  I have a website where I need to have data that is ID'd by user. For example, they enter their favorite food: userid favorite food ------ ------------- 1 french fries 2 tacos 3 fish sticks 4 chipotle When I use Facebook Authentication, what identifier will I use for the userid? I'm assuming it's not name, since this would create duplicates. Is it just the person's Facebook ID? Also is the correct API to use for 3rd party websites 'Facebook Connect' or 'Facebook Authorization' or something else?

I know to look at the $_SERVER['HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE'] (not accurate but mostly useful to detect location, for example if an IP range's users set French to their browser then it means that this range belongs to France gethostbyaddr($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']) then may be to whois gethostbyaddr($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']) sometimes $HTTP_USER_AGENT (Firefox's user agent string has language code, not accurate but mostly can be used to detect the location) But what about cities?

  Hello, I am having some problems getting some French text to convert to UTF8 so that it can be displayed properly, either in a console, text file or in a GUI element. The original string is HANDICAP+ES which is supposed to be HANDICAPÉES No matter how I tried converting it, it appears the same way. Any ideas on how I can do this conversion? Thanks, Cam

• RubyMine Folder Tree doesn't refresh

  Hi Using RubyMine 2.0.2 for the first time today, on Mac OSX Leopard. If I create files in the filesystem (with, say, script/generate) those new files do not appear in rubymine. I have had limited success with restarting the program, in that the files in the db/ folder are added and removed, but unfortunately new folders in the views directory are not shown.   I am working on localization project and when i change the language the UI gets disturbed because some translations are large. For example say there is button with text "Select All". But when this is localized in french it reads as "Sélectionner tout". That is larger than Select All and hence the gui gets affected. Is there any way to localize the gui as well.
