• Building a python module and linking it against a MacOSX framework

  I'm trying to build a Python extension on MacOSX 10.6 and to link it against several frameworks (i386 only). I made a setup.py file, using distutils and the Extension object. I order to link against my frameworks, my LDFLAGS env var should look like : LDFLAGS = -lc -arch i386 -framework fwk1 -framework fwk2 As I did not find any 'framework' keyword in the Extension module documentation, I used the extra_link_args keyword instead. Extension('test', define_macros = [('MAJOR_VERSION', '1'), ,('MINOR_VERSION', '0')], include_dirs = ['/usr/local/include', 'include/', 'include/vitale'], extra_link_args = ['-arch i386', '-framework fwk1', '-framework fwk2'], sources = "testmodule.cpp", language = 'c++' ) Everything is compiling and linking fine. If I remove the -framework line from the extra_link_args, my linker fails, as expected. Here is the last two lines produced by a python setup.py build : /usr/bin/g++-4.2 -arch x86_64 -arch i386 -isysroot / -L/opt/local/lib -arch x86_64 -arch i386 -bundle -undefined dynamic_lookup build/temp.macosx-10.6-intel-2.6/testmodule.o -o build/lib.macosx-10.6-intel-2.6/test.so -arch i386 -framework sgdosx -framework srtosx -framework ssvosx -framework stsosx Unfortunately, the .so that I just produced is unable to find several symbols provided by this framework. I tried to check the linked framework with otool. None of them is appearing. $ otool -L test.so test.so: /usr/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib (compatibility version 7.0.0, current version 7.9.0) /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.0.1) There is the output of otool run on a test binary, made with g++ and ldd using the LDFLAGS described at the top of my post. On this example, the -framework did work. $ otool -L vitaosx vitaosx: /Library/Frameworks/sgdosx.framework/Versions/A/sgdosx (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0) /Library/Frameworks/ssvosx.framework/Versions/A/ssvosx (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0) /usr/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib (compatibility version 7.0.0, current version 7.9.0) /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.0.1) May this issue be linked to the "-undefined dynamic_lookup" flag on the linking step ? • Groovlet + Tomcat: "unable to resolve class" when importing libraries

  I'm having some trouble running a groovy servlet (groovlet) in tomcat that imports a library class. When I don't import anything the groovlet works correctly, but if I do import something that I expect to be on the classpath (I can import the same class successfully in a regular servlet), I see the following error: groovy.util.ScriptException: Could not parse scriptName: /MyGroovlet.groovy java.lang.RuntimeException: groovy.util.ScriptException: Could not parse scriptName: /MyGroovlet.groovy at groovy.servlet.GroovyServlet$1.call(GroovyServlet.java:123) ... Caused by: org.codehaus.groovy.control.MultipleCompilationErrorsException: startup failed, /MyGroovlet.groovy: 1: unable to resolve class com.mycompany.mypackage.MyLibraryClass @ line 1, column 1. The jar containing MyLibraryClass is in shared/lib, which is loaded by tomcat by the following in catalina.properties: shared.loader=...,${catalina.base}/shared/lib/*.jar,... My groovlets are mapped as described in the user guide in my application's web.xml: <servlet> <servlet-name>GroovyServlet</servlet-name> <servlet-class>groovy.servlet.GroovyServlet</servlet-class> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>GroovyServlet</servlet-name> <url-pattern>*.groovy</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping> And here's the code for the groovlet, MyGroovlet.groovy: import com.mycompany.mypackage.MyLibraryClass MyLibraryClass.someStaticMethod() My groovlet is deployed to WEB-INF/groovy/MyGroovlet.groovy, per the GroovyServlet API. When I visit http://localhost:8080/myapplication/MyGroovlet.groovy, the error described previously is written to my application logs. Is there some way that I need to explicitly declare the runtime classpath for GroovyServlet? I've tried moving the library jar to several places, including WEB-INF/lib and moving the actual MyLibraryClass.class file to WEB-INF/classes, but with no luck.

• add jsf project facet in eclipse/ why need it?

  Hi, I started on JSF2.0. I followed a tutorial with no problem and all worked fine! I used Eclipse Helios. But I noticed something I can not understand. The tutorial said to add Project Facet for JSF 2. I did no such thing and all worked ok. So to follow tutorial exactly I did: Right-click on Project -Properties- Project Facets And JavaServer Faces check-box was not ticked. I assume this is what the tutorial means by Project Facet. I clicked on it and a Further Configuration Needed link appeared. I followed the link to a JSF capabilities (Modify Faceted Project) dialog, I selected as User library, my library of JSF(which is MyFaces) but I got the error message: Found multiple versions of the required class javax.faces.FactoryFinder. What is this error? Can't I add project facet after creating my project? And what do I need the project facet for? My (trivial) code indicates that JSF works ok, so what is the project Facet useful for? Thanks!

• WPF Image change source when button is disabled

  Hi, I'm trying to show a different image when the button is disabled. Should be easy with triggers, right?! For some reason, I have not been able to get the images to switch. I've tried setting triggers on both the image and button. What is wrong with what I have below? How can I change the image source when the button is enabled/disabled? • Temporary debug releases and final application releases

  I have a quick question regarding debug and release in VS 2008. I have an app i've been working on - its not yet complete but the bulk of the functionality is there. So basically i'm trying to give a copy of it now to the person helping with documentation - just so they can have a play and get the feel for what i've made. Now the question is how to provide it to them. I was told to just copy the .exe out of the debug/bin folder and put that onto USB. But when testing, if I run this .exe anywhere else (outside of this folder) it crashes. I've now worked out why this is: var path = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["PathToUse"]; var files = Directory.GetFiles(path); throws a null reference, so that App.config file is not being used. If I copy that file in with the .exe it works again. So actually my question is regarding the best way to manage this situation. What is the best way to provide a working copy to people, and, is there a reference on preparing apps for release - so everything is packaged together and installed in a clean structured folder heirarchy?

  Hi, I've got problems starting my WAR application on a local JBoss. • How to add an image to an SSRS report with a dynamic url?

  I'm trying to add an image to a report. The image src url is an IHttpHandler that takes a few query string parameters. Here's an example: <img src="Image.ashx?item=1234567890&lot=asdf&width=50" alt=""/> I added an Image to a cell and then set Source to External and Value to the following expression: ="Image.ashx?item="+Fields!ItemID.Value+"&lot="+Fields!LotID.Value+"&width=50" But when I view the report, it renders the image html as: <IMG SRC="" /> What am I missing? Update Even if I set Value to "image.jpg" it still renders an empty src attribute. I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I'm using this with a VS 2008 ReportViewer control in Remote processing mode. Update I was able to get the images to display in the Report Designer (VS 2005) with an absolute path (http://server/path/to/http/handler). But they didn't display on the Report Manager website. I even set up an Unattended Execution Account that has access to the external URLs.

• Using perl to split a line that may contain whitespace

  Okay, so I'm using perl to read in a file that contains some general configuration data. This data is organized into headers based on what they mean. An example follows: [vars] # This is how we define a variable! $var = 10; $str = "Hello thar!"; # This section contains flags which can be used to modify module behavior # All modules read this file and if they understand any of the flags, use them [flags] Verbose = true; # Notice the errant whitespace! [path] WinPath = default; # Keyword which loads the standard PATH as defined by the operating system. Append with additonal values. LinuxPath = default; Goal: Using the first line as an example "$var = 10;", I'd like to use the split function in perl to create an array that contains the characters "$var" and "10" as elements. Using another line as an example: Verbose = true; # Should become [Verbose, true] aka no whitespace is present This is needed because I will be outputting these values to a new file (which a different piece of C++ code will read) to instantiate dictionary objects. Just to give you a little taste of what it might look like (just making it up as I go along): define new dictionary name: [flags] # Start defining keys => values new key name: Verbose new value val: 10 # End dictionary Oh, and here is the code I currently have along with what it is doing (incorrectly): sub makeref($) { my @line = (split (/=/)); # Produces ["Verbose", " true"]; }

• Strange \n in base64 encoded string in Ruby

  The inbuilt Base64 library in Ruby is adding some '\n's. I'm unable to find out the reason. For this special example: irb(main):001:0> require 'rubygems' => true irb(main):002:0> require 'base64' => true irb(main):003:0> str = "1110--ad6ca0b06e1fbeb7e6518a0418a73a6e04a67054" => "1110--ad6ca0b06e1fbeb7e6518a0418a73a6e04a67054" irb(main):004:0> Base64.encode64(str) => "MTExMC0tYWQ2Y2EwYjA2ZTFmYmViN2U2NTE4YTA0MThhNzNhNmUwNGE2NzA1\nNA==\n" The \n's are at the last and 6th position from end. The decoder (Base64.decode64) returns back the old string perfectly. Strange thing is, these \n's don't add any value to the encoded string. When I remove the newlines from the output string, the decoder decodes it again perfectly. irb(main):005:0> Base64.decode64(Base64.encode64(str).gsub("\n", '')) == str => true More of this, I used an another JS library to produce the base64 encoded output of the same input string, the output comes without the \n's. Is this a bug or anything else? Has anybody faced this issue before? FYI, $ ruby -v ruby 1.8.7 (2008-08-11 patchlevel 72) [i486-linux]

• Weird Issues with WPMU I Can't Figure Out

  I know I should post this on the WPMU forum, but no one writes me back and I'm just trying to find a larger audience hoping you have run into this issue as well. I have built a WPMU site for a client, and I am able to upload media into the Media Library and within a Post or Page perfectly. I thought my job was finished, yet the client can't upload any media at all. I'm located in Kentucky, they are located in New England (if that even matters). I had the client record their process of uploading as I thought they were simply not following my instructions for uploading, yet they are doing everything correctly. When uploading a file it goes through the process of allowing them to select a file and it says it uploads it, yet when it is finished uploading nothing is in the Media Library or in the Post.   My project (an interpreted language) has a standard library composed by multiple files, each of them will be built into an .so dynamic library that the interpreter will load upon user request (with an import directive). • Can't get SFTP to work in PHP

  I am writing a simple SFTP client in PHP because we have the need to programatically retrieve files via n remote servers. I am using the PECL SSH2 extension. I have run up against a road block, though. The documentation on php.net suggests that you can do this: $stream = fopen("ssh2.sftp://$sftp/path/to/file", 'r'); However, I have an ls method that attempts to something similar public function ls($dir) { $rd = "ssh2.sftp://{$this->sftp}/$dir"; $handle = opendir($rd); if (!is_resource($handle)) { throw new SFTPException("Could not open directory."); } while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if (substr($file, 0, 1) != '.'){ print $file . "\n"; } } closedir($handle); } I get the following error: PHP Warning: opendir(): Unable to open ssh2.sftp://Resource id #5/outgoing on remote host This makes perfect sense because that's what happens when you cast a resource to string. Is the documentation wrong? I tried replacing the resource with host, username, and host and that didn't work either. I know the path is correct because I can run SFTP from the command line and it works fine. Has anyone else tried to use the SSH2 extenstion with SFTP? Am I missing something obvious here? UPDATE: I setup sftp on another machine in-house and it works just fine. So, there must be something about the server I am trying to connect to that isn't working.

• Save all xml nodes to db without looping through it

  I have this xml: <Path> <Record> <ID>6534808</ID> <Distance>1.05553036073736</Distance> </Record> <Record> <ID>6542471</ID> <Distance>1.05553036073736</Distance> </Record> ... and about more 500 nodes </Path> And I'm using the code below to get all "Record" nodes: XmlNodeList paths = xDoc.SelectNodes("//Record"); And, after that, I save each record to database. But, the problem is that I'm using a foreach to loop through this nodes and the count of this nodes may be more than 500, sometimes it gets up to 1000 "Records" node. And this gets too long... Is there a way to save all of these nodes without looping through it? Thanks!!

• Troubles with PyDev and external libraries in OS X

  I've successfully installed the latest version of PyDev in my Eclipse (3.5.1) under OS X 10.6.3, with python 2.6.1 I have troubles in making the libraries I have installed work. For example, I'm trying to use the cx_Oracle library, which is perfectly working if called from the python interpeter of from simple scripts made with some text editor. • Multicore solr on Ubuntu 10.04 working for anyone?

  Following instructions from the two sites below, I've installed tomcat6 and solr 1.4 http://gist.github.com/204638 https://wiki.fourkitchens.com/display/TECH/Solr+1.4+on+Ubuntu+9.10+and+CentOS+5 I have successfully got it up and running on a server running 9.04 with multicore support, but on the 10.04 I can't seem to get it to work.   I'm trying to parse UTF-8 XML file and save some parts of it to another file. Problem is, that this is my first Python script ever and I'm totally confused about the character encoding problems I'm finding. Any ideas? I am posting an xml query from Fiddler and i receive the result without any problem. BUT i have done an integration test for the same interface, i send the same objects and i put the response like: final MultipartOutput multiPartOutput = getClient().query(getUserRestAuth(), 0, 25, null, null, null, instanceQuery); But here, so from integration tests, i receive a strange error: Unable to find a MessageBodyReader of content-type multipart/mixed;boundary="74c5b6b4-e820-452d-abea-4c56ffb514bb" and type class org.jboss.resteasy.plugins.providers.multipart.MultipartOutput Anyone has any ideea why only in integration tests i receive this error? PS: Some of you will say that i do not send application/xml as ContentType but multipart, which of course is false because the objects are annotated with the required @XmlRootElement etc, otherways neither the POST from Fiddler would work.
