• make qt programs look good under XFCE?

  I use xfce. My problem is - some programs look nice and some sort of ugly. AFAIK this is because XFCE is gtk and most programs use gtk theme, but some programs use qt and thus don't use gtk themes (rocket science right there). So - my question is - how can I apply some theme to these qt programs? Can I download some qt theme and drop into ~/.themes? would that work? Qt programs don't have to look absolutely the same as gtk ones - I don't care about that. But I want them at least not to look so dam ugly.:) thanks !

  Pardon me if this is a repeat question,but I've been searching google for vain since the past few days, I'm a flash actionscript game developer who is a bit backward with mathematics, though I find physics both interesting and cool. Similiar game : Untangled flash game I have made an untangled game almost to full completion of logic. But, when two lines intersect , I need those intersected or 'tangled' lines to show a different color; red. It would be really kind of you people if you could suggest an algorithm with / without math for detecting line segment collisions. I'm basically a person who likes to think 'visually' than 'arithmetically' :) P.S I'm trying to make a function as private function isIntersecting(A:Point, B:Point, C:Point, D:Point):Boolean Thanks in advance.   While discussing a question about virtual functions on Stack Overflow, I wondered whether there was any official naming for pure (abstract) and non-pure virtual functions. I always relied on wikipedia for my information, which states that pure and non-pure virtual functions are the general term. Unfortunately, the article doesn't back it up with a origin or references. To quote Jon Skeet's answer to my reply that pure and non-pure are the general term used: @Steven: Hmm... possibly, but I've only ever seen it in the context of C++ before. I suspect anyone talking about them is likely to have a C++ background :) Did the terms originate from C++, or were they first defined or implemented in a earlier language, and are they the 'official' scientific terms?

I have a website which is called let's say www.website1.com on different hosting provider(siteground) I have www.website2.com Now,www.website1.com is the old website and the boss wants .. IF someone clicks on www.website1.com/user/content/1, he/she should be redirected to www.website2.com/user/content/1 ,but the url should REMAIN www.website1.com/user/content/1 and the same thing for all the pages.   My question is, who are software design engineers? And, what is the meaning of the following statement (from a software design engineer job ad)? "Application domain knowledge is essential and....." What is application domain? SDLC? My hope is to become a software engineer one day (OK, to be honest, more than that. I need to be a legend), that who do programming (They say this job has no programming). I am following final year of my Bsc(Hons) in computing and I have completed a foreign diploma, majoring software engineering - Java technologies. • Advice for good web server development setup.

  A month or so ago I created my first LAMP stack and implemented a simple web site that exercised each letter in that acronym. However my development setup was much less than ideal. I don't really have a local test server, but instead I was writing all of my CGI scripts in vim while ssh'ed into the remote machine as root. Now I intend to start more serious development. Question: What is a good setup so that development goes as easily as possible? I would like to understand what is available to me along the lines of an IDE, subversion (or alternatives), uploading and downloading content, and just best practices. I'm pretty new at all of this. Also, feel free to point me at good websites. There's plenty of websites, but only people who are already heavily developing web content are able to quickly determine if they are good websites.

  We made on our webpage https://www.1point618.com a transition to ssl and now we using nearly entirely ajax to load the content. Therefore all urls of existing pages have changed. We used the 301 redirect as recommended, also we have implemented google's specification that the webpage is still crawl-able. We thought that maybe it would last a month that we have the same ranking in google's search results, but still google's search results are much worse than before these changes. Most of the content (artist profiles) isn't indexed anymore. For example of the submitted sitemap only 3 of around 450 urls are indexed. Before almost all urls were indexed. My question is now: Does google's ajax crawling work together with ssl? (It looks like it would work, cause of the access log file.)

  There are lots of "lo: Disabled Privacy Extensions" in var/log/messages . I googled and find it is ipv6 releated, so I tried to disable ipv6. I added the following lines to /etc/sysctl.conf net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6=1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6=1 and blacklist ipv6 to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf after that, I restarted the network by /etc/init.d/networking restart . My question is: The ip addr still shows inet6 address attached to eth0 in forms like inet6 fe80::212:79ff:fecf:edaf/64 scope link Does it means my ipv6 not disabled?

• libgdx spite position relative to body

  Apologies if this is a reiteration, as I couldn't find another discussion of this over the past couple days. Issue: I'm using libgdx and box2d, and I'm currently updating the sprite's position to the body's current position every render call. Using a debugRenderer to see the bodies, I see that there is fairly noticeable lag between the movement/position of the body and the sprite that is being moved relative to it. Question: Is this lag normal, possibly to perform collisions ahead of time? If not, should I be manipulating/relating the positions differently? Thanks in advance! [Solution] This was a coding error on my part. Pointed out by a good reply below, I was updating the position of the sprite relative to the body and then stepping the physics. Thus never actually setting the sprite to the body's CURRENT position. Thanks!

• Byobu Split Screens attaching to same session

  On a brand new install of Precise, after installing byobu, I'm facing the following behaviour: ie. all internal splits on byobu (using Ctrl+F2) will just attach to the same screen session. What I type on the left is reflected on the right. The solutions on this question while on the same problem do not help me out. I've tried the following: byobu-disable both inside and outside the byobu session byobu new-session byobu shell just runs a new simple screen session as far as I can figure it out. This does not include terminal splits, so it does not help me. byobu -S screen-name lets me create two separate byobu sessions, but split screens lead to duplicates in both.

To drag and put at right positing i need to make Rect but i am not getting idea how to make Rect of this irregular shape, I will be very thankful to you, any idea or code to make rect . • Songs bought from the Ubuntu One Music store showing Unknown Album/Artist in streaming app

  I've been using Ubuntu one for several years and have purchased several albums from the Ubuntu One music store. All was well while I was playing them from Rhythmbox or Banshee. However, I recently started using the U.O. streaming android app and streaming section of the one.ubuntu.com website and most of my music appears to be untagged. What is going on? Before this question is dismissed as a duplicate, let me reiterate the crucial differences: ALL of the music in my U.O. account was bought in the Ubuntu One music store. This is NOT music that I ripped or bought elsewhere The mp3s that end up on my hard drive DO appear to be tagged correctly The issue affects the U.O. Streaming Music Android app AND the website (viewed in Chrome on my Win7 work PC) Is this some problem with the streaming service? Is there anything I can do?

  I asked a question here on programmers yesterday about learning HTML & CSS and the community was pretty generous to provide great answers. One of the answers was given by Emmad Kareem and that was : "if you can't do HTML, don't give up. Consider using Silverlight". This answer made me visit Silverlight.net and I came across the terms WCF RIA Services, Silverlight applications. After going through the website and some articles on website i am unable to draw a conclusive understanding on what this is all about. Is this another way of building websites using .NET, and is just like another framework like ASP.NET MVC3. What scenario's and requirements are basically targeted to silverlight applications or we are free to use either of Asp.net MVC or Silverlight in any web-application requirements.

  I have Intel Graphics Card, which have model number GM965. It is on a Notebook, (Lenovo 3000 Y410). My Ubuntu Installation worked good until I upgraded to 12.04. It was a fresh install. The Graphics performance is poor compared to Natty, Oneiric. In the details tab of System Settings, Graphics driver is shown as "Unknown". I have upgraded the xserver-xorg-video-intel package to version 2.19.. from 2.17. But still same. So, My question is How can I install latest Intel graphics driver for my Chipset? or Is there any other method to fix the problem with graphics.

• Screen magnifier wrecks login screen — how to get rid of it?

  In the Ubuntu / GNOME login screen, I tried some of the different accessibility settings out of curiosity. Big mistake! Enabling the "use screen magnifier" (or whatever) option breaks down the view horribly, and makes it impossible to even access the settings again: (Right click & View Image for full size) Yes, I tried to access every corner of the screen using the mouse, but there's just chaos everywhere. Fortunately, I can still log in (pressing "Esc" makes the normal login dialog appear on the left-hand monitor). My question is, how to disable the "magnifier" option outside of the login screen itself? (By editing some config file perhaps?) I don't care about getting the magnifier mode to work properly - just make it go away altogether, please.

  Hello all, Ive recently downloaded joomla using an instant download option, and now im looking to create my own templates, so i went to http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/joomla15/joomla_create_template.htm and Im trying to follow the tuturial but ive failed at the first hurdle... where it says "First, open the "templates" directory in your Joomla installation. Then create a subfolder in it named "tutorial_template". All the files of your template will reside in it." The problem is I have no clue how to do this, where is the directory to start with?? the only thing I know how to get up is the administrators screen, in which I have to choose one of the stock templates, which would be great if I didnt care about my own designs...but obviously im looking to have my own html and css coding used instead. How do I find where the folders are and how do I open them? Im sorry if its a bit of a dumb question but im so confused..so early on. Thanks in advance. Ryan
