    Hi guys, i'm trying to make a "update user's power" page. It is something similar to those you can find in say, invisionfree forums. I need it to generate a list of members with checkbox [done] Add an option for it [done] What i don't know how to do is to update, to say, give all the selected users the selected power. Then i went searching for something and found most of them uses array to do this, but i never found one that actually explains how it works.   • Data sync solution?

    For some security issues I'm in an envorinment where third party apps can't access my DB. For this reason I should have some service/tool/script (dunno what yet... i'm open to the best option, still reading to see what I'm gonna do...) which enables me to generate on a regular basis(daily, weekly, monthly) some csv file with all new/modified records for a certain application. I should be able to automate this process and also export at any time a new file. So it should keep track for each application which records he still needs. Each application will need some data in some other format (csv/xls/sql), also some fields will be needed for some application and some aren't... It should be fairly flexible... What is the best option for me? Creating some custom tables for each application? Based on that extracting modified data?

How can I add an Developer to a Project through the nested_attributes method? The following does not work: @p.people_attributes = [{:name => "Epic Beard Man", :type => "Developer"}] @p.people => [#<Person id: nil, name: "Epic Beard Man", type: nil>] As you can see the type attributes is set to nil instead of Developer.

What bothers me is that the snippet of code above returns no results; essentially meaning that the way that the query is being executed is wonky. I executed the SQL query (including the set variables with actual values, and it returned the correct number of results). If I modify the query to just be a simple SELECT FROM query (SELECT * FROM poi_table) it returns results. What is going on here?

    Hi, I posted a similar problem but it could not be resolved. I create a relational database of users and groups but for some reason I cannot insert test data with fixtures properly.     I am using SubSonic 2.1 and entcountered a problem while executing a Transaction with SharedDbConnectionScope and TransactionScope. The problem is that in the obj.Save() method I get an "The connection must be valid and open" exception I tracked down the problem to this line: // Loads a SubSonic ActiveRecord object User user = new User(User.Columns.Username, "John Doe"); in this Constructor of the User class a method "LoadParam" is called which eventually does if (rdr != null) rdr.Close(); It looks like the rdr.Close() implicitly closes my connection which is fine when using the AutomaticConnection. But during a transaction it is usally not a good idea to close the connection :-) My Question is if this is by design or if it's an error in the MySqlDataReader.

    I am reading a 'kind' of csv file and exploding it and storing it in array. The file I am reading has this structure Id,Log,Res,File mydb('Test1','log1','Pass','lo1.txt'). mydb('Test2','log2','Pass','lo2.txt'). mydb('Test3','log3','Pass','lo3.txt'). Now what I am trying to do is : reading the last record in my database, get the Name, lets say in this case 'Test1' and then I am searching through my file and where I can find the position of 'Test1' and get the next lines in the file, extract the ID,s and add it to database. I am getting the position of desired string in the file, but I am not sure how to get the next lines too.     Is there a way to handle the dynamic change of a dropdown for a single row in a grid-based datawindow? Example: NAME LIKABILITY PURCHASED IN COLOUR (Text) (DropDown*) (Text) (Text) Bananas [Good] Hands Yellow [Bad] [Bananas are good] Apples [Good] Bags Red [Bad] Given the above is a grid-based datawindow, where the fields 'NAME','PURCHASED IN' and 'COLOUR' are text fields, where as the 'LIKABILITY' field is a dropdown*. I say dropdown* because the same visual representation can be created by using a DropDownList (hardcoded within the datawindow element at design time), or a DropDownDW (or DDDW, a select statement that can be based on other elements in the datawindow). However, there is no way I can get 'Bananas' having it's 3 dropdowns, while Apples has only 2. If I enter multiple rows of 'Bananas', then all rows have 3 dropdowns, but as soon as I add an Apples row, all dropdowns revert to 2 selections. To attempt to achieve this functionality, I have tried the following options: -- 1) dw_1.Object.likability.values("Good~tG/Bad~tB/Bananas are good~tDRWHO") on ue_itemchange when editing NAME. FAILS: edits all instances of LIKABILITY instead of the current row. -- 2) Duplicate Dropdowns, having one filtered, one unfiltered selection list per row, visible based on NAME selection. FAILS: can't set visibility/overlapping columns on grid-based datawindow. (Source) -- 3) Hard-code display value as Database value, or Vice Versa. Have 'GOOD','BAD','BANANASAREGOOD' as the display and database values, and change handling of options from G, B, DRWHO to these new values. FAILS: 3rd option appears for all rows, still selectable on Apple rows, which is wrong. -- 4) DDDW retrieve list of options for dropdown. Create a DDDW that uses the value of NAME to determine what selections it should have for the dropdown. FAILS: edits all instances of the dropdown, not just the current row. -- 5) DDDW retrieve counter of options available (if B then 3 else 2), then have duplicate dropdown columns that protect/unprotect based on DDDW counter. FAILS: Can't autoselect dddw value to populate column to cause protect on other two columns, ugly solution in any case. -- There is now a bounty on this question for anyone who can give me a solution that will enable me to edit a dropdown column for a single row on a grid-based datawindow in PB 10.5

    Hi everybody, I've though a bit about the activerecord vs. manual queries in Codeigniter. ActiveRecord is awesome when it's all about standard queries and holds development time really low. However, when there's a need to add some complexity to the queries, the ActiveRecord gets quite complicated to work with. Sub queries or complex joins gives atleast me a lot of headache. Since the current "$this-db-query" -call immediately executes the set query, it can't be combined with normal activeRecord calls. So, what can I do to combine the two methods? Thanks!
