    I'm still a newbie with wcf and not too well informed in .net in general. I have a WCF 4 web service that uses the global.asax routing approach and very simplified web.config using the standard endpoint method. This wcf service runs as an application with the default web site on iis 7.5 at present. I need it support both http and https interfaces, if possible. If that's too complex then only https. How is that best handled maintaining the current approach?   • WCF ChannelFactory caching

    I've just read this great article on WCF ChannelFactory caching by Wenlong Dong. My question is simply how can you actually prove that the ChannelFactory is in fact being cached between calls? I've followed the rules regarding the ClientBase’s constructors. We are using the following overloaded constructor on our object that inherits from ClientBase: ClientBase(string endpointConfigurationName, EndpointAddress remoteAddress); In the article mentioned above it is stated that: For these constructors, all arguments (including default ones) are in the following list: · InstanceContext callbackInstance · string endpointConfigurationName · EndpointAddress remoteAddress As long as these three arguments are the same when ClientBase is constructed, we can safely assume that the same ChannelFactory can be used. Fortunately, String and EndpointAddress types are immutable, i.e., we can make simple comparison to determine whether two arguments are the same. For InstanceContext, we can use Object reference comparison. The type EndpointTrait is thus used as the key of the MRU cache. To test the ChannelFactory cache theory we are checking the Hashcode in the ClientBase constructor e.g. var testHash = RuntimeHelpers.GetHashCode(base.ChannelFactory); The hash value is different between calls which makes us think that the ChannelFactory isn't actually cached.     Hi everyone, I am working on an app which uses tags. Accessing those should be as simple as possible. Working with an AutoCompleteTextView seems appropriate to me. What I want: existing tags should be displayed in a selectable list with a CheckBox on each item's side existing tags should be displayed UPON FOCUS of AutoCompleteTextView (i.e. not after typing a letter) What I've done so far is storing tags in a dedicated sqlite3 table. Tags are queried resulting in a Cursor. The Cursor is passed to a SimpleCursorAdapter which looks like this: Cursor cursor = dbHelper.getAllTags(); startManagingCursor(cursor); String[] columns = new String[] { TagsDB._TAG}; int[] to = new int[] { R.id.tv_tags}; SimpleCursorAdapter cursAdapt = new SimpleCursorAdapter(this, R.layout.tags_row, cursor, columns, to); actv.setAdapter(cursAdapt); As you can see I created *tags_row.xml* which looks like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:paddingLeft="4dip" android:paddingRight="4dip" android:orientation="horizontal"> <TextView android:id="@+id/tv_tags" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_weight="1" android:textColor="#000" android:onClick="actv_item_click" /> <CheckBox android:id="@+id/cb_tags" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:onClick="actv_item_checked" /> </LinearLayout> It looks like this: So the results are displayed just as I'd want them to. But the TextView's onClick listener does not respond. And I don't have a clue on how to access the data once an item is (de-)selected. Behaviour of the list should be the following: tapping a CheckBox item should insert/append the corresponding tag into the AutoCompleteTextView (tags will be semicolon-seperated) tapping a TextView item should insert/apped the corresponding tag into the AutoCompleteTextView AND close the list. Situation I have: -a table with User(ID, Name, FirstName, Email) This table is made, so that a users who is registered in two tenants doesn't need to login again. -a table with Tentantuser(ID, TenantID, UserID (FK to table User), UserName, Loginname, Password, Active) This table contains de login en password for one tenant. Example: UserX is registered in TenantA and TenantB UserX logs in on TenantA, with his login and password for TenantA System verifies or login and password are correct in the table TenantUser System validates UserX which userID corresponds to the Id in the table User UserX goes to TenantB and is automatically logged in My problem: How can I create a custom Provider so I can check the login & password in a tenant? For example: public abstract bool ValidateUser(string username,string password); How can I say to my provider on which tenant the user is? How can I change this in something like: public overrides bool ValidateUser(string username,string password, string tenant); ? Or what is another way to solve this issue?

    Hi, I am facing a problem where-in I cannot select videos from the photo album in iPhone 2G/3G device. The default photos application does show videos and is capable of playing them, which in turn means that UIImagePickerController should clearly be capable of showing videos in photo album and selecting them. I havent tested for 3GS, but I am sure that this problem does not exist in it with reference to other threads. I have built the app for both 3.0 (base SDK) and 3.1 but with the same results. This issue is already discussed in the thread: http://www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/iphone-sdk-development/36197-uiimagepickercontroller-does-not-show-movies-albums.html But it does not seem to host a solution.     I've been working towards a solution for some time and could use a little help. I know I've seen an example of this before, but tonight I cannot find anything close to what I need. I have a service that provides me all my DropDownLists, either from Cache or from the DomainService. They are presented as IEnumerable, and are requested from the a repository with GetLookup(LookupId). I have created a custom attribute that I have decorated my MetaDataClass that looks something like this: [Lookup(Lookup.Products)] public Guid ProductId I have created a custom Data Form that is set to AutoGenerateFields and I am intercepting the autogenerate fields. I am checking for my CustomAttribute and that works. I checked in reverse assembly that DoStartup method of App gets called after OnStartup, so technically my StartupUri must load, but it doesnt, in App.xaml startup uri is not at all defined. Note: Bug Confirmed I noticed that ShowDialog sets Application.MainWindow and when dialog ends, it sets it back to null, and because of this setting StartupUri does not work after calling Modal Dialog in OnStartup or Startup event. There is no error or exception about invalid uri or anything like that. This method works without DialogBox being called in Startup event or OnStartup, i think calling showdialog on this method causes something like its mainwindow being set to expired window and it shuts down after this.

  • WPF: Adorner Hit Testing / MouseDown Event

    Hello, I have an Adorner which adornes a Border (please see screenshot below). The MouseDown Event for the Adorner is however only raised, when clicking on an element in the adorner. I need the MouseDown Event to be raised, when clicking on any place in the adorner above the adorned element. How can this be done? Do I have to add an transparent control in the adorner or is there another way for this? Thanks for any help!     I'm trying to crash my WPF application, and capture the exception using the above new .Net 4 attribute. I managed to manually crash my application by calling Environment.FailFast("crash");. (Also managed to crash it using Hans's code from here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2950130/how-to-simulate-a-corrupt-state-exception-in-net-4). The app calls the above crashing code when pressing on a button. The windows installer that is available through their website works fine. Since i wanted to modify it, I got the source code and built the jar and tried to launch it.     A couple of years back I participated in writing the best practices/coding style for our (fairly large and often Perl-using) company. It was done by a committee of "senior" Perl developers. As anything done by consensus, it had parts which everyone disagreed with. Duh. The part that rubbed wrong the most was a strong recommendation to NOT use many Perlisms (loosely defined as code idioms not present in, say C++ or Java), such as "Avoid using '... unless X;' constructs". The main rationale posited for such rules as this one was that non-Perl developers would have much harder time with the Perl code base otherwise. The assumption here I guess is that Perl code jockeys are rarer breed overall - and among new hires to the company - than non-Perlers. I was wondering whether SO has any good arguments to support or reject this logic... it is mostly academic curiosity at this point as the company's Perl coding standard is ossified and will never be revised again as far as I'm aware. P.S. Just to be clear, the question is in the context I noted - the answer for an all-Perl smaller development shop is obviously a resounding "use Perl to its maximum capability".

  • WPF DataGrid window resize does not resize DataGridColumns

    I have a WPF DataGrid (from the WPFToolkit package) like the following in my application. <Controls:DataGrid> <Controls:DataGrid.Columns> <Controls:DataGridTextColumn Width="1*" Binding="{Binding Path=Column1}" Header="Column 1" /> <Controls:DataGridTextColumn Width="1*" Binding="{Binding Path=Column2}" Header="Column 2" /> <Controls:DataGridTextColumn Width="1*" Binding="{Binding Path=Column3}" Header="Column 3" /> </Controls:DataGrid.Columns> </Controls:DataGrid> The column width should be automatically adjusted such that all three columns fill the width of the grid, so I set Width="1*" on every column. I encountered two problems with this approach. When the ItemsSource of the DataGrid is null or an empty List, the columns won't size to fit the width of the grid but have a fixed width of about 20 pixel. Please see the following picture: http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/3139/initialcolumnwidth.png When I maximize the application window, the columns won't adapt their size but keep their initial size.   • iTextSharp 5.0 Footer is not displaying

    I am trying to create a simple footer that would display on the bottom of each page of the pdf document. I created a class that inherits from PdfPageEventHelper and it is set properly because the OnEndPage() method is called. But my temporary footer is not displaying.   • ASP.NET 4.0 UpdatePanel and UserControl with PlaceHolder

    I don't know if this is ASP.NET 4.0 specific but I don't recall having this problem in previous versions. I have very simple user control called "TestModal" that contains a PlaceHolder control which I use to instantiate a template in. When I put an UpdatePanel inside this UserControl on the page the updatepanel only does full postbacks and not partial postbacks. What gives?   • Rewind request body stream

    I am re-implementing a request logger as Owin Middleware which logs the request url and body of all incoming requests. I am able to read the body, but if I do the body parameter in my controller is null. I'm guessing it's null because the stream position is at the end so there is nothing left to read when it tries to deserialize the body. I had a similar issue in a previous version of Web API but was able to set the Stream position back to 0. This particular stream throws a This stream does not support seek operations exception. In the most recent version of Web API 2.0 I could call Request.HttpContent.ReadAsStringAsync()inside my request logger, and the body would still arrive to the controller in tact.     Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting a DynamicObject to serialize and work with WCF?   • jQuery Autocomplete using extraParams to pass additional GET variables

    I am referring specifically to the jQuery Autocomplete v1.1 plugin by Jörn Zaefferer [source: http://bassistance.de/jquery-plugins/jquery-plugin-autocomplete/] as there seems to be quite a few variations of this plugin. I'm trying to pass additional parameters to the server when the user starts typing because I have multiple fields that I want autocomplete to provide suggestions for. In addition to the query, I want to send the input name attribute to the server but I can't seem to use $(this).attr('name') within the extraParams.     I want to run my application on 96dpi, no matter what the dpi size from Windows is set to. It is possible ?
