  • How do I let main thread suspend and wait for the System.Timer.Timer running

    - by Kelvin
    Hi I am using System.Timer.Timer I always get NULL after running my programme and it only works if I add this.sleep(6000). Suppose the reason is the main thread ends but the timer hasn't finished ... Here is the class and I call the class from my main form. Class class1 { string finalResult = ""; public string getNumber() { RunTimer(); return finalResult; } pubic void RunTimer () { timer = new System.Timers.Timer(30000); timer.Interval = 1000; timer.Elapsed += new System.Timers.ElapsedEventHandler(cal); timer.Start(); } private void cal(object sender,System.Timers.ElapsedEventArgs e) { finalResult += READFROMCOMPORT; } }

  • Android app hanging, sometimes until Force Close / Wait dialog appears

    - by fredley
    I'm making an app that records uncompressed (wav format) audio. I'm using this class to actually record the audio. Currently, my application records fine (I can play the file), however when I click the button to stop the recording, the app hangs for 10 seconds or so, with no log output or any signs of life. Finally it comes round, dumps a load of errors into the log, updates the UI etc. I'm using AsyncTasks to try and avoid this kind of thing but it's not working. Here's my code: //Called on clicks of the record button. rar is the instance of RehearsalAudioRecorder private OnClickListener RecordListener = new OnClickListener(){ @Override public void onClick(View v) { Log.d("Record","Click"); if (recording){ new stopRecordingTask().execute(rar,null,null); startStop.setText("Record"); statusBar.setText("Recording Finished, ready to Encode"); }else{ recording = true; new startRecordingTask().execute(rar,null,null); startStop.setText("Stop"); statusBar.setText("Recording Started"); } } }; private class startRecordingTask extends AsyncTask<RehearsalAudioRecorder,Void,Void>{ @Override protected Void doInBackground(RehearsalAudioRecorder... rs) { RehearsalAudioRecorder r = rs[0]; r.setOutputFile("/sdcard/rarOut.wav"); r.prepare(); r.start(); return null; } } private class stopRecordingTask extends AsyncTask<RehearsalAudioRecorder,Void,Void>{ @Override protected Void doInBackground(RehearsalAudioRecorder... rs) { RehearsalAudioRecorder r = rs[0]; r.stop(); r.reset(); return null; } } In Logcat, I always get output like this, which has me stumped. I have no idea what's causing it (I'm logging the RehearsalAudioRecorder class, and it's being started/stopped correctly by the button clicks. This output occurs after the log output for the button click and correct stop() method call) 12-19 11:59:11.172: ERROR/AudioRecord-JNI(22662): Unable to retrieve AudioRecord object, can't record 12-19 11:59:11.172: ERROR/uk.ac.cam.tfmw2.steg.RehearsalAudioRecorder(22662): Error occured in updateListener, recording is aborted 12-19 11:59:11.172: ERROR/uk.ac.cam.tfmw2.steg.RehearsalAudioRecorder(22662): stop() called on illegal state: STOPPED 12-19 11:59:11.172: ERROR/AudioRecord-JNI(22662): Unable to retrieve AudioRecord object, can't record 12-19 11:59:11.172: ERROR/uk.ac.cam.tfmw2.steg.RehearsalAudioRecorder(22662): Error occured in updateListener, recording is aborted 12-19 11:59:11.172: ERROR/uk.ac.cam.tfmw2.steg.RehearsalAudioRecorder(22662): stop() called on illegal state: ERROR 12-19 11:59:11.172: ERROR/AudioRecord-JNI(22662): Unable to retrieve AudioRecord object, can't record 12-19 11:59:11.172: ERROR/uk.ac.cam.tfmw2.steg.RehearsalAudioRecorder(22662): Error occured in updateListener, recording is aborted 12-19 11:59:11.172: ERROR/uk.ac.cam.tfmw2.steg.RehearsalAudioRecorder(22662): stop() called on illegal state: ERROR ... 10 or more times I've been fiddling with this all day and I'm not getting anywhere, any input would be greatly appreciated. Update I've replace the AsyncTasks with Threads, still doesn't work, the app completely hangs when I click record, despite the fact the Log indicates there's nothing going on in the main thread. Still completely stumped.

  • How do you use Java 1.6 Annotation Processing to perform compile time weaving?

    - by Steve
    I have created an annotation, applied it to a DTO and written a Java 1.6 style annotationProcessor. I can see how to have the annotationProcessor write a new source file, which isn't what I want to do, I cannot see or find out how to have it modify the existing class (ideally just modify the byte code). The modification is actually fairly trivial, all I want the processor to do is to insert a new getter and setter where the name comes from the value of the annotation being processed. My annotation processor looks like this; @SupportedSourceVersion(SourceVersion.RELEASE_6) @SupportedAnnotationTypes({ "com.kn.salog.annotation.AggregateField" }) public class SalogDTOAnnotationProcessor extends AbstractProcessor { @Override public boolean process(final Set<? extends TypeElement> annotations, final RoundEnvironment roundEnv) { //do some stuff } }

  • How to use setTimeout / .delay() to wait for typing between characters

    - by Darcy
    Hi all, I am creating a simple listbox filter that takes the user input and returns the matching results in a listbox via javascript/jquery (roughly 5000+ items in listbox). Here is the code snippet: var Listbox1 = $('#Listbox1'); var commands = document.getElementById('DatabaseCommandsHidden'); //using js for speed $('#CommandsFilter').bind('keyup', function() { Listbox1.children().remove(); for (var i = 0; i < commands.options.length; i++) { if (commands.options[i].text.toLowerCase().match($(this).val().toLowerCase())) { Listbox1.append($('<option></option>').val(i).html(commands.options[i].text)); } } }); This works pretty well, but slows down somewhat when the 1st/2nd char's are being typed since there are so many items. I thought a solution I could use would be to add a delay to the textbox that prevents the 'keyup' event from being called until the user stops typing. The problem is, I'm not sure how to do that, or if its even a good idea or not. Any suggestions/help is greatly appreciated.

  • process semaphores linux - wait

    - by coubeatczech
    Hi, I try to code a simple program that starts and waits on the system semaphore until it gets terminated by signal. union semun { int val; struct semid_ds *buf; unsigned short int *array; struct seminfo *__buf; }; int main(){ int semaphores = semget(IPC_PRIVATE,1,IPC_CREAT | 0666); union semun arg; arg.val = 0; semctl(semaphores,0,SETVAL,arg); struct sembuf operations[1]; operations[0].sem_num = 0; operations[0].sem_op = -1; operations[0].sem_flg = 0; semop(semaphores,operations,1); fprintf(stderr,"Why?\n"); return 0; } I expect, that everytime this program gets executed, nothing actually happens and it waits on the semaphore, but everytime it goes through the semaphore and writes Why?. Why?

  • Create multiple TCP Connections in C# then wait for data

    - by Ryan French
    Hi Everyone, I am currently creating a Windows Service that will create TCP connections to multiple machines (same socket on all machines) and then listen for 'events' from those machines. I am attempting to write the code to create a connection and then spawn a thread that listens to the connection waiting for packets from the machine, then decode the packets that come through, and call a function depending on the payload of the packet. The problem is I'm not entirely sure how to do that in C#. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions or links that might help me do this? Thanks in advance for any help!

  • JavaScript Loop and wait for function

    - by Fluidbyte
    I have a simple single-dimension array, let's say: fruits = ["apples","bananas","oranges","peaches","plums"]; I can loop thru with with $.each() function: $.each(fruits, function(index, fruit) { showFruit(fruit); }); but I'm calling to another function which I need to finish before moving on to the next item. So, if I have a function like this: function showFruit(fruit){ $.getScript('some/script.js',function(){ // Do stuff }) } What's the best way to make sure the previous fruit has been appended before moving on?

  • Is it worth investing time in learning low level Java?

    - by Kevin Rave
    Low level Java, I mean, bits, bytes, bit masking, GC internals, JVM stuff, etc in the following contexts: - When you are building an enterprise app using frameworks like Spring, Hybernate, etc. - Interviews for a Sr Java Developer position where you are expected work on a existing Enterprise App that was built using some frameworks (Spring, EJB, Hybernate,etc) - Architects (Java) I understand knowing the very low level is "good". But how often do you think / use of these in the real-world, unless you are developing something from the ground-up keeping performance in mind?

  • Message Date/Time tag in Lotus Notes

    - by TeeKay
    I've noticed that within Notes (8.5.2, basic client, fat client and iNotes) the date/time displayed on the eMail envelope AND the date/time on the message header is the same and appearently that time that Domino received the message. When using BES, the message forwarded to the BlackBerry by Domino/BES has the RECEIVED date/time on the envelope and the SENT date/time displayed in the message. In the basic/fat client with properties the sent time is viewable in one of the "Received" tags. Having the sent time easily viewable is helpful, especially if your trying to trouble-shoot a problem. Is this a configuration feature? Is it selectable in the client or in Domino? Thx

  • Silverlight 4 wait/spinner control

    - by Keith
    I'd like to implement a spinner control (something along these lines) in Silverlight 4 to display during pending operations. There are several examples on the web for Silverlight 3 but I'm either unable to compile them into my project or they just flat out display nothing. In addition I'm unable to find any examples specific to Silverlight 4. Can someone please post a sample for Silverlight 4 or a link to one?

  • Perl CGI script to not wait for a subprocess to complete

    - by Tyug
    Is it possible to continue displaying a CGI script's HTML without waiting for a child process to complete, yet the child process should stay alive when the CGI script is complete. Here's what I have, -- Display HTML page # html page set up... so header/other stuff #the -c, -h are params are just params system("perl subprocess.pm -c params -h 1 &"); #actually print the html page setup ... For some weird reason, it waits for the subprocess to finish before it outputs the html page even though I included the asynchronous system call for linux. It doesn't render the page immediately. Is it possible to print the html page without waiting for the subprocess to finish?

  • Ping remote server and wait to get data

    - by infinity
    Hi I'm building my first application for android and I've reached a point where I can't find a solution even have no idea what to search for in Google. So the problem: I am pinging a remote server with GET request through the application passing some parameters like file_id. Then the server gives back confirmation if the file exists or error otherwise, both in plain text. The error string is $$$ERROR$$$. Actually the confirmation is JSON string that holds the path to the file. If the file doesn't exists on the server it generated the error message and start downloading the file and processing it which normally takes 10-30 seconds. What would be the best way to check if the file is ready for download? I have DownloadFile class that extends AsyncTask but before I reach the point to download the file I need the URL which is dependant on the previous request which is in the main class in the UI thread. Here is some code: public class MainActivity extends Activity { private String getInfo() { // Create a new HttpClient and Post Header HttpClient httpClient = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpGet httpPost = new HttpGet(infoUrl); StringBuilder sb = null; String data; JSONObject jObject = null; try { HttpResponse response = httpClient.execute(httpPost); // This might be equal "$$$ERROR$$$" if no file exists sb = inputStreamToString(response.getEntity().getContent()); } catch(ClientProtocolException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block Log.v("Error: pushItem ClientProtocolException: ", e.toString()); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block Log.v("Error: pushItem IOException: ", e.toString()); } // Clean the data to be complaint JSON format data = sb.toString().replace("info = ", ""); try { jObject = new JSONObject(data); data = jObject.getString("h"); fileTitle = jObject.getString("title"); } catch (JSONException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } downloadUrl = String.format(downloadUrl, fileId, data); return downloadUrl; } } So my idea was to get the content and if equal to $$$ERROR$$$ go into loop until JSON data is passed but I guess there is better solution. Note: I don't have control over the server output so have to deal with what I have.

  • iPhone Wait For Animation Ending

    - by paul simmons
    Hi, In an iPhone application, I try to catch animation endings using setAnimationDidStopSelector. I try to suspend code execution until animation ends. I have tried this; set a global BOOL variable, set it to TRUE before commiting animation and after commiting animations waited using a while loop. In the setAnimationDidStopSelector, set the BOOL variable to FALSE and hope while loop to break. But unluckily this did not work, the code did not even fall into setAnimationDidStopSelector (I check that with some trace outputs). What do you suggest?

  • Best solution to wait for all ajax callbacks to be executed

    - by glaz666
    Hi! Imagine we have to sources to be requested by ajax. I want to perform some actions when all callbacks are triggered. How this can be done besides this approach: (function($){ var sources = ['http://source1.com', 'http://source2.com'], guard = 0, someHandler = function() { if (guard != sources.length) { return; } //do some actions }; for (var idx in sources) { $.getJSON(sources[idx], function(){ guard++; someHandler(); }) } })(jQuery) What I don't like here is that in this case I can't handle response failing (eg. I can't set timeout for response to come) and overall approach (I suppose there should be a way to use more power of functional programming here) Any ideas? Regards!

When i change the time back Exchange works again. Here is the error that it shows when im trying to open the management console after changing the system time. The Follwing error occured while attempting to connect to the specified server "servername". The attempt to connect to http://servername/PowerShell using "Kerberos" authentication failed: Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message: Access is denied. • How do I make java wait for boolean to run funciton

    - by TWeeKeD
    I'm sure this is pretty simple but I can't figure out and it sucks I'm up on suck on (what should be) an easy step. ok. I have a method that runs one function that give a response. this method actually handles the uploading of the file so o it takes a second to give a response. I need this response in the following method. sendPicMsg needs to complete and then forward it's response to sendMessage. Please help. b1.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { if(!uploadMsgPic.equalsIgnoreCase("")){ Log.v("response","Pic in storage"); sendPicMsg(); sendMessage(); }else{ sendMessage(); } 1st Method public void sendPicMsg(){ Log.v("response", "sendPicMsg Loaded"); if(!uploadMsgPic.equalsIgnoreCase("")){ final SharedPreferences preferences = this.getActivity().getSharedPreferences("MyPreferences", getActivity().MODE_PRIVATE); AsyncHttpClient client3 = new AsyncHttpClient(); RequestParams params3 = new RequestParams(); File file = new File(uploadMsgPic); try { File f = new File(uploadMsgPic.replace(".", "1.")); f.createNewFile(); //Convert bitmap to byte array Bitmap bitmap = decodeFile(file,400); ByteArrayOutputStream bos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); bitmap.compress(CompressFormat.PNG, 0 /*ignored for PNG*/, bos); byte[] bitmapdata = bos.toByteArray(); //write the bytes in file FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream(f); fos.write(bitmapdata); params3.put("file", f); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } params3.put("email", preferences.getString("loggedin_user", "")); params3.put("webversion", "1"); client3.post("http://peekatu.com/apiweb/msgPic_upload.php",params3, new AsyncHttpResponseHandler() { @Override public void onSuccess(String response) { Log.v("response", "Upload Complete"); refreshChat(); //responseString = response; Log.v("response","msgPic has been uploaded"+response); //parseChatMessages(response); response=picurl; uploadMsgPic = ""; if(picurl!=null){ Log.v("response","picurl is set"); } if(picurl==null){ Log.v("response", "picurl no ready"); }; } }); sendMessage(); } } 2nd Method public void sendMessage(){ final SharedPreferences preferences = this.getActivity().getSharedPreferences("MyPreferences", getActivity().MODE_PRIVATE); if(preferences.getString("Username", "").length()<=0){ editText1.setText(""); Toast.makeText(this.getActivity(), "Please Login to send messages.", 2); return; } AsyncHttpClient client = new AsyncHttpClient(); RequestParams params = new RequestParams(); if(type.equalsIgnoreCase("3")){ params.put("toid",user); params.put("action", "sendprivate"); }else{ params.put("room", preferences.getString("selected_room", "Adult Lobby")); params.put("action", "insert"); } Log.v("response", "Sending message "+editText1.getText().toString()); params.put("message",editText1.getText().toString() ); params.put("media", picurl); params.put("email", preferences.getString("loggedin_user", "")); params.put("webversion", "1"); client.post("http://peekatu.com/apiweb/messagetest.php",params, new AsyncHttpResponseHandler() { @Override public void onSuccess(String response) { refreshChat(); //responseString = response; Log.v("response", response); //parseChatMessages(response); if(picurl!=null) Log.v("response", picurl); } }); editText1.setText(""); lv.setSelection(adapter.getCount() - 1); }

  • BATCH - wait for executable to finish before starting next result

    - by user3697573
    I'm pretty much a noob at this, so any help is appreciated. I'm trying to run the video transcoding executable REDline on all .R3D files in a given folder. REDline only accepts single files, which is the issue. I finally got it to search recursively for the files I need, but my problem is the search function passes the next result to REDline before the first one is finished transcoding. I have the search results that need to run in a variable inside REDline. Here's the code: for /r D:\folder\ %%a in (*) do ( "C:/Program Files/REDCINE-X PRO 64-bit/REDLine.exe" --exportPreset "Prores_Intermediate" --i "%%~dpnxa" --useRSX 2 --masterRMDFolder "" -s 0 -e 95 ) After about .7 seconds, REDline reports 'received stop message from client'. I don't think this is a REDline error, as I have been able to transcode single files successfully. Thanks.

  • C# - Wait to finish before doing the next task

    - by Alex Ogden
    i have a server application with a richtextbox as the console text basically. The problem is, i have start, restart and stop buttons - But my restart button doesn't work. Heres my code for the restart button: consoletxt("RESTART", "Restarting Server..."); statuslabel1.Text = "Restarting"; statuslabel1.ForeColor = Color.Orange; statuslabel2.Text = "Restarting"; statuslabel2.ForeColor = Color.Orange; command("stop"); //The performclick just starts the server startbtn.PerformClick(); statuslabel1.Text = "Online"; statuslabel1.ForeColor = Color.DarkGreen; statuslabel2.Text = "Online"; statuslabel2.ForeColor = Color.DarkGreen; consoletxt("RESTART", "Restart completed, server online!"); However, the output is this: 2012-04-01 11:32:12 [RESTART] Restarting Server... 2012-04-01 11:32:12 [RESTART] Restart completed, server online! 2012-04-01 11:32:12 [INFO] CONSOLE: Stopping the server.. 2012-04-01 11:32:12 [INFO] Stopping server So, it says that the restart has finished in the text - but it hasn't - all it has done is stop the server. Please can sombody explain to me how to do this properly? Thanks!
