  • What program will monitor the chords I'm playing through my MIDI keyboard live?

    Leaving Cubase 5 out of the picture, when I use Reason 4.0 to compose something, I need a program running that will monitor the chords I'm pressing WHILE I'm pressing them. See, I'm a new keyboardist, and a thing like this will improve my accuracy by 100%. At one point, I'll stop needing such programs even, but for now, I'd REALLY like to have something of that sort. Free or commercial suggestions.

  • Is there any way to disable certain keyboard shortcuts in Windows 7?

    There is something going on with my Windows 7 machine where attempting to unlock the workstation the Win key is "stuck" on (not quite sure what is causing this). What this causes is that when I am entering my password, which contains a "p", Windows thinks I am pressing Win + p as if I want to change my display settings to enable a projector. This is highly annoying when attempting to unlock my workstation! The workaround I've found to "unstick" the Win key is to cycle through the projector/display settings once, land back on the original value, and then resume entering my password as normal. But is there any way to completely disable the shortcut for Win + p ? In all likelihood I will never hook up a projector to this machine, or on the once-in-a-lifetime chance that I do, I am more than happy with having to go into the Display Settings myself.

  • Attempting to change Keyboard Backlight levels changes theme

    I'm using an Asus G74SX on Ubuntu 12.04. When I try to change my Keyboard Backlight levels my theme seems to change or crash to a backup. P.S. My Screen Brightness won't change if I use the keys or even going into display settings manually.     Ubuntu One's Security FAQ indicates that Canonical encrypts connections and restricts access to user data. This all well and fine, and I do trust SSL for online banking and other things more valuable than my private keys. That said, I am quite anxious about putting my ~/.ssh/id_dsa up in the cloud. Obviously, no system is totally secure. Could some knowledgeable party, then, pragmatically quantify the risks?

  • Xubuntu keyboard doesn't work properly

    I have installed xubuntu 12.04 but after installation my buttons "d" and "e" doesn't respond properly. When I press "d" on the keypas, it enters automatically giving error as d:command not found, same happenes with Caps lock is on. While presssing "e" i get e+ or +e. Don't know why this weired behaviour, i tired reinstalling xubuntu, but the same think happens again. My keyboard is English(US). Regards,

  • Non-responsive mouse and keyboard fix

    I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 and found that after about 20 minutes of work that my mouse and keyboard became very unresponsive. So I found the following fix: sudo -i To test if this is the problem: echo N> /sys/module/drm_kms_helper/parameters/poll To make the fix permanent: echo "options drm_kms_helper poll=N">/etc/modprobe.d/local.conf It appears that the fix does work, but what does this do? Am I breaking something else in doing this?
