  I want to receive email when people login to my server via ssh (as a security measure), however, when I login, I get: No mail for root Email is [email protected] Does it need Postfix to work? I already install it on server but i haven't configured it Can you give me a tutorial to configure Postfix in case it needed? Will email be sent even if my domain hasn't been propagated yet? • Best way to set up servers for .NET performance

  Assume we have 3 physical servers and let's say we are only interested in performance, and not reliability. Is it better to give each server a specific function or make them all duplicates and split the traffic between them? In other words dedicate 1 as DB server, 1 as web server, and 1 as reporting server/data warehouse, or better to put all three services on each server and use them as web farm?

Note: The current command traverses the entire tree from the current location and exclude those being pruned. The exclusion needs to work for any hidden directory regardless off location.

  I'm using a pair of IP radios (non-WiFi) to bridge my office engineering LAN (172.0.0.0/8) to a lab in another building. The radios work fine, but they expose a web management interface I'd like to hide, and they also generate traffic (ARP, STP, and more) that I need to keep off my (very, very clean) LAN segments. I have some ARM-Linux boards (similar to Beagle/Panda/RasPi) running Ubuntu, and I've put one at each end of the link, between the radio and the LAN. Each of the boards has 2 wired Ethernet interfaces, eth0 and eth1. The LAN segments are connected to eth0, and the radios are connected to eth1. I'd like to accomplish the following: Keep radio-originated traffic off my LAN segments! Hide all services provided by the radio (web, ssh, etc.) Transparently pass all traffic between the LAN segments (including things like ARP). The above also applies to the ARM-Linux boards: No stray traffic my LAN from them either! I'd like the system to look like a switch: LAN packets arriving at one eth0 appear at the other. And neither eth0 should have an IP address: The working system should behave like a CAT6 cable with some latency (instead of ARM boards and radios). Unfortunately, I'm confused about how to properly configure the ARM Ubuntu systems. What I'm guessing I need is a bridge on each board (br0?) and a VLAN (vlan0 or eth0.0?) to isolate the LAN traffic from everything else as it passes through the ARM boards and the radios. Then I need some kind of a firewall to block sending anything out eth0 that isn't from the other eth0 (via the VLAN). I've looked at the ip and ebtables commands (especially -t broute). While the concepts sorta-kinda make sense, I'm completely lost in the details. Edit: In the perverse case that a system on one of my LAN segments has the same IP address as one of the radios, or as eth1 on the ARM-Ubuntu boards, a VLAN won't work. Which I believe means I need to tunnel all traffic between the two eth0 interfaces to get that "like a wire" behavior. Help? Finally, I'd like to have a way to temporarily expose services on the ARM boards (ssh) and the radios (web) for maintenance purposes. Ideally, it would expose an IP address with ssh available on port 22. Once connected, I figure I'd start an X11 session and run a browser on the ARM board to access the radios. Or something. I could login via the console to enable/disable this, or perhaps could use a GPIO to trigger a script. I feel I've identified most of the pieces needed to make all this happen, but I have no idea how to combine them to make a working system. Thanks!

  I've struggled with this one for a whole day, so here is both the problem & solution: After profiling an ASP.NET application on Windows 7 (x64), I exited Visual Studio (possibly a crash) and installed some updates which required a reboot. When I loaded back up the ASP.NET Web Application in my Visual Studio Solution was dimmed out, and the Web & WAS services turned out to be stopped. When I tried starting Windows Process Activation Service, I got the error "parameter is incorrect".

  Im writing a small wcf/wpf app to resize images but wcf is giving me grief when I try to send an image of size 28K to my service from the client. The service works fine when I send it smaller images. I immediately assumed that this was a configuration issue and I've trawled the web looking at posts regarding the MaxArrayLength property in my binding configuration. Ive upped the limits on these settings on both the client and server to the maximum 2147483647 but still I get the following error: {"The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://mywebsite.com/services/servicecontracts/2009/01:OriginalImage. • Problem Using POI To Set CellStyleProperty With HSSFCellUtil

  I have a Java class which uses Apache POI to generate reports in Excel. When I run the Java class from my IDE or command prompt, I only see warning messages from LOG4J as below: log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (org.apache.commons.beanutils.converters.BooleanConverter). log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly. log4j:WARN See http://logging.apache.org/log4j/1.2/faq.html#noconfig for more info. Despite the warning messages, the report was generated successfully. But when I run it from my web app, which uses JSP and submits the form to a Servlet which calls the Java class, the Java class seems to have problems setting the style properties to the cell. Below are the Java code and also the stack trace. I'm testing this on a Standalone OC4J and the IDE which I'm using is Oracle's JDeveloper. And the Java JDK is 1.4.2. I've been looking high and low the whole day yesterday but can't seem to find out why. • WCF: SecurityNegotiationException when using client

  So I've been trying to set up certificate authentication for my clients and services. The eventual goal is to partition data based on the certificate a client connects with (i.e. the certificate becomes their credentials in to the greater system and their data is partitioned based on these credentials). I have been able to set it up successfully on both the client and the server side. I have created a certificate and a private key, installed them on my computer, and set up my server such that 1) it has a certificate-based service credential and 2) if a client connects without providing a certificate-based credential an exception is thrown. What I then did was create a simple client and add a certificate credential to the configuration and try to call a simple operation on the service. It looks like the client connects OK, and it looks like the certificate is accepted by the server, but I do get this: SecurityNegotiationException: "The caller was not authenticated by the service." That seems rather ambiguous to me. Note that I am using wsHttpBinding, which supposedly defaults to Windows auth for transport security...but all of these processes are being run as my user account as I'm running in my debug environment. • Cannot use WCF service from windows mobile 5: no endpoint found.

  Hi All, I'm trying to figure out how to call a WCF service from a windows smart phone. I have a very simple smartphone console app, which does nothing but launch and make 1 call to the service. The service simply returns a string. I am able to instantiate the proxy class but when i call the method it throws an exception: There was no endpoint listening at http://mypcname/Service1.svc/basic that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details. The inner exception: Could not establish connection to network. I've tried to follow this tutorial on setting up services with windows mobile. I've used the NetCFSvcUtil to create the proxy classes. I have the service running on IIS on my machine and had the Util consume the wsdl from that location. I've created a basic http binding as suggested in the article and i think i've pointed the proxy at the correct uri. Here some sections of relevant code in case it's helpful to see. If anyone has any suggestions, i'd really appreciate it. I'm not sure what else i can poke at to get this thing to work. Thanks! • When adding WCF service reference, configuration details are not added to web.config

  Hi, I am trying to add a WCF service reference to my web application using VS2010. It seems to add OK, but the web.config is not updated, meaning I get a runtime exception: Could not find default endpoint element that references contract 'CoolService.CoolService' in the ServiceModel client configuration section. This might be because no configuration file was found for your application, or because no endpoint element matching this contract could be found in the client element. Obviously, because the service is not defined in my web.config. Steps to reproduce: Right click solution Add New Project ASP.NET Empty Web Application. Right click Service References in the new web app Add Service Reference. Enter address of my service and click Go. My service is visible in the left-hand Services section, and I can see all its operations. Type a namespace for my service. Click OK. The service reference is generated correctly, and I can open the Reference.cs file, and it all looks OK. Open the web.config file. • Custom binding with WCF

  I have a wcf service where i have to implement the call backs and also i need to host the wcf service on the IIS 6.0, since IIS6.0 doesnot support the net.tcp binding, i decided to go for the custom binding. The reasons for going for custom binding is that the service is accessed by different clients in different timezones. Using custom binding i can set the allowed clock skew time to other values other than the default one. But as soon as i run the server and client on different machine i get the following error "Could not connect to http://10.155.18.198:9000/e60ba5b3-f979-4922-b9f8-c820caaa04c2. TCP error code 10060: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 10.155.18.198:9000." Can anyone in the community help me in this regard.
