  • Pandoc: Output two sumation signs in equal height in Word 2010

    I need to output some complex equations in Word 2010 (docx). To do so I write most of the equations in tex and use pandoc to translate them as Word formulas. However I have a problem with the following tex equation: \sum_{m=1}^\infty\sum_{n=1}^\infty In Word the resulting two summation signs are not of the same size but the latter is smaler than the first one. Is there any workaround to solve this? I would deeply appreciate any help. Thank you Andy

  • Office 2011 Mac - Unable to save Word files, plus normal.dot alert errors

    There are actually 3 errors here. When I open Word, I get: Word cannot open the existing global template. () If I create a file, type a character and try to save to the desktop (that I have no problems writing to otherwise), I get: Word cannot save or create this file. The disk may be full or write-protected. Try one or more of the following: * Free more memory * Make sure that the disk you want to save the file on is not full, write-protected, or damaged. () I am just saving to the desktop, and I can save excel files (or anything else) there. After the failure, if I save again, the default file name becomes: .doc...doc Weird. Finally, when I close word completely, I get: Do you want to replace the existing Normal.dotm.

  • Autocorrect for "fat fingers" - MS Word

    I'm wondering if anyone knows of a plug-in for MS Word which can handle key-presses of surrounding keys when typing at speed (rather like iPhone or Android autocorrect)? My use case is in transcribing interviews where I need to type quickly (even with the playback at half speed) - but I don't do this often enough to become a proficient touch typist. I will also be paying close attention to the text produced in subsequent analysis so I have a reasonable expectation that I'll catch any "hilarious" autocorrect errors. Any pointers to plug-ins which work at either a system level or within MS Word would be great. Even in an open source word processor at a pinch, though I'd miss the MS Word environment and my macros.   • Microsoft Word "Random" Crashes

    Word seemingly randomly crashes in an application setting where it is first being used to programmatically databind (bookmarks) and then directly afterwards opened on the user machine for further user input. The error message is quite precise but the workaround has eluded me. Word crashes a moment or two after it has been opened on the user machine with the below exception details. Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: WINWORD.EXE Application Version: 14.0.6129.5000 Application Timestamp: 5082f354 Fault Module Name: wwlib.dll Fault Module Version: 14.0.6129.5000 Fault Module Timestamp: 5082f3dc Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 000eed32 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.16.7 Locale ID: 1030 Additional information about the problem: LCID: 1030 skulcid: 1030 Sometimes one can run the exact same scenario 50 times before experiencing a crash, other times only a few times. We have tried using different versions of the Word format as well as renaming the databound file after saving so that the file being opened on the user machine is different. Principally Word should never crash but perhaps there is some workaround that can make Word not crash. Googling for a solution there appears to be multiple things that can trigger this bug.

  • How to copy web page text and images to MS Word

    From time to time I want to copy and paste a portion of a web document (viewed in both IE Explorer 7 and 8) into MS Word 2007. The selected text copies and pastes fine, but I am left with only place holders for the images (png). Right clicking the image and clicking copy, then pasting into MS Word doesn't work either. If I paste the image into MS Paint and copy it from there, I can paste it into the Word document. What gives?

    Is there an easy way in Microsoft Word 2010 to make words appear like keystrokes the way we can here in Superuser? Something like this: Ctrl + V I know that <kbd> is an HTML tag, but in normal HTML that just switches to a fixed-width font. In fact, that's how Word treats it if you paste something from SU into a Word doc: If there's not a standard way to do this in Word, is there a free font that might accomplish the same thing? I thought I'd seen some before but couldn't find any at the regular places I find fonts (dafont.com, fontspace.com).

  • How to link to an Excel pivot table that will expand over time in Word 2007?

    I have a pivot table in Excel 2007 which I’ve pasted it into Word 2007 using Paste Special (Paste link) - Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet Object. The pivot table appears in Word and the link to Excel is working. The problem is that if the pivot table expands (for example, due to showing 12 months of data rather than six months) the link to the pivot table in Word will only show the range cells that were originally copied over with the pivot table. I understand why this happens. When I paste as a link to Word the underling field codes look like this: {LINK Excel.Sheet.8 "C:\Users\myAccount\Documents\testexcel.xlsx" "Sheet2!R1C1:R8C2" \a \p} The codes refer to a fixed area (e.g., Sheet2!R1C1:R8C2 ) of the Excel spreadsheet, and so when the pivot table expands, the expanded cells fall outside the area that is defined in the field codes. Is there some way to have the link refer to the pivot table itself rather than the cell range that happened to be originally copied over from Excel?

  • Flatten Word document

    I have a document with some precise formatting, created in Word. This doc was converted to PDF for distribution. Now the original is lost, and reconverting to Word using a PDF to word add-on from Microsoft results in many text boxes in the new DOC file. How can I 'flatten' this to remove the text boxes and retain most of the formatting in order to update the contents? Recreating the original formatting would take a long time.

  • Using RTL languages with MS Office in Wine 1.4

    I've installed MS Office 2007 in Ubuntu 12.04 using Wine 1.4 with no problems, and it works fine with the English Language. However, I need to use it to work with Arabic and Hebrew, and it doesn't work when I switch to a Hebrew or Arabic keyboard. The typing gets reversed. I saw an earlier post for something similar, but it is closed and I think it was for the earlier Wine 1.3. Supposedly Wine 1.4 has added RTL -- is there a way to get it working?

    I recently presented session on Statistics and Best Practices in Virtual Tech Days on Nov 22, 2010. The sessions was very popular and I got many questions right after the sessions. The number question I had received was where everybody can get the further information. I am very much happy that my sessions created some curiosity for one of the most important feature of the SQL Server. Statistics are the heart of the SQL Server. Microsoft has published a white paper on the subject how statistics are useful to Query Optimizer. Here is the abstract of the same white paper from Microsoft. Statistics Used by the Query Optimizer in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Writer: Eric N. Hanson and Yavor Angelov Microsoft SQL Server 2008 collects statistical information about indexes and column data stored in the database. These statistics are used by the SQL Server query optimizer to choose the most efficient plan for retrieving or updating data. This paper describes what data is collected, where it is stored, and which commands create, update, and delete statistics. By default, SQL Server 2008 also creates and updates statistics automatically, when such an operation is considered to be useful. This paper also outlines how these defaults can be changed on different levels (column, table, and database).   • Re-deploy Reports on SCOM Management Packs

    I've migrated Reporting Services on a SCOM 2007 R2 install, and noticed that the reports have not being copied. I can create a new report, but the ones I've had because of the management packs are gone. I've tried re-applying the Management Packs however it doesn't re-deploy them and when I try to access for example: Monitoring - Microsoft Windows Print Server - Microsoft Windows Server 2000 and 2003 Print Services - State View - select any item and click Alerts on the right menu. I get the following error: Date: 12/24/2010 12:40:35 PM Application: System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 Application Version: 6.1.7221.0 Severity: Error Message: Cannot initialize report. Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: The item '/Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Report.Library/Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Report.Alert' cannot be found.     Implement the “Word Decoder” game. This game will present the player with a series of scrambled words (up to 20 words) and challenge him/her to attempt to unscramble them. Each time a new word is displayed, and a text input is provided for the user to write the unscrambled word. Once the player thinks the word has been properly decoded, he clicks on the “Check answer” button. If the player’s answer is correct, his score is increased by one. If his answer is not correct, he is notified and he is then given a different word. For example: The word “tac” is displayed. The user inputs “cat”. The answer is correct, and the user’s score is 1. The word “niol” is then displayed. The user inputs “oinl”. The answer is not correct, the user is alerted, and the score stays the same. The game then displays the next word and so on. After the last word, the final score is given to the player. can you help me please???

  • Can I cycle through instances of a style selected via the MS Word styles pane?

    Often when I have many co-authors on a MS Word document I find that some of them don't use the styles I've defined for the document, but have achieved similar formatting manually. This results in many styles listed as "in use", each with perhaps only a handful of instances. Word will highlight these instances for me, but then find myself browsing the entire document to check whether they need correcting or are special cases. This can be a particular pain for a long document and when these style fragments occur in the white space between words or paragraphs. Is there a way to cycle through the highlighted instances of a particular style rather than having to hunt for them visually?

    I am writing a novel in microsoft word 2003, and I am pretty far into it, but one time I hit a one of the F keys (I don't know which one) by accident. Now everytime I go on word I have these stupid balloons with writing in them and all my deletions and everything are highlighted shown. I looked up on google how to stop this and I did as it says, and it worked the balloon with the deletions and all the changes dissapeared, but next time I opened up the document they were back, and they always keep coming back, so when I send my document to anyone it shows them all my deletions and changes I made to the document. Can anyone help please. Thanks

    hey everyone i have an access 2007 database where i have 2 tables one is exp_cash and exp_cheque each are link to exp_cat, where exp_cat contains categories list where exp_cash contains id,cat_id,exp_date,exp_amount,exp_note same thing in exp_cheque where when i came to combine them nothing in result unless i remove the cat_name from my query i used a simple query which is SELECT DISTINCT exp_cat.cat_name, exp_cash.exp_amount, exp_cheque.exp_amount FROM (exp_cat INNER JOIN exp_cash ON exp_cat.ID = exp_cash.exp_cat_id) INNER JOIN exp_cheque ON exp_cat.ID = exp_cheque.exp_cat_id;

  • .NET Access automation with Access 2007 Runtime

    I'm having trouble deploying .NET application which uses Microsoft Access automation. I've installed the Access 2007 Runtime and Primary Interop Assemblies (PIAs) on the target machine: Access 2007 Runtime Office 2007 PIAs However, when I try to create the ApplicationClass: Application access = new ApplicationClass(); I get the following exception: Unhandled Exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80080005): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {73A4C9C1-D68D-11D0-98BF-00A0C90DC8D9} failed due to the following error: 80080005. I've googled the error code and tried tweaking the security settings in dcomcnfg, to no avail. Any ideas? I don't want to install the full version of Access due to the cost, and the runtime should at least be able to create an instance of the application, surely?

  • Save Powerpoint 2007 as Powerpoint 2003 using Open Office SDK 2.0

    Is there anyway to use the Open Office SDK 2.0 to save a powerpoint presention that you created using OOXML to a Office 2003 powerpoint presentation? I know if you open a 2007 file and click Save As you have the option to save it as a Powerpoint 97 to 2003 document and I didn't know if I could do this grammatically using this SDK. The reason I am asking this question is because I need to give the user the option to save data on a website in either office 2007 or 2003 format. I much rather just use the same code to produce the document instead of having to have two code paths for powerpoint 2003 and powerpoint 2007.
