  • Reading a memorystream

    - by user1842828
    Using several examples here on StackOverflow I thought the following code would decompress a gzip file then read the memory-stream and write it's content to the console. No errors occur but I get no output. public static void Decompress(FileInfo fileToDecompress) { using (FileStream originalFileStream = fileToDecompress.OpenRead()) { string currentFileName = fileToDecompress.FullName; string newFileName = currentFileName.Remove(currentFileName.Length - fileToDecompress.Extension.Length); using (FileStream decompressedFileStream = File.Create(newFileName)) { using (GZipStream decompressionStream = new GZipStream(originalFileStream, CompressionMode.Decompress)) { MemoryStream memStream = new MemoryStream(); memStream.SetLength(decompressedFileStream.Length); decompressedFileStream.Read(memStream.GetBuffer(), 0, (int)decompressedFileStream.Length); memStream.Position = 0; var sr = new StreamReader(memStream); var myStr = sr.ReadToEnd(); Console.WriteLine("Stream Output: " + myStr); } } } }

  • How to tell a UITableView to preload all Rows?

    - by Infinite
    Is there a way to tell a UITableView to preload all rows? The tableView is supposed to show several comments (up to 80 comments). So my CommentCell uses a Setter to adapt the cell to a specific comment. -(void)setComment:(Comment *)newComment { if (newComment != comment) { [comment release]; comment = [newComment retain]; /* * set the cells view variables here */ } } This specific setter takes quite a bunch of processing resources and scrolling gets kinda laggy. I am using a comment-specific reuseIdentifier instead of a static cellIdentifier when calling dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: in order to assure, that "newComment" equals the old "comment". And in fact this does work great when scrolling over cells which have already been loaded. But when scrolling through the comments for the first time, it still lags like hell. Which leads me to my question: Is there a way to tell the tableview to preload all cells? (which I doubt) or Do I have to implement my own cache instead of relying on "dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:"?

  • Need some explanation about MS Ajax using PageMethods

    - by Ahmed Said
    I have a project that uses PageMethods to call functions on the server. The server functions (written in C#) return the values as array of strings, without doing any kind of serialization and in the client side (from Js) the accessing of the return values is by using static variable called arguments. I found that sometimes for some users (cases are not repro) sometimes an exception occured "WebServiceFailedException the server method 'Foo' returned invalid data. the 'd' property is missing from JSON." Some searching on google I found that people are serializing the return values using DataContractJsonSerializer class and in js accessing the return value using one of the callback function Example: function OnRequestComplete(result, userContext, methodName) { var Person = eval('(' + result + ')'); alert(Person.Forename); alert(Person.Surname); } So is the first technique is correct? or what?

  • has anyone tried designing a webpage for psp?

    - by lock
    erm im trying to make a personal bible for my psp (i tried googling but the only bible version i've seen on my skimming is on KJV and im trying to make mine have 3 versions namely TNIV, NLT and Amplified Bible) so my only solution was to make on for myself and my approach was to save an html file on my mem-stick and open it up through the console's browser my concerns are: 1. how does the psp browser handle css and javascript? 2. is there a doctype declaration specifically designed for the psp browser? 3. can i use any local database to store my texts for easier query or do i have no choice but rely on static text files? 4. is there anyone in SO who have experienced developing a page for this console and can he/she give me some tips and advice? thanks much in advance for your responses.. :)

  • Why does a Linq Cast<T> operation fail when I have an implicit cast defined?

    - by Ryan Versaw
    I've created two classes, with one of them having an implicit cast between them: public class Class1 { public int Test1; } public class Class2 { public int Test2; public static implicit operator Class1(Class2 item) { return new Class1{Test1 = item.Test2}; } } When I create a new list of one type and try to Cast<T> to the other, it fails with an InvalidCastException: List<Class2> items = new List<Class2>{new Class2{Test2 = 9}}; foreach (Class1 item in items.Cast<Class1>()) { Console.WriteLine(item.Test1); } This, however, works fine: foreach (Class1 item in items) { Console.WriteLine(item.Test1); } Why is the implicit cast not called when using Cast<T>?

  • Template deduction based on return type?

    - by Marlon
    I'd like to be able to use template deduction to achieve the following: GCPtr<A> ptr1 = GC::Allocate(); GCPtr<B> ptr2 = GC::Allocate(); instead of (what I currently have): GCPtr<A> ptr1 = GC::Allocate<A>(); GCPtr<B> ptr2 = GC::Allocate<B>(); My current Allocate function looks like this: class GC { public: template <typename T> static GCPtr<T> Allocate(); }; Would this be possible to knock off the extra < A and < B? Thanks

  • Combining XmlSerializer and XmlWriter?

    - by num3ric
    In addition to a list of objects I am serializing to an xml file using C#'s XmlSerializer, I would like to store a few more independent elements (mainly strings from textboxes) in the same xml. public static void SaveBehaviors(ObservableCollection<Param> listParams) { XmlSerializer _paramsSerializer = new XmlSerializer(listParams.GetType()); string path = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.Desktop); path += "\\test.xml"; using (TextWriter writeFileStream = new StreamWriter(path)) { _paramsSerializer.Serialize(writeFileStream, listParams); using (XmlWriter writer = XmlWriter.Create(writeFileStream)) { writer.WriteStartElement("Foo"); //test entry... writer.WriteAttributeString("Bar", "Some & value"); writer.WriteElementString("Nested", "data"); writer.WriteEndElement(); } } } However, deserializing "test.xml" results in an error because of the added element. I suppose writing in the serialized xml file is prohibited and should be avoided?

  • C++ function-pointer and inheritance

    - by pingvinus
    In parent class I have function, that operates under an array of functions, declared in child-class, number of functions for every child-class may vary. But since every function uses some object-variables, I can't declare them as static. I've try to do something like this: class A { public: typedef int (A::*func)(); func * fs; void f() { /*call functions from this->fs*/ } }; class B : public A { public: int smth; B(int smth) { this->smth = smth; this->fs = new func[1]; fs[0] = &B::f; } int f() { return smth + 1; } }; But, obviously it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

  • How do you resolve the common collsision between type name and object name?

    - by Catskul
    Since the convention is to capitalize the first letter of public properties, the old c++ convention of initial capital for type names, and initial lowercase for non-type names does not prevent the classic name collision class FooManager { public BarManager BarManager { get; set; } // Feels very wrong. // Recommended naming convention? public int DoIt() { return Foo.Blarb + Foo.StaticBlarb; // 1st and 2nd Foo are two // different symbols } } class BarManager { public int Blarb { get; set; } public static int StaticBlarb { get; set; } } It seems to compile, but feels so wrong. Is there a recommend naming convention to avoid this?

  • How to ignore an exception and continue processing a foreach loop?

    - by Barry Dysert
    I have a test program that is supposed to loop over all the files under C:. It dies when it hits the "Documents and Settings" folder. I'd like to ignore the error and keep looping over the remaining files. The problem is that the exception is thrown in the foreach, so putting a try/catch around the foreach will cause the loop to exit. And putting a try/catch after the foreach never fires (because the exception is thrown in the foreach). Is there any way to ignore the exception and continue processing the loop? Here's the code: static void Main(string[] args) { IEnumerable<string> files = Directory.EnumerateFiles(@"C:\", "*.*", SearchOption.AllDirectories); foreach (string file in files) // Exception occurs when evaluating "file" Console.WriteLine(file); }

  • Reduce the number of queries in EF

    - by Gio2k
    I have the following Model: Entities: Product (Contains basic data for products: price, etc) Attribute (Contains data for all possible optional attributes) ProductAttribute (Contains data for optional attributes of a product, eg. Color, Model, Size). ProductAttribute is essentially a many to many relationship with payload (ProductId, AttributeID, Value) And this piece of code: private static void ListAttributes(Product p) { p.ProductAttributes.Load(); foreach (var att in p.ProductAttributes) { att.Attribute.load(); Console.WriteLine("\tAttribute Name:{0} - Value {1}", att.Attribute.Name, att.AttributeValue); } } This piece of code will fire a query for each time the att.Attribute.Load() method is called in the foreach loop, only so i can get display the name of the attribute. I would like to fetch the Attribute.Name together with the query that fetches all attribute values, i.e. join ProductAttribute and Attribute. Is there any way to achieve this within my method?

  • Bugs in scroll-follow with Google map (Firefox and Safari)

    - by earlyriser
    A scroll follow effect is when a part of the web design is always visible, even when the window is scrolled. There are animated and static versions of this. The animated is ok http://robertomartinez.info/cobra/index.html But I prefer the fixed version, however I have some bugs: http://robertomartinez.info/cobra/index_fixed.html -In Firefox, when you scroll the page, you will see a kind of vertical cut in the lorem ipsum text (below the HERE indication). This is caused by the image tiles of the map, then if you drag and drop the map, the cut will appear in another side. -In Safari, when you scroll the page, the div follows, but the map images stay in the same position. Do you have solutions for theses issues? Thanks.

  • IQueryable Where fails to work

    - by Steve
    I am using N-Hibernate and have a class/table called Boxers I also have a prospect table which tells use if the boxer is a prospect. (this table is one column of just the boxersID) So i Want to get all boxers that are prospects (meaning all boxers that have there id in the prospects table) Public static IQueryable<Boxer> IsProspect(this IQueryable<Boxer> query) { return query.Where(x => x.Prospect != null); } this doesnt trim down my list of boxers to the boxers that are prospect... yet if i debug and look at any boxer it will have True or false next to each one correctly... Why isnt the where clause correctly trimming down the list?

  • What is the best way to find the digit at n position in a decimal number?

    - by Elijah
    Background I'm working on a symmetric rounding class and I find that I'm stuck with regards to how to best find the number at position x that I will be rounding. I'm sure there is an efficient mathematical way to find the single digit and return it without having to resort to string parsing. Problem Suppose, I have the following (C#) psuedo-code: var position = 3; var value = 102.43587m; // I want this no ? (that is 5) protected static int FindNDigit(decimal value, int position) { // This snippet is what I am searching for } Also, it is worth noting that if my value is a whole number, I will need to return a zero for the result of FindNDigit. Does anyone have any hints on how I should approach this problem? Is this something that is blaringly obvious that I'm missing?

  • Dynamic, reflective SignalHandler in Java

    - by pilcrow
    How do I install signal handling logic iff sun.misc.Signal is available? Background First generation of my code looked something like this: class MyApp { public static void main(String[] args) { ... Signal.handle(term_sig, new SignalHandler() { public void handle(Signal sig) { ... } }); ... } } I believe I understand how to reflectively test for and use signal handlers -- Class.forName("sun.misc.Signal"), reflectively call Signal.handle, and so forth. My impulse was simply to instantiate another anonymous inner class with the dynamically obtained SignalHandler class, but I think that's just wishful syntax.

  • Method params match signature, but still getting error

    - by Jason
    I am in the midst of converting a VB library to C#. One of my methods has the following signature in VB: Private Shared Sub FillOrder(ByVal row As DataRowView, ByRef o As Order) In C# I converted it to: private static void FillOrder(DataRowView row, ref Order o) From my constructor inside my Order class, I am calling the FillOrder() method like so: DataView dv = //[get the data] if (dv.Count > 0) { FillOrder(dv[0], this); } In VB, this works: Dim dv As DataView = '[get data]' If dv.Count > 0 Then FillOrder(dv.Item(0), Me) End If However, in VS10 in the C# file I am getting a red squiggle under this call with the following error: The best overloaded method match for [the method] has some invalid arguments This was working code in VB. What am I doing wrong?

  • Why does Custom UITableViewCell *sometimes* cause an NSInvalidArgumentException?

    - by Wayne Hartman
    I have created a custom UITableViewCell, but when I dequeue the cell, sometimes it throws an NSInvalidArgumentException: [UITableViewCell nameLabel]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3b4e7f0 Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[UITableViewCell nameLabel]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3b4e7f0' Now, my custom UITableViewCell does have an attribute nameLabel, so I am confused why it is throwing this error. Below is the code I use to dequeue the cell: - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSUInteger row = [indexPath row]; CTMenuItemVO* key = [[[self retrieveCartItems] allKeys] objectAtIndex:row]; NSNumber* quantity = [[self retrieveCartItems] objectForKey:key]; static NSString* SectionsTableIdentifier = @"SectionsTableIdentifier2"; OrderItemCell* cell = (OrderItemCell*)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier: SectionsTableIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray* topLevelObjects = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"OrderItemCell" owner:nil options:nil]; for(id currentObject in topLevelObjects) { if ([currentObject isKindOfClass:[UITableViewCell class]]) { cell = (OrderItemCell*) currentObject; break; } } } cell.nameLabel.text = key.Name; cell.qtyLabel.text = [quantity stringValue]; return cell; }

  • Java Swing architecture for flipping through JPane based views

    - by imhotep
    Hi all, I have done a couple of simple swing based apps with static layout, but now I've run into a problem while trying to create an app containing multiple views which are changed by pressing appropriate navigational button. You could compare the idea to a website so that every view has buttons to access certain other views but this would work inside a single JFrame. I've found that maybe CardLayout (Cardlayout example) might be appropriate solution for this kind of structure, but I'm unable to figure out a way to switch the views from the buttons which are inside of the JPanes that I've implemented in their separate classes, Of course one way would be to instantiate everything in the parent class like in the small java tutorial example, but this isn't quite clean nor modular for multiple views, isn't it. How can this be implemented so that I can access the view switching method?

  • Accessing a function of an instance which is in an arraylist

    I'm tring to access a function of an instance which is in an arraylist. Is there any way to do that without using the class name of the instance? import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.List; class apple{ int price; public void myFunction(int iPrice) { price=iPrice; } } class orange{ int price; public void myFunction(int iPrice) { price=iPrice; } } public class main { public static void main(String[] args) { List list= new ArrayList(); //create 3 apple object to list list.add( new apple() ); list.add( new apple() ); list.add( new orange() ); list.get(0).myFunction(1); /* Error: The method myFunction(int) is undefined for the type Object*/ } } I know that;((apple) list.get(0)).myFunction(1); is a way but I'dont want to use any class name while calling the function.

  • Pre-cache site as user visits

    - by strager
    I am making a static site which is 'forced' to be cached via Cache-control, etc. When a user visits my site, I want the browser to crawl my site, caching pages, so when the user navigates to a page, the load is almost instant. (I do not need a recursive crawl, as that will probably happen as the user navigates between pages. I just need to crawl the links on the current page, and of course not re-caching a page which has already been cached.) (Also, I am not changing pages using Ajax-like techniques. These are essentially normal flat HTML files with normal links.) How can I do this pre-caching using Javascript? (I am using jQuery.)
