• path problem with mod_rewrite, XDebug, PDT, XAMPP and Windows XP

  My mod_rewrite turns accounts/create into index.php?folder=accounts&action=create, but pdt ignores it, so when I try to start a PHP Script debug session, I have to type a folder location in the file field and pdt doesn't accept. When PDT auto generates the URL for the PHP Web Page debug session, I go to http://localhost/myframe/index.php?XDEBUG%5FSESSION%5FSTART=ECLIPSE%5FDBGP&KEY=12569067976875, but myframe is in the frameworks folder, so I get a 404 error. When I check a breakpoint, uncheck Auto Generate, add frameworks before myframe in URL, set Start Debug from http://localhost/frameworks/myframe/accounts/create in Advanced and click Debug, the debugger doesn't stop at the breakpoint.

• Adobe CS5.1; I want the measure tool as the default; when I use Ctrl-I, the measure (ruler) tool appears... is this sort of thing possible?

  I scan many slides, transparencies, and negatives. I need to straighten them often. I would like the ruler/measurement tool under CTRL-I to remain as the default with eveery start of Photoshop. Is it possible to make it the default instead of the eyedropper tool? Perhaps a shortcut key of its own might work as well... where one keystroke will bring it to the top... will it stay there? hmmm. . . I've just given myself an idea... (LOL)

• Removing port forwardings programmatically on a ControlMaster SSH session

  Quite a while ago I got an answer telling me how to add a port-forwarding on a running SSH ControlMaster process. To know that helps a lot, but I'm still missing a way to remove such a port forwarding after I don't need that anymore. As far as I know, you can do that through the internal command key sequence on normal connections, this seems to be disabled for ControlMaster clients. Even if that would be possible I would need a solution which I can automatize with scripts, which is surely not so easy this way. Is there a way to do it? And is it easily automatizable?

However I'm wondering if it's possible to do this alongside HTTP, so that i do not need another server{} section which would just be a replication of the http section. • screensavergraceperiod not working

  Good Morning, in windows XP there is a registry setting called ScreenSaverGracePeriod which lets you set a time period between the activation of the screensaver and locking of the screen. As as result, as soon as you see the screensaver beeing activated, you have X seconds to press a key or move the mouse in order to avoid having to log in again. Unfortunately, this setting isn't working on my machine. I tried everything I could find on the net (setting the period as stirng or number), but it still does not work. Could it be that some kind of security suite (Symantec) or anything else is blocking this feature? Cheers, Ralf

• Having XP VM use my host OSX ssh tunnel to connect to a remote site?

  I am using Mac OSX and have Windows XP running on VMWare Fusion. I'm creating an ssh tunnel from OSX to a remote server, and then trying to have Windows XP use that tunnel (I actually use a program called Proxifier on XP to filter my XP MS SQL Server traffic through that tunnel) Note that I can successfully create an ssh tunnel (on port 9333) from the XP putty to the remote host, and have SQL Server Proxify through that tunnel and it all works correctly. However when I try to set up the tunnel in OSX, and have Proxifier in XP point to the OSX tunnel instead of localhost, it doesn't seem to connect. Here is the OSX command i'm using to create the tunnel: ssh -i /my/key -p 9001 -D 9333 -g me@remotehostname Then I set my XP proxifier to point to macosxhostname:9333 (instead of the previous localhost:9333 which worked corrently when using putty) Any suggestions on what I may have missed? My XP firewall is turned off while setting this up.

• Using Umbraco&rsquo;s Dropdown Datatype

  In Umbraco, you could consider document types like models and data types as property types for those modes. For example, you may create a document type called “Prices” to represent a page that displays a list of prices. And, then, you might create a document type called “Price Item” to represent the price list items. A property called “Price” could then represent the price of an item. When you create the Price property, you specify the data type, which in this case might be “Number”, indicating that this particular field accepts only numerical values. Consequently, you could also create a drop down list property called “Category”, allowing you to categorize the items in your price list. To add items to the drop down list, you modify the data type definition in the Developer module of the Umbraco administrative utility. Instead of modifying the drop down data type itself, you should first make a copy by right-clicking on the Data Types node and choosing Create. Give your new data type a name in the Create dialog and click the Create button. In the Edit datatype dialog, change “Render control” to “Dropdown list”.  To add your list items, simply enter that value into the textbox next to “Add prevalue” and click Save or press the Enter key. Now that you have a new drop down list data type created, along with assigned list items, you can use it in your document type definitions just like you would the other data types.

• Windows 7 won't read from NAS on LAN

  I've got a Linkstation NAS drive on a local network. Having just got a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Professional, I can no longer read anything of the drive. I've tried accessing the drive using \192.168.1.55\share, using ftp programs such as WinSCP, filezilla and even using firefox to hit ftp://192.168.1.55. The really annoying thing is that through these methods I can see the files on the drive, counting out any kind of connection issues. I can navigate through the NAS file system, but as soon as I try and copy a file off the NAS, things just stop working. Accessing the drive through a Windows XP machine works fine. So far I've tried: Disabling firewalls Adding the LmCompatibilityLevel key to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa Using the 40 - 56 bit encryption instead of the 128 bit. Has anyone got any suggestions of what I can check or try? This is driving me crazy and I'm totally out of ideas?

  On Linux you can create any layout you wish by editing the appropriate ASCII configuration files. On Windows the keyboard layout definitions are binary. Is there any tool that can create these binary keyboard layout configuration files? I grew up on the Macintosh international keyboard layout, which used the option key extensively, and now I would like to use the same layout on Windows. On Linux this Mac international keyboard layout exists for both the console as well as for X.Org. On Windows, the most similar layout is US International, which is not the same.

• Announcing Berkeley DB Java Edition Major Release

  Berkeley DB Java Edition 5.0 was just released. There are a number of new features, enhancements, and options in there that our users have been asking for. Chief among them is a new class called DiskOrderedCursor, which greatly increases performance of systems using spinning platter magnetic hard drives. A number of users expressed interest in this feature, including Alex Feinberg of LinkedIn. Berkeley DB Java Edition is part of Project Voldemort, a distributed key/value database used by LinkedIn. There have been many other improvements and optimizations. Concurrency is significantly improved, as is the performance of update and delete operations. New and interesting methods include Environment.preload, which allows multiple databases to be preloaded simultaneously. New Cursor methods enable for more effective searching through the database. We continue to enhance Berkeley DB Java Edition’s High Availability as well. One new feature is the ability to open a replicated node read-only when the master is unavailable. This can allow critical systems to continue offering some functionality, even during a network or master node failure. There’s a lot more in release 5.0.   On this Monday morning my thoughts center on why is it so hard to embrace governance, any form of governance for that matter, be it software development governance, SOA governance, data governance, IT governance, so on a so fourth?Most customers that I meet tend to think that they don't need don't need governance as all is good within the enterprise. The question I generally pose to colleges and customers, is you have to think of governance as an insurance policy. Take of instance, if you just bought a new car, perhaps your "dream" car, would you drive it on the open streets without having the car insured? Probably not.Governance is what insurance is to new cars, be it to SOA, IT transformations and software development. Governance is a insurance policy against risk of failure. Now once I put it in this context, ask yourself, does governance have value to your organization? Most people now get it. Once the seed of governance is planted at the executive level of an organization, it becomes a exercise in planting an that idea into key personnel within the organization.   I have installed Microsoft Office on my new Windows 7 64-bit system. Recently, it encounter some error and I tried to re-install it. It wasn't successful. So, I have to use Microsoft Install Clean Up to uninstall Microsoft Office. When I tried to install it again, I received this message: Microsoft Office 2007 encountered an error during setup. Error 1402. Setup cannot open the registry key. {a bunch of long keys}. Verify that you have sufficient permissions to access the registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Service for assistance. For information about how to contact PSS, see {a *chm file}. After that, I tried to run the setup as administrator but I ended up with the same error. So what should I do to solve this problem?

• OSSEC agent behind NAT

  I am working on an OSSEC deployment where I will have multiple agents behind 1 public IP. Below is an example of the setup Private Network OSSEC-Agent1 (192.168.1.10) OSSEC-Agent2 (192.168.50.33) OSSEC-Agent3 (10.10.10.1) Those IPs NAT to 1 public IP (1.1.1.1) Then 1.1.1.1 talks to the public OSSEC server on 2.2.2.2 I've read some OSSEC documentation talking about NAT here, but it doesn't tell me exactly what I need to know. Their example is using an entire /24 subnet and mine will mainly have multiple agents to only 1 public IP. With the setup so far, I brought Agent1 online fine and it is communicating to the OSSEC server. However Agent2 continues to fail trying to connect to 2.2.2.2. Even though when I added the key, I had the correct name for it, so I know it talked to the portal at least once for that information. I'm assuming it's just getting confused with the multiple keys to 1 public IP. I basically want to know if this is possible and/or if I'm just overlooking something simple. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Some websites like Google Drive intercept right-clicks and provide their own context menu. This is usually what I want, but sometimes I still want to do a normal, native browser right-click. Is there any modifier key or something like that to make it so a right-click doesn't trigger a click event on the web page, so it can't show it's context menu? I want to do this per-click, not by changing a setting somewhere. If there are different techniques depending on browser/OS, please list them.

  Hi all, our mysql system is "freezing" every two days. By "freezing" i mean the following: it doesn't respond to ping we can't login with SSH we don't get any answer from MySQL there is no entry in the error logs! neither from linux neither from MySQL. we have already changed to a completely new hardware, we have the same problem, so it's definitely not a hardware problem. we do not have any other software installed except a firewall (iptables rule) we can restart the server from another server using rsyslog (www.rsyslog.com)(software reset) Could someone help me, by giving me some pointers what could i do to figure out the problem? We still don't know what's the problem.

• Pygame Tile Based Character movement speed

  Thanks for taking the time to read this. Right now I'm making a really basic tile based game. The map is a large amount of 16x16 tiles, and the character image is 16x16 as well. My character has its own class that is an extension of the sprite class, and the x and y position is saved in terms of the tile position. To note I am fairly new to pygame. My question is, I am planning to have character movement restricted to one tile at a time, and I'm not sure how to make it so that, even if the player hits the directional key dozens of time quickly, (WASD or arrow keys) it will only move from tile to tile at a certain speed. How could I implement this generally with pygame? (Similar to game movement of like Pokemon or NexusTk). Edit: I should probably note that I want it so that the player can only end a movement in a tile. He couldn't stop moving halfway inbetween a tile for example. Thanks for your time! Ryan
