• How to spawn a character at certain point and walk to a set point

  I am making a game where I have a background image of a neighborhood. Each location has a different number of customers that are generated to walk on sidewalks. They all walk to a specific location (like a stand or cart that sells stuff), after they get to location I want them to interact with the cart. However, if another customer is already in a sale interaction then the others get in line in order of arrival. After the transaction the customers walk off screen. Any information on how I can do this and what game engine would be needed? Any one have any idea where I should go for this. I already have my game done up through Eclipse/Java without any game engine.

• Huwaei Modem working fine!

  yesterday I installed Ubuntu 12 in my sony vaio lappy. I have Huwaei E173 3G modem, simply inserted that modem into usb slot, after a few seconds modem started blinking finding as activated. I opened network profile and created a new network under 'Mobile broadband' tab everything was automated and I felt awesome, infact I used net for a while. Next morning, I placed modem into usb, nothing happened, no sign of modem presence even but modem is blinking, I tried creating a new connection once again but attained no luck. • EntSSO stopped working

  My EntSSO (Enterprise Single Sign-On Server, part of BizTalk) did not start today, with the message: The SSO service failed to start. Error Code: 0x80131700 Could not create SSOSQL. To fix the problem, reinstall SSO or try 'regasm SSOSQL.dll' from a Visual Studio command prompt. Error Code: 0x80131700   The only reason for this that I can think of is that I have just installed the .net framework 4.0 RC but I have not verified this. The solution suggest in the error message works like a charm! Open a Visual Studio command prompt and run this command: regasm  ‘C:\Program Files\Common Files\Enterprise Single Sign-On\SSOSQL.dll’ Problem solved!

• Volume control keyboard shortcuts not working in 14.04?

  I run Ubuntu 14.04 on a Sony Vaio CS series laptop. Normally, the volume is controlled by pressing Funcion+F2, F3, and F4 for mute, volume down, and volume up respectively. I accidentally reassigned the volume up keyboard shortcut to a different key. I tried resetting the keyboard shortcut by going into the keyboard shortcuts editor in Ubuntu and pressing Function+F4, but that didn't work. My mute function and my volume down functions both work flawlessly, but volume up doesn't work at all. Please don't answer telling me to change the keyboard shortcut in the Keyboard Shortcuts manager, as I have already tried that. Thanks for your help!

• Why isn't iTunes working for me?

  I know you are to install iTunes in WINE but when ever I open it an error message appears that says Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2(Windows error 2) I have tried uninstalling the iTunes, re downloading it and repairing it. Nothing seems to work. Please help me here. • Subdomain still times out after being set up a month ago

  I would like to use the subdomain www.high-res.domain.com to be accessed by external customers with specific permissions to access the site (like FTP). We use Network Solutions to house domain.com. We recently added a new IP address to point to www.high-res.domain.com. I gave the IP address to the company that hosts our website. I pinged www.high-res.domain.com and it points to the correct IP address but still times out. It’s been a few weeks now and when you ping it, it still times out. C:\>ping XXX.XXX.X.XXX Pinging XXX.XXX.X.XXX with 32 bytes of data: Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Request timed out. Ping statistics for XXX.XXX.X.XXX: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss). tracert times out as well. I even went to DNS tools and a few other sites for checking this and it shows the same thing. I recently went into the DNSmgmt on our server (wink2k3sp1) and created an A record under the DomainDnsZones which translated to a CNAME when you look at it. Under the domain it has two entries, one to the subdomain and the other to the website host. Each has separate IP addresses. Is this correct?

• dead keys not working in java app

  The Arduino IDE is based on a java application called processing. While typing text into processing, it refuses to accept any of the characters under dead keys like " ' ^. As a work around I: Open another window (usually my browser or mail client); I type the character I need; Select and copy the character onto my clip board; Copy the character into processing. What do I have to do to make processing accept characters under dead keys? Disabling dead keys is not an option.

• yahoo media player not working

  I have a yahoo media player embedded in my webpage. I am currently using Ruby on Rails to create/edit my web page. When i click the play button next to a track the YMP waits a while and then goes to the next track without playing the first one. I then get a warning on my second (last) track that its file could not be found. Does anyone has a better recommendation for an audio player or a way to fix this one?

I get an error message telling me to check my internet connection but I am connected to the internet, shortly after I get an error message just like the one I get from update manager.   I upgraded my HP DV5-1000US Laptop to Ubuntu 12.04. But I cannot get it connected to the Wireless. I went through the settings, Hardware, Additional Drivers and it says that "No proprietary drivers are in use on this system". Also it says "Broadcom STA Wireless Driver" is not activated. I tried to activate it after got my laptop connected to the net through a wired connection, but it says "Sorry, installation of this driver failed. Please have a look at the log file for details: /var/log/jockey.log"

• Dell Mini 9 Integrated Microphone -- not working

  Im running the latest Debian version, 6.0 on my Dell Mini 9.Webcam and sound work, but microphone is a no-go. I hope even though it is Debian, fellow Linux users can help. In Alsamixer (1.0.23), I have Capture, Digital, and Mic settings all the way up. There are no options for adjusting "Front" mic settings. (May have been for older alsamixer versions?) In Sound Recorder, playback has loud noise/feedback? Under Preferences in Volume Control under the Recording tab, both Capture and Digital are permanently checked, regardless if I uncheck them. I'm not sure how to interpret the above, but I am just trying to offer as much relevant background information as I can. I've been scouring forums for the answer, but to no avail. Most questions/answers are from 2008, and couldn't find a solution. I'm not very handy with the Linux machine, but love to learn / am learning. Also, I've attempted the solution here, and it didn't work. Thanks, in advance, for your help!

• Ubuntu 12.04 + Wifi not working

  i'm having problems connecting over wireless. At the moment, I'm using wicd. It seems to get stuck on "Verifying AP association...". Without wicd I can get the connection up and ping the Net - but if I take eth0 down (ifconfig eth0 down), my wireless goes away too (same result if I unplug the wire instead). wicd is the only way I can bring eth0 back (which is the main reason I'm using it) - ifconfig eth0 and/or ifup eth0 do not re-enable the connection (I just discovered it leaves out the gateway. Adding the gateway back in re-enables the connection including wifi; I didn't want to delete the info about wicd above in case it gives someone an idea.)   The controller is detected by the OS, and shows up in lsusb, and I can configure it with jstest-gtk, but Live For Speed in Wine doesn't recognize it as connected. Using Lubuntu 12.04, wine version 1.5.5. P.S. - It worked on a previous install of regular Ubuntu 12.04, using the same Wine version. Have tried installing/overriding/un-overriding various DLL's through winetricks to no avail, including xact and dinput8. Since it worked in a previous install of the same version, I figured it was a configuration error, and that I should ask here as opposed to put in a bug report on winehq. EDIT: I just used both controllers in TORCS... why do they work in native games, but not in wine?

• apt-get not working

  Everything I try with apt-get fails. I am installing Ubuntu server for the first time. It is version 12.04 LTS. When I run: apt-get update I get failed to fetch http://gb.whatever goes here...... If I run apt-get install install build-essential I get "unable to locate package build-essential" I have looked at the sources.list but do not know what should and shouldn't be in there. • Unity 3D not Working on Acer D270 w/ Intel GMA 3600

  I recently bought myself an Acer Aspire One D270 with the GMA 3600 graphics chipset thinking I would get some lovely graphics. However, I am stuck using Unity 2D and I cant figure out how to enable 3D. None of the fixes I have found so far have worked. Another effect of this is that I cant change the backlight brightness. So whenever I open the lid, looking at the screen is like staring into the sun. Is there a driver for it in the works? Does the 3.4 kernel support the chipset and most of all is there a way to fix this? Please help

• OUYA and Unity set up problems

  I'm having trouble with the Unity / OUYA plugin. I'm using Unity 4 with the latest update on a Windows 7 machine. When I open the starter kit and try to compile the plugin I get the following error: Picked up _JAVA_OPTIONS: -Xmx512M And if I try to Build and Run I get this error: Error building Player: ArgumentException: Illegal characters in path. I'm stumped, I've gone through lots of forum posts here and on stackoverflow and I can't seem to resolve it. My environment variables look like this: PATH - C:\Users\dave\Documents\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130219\sdk\tools; C:\Users\dave\Documents\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130219\sdk\platform-tools\ JAVA_HOME - C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_45\ Everything in the OUYA Panel is white Any ideas?

• Better way to set up samba bridge?

  I have an old ubuntu laptop hooked up to between my wireless network and a wired media player box. I had previously shared my wireless network connection so the media player had internet access (ie. via nat) because it was a different subnet it could not access the file shares on the wireless network. To get around this I mounted the drives from the wireless network on the laptop and re-shared them with samba. This worked ok but had some drawbacks, it seemed slow and if network computers were turned off when the laptop rebooted I had to manually mount the shares. I've just re-installed with the latest ubuntu and was wondering if there is a better way to do this. Is there some way to bridge so the media player appears to be on the wireless network? Would this give better performance? Any other options? I'm also thinking there might be some samba options that could buffer files?
