  • Getting Notifications in Background Mode iOS?

    I'm trying to get Notifications in Background Mode by running a method every minute to see if there are new notifications. This works great in Active Mode, but I saw for background mode it is restricted to 7 keys. I enabled the Background Mode with the option Background Fetch, but seems like the method is being called but it's not complete. In AppDelegate I'm calling: - (void)applicationDidEnterBackground:(UIApplication *)application { //This has a Timer to execute every minute [self GetNotifications]; //This executes a NSMutableURLRequest *request //giving back the JSON data with the notifications } I would like to do something like Facebook does for Notifications. Any idea how to do this?

For that I have a following sample code : class Super{ int index = 5; public void printVal(){ System.out.println("Super"); } } class Sub extends Super{ int index = 2; public void printVal(){ System.out.println("Sub"); } } public class Runner { public static void main(String args[]){ Super sup = new Sub(); System.out.println(sup.index+","); sup.printVal(); } } Now above code is giving me output as : 5,Sub. Here, we are overriding printVal() method, so that is understandable that it is accessing child class method only. But I could not understand why it's accessing the value of x from Super class... Thanks in advance....

So, Is there a way that I can tell the server that I am encoding the data in some char encoding??

    Hi all, I have got a cookie string from HTTP response header like the following line: name=value; path=/; domain=.g.cn; expire=... I can parse the above line to key-value pairs, and, also it's easy to set the name and value to HttpCookie instance as this pair comes the first. But how to set the other pairs since I don't know which set-method corresponds to the name of the next name-value pair. Traverse all possible keys a cookie may contian and call the matched set-method, like below snippet? if (key.equalsIgnoreCase("path")) cookie.setPath(value); else if (key.equalsIgnoreCase("domain")) cookie.setDomain(value); That's foolish, any convenient ways? The trouble is that I am getting dozens of database calls - one for all the city blocks and then a separate one for each building. Is there a way that I can refactor this code to just make two calls: one for the city blocks and one for all the buildings

    if a style is used, it can not be modified agaign. so i need a clone method. but its hard to implement. what i want to do is implementing a cascading 'style' mechanism. for example, i set two style to the same frameworkelement. the same property of latter style will override the former one, while the different property remain unchanged. but if i set the style property of the frameworkelement twice directly, the 1st style will be gone. so i use the baseon property of style class to do that. but now come across another problem, the style can not be modified after it's been set to a frameworkelement. so now i need a clone method.

Should I change logsumexp() to another class ? Thanks,=)

Does C++ allow for a third class Z to subclass Y in such a way that Y's implementation of x1 and y are privately available to it, while the outside world only sees it inheriting X publicly, i.e. having only a single public method x2?

  • WPF textbox derived control override drag&drop OnPreviewDrop (C sharp)

    Hi, I have been working on my custom control derived from the TextBox and I have encountered a problem I can not solve right now. Brief description of the problem: my textbox contains plain text which contains tags which I want to keep consistent - so far I have overriden text selection so they can be selected only as a whole tag etc. Right now I have moved to processing of drag&drop. If any text is dropped on the textfield and it is dropped on the tag, I want the insertion to be moved before or after the tag. The actual problem is with setting of the e.Handled=true. If I set it to true, it almost works - the text is inserted via my routine, but it is not removed from the source. If I set it to false, after executing my method the original textbox's insertion method is run. Is there any way to alter event routing? Or am I approaching this wrong from the start?   • using helper methods in a view in rails 3

    Hello everyone, there is something that is disturbing me a bit about rails 3. i am trying to upgrade my application from rails 2 to rails 3. i followed all the steps necessary to do and things were working well for me till now except one thing: i have a helper method that is defined differently in different helpers, for example it is defined in the application_helper in one way and the same method defined in a different way in the homepage_helper, and defined differently in another helper, let's say video_helper, in addition to that, it is used in a shared view that is used throughout the application, now if i am in the homepage, i want this function to get called from the homepage_helper and if i am in the video page, the function must be called from the video_helper, based on the concept of convention in rails, this worked perfectly in rails 2 but in rails 3, the function is always called from the last helper, alphabetically ordered, that is in the example, video_helper. How can i fix this? Kindly advice. Appreciate all the help.

  • App crashes on back button / Activities & Intents

    I have an android application which starts a new activity Intent startAuthorization = new Intent(AndroidActivity, AuthorizeUser.class); startActivityForResult(startAuthorization,4711); When that new activity is done (a ok button is clicked) I call setResult(RESULT_OK, returnResult); finish(); Which works fine. In case the user doesn't click the okay button but uses the return button of the phone (this arrow pointing around to the left) the application has a force close. I have set a breakpoint on the first line of my method onActivityResult but the debugger never stops there. I have no idea where the issue comes up - how can I find out? Is there a method I have to overwrite to handle this back button?

I've tried all the ways I know of but I can't make it work. What's more surprising is that the onSave method works fine. Help ! Could this be due to this bug ? : http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-1956 How can I circumvent this bug if it's the cause ?

  • opengl es transparent fog in android

    I was wondering why the fog i use in opengl es on my android phone isn't transparent when i set the colors alpha to 0.     I am making a drupal module. My requirement in the module is that when the module is activated then it needs to add a javascript in page.tpl file just after the body tag. Can anyone help me how to do this. I have tried using drupal_add_js but it will not exactly put the script after body tag, rather puts inside the head or below in footer. I also tried using template variable and preprocess method but the problem is the preprocess method replaces the old value of that variable with the new one. Is there a way how i can implement this in.

    I am trying to implement orientation change functionality in my application.I have overrided -(void) didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation. In this method i change the frame size of the tableview(including the position of the cell items) which is present in the view. The tableview Details: Added to the view as [self.view addSubView:tableView] in the viewDidLoad method of the view controller; Cell item (row) has a textfield and a segmented control. There are 10 cells in the table view and in landscape mode only 2 cells are visible and in potrait mode 5 cells are visible. I have implemented scroller. Issue: Certain times on changing the orientation to potrait mode certain segmented controls in the cell are not rendered (Not shown at all). This happens when i am viewing the last couple of cells in the landscape mode and i change the orientation to potrait mode.

    vector< int > vect; int *int_ptr = new int(10); vect.push_back( *int_ptr ); I under stand that every "new" needs to be followed by a "delete" at some point but does the clear() method clean this memory? What about this method of doing the same thing: vector< int > vect; int int_var = 10; vect.push_back( int_var ); From what I understand, clear() calls the variables destructors, but both vect.push_back() methods in this example push an object on the vector, not a pointer. so does the first example using an int pointer need something other than clear() to clean up memory?

Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec( COMMAND ); ... the main issue of this method is that such calls are then platform specific. Ideally, I'd wrap a method into something as simple as... EXECUTE.application( CLASS_TO_BE_EXECUTED ); ... and pass in the fully qualified name of an application class as CLASS_TO_BE_EXECUTED.
