• Alt+click-drag window resizing on a Mac? (Similar to X-Windows)

  Is there a way I can get this behavior on Mac OS? alt + right-click-drag will resize the window, relative to where you've clicked within the window and the window's center alt + left-click-drag will move the window, regardless of where you've clicked within the window.   I have an app GotYou.app in Mac, which seems to be a single file(I know it is not, but appears to be so). And we can just drag and drop it into the iTunes in Mac. But when i copied it into windows OS for copying that into another iTunes - It appears to be a small file along with a folder. How can I copy this itunes so that I can install this into an iPhone?

  My Sony Vaio laptop has a built-in program called "Sony Battery Care" which provides a functionality to hold battery at certain levels of charge while operating. For example, I've set it to 50% and the battery is always kept at that level while on AC power. This mode prevents battery degradation and is more effective as I usually use my laptop with AC power. I'm looking for a similar program to use with other laptops with Windows OS; preferably a free one.

• Windows 8 black screen with mouse pointer after login

  I restarted my system today and after logging in, i could see see nothing but a black screen with mouse pointer. I can start task manager via alt+ctrl+del, Task manager and msconfig show fine but when i try to run 'explorer' nothing happens. In safe mode everything seems fine. I do not have any system restore points and repair options from the DVD show "this option is not available for the selected OS" I've also updated my graphic drivers. Didn't help

• Cloning a VM to add a new MySQL Slave

  I am in the process of adding a new slave to a replicated mysql setup. All of the slave nodes are virtual machines. If I clone one of the nodes to a new VM, then start it with no networking, stop mysql, change the server-id in my.cnf to a new id and then restart mysql and networking, will it all work correctly, or will mysql get confused because it used to be a different server id? • Alternative to VLC player [closed]

  I've been using VLC player but since the latest version (2.0.1) it's rendering all the Hebrew subtitles as question marks. I'm looking for a good free alternative that runs on Windows OS. I prefer a player with a huge dashboard and zillion preferences where all the possible options are customizable. Once ago I used MV2 player and loved that type of player that supports all the possible tweaks etc. etc.

  I got used to OS X way of doing things (separate shortcuts for switching between applications and switching between current application's windows). Is there a way to get Compiz to have a shortcut (such as Super+Tab) to switch between applications ("window groups") instead of between windows? I already got the "Scale" plugin (an expose clone) to display only windows from current window group, proving there is a way to group by application, but I cannot find a way to get the "Application Switcher" to switch between these groups instead of between windows themselves.

Any ideas on where to troubleshoot? • LAN connection loses network access randomly

  Hi, Windows 7 is a great OS but there are some problems which should be solved from Microsoft as fast as possible. On my Computer the LAN connection randomly loses its connection. I don't know why but I think this problem depends on my network driver which is only available for Windows XP (where it always worked perfectly). I can not reproduce this issue. Has anybody here had the same problem?

• Cannot write DVDs anymore, but can read them and write CDs

  I'm stumped. I used to be able to write to DVDs and now I can't. I've tried different media (Memorex and Imations) I've tried different drives (internal and external) and even different OS's (Windows 7 and Linux Mint). Nothing I've done will work and it's a real problem not being able to burn DVD's. I'm on an Acer 6930 if that helps. Does anyone have any ideas?

• Could one hypothetically upgrade a computer from Windows 95 to Windows 8

  Hypothetically, could you start with a computer running Windows 95, upgrade this to Windows 98, then upgrade this to Windows XP, then upgrade this to Vista, then to 7 and finally to 8 (consumer preview)? What state would the OS be in after so many upgrades? Would any of the native Windows 95 apps still be sticking around in Windows 8? Has anybody done anything like this before?   Every time I open iTunes I get the the following warning: Do you want the application "iTunes.app" to accept incoming network connections? Clicking Deny may limit the application's behavior. This setting can be changed in the Firewall pane of Security preferences. I always click "Allow" but it still pops up. I set the OS X firewall to allow incoming connections for iTunes. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
