  • Is there a recommended way to use the Observer pattern in MVP using GWT?

    I am thinking about implementing a user interface according to the MVP pattern using GWT, but have doubts about how to proceed. These are (some of) my goals: - the presenter knows nothing about the UI technology (i.e. uses nothing from com.google.*) - the view knows nothing about the model or the presenter - the model knows nothing of the view or the presenter (...obviously) I would place an interface between the view and the presenter and use the Observer pattern to decouple the two: the view generates events and the presenter gets notified. What confuses me is that java.util.Observer and java.util.Observable are not supported in GWT. This suggests that what I'm doing is not the recommended way to do it, as far as GWT is concerned, which leads me to my questions: what is the recommended way to implement MVP using GWT, specifically with the above goals in mind? How would you do it?

    Our Client's database returns a set of prices in an array, but they sometimes don't include all prices, i.e., they have missing elements in their array. We return what we find as an IList, which works great when we retrieve content from the database. However, we are having difficulties setting the elements in the proper position in the array.     I am using C#.net application with oledbConnection to open database in exclusive mode what exactly process in backend when we open database in exclusive mode , it not increse size of database compare to shared mode connectivity. Is it doing Compat or Repair when it close connection of Exclusive Mode?? As we are facing unExpected Errors at time of open connection using Exclusive mode & its come abnormally even we have dispossed all connection properly.   • How to get paperclip to delete files

    I have a model that is using Paperclip to manage the file. After I delete the model, I obviously would like the file to be deleted as well, but I cannot seem to find out how to get the file deleted using Paperclip. I have tried self.sourcefile = nil if !sourcefile.dirty? in the before_destroy def, but that had no effect. (I want to be able to have it delete the file locally when I test, and then on S3 when I use that - So i need a pure paperclip solution) Any ideas?

  • Comcast SMC Port Forwarding Issue

    I have a Comcast SMCD3G modem/router and I've been having issues getting the port to forward - When I check an online "open-port-checker" it says the port is forwarded/they can see the port on my IP. (1 Static IP is assigned to the modem) But when I try to access port 80 for example on a browser, it times out. Also when I try to remote desktop to the server (Windows Server 2008 R2) it doesn't work, yet canyouseeme.org says it is open. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

    I am trying to create an application to print documents over the web. I have created my document, and made a web page with a meta refresh tag, along the lines of this: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="3;http://example.com/download.epl2" /> I specify that the document has a content-type of application/x-epl2, and I have associated .epl2 files on my computer with a program that silently sends them to the printer. I have put the website into my trusted sites zone. Currently Internet Explorer pops up the "Open, Save, Cancel" dialog box with no option to automatically open the file. Is there a setting in IE6/7/8 that I can use to have IE just open the file without prompting?

  • Execution Plan Optimization when where clause is removed then added back

    I have a stored procedure that uses a table valued function which executes in 9 seconds. If I alter the table valued function and remove the where clause, the stored procedure executes in 3 seconds. If I add the where clause back, the query still executes in 3 seconds. I took a look at the execution plans and it appears that after I remove the where clause, the execution plan includes parallelism and the scan count for 2 of my tables drops for 50000 and 65000 down to 5 and 3. After I add the where clause back, the optimized execution plan still runs unless I run DBCC FREEPROCCACHE. Questions 1. Why would SQL Server start using the optimized execution plan for both queries only when I first remove the where clause? Is there a way to force SQL Server to use this execution plan? Also, this is a paramaterized all-in-one query that uses the (Parameter is null or Parameter) in the where clause, which I believe is bad for performance.     Hello, 1) Let's say I've a class MyDataInfo public class MyDataInfo { public int MyDataInfoID { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } For the purpose of the fuctionality I'm after, I've created another class (MyData) whose property members are of MyDataInfo type. 2) Here's myData public class MyData { public MyDataInfo Prop1 { get; set; } public MyDataInfo Prop2 { get; set; } } 3) And, here's my action method public ActionResult MyAction() { MyData myObject = new MyData(); return View(myObject); } 4) Finally, this in my View template (which is strongly typed and inherits from MyData) <% = Html.Encode (Model.Prop1.Name)%> <% = Html.Encode (Model.Prop2.Name)%> Unfortunately, I got an error "Object not set to an instance of an object."   • wxPython: Change a buttons text in a wx.FileDialog

    Hello I have a wx.FileDialog (with the wx.FD_OPEN flag) & I would like to know if I can (& how) I could change the button in the bottom right of the FileDialog from "Open" to "Create" or "Delete", etc. What I am doing is I have a button with the text "Delete Portfolio", when pressed it opens a FileDialog & allows the user to select a portfolio file(.db) to delete. So instead of the File Dialog's bottom right confirm button displaying "Open" I would like to be able to change the text to "Confirm" or "Delete" or whatever. Is this possible, its a rather superficial thing to do, but if the button says open when the user wants to select a file to delete, it can be a little confusing even if the title of the dialog says "please select a file to delete"

  • How do I get the position of a result in the list after an order_by?

    I'm trying to find an efficient way to find the rank of an object in the database related to it's score. My naive solution looks like this: rank = 0 for q in Model.objects.all().order_by('score'): if q.name == 'searching_for_this' return rank rank += 1 It should be possible to get the database to do the filtering, using order_by: Model.objects.all().order_by('score').filter(name='searching_for_this') But there doesn't seem to be a way to retrieve the index for the order_by step after the filter. Is there a better way to do this? (Using python/django and/or raw SQL.) My next thought is to pre-compute ranks on insert but that seems messy.

    Hi folks, I must say that despite this being a newb question, I don't think I have totally mastered HTML a tags. Whenever I want to open a link in a new tab I add target="_blank", works fine in chrome and firefox. Not in IE7-8. I think the behaviour might have something to do with the DOCTYPE, but I'm not entirely sure. I'm currently using HTML 4.01 Strict. Right now what I am trying to understand is: How to open links in new tabs in IE7-8 How to open links within small windows Help would be very much appreciated! :)

  • Reading Ontology with Jena, feeding it with RDF triples, and producing correct RDF string output.

    Hi, I have an ontology, which I read in with Jena to help me scrape some RDFa triples from a website. I don't currently store these triples in a Jena model, but that is fairly straight forward to do, its on my to do next list. The area I am struggling with, though, is to get Jena to output correct RDF for the ontology I have. The ontology uses Owl and RDFS definitions, but when I pass some example triples into the model, they don't appear correctly. Almost as if it doesn't know anything about the ontology. The output is, however, still valid RDF, just it's not coming out in the form I was hoping for. Am I correct in thinking that Jena should be able to produce well written RDF (not just valid) about the triples I have collected, based on the ontology or does this out stretch what it is capable of?   • MacRuby + Interface Builder: How to display, then close, then display a window again

    I'm a complete n00b with MacRuby and Cocoa, though I've got more than a year of Ruby experience, so keep that in mind when answering - I need lots of details and explanation. :) I've set up a simple project that has 2 windows in it, both of which are built with Interface Builder. The first window is a simple list of accounts using a table view. It has a "+" button below the table. When I click the + button, I want to show an "Add New Account" window. I also have an AccountsController < NSWindowController and a AddNewAccountController class, set up as the delegates for these windows, with the appropriate button click methods wired up, and outlets to reference the needed windows. When I click the "+" button in the Accounts window, I have this code fire: @add_account.center @add_account.display @add_account.makeKeyAndOrderFront(nil) @add_account.orderFrontRegardless this works great the first time I click the + button. Everything shows up, I'm able to enter my data and have it bind to my model. however, when I close the add new account form, things start going bad. if I set the add new account window to release on close, then the second time I click the + button, the window will still pop up but it's frozen. i can't click any buttons, enter any data, or even close the form. i assume this is because the form's code has been released, so there is no message loop processing the form... but i'm not entirely sure about this. if i set the add new account window to not release on close, then the second time i click the + button, the window shows up fine and it is usable - but it still has all the data that i had previously entered... it's still bound to my previous Account class instance. what am I doing wrong? what's the correct way to create a new instance of the Add New Account form, create a new Account model, bind that model to the form and show the form, when I click the + button on the Accounts form? ... this is all being done on OSX 10.6.6, 64bit, with XCode 3.2.4

    Hi all, I have a scenario where I need to localized values of objects in my database. Let's say you have an application that can create animals, if the user is english the value of the "Name" property of an animal would be entered as "Cat" in the UI whereas it would be entered as "Chat" in french. The animal culture table would contain 2 records pointing to the same animal in the parent table. When reading values back, if the value of "Name" does not exist in the user culture the default value (value the object was originally created with) would be used. The following diagrams demonstrate how the data is stored in SQL: I'm trying to map this schema to an object model using the Entity Framework, I'm a bit confused as to what the best way to approach the problem.
