  • Sprite.js surface background

    I'm making a tile-based game using Sprite.js. It is not easy to redraw every tile each frame, so I tried to make a scrolling surface background. There is an example here http://batiste.dosimple.ch/sprite.js/tests/test_scrolling.html The example works, but it seems like ScrollingSurface.update is buggy or there is something I'm missing. What I tried to do is to draw 5x5 tiles and after 5 seconds draw another 5x5 tiles near the first ones. But it draws only the first ones. And surface.update() only updates the position of surface. Here is my code https://github.com/Sektoid/sprite.js/blob/master/tests/test_scrolling.html (You need also to set this.divider = 1.0 in scrolling.js to avoid drawing the same tiles 4 times.) There aren't any sprite.js-forums like with the other sprite- and game-engines have, so I'm asking here.

    If I try to shutdown my computer it simply takes me back to the login-screen. I looked around and found : Type in terminal: 1. sudo gedit /etc/default/grub 2. Find the line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" 3. Change this to: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi=force" 4. Save the file and close the file. 5. Finally, in terminal: sudo update-grub but now there is a new problem. if I try step 5 it says: myname@ubuntu:~$ sudo update-grub [sudo] password for myname: /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot find a device for / (is /dev mounted?). myname@ubuntu:~$ I am new whit linux and dont know what to do.

  • Should the networking of my game be a component or a service?

    I am working on a windows game and I am trying to understand the XNA GameComponents and GameServices classes and use. From what I understand about a component is that it has an Update method that gets call in every frame, and a service can be referenced from other components if needed. So the way I think a network component would work is that in its Update method it would receive and send data. It probably makes sense to receive the network data once per frame, but it doesn't for sending it. Shouldn't the game send its own updates to others the moment it has it to cut down on lag?

    I'm getting 4 sec delay when sending objects over UDP. Working on small game and trying to implement multiplayer. For now just trying to synchronize movements of 2 balls on the screen. StartingPoint.java is my server(first player), that receiving serialized objects (coordinates). SecondPlayer.java is client that sending serialized objects to server. When I'm moving my first object it appears 4 seconds later on different screen.   • Ubuntu 12.04 Nvidia GTX 460 video card installation

    Currently testing Ubuntu 12.04 x64 for our development team. After upgrading from 11.10 I've been having video card issues. I'm using Nvidia GeForce GTX 460. When ever I try to launch Nvidia X server I get the following error message. You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver. Please edit your X configuration file (just run nvidia-xconfig as root), and restart the X server. I've tried running sudo nvidia-xconfig multiple times and rebooting with no success. I've also tried getting the nvidia-current driver from the x-swat repo sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install nvidia-current Followed again by a reboot did nothing for me but knock my resolution down to 800x600 Finally I've tried sudo apt-get purge xserver-xorg sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg xserver-xorg-video-all sudo reboot Does anyone have any thoughts or directions they could point me in? To the best of my understanding my video card is suppose to be supported.

    Currently, my webpage images use the alt attribute only. Users complain that their IE8 cannot show the "tooltip" bubble when they mouse over the image. On Microsoft's What's New in Internet Explorer 8 page, it says The alt attribute is no longer displayed as the image tooltip when the browser is running in IE8 Standards mode. Instead, the target of the longDesc attribute is used as the tooltip if present; otherwise, the title is displayed. The alt attribute is still used as the Microsoft Active Accessibility name, and the title attribute is used as the fallback name only if alt is not present. I also found that many say title should be used. Which should I use to meet the industrial standard: alt, longdesc or title?

  • Synchronizing (updating) published files

    How can I update a published file and maintain the same URL? After saving an update of a published file on my desktop, it will automatically "synchronise" with the corresponding files at UbuntuOne (and it does). Problem is that the "new file", actually the updated file with the same name, is no longer published. Pressing the publish button results is a new URL. I now have to mail new URL's and change embedded links, as old URL will result in a failure to find the updated file (or indeed any file). I am not sure if it is a bug or a design flaw (maybe intentional?), but it seems strange to me.

  • Uncompiled WCF on IIS7: The type could not be found

    Hello, I've been trying to follow this tutorial for deploying a WCF sample to IIS . I can't get it to work. This is a hosted site, but I do have IIS Manager access to the server. However, in step 2 of the tutorial, I can't "create a new IIS application that is physically located in this application directory". I can't seem to find a menu item, context menu item, or what not to create a new application. I've been right-clicking everywhere like crazy and still can't figure out how to create a new app. I suppose that's probably the root issue, but I tried a few other things (described below) just in case that actually is not the issue. This is "deployed" at http://test.com.cws1.my-hosting-panel.com/IISHostedCalcService/Service.svc . The error says: The type 'Microsoft.ServiceModel.Samples.CalculatorService', provided as the Service attribute value in the ServiceHost directive, or provided in the configuration element system.serviceModel/serviceHostingEnvironment/serviceActivations could not be found. I also tried to create a virtual dir (IISHostedCalc) in dotnetpanel that points to IISHostedCalcService . When I navigate to http://test.com.cws1.my-hosting-panel.com/IISHostedCalc/Service.svc , then there is a different error: This collection already contains an address with scheme http. There can be at most one address per scheme in this collection.   • SharePoint 2010 - Access denied during ApplyWebConfigModifications()

    I have SharePoint 2010 installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine which is also hosting SQL Sever 2008 R2. I am attempting to deploy a solution that includes web parts in the 2010 environment that is working fine in MOSS 2007. The Web Part feature has a feature receiver that updates the web.config. When I try to activate the feature through the Site Collection Feature GUI, I receive an access denied message. I am logged on to the server and in SharePoint with the APP Pool account which is also a member of the domain administrator group, local administrator group and SharePoint Farm Admin group. This account is also dbo on SQL Server. This same feature activates fine using the stsadm command. I have dug into this issue at length and here is what I have found: Looking at the Microsoft assemblies in reflector, my error is coming from the SPWebApplication.ApplyWebConfigModifications() method. I can see the trace statements from SPWebConfigFileChanges.RemoveModificationsWebConfigXMLDocument and SPWebConfigFileChanges.ApplyModificationsWebConfigXMLDocument. The next line is a Save(str). Should I make any change because the scripts are in /Script/lib folder? NOTE I'm following the instruction found here on how to set up Windsor Castle to make it work with SignalR, and again, seems that the proxy cannot be created and I'm getting the same error: Cannot read property client of undefined meaning that the proxy to the hub was not created This is how I have it in the server public class IncidentServerHub : Hub and like this in the client var clientServerHub = $.connection.incidentServerHub; Again, I can see the dynamically created file here: /GdpSoftware.Server.Web/signalr/hubs So, Why the proxy is not created?   • How to intercept raw soap request/response (data) from WCF client

    This question seems to be pretty close to what I am looking for - I was able to setup tracing and I am looking at the log entries for my calls to the service. However I need to see the raw soap request with the data I am sending to the service and I see no way of doing that from the SvcTraceViewer (only log entries are shown but no data sent to the service) - am I just missing configuration?
