• Spotlight search with PHP

  Hi. I want to add a spotlight search functionality - search results being displayed with rich contents like thumbnail etc in a drop down menu changing on each keyup event - just like the apple.com search - to a site, having data in MySQL InnoDB tables. The data is spread into separate tables for categories, help pages, blog pages and so on. The search script must take into account just a subset of columns. Since it seems to be a popular demand, I guess there are some PHP search engine projects (preferably open-source and with memcached support), which could be integrated into the existing system on the basis of regular exports of relevant data from the working db/tables. Are there any solutions out there? Which one would you recommend? Or maybe it would be better to implement it the other way around? Thanks

• Image Data via Ajax - how can I display the image on the Page

  I am creating a Domino Document via AJAX that contains a photo. I am able to get the base64 image data back to the server in a Notes Domino Document. Data is stored in a Richtext (textarea) field as "data:image/jpeg;base64,/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQAAAQABAAD/2wBDAFA..........." - (this goes on for several lines) I am trying to display on the Domino Webpage using passthru tag <<image id= "pic1" >> in the onLoad event of the Form i try to shove the data into the image element using this code: //Photo Stuff alert(document.forms[0].photo1.value); document.getElementById("pic1").src = document.forms[0].photo1.value; The alert is showing the data. • Adding DOM elements using contentEditable

  Hi all, I've created an editable div, and I want to replace smiley signs with smiley images. But whenever I replace a string with a dom element (<img> or <span> or whatever..), the div stops being editable (i.e. I can see the caret when I click on text, but can add no characters to it). What's going on? • Selecting MXML siblings with actionscript, like javascript?

  I'm trying to get the sibling of an mxml tag similar to the way siblings are selected in javascript. Is this possible in Actionscript?   I have been reading about Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS). I sort of wonder how would this work with ASP.NET MVC? I get the idea of CQRS conceptually it sounds nice and sure does introduce some complexities (event and messaging pattern) compared to the "normal/common" approach . Also the idea of CQRS sort of against the use of ORM in some ways. I am trying to think how I could use this pattern in the coming projects so if anyone has experience in combining CQRS with ASP.NET MVC and NHibernate please give some concrete examples to help me better understand CQRS and use with ASP.NET MVC. • Workaround for richfaces combobox hotkey bug

  Hi, Does anyone know a workaround for the bug https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/RF-8076 ? Just to clarify things, we have a form with multiple inputs, one of them being a combobox with auto complete features. We've setup a hotkey via <rich:hotKey key="return" ... /> It works great everywhere except in the combobox, and I would really like to get it working on the combobox as well. The behaviour I want when the ENTER key is pressed inside the combobox is: If the combobox context was modified by auto complete then do nothing Else action the event on ENTER key pressed We're running on seam/richfaces. I'm open to any workaround, but simplicity is much sought for. Thanks!

• When Does the File Download Dialog Open? - HTML, Javascript

  Hello, I have a html page, and when I click a file link on the page, the file download dialog pops up, and this file dialog locks the page. I mean without selecting one of the choices(Open, Save, Cancel) I can't do anything on the page (which is normal). What I need is if javascript can check whether the page is locked or not. (or whether the file dialog is popped?) p.s. don't say "put an onclick event to the link", because the server may respond very slowly (like 30 seconds after clicking)

• Creating many new instances vs reusing them?

  I have multiple business entities in VB.NET Windows Forms application. Right now they are instanced on application startup and used when needed. They hold descriptions of business entities and methods for storing and retrieving data. To cut the long story short, they are somewhat heavy objects to construct (they have some internal dictionaries and references to other objects) created and held in one big global variable called "BLogic". Should I refactor this so that each object is created when needed and released when out of scope? Then every event on UI will probably create a few of this objects. Should I strive to minimize creation of new objects or to minimize number of static and global objects? Generally I am trying to minimize the scope of every variable but should I treat this business logic objects specially?

• How to use a CTabCtrl in a MFC dialog based application ?

  I need to do something which i expected to be was simple - create a tab control which has 2 tabs, implying 2 modes of operation for my app. When user clicks on Tab1, he'll be presented with some buttons and textboxes, and when he clicks Tab2, some other input method. I noticed that there was a CTabCtrl class thats used in MFC to add tabs. However, once I added the tab ctrl using the UI designer, I couldn't specify how many tabs there'll be using property window. Searching on the net, I found some examples but all of them required you to derive from CtabCtrl , create 2 or more child dialogs etc and to write your own custom class. My question is, since I want to do something so basic, why couldn't I do it using the familiar Add Event handler/Add member variable wizard and then handle everything else inside my app's class ? Surely, the default CTabCtrl class can do something useful without needing to derive from it ?

  I need to make a little JS app to scroll automatically through a list of URLs. I've chosen to have the functionality in a pop-up, for various reasons. The syntax to change the opening window's URL is: window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example.com"; This works fine with one URL, but if two statements are called, only one is executed. I experimented with an alert statement between two of the above statements, and the alert event made the second statement function properly: window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example1.com"; alert("hello world"); window.opener.location.href = "http://www.example2.com"; Question is: does anyone know how to get the first and second window.opener statements to work, without the intervening alert();? Also, how can I add a pause between the two statements, so that the second executes a couple of seconds after the first? Thanks so much!

• Silverlight - rebinding to a property?

  Hello, I'm just getting started with silverlight. Basically I have a silverlight user control that has various dataGrids and a combobox, their item sources set to the properties of a custom plain c# object. My problem is that I have a dropdown list that when a user selects an item from the list a new row should appear in one of the grids. All I'm doing is handling the SelectionChanged event and adding a new item to to a list in my custom object and setting the itemsource for the grid again. This doesnt seem to work; no row is added to the dataGrid I have no idea how to force my grid to "rebind" to this property. I've been reading about dependency properties, are these what I need? Any pointers would be really appreciated.

• C# WinForms: How to load an image, then wait a few seconds, then play a mp3 sound ?

  Hello everybody, (after pressing a button) i would like to show an image (using a picturebox), wait a few seconds and then play a mp3 sound, but i dont get it to work. To wait a few seconds i use "System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000)". The problem is, the image alway appears AFTER the wait time, but i want it to show first, then wait, then play the mp3... i tried to use "WaitOnLoad = true" but it doesnt work, shouldn't it load the image first and the continue to read the next code line ?? Here is the code i've tried, that doesnt work: private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { pictureBox1.WaitOnLoad = true; pictureBox1.Load("image.jpg"); System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(5000); MessageBox.Show("test"); //just to test, here should be the code to play the mp3 } (i also tried loading the image with "LoadAsync" and put the code to wait and play the mp3 in the "LoadCompleted" event, but that doesnt work either...) would be very nice if somebody helps me

• How to effectively draw on desktop in C#?

  I want to draw directly on the desktop in C#. From searching a bit, I ended up using a Graphics object from the Desktop HDC (null). Then, I painted normally using this Graphics object. The problem is that my shapes get lost when any part of the screen is redrawn. I tried a While loop, but it actually ends up drawing as fast as the application can, which is not the update rate of the desktop. Normally, I would need to put my drawing code in a "OnPaint" event, but such thing does not exist for the desktop. How would I do it?   A panel contains two labels which are generated by mouse clicks on the panel. I want to connect these two labels by drawing a line between them probably by dragging the mouse pointer from one label to another. There are two events here - one is clicking on the panel to generate the labels and the second is connecting these two labels (mouse pressed, mouse dragged and mouse released events). Both these event need to call the repaint() method but for different purposes. But there can be only one paint() method. The problem is when I connect these two labels, the line comes up but the rest of the components on the panel disappear.

• How to get DayNames from language only in .NET

  Assume that I only have a country code (en, de, fr) and I need to display the weekdays in this language. I know about RegionInfo and CultureInfo - but I can't find a solution. If I create a country info from (for an example) "en" I have no DateTime info in it. It would also be OK to just take the first matching Region. For an example en-US for en or de-DE for de. I don't know if there are differences in DayNames but I know there are some for the months. de-DE Februar - de-AT Feber -- anyhow I don't care. Event if it may be "a bit different" (to see Februar instead of Feber) - it is still German. And that's what I want to achive - get en an write Monday - get de and write Montag... Is there a way to create a region just from a language code?

On top of this Delphi 2007 now requires being launced as an administrator to launcg a debugging process for the app. Question 1 : How can I see what is causing this besides starting from scratch in a new exe - IOW is there a log somewhere I can check Question 2 : Will using a signed exe using authenticode still cause the UAC alert to show

• Distinguish UI change to variable from code-behind change

  Like the title says I am trying to architecture into my application a way to distinguish the source of a variable change, either from UI or code-behind. My problem is that I need to trigger some action after a property changed its value, but I only need to do this when the change comes from the UI because otherwise I don-t want to perform that action. I am having some trouble because, for example when a checkbox(two way binding), changes state, my binded property gets updated and then I use the checked and uncheked events to trigger that action.The problem is that when I change the property in codebehind it also triggers those events and I do not want that. Right now, i am using a flag that enables, or not, the actions at the event handlers but I do not feel that this is a good idea. Any sugestions or ideas? I am considering using only one-way binding and control everything my self, using commands.

• Any difference between lazy loading Javascript files vs. placing just before </body>

  Looked around, couldn't find this specific question discussed. Pretty sure the difference is negligible, just curious as to your thoughts. Scenario: All Javascript that doesn't need to be loaded before page render has been placed just before the closing </body> tag. Are there any benefits or detriments to lazy loading these instead through some Javascript code in the head that executes when the DOM load/ready event is fired? Let's say that this only concerns downloading one entire .js file full of functions and not lazy loading several individual files as needed upon usage. Hope that's clear, thanks.

  I am using ACTION_MY_PACKAGE_REPLACED to receive when my app is updated or resinstalled. My problem is that the event is never triggered (I tried Eclipse and real device).
