somehow stream the response from the /reports/generate_report.xml URI into a variable? Or is there a better way to do it since the XML is produced by the same web app?

  • Obtain user activity data in emails after I programmatically mail out emails

    - by John
If I were to build a newsletter emailing system, I will need to be able to generate reports on how many emails bounced, flagged as spam, unsubscribed, read vs. unread, click through rates etc.... So how do you keep track of user activity after the email has been sent? Am I right in assuming that you CAN NOT embed javascript code into emails to monitor user activity? How else do I gather data for my reports?

  • Triangle count for model is doubled during render

    - by zarawesome
I am working with the Trinigy 3d engine, and it reports models to have twice as many triangles during render than it does in the model display (let's say 4000 instead of 2000). If I render the model with an additional outline shader, it reports 6000 triangles, so it's not a simple duplication. What could be the problem?

  • What if an application needs MSVCR80.dll but I've installed Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0?

    - by user198729
I'm trying to install this: http://www.coderholic.com/pywebshot-generate-website-thumbnails-using-python/ I've googled a lot,and still can't make it work(gtk runtime has been installed successfully(gtk-demo works),but it still reports can't find MSVCR80.dll,this should be because that I have installed Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0?), each time it reports ImportError: DLL load failed,MSVCR80.dll is not found.. How to make an application that needs MSVCR80.dll work when I've already installed Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0? Or : How to make _gtk.pyd use MSVCR90.dll instead of MSVCR80.dll?
