  One of our clients is getting a bit worried about the new "Do Not Track" feature of Internet Explorer 10. Her site is heavily dependent on php sessions (as I imagine many other sites are). This was what she was reading: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-18288710 I need some clarification, will this affect how sessions (or cookies) work on normal web sites that use the PHP $_SESSION array? Or is it regarding only how advertising works (engadget's article seems to insinuate this)? Can anyone provide a more technical overview (and the ramifications) of PHP-powered websites?

  Creating a connection string by hand is quite difficult, however you create a connection string as follows: 1) Create an empty text file in windows explorer and rename it to X.UDL 2) Double click on it and the datalink provider dialog will appear. 3) Select the provider tab. Find the provider for your data access method and click next. 4) Select your source  5) Test the connection and save it. 6) Open X.UDL with a text editor to see your connections string. You can also look at http://www.connectionstrings.com/ for examples of connection strings.

  If you’re a fan of Katamari Damacy, a quirky and fun Japanese puzzle game made popular on the PlayStation, you’ll love this Javas script hack that turns your browser pane and its contents into a giant HTML-collecting game of Katamari Damacy. Katamari Damacy, for the unfamiliar, is a addictive game based on the premise that a galactic prince is on a mission to rebuild stars, constellations, and moons accidentally destroyed by his father. You roll around and collect objects (making yourself an increasingly larger ball in the process). This script hack puts a ball on your web browser pane (works best in Chrome) that you can roll around collecting elements from the web page. At first you can only grab links but as you grow you can grab increasingly large objects like photo elements off the page. It doesn’t have the sophisticated graphics of the Playstation version, of course, nor the detailed back story, but it’s a clever little hack that is sure to delight fans of Katamari Damacy. • Loopj Android Async Http - onFailure not fired

  I am using the great async http library from loopj, but I have run into a small snag. If the user has no internet connection or loses their connection, the app just won't return anything. This part is expected, but it also doesn't fire the onFailure method. Also, the code I have used when there is an internet connection does work so there is no problem on the server end. Here is some code that is stripped down to the minimum. • TortoiseSVN and Subclipse icons not updating with SVN? [migrated]

  I have a repository on a network share with working directories on two separate machines. Upon making changes to my local working directory and committing them, the icons are not changing on the other developer's machine. If the Dev goes to Team Synchronize with Repository it shows the changes in the Synchronize view within Eclipse, however I was expecting the icon next to the project to change if it is not in sync with the repository. The same happens with TortoiseSVN in Windows Explorer. If we right click and check the repository for modifications it shows them, however the overlay icon on the directory is still the green check box. Am I just misinterpreting what I expect to happen, or is there a way to get these icons to change if the project is no longer in sync with the repository?

• Google Analytics Export API - nextPagePath data

  I am probably missing something obvious, but I do not understand when I query: start.date = DATE_START, end.date = DATE_END, dimensions = c("ga:pagePath","ga:previousPagePath"), metrics = c("ga:pageviews"), filters = mypageofinterest, table.id = "ga:mytable", max.results=RESULTS my data return as expected, all of the previous pages including (entrance). However, when I modify the code to be nextPagePath start.date = DATE_START, end.date = DATE_END, dimensions = c("ga:pagePath","ga:nextPagePath"), metrics = c("ga:pageviews"), filters = mypageofinterest, table.id = "ga:mytable", max.results=RESULTS only one line of data are returned; the pagepath and nextpagepath are identical with itself. I replicated this result using the Query Explorer. What am I missing or doing wrong? I was expecting to see a large number of "next" pages, including (exit). Thanks in advance.

  scenerio:- a database server running sql server 2005 and sql server management studio 2005 express editions a web server running IIS 5.0v using windows xp pro. two other computer having windows xp and windows 98 i have a linksys router which i use to access point for wireless (laptop) there are 5 sockets behind it four for clients and one for internet. i would like to setup a LAN- something like a private hosting area with two clients. would should i do? where to connect what and what would the changes in settnigs be. right now it uses dhcp or something to assign ips. where will the webserver be attached to the internet socket? where will the db server be attached? any guide, links, help thank you

  I am making a game (called "Glory") that is a top-down explorer game, and am wondering what the advantages/disadvantages of using random/procedural generation vs. pre-made levels are. There seems to be few that i can think of, other than the fact that items may be a problem to distribute in randomly generated terrain, and that the generated terrain may look weird. The downside to previously made levels is that I would need to make a level editor, though. I cannot decide what is better to use.

Sidestep automatically detects when you are on an unprotected wireless network and forms an encrypted tunnel to the proxy you specified during setup. Anytime you login a wide open Wi-Fi node (such as at a coffee shop, airport, or other public area) you won’t be broadcasting your login credentials and other personal information in what amounts to plain text into the air around you. • Need to know who is hogging my bandwidth?

  I have an ethernet connection to my iMac and with Internet sharing I am broadcasting the wireless network from my mac rather than using a wireless router. I use it to connect other devices wirelessly to the internet. But this makes all the traffic flow through my iMac. I wanted a way to analyze the traffic so that I know what connected devices are hogging the bandwidth at a given time and from which websites? I installed wireshark for mac and played around a little but it seems like an overkill when you first look at it. Can someone please help with few instructions to get what I need or any other way other than using wireshark? Thanks Dev.

Consider the following code: var req = WebRequest.Create("http://google.com/"); req.CachePolicy = new HttpRequestCachePolicy(HttpRequestCacheLevel.CacheIfAvailable); var resp = req.GetResponse(); Console.WriteLine(resp.IsFromCache); var answ = (new StreamReader(resp.GetResponseStream())).ReadToEnd(); Console.WriteLine(answ.Length); HttpWebRequest uses IE cache, so when I run it as normal user, data is cached to %userprofile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files and next responses are read from cache. I thought that when such code is run inside ASP.NET app, data will be cached to ...\ASPNET\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files but it is not and cache is never used. What I am doing wrong? How to force HttpWebRequest to use cache in ASP.NET environment?

• Can a plug-in access a database server?

  At my work place, we use an external client's web application monitor and respond to support tickets of our clients. the problem with that application is that it does not house a field to enter the actual effort (hours worked on a particular ticket) to be stored in the database. What is needed to write a plug-in for Internet Explorer that would get triggered on a button click on a certain webpage and save some data in an external database? That is, if the support personnel is closing the ticket after resolving it, is it possible to invoke that plugin that asks the personnel to enter the effort spent on that ticket and store it in an external database? We can't modify the web application as it is vendor supplied and not an in-house product.
