• Scan all domain workstations for specific registry key/environmental variable

  I'm looking for scripts or software that can scan workstations on a domain for a particular environmental variable (for interest, it was used to store the SOE build version) and generate a report. Accuracy is key, I don't want any workstations skipped or missed. And considering workstations will need to be powered on for anything to remotely read from the registry (and there's no guarantee they will be), that means something that can sit and run continuously for a while, updating its own records as it goes. Does anyone know of such a beast?

• Is there a way to use Xcode for PHP web development?

  I have heard you could use Xcode for PHP development with syntax highlighting, syntax check, code completion etc. some time ago, maybe years ago. Is there a way to add PHP support to a current Xcode version (3.2.2 or later)? Currently I use NetBeans for PHP development and I've tried some other IDEs. I just like Xcode and wondered if this is an option, too.

  Hi, since Teamspeak version 3 sends lots of packets per user and our provider is getting problems with his infrastructure above 20.000 packets per second we have to limit it that our servers are not going to be shut down. Red a lot about iptables but was not able to find the right rules. Could you give me an advise how to manage that the server is not going to send more than 19k packets per seconds? • Merging `Program Files` and `Program Files (x86)` folders in Windows 7 64-bit

  Windows 7 64-bit version installs 32-bit programs to Program Files (x86) folder, and 64-bit programs to Program Files folder. Of course, Microsoft must have a reason for doing that, but as a user I don't find it handy to have 2 separate program folders. Is there any way to merge those folders into one (preferably, Program Files) without corrupting installed programs? And would it be a problem to install 32-bit applications into Program Files folder?

  My browsing and other 'internet' activity (dropbox,digsby etc) halts when I connect to my office VPN using Cisco Systems VPN client Version 5.0.04.0300 on my Windows 7 Ultimate.The only option left for me at this time is to use my office proxy to enable the connection back. I tried doing the ucheck "Use default gateway on remote network" solution as mentioned on a previous post Windows 7 VPN stops web browser but I don't see that option on the properties of "Cisco systems VPN adapter" connection properties. • Sysinternal's Process Explorer v14 doesn't show network activity.

  The new version of Process Explorer shows network activity history, but it doesn't in one of my computers. This particular PC runs Windows XP SP3 and it has just been reformatted so everything is "fresh". I have even installed WinPCap and Microsoft Network monitor, in case some of these drivers were necessary, but the graph stays in 0. Any ideas why this could happen? I would ask in Sysinternal's forum, but I really don't want to register in yet another forum.

  I was stupid enough to compile sqlite3 from source and install it to /usr, overriding default library. This being done, Google Chrome doesn't launch anymore, crashing with this output: Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libsqlite3.dylib Referenced from: /System/Library/Frameworks/Security.framework/Versions/A/Security Reason: no suitable image found. Did find: /usr/lib/libsqlite3.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture /usr/local/lib/libsqlite3.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture /usr/lib/libsqlite3.dylib: mach-o, but wrong architecture Can I somehow revert sqlite3 to the original version I had, or fix the issue somehow else?

• HP to Cisco spanning tree root flapping

  Per a recent question I recently configured both my HP (2x 2900) and Cisco (1x 3750) hardware to use MSTP for interoperability. I thought this was functional until I applied the change to the third device (HP switch 1 below) at which time the spanning tree root started flapping causing performance issues (5% packet loss) between my two HP switches. I'm not sure why. HP Switch 1 A4 connected to Cisco 1/0/1. HP Switch 2 B2 connected to Cisco 2/0/1. HP Switch 1 A2 connected to HP Switch 2 A1. I'd prefer the Cisco stack to act as the root. EDIT: There is one specific line - 'spanning-tree 1 path-cost 500000' in the HP switch 2 that I didn't add and was preexisting. I'm not sure if it could have the kind of impact that I'm describing. I'm more a security and monitoring guy then networking. EDIT 2: I'm starting to believe the problem lies in the fact that the value for my MST 0 instance on the Cisco is still at the default 32768. I worked up a diagram: This is based on every show command I could find for STP. I'll make this change after hours and see if it helps. After the upgrade, if I try to use the Cisco VPN client to connect to a network, I get this message: Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 440: Driver Failure. Prior to the upgrade, I was able to connect with no problems. The version of the client I am using is 5.0.05.0290.

  I've downloaded the 30 day trial version of TextMate and wanted to use a plugin for coffeescript. The instructions for installing the plugin say to go to this directory cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/TextMate/Bundles (Textmate 1) Once I changed into the TextMate directory and started looking for Bundles by doing ls it only showed TextMate.pid In other words, no Bundles directory.... Once I was in the Bundles directory, I'm supposed to do git clone git://github.com/jashkenas/coffee-script-tmbundle CoffeeScriptBundle.tmbundle but didn't want to try that without first being in the Bundles directory.

After installation, it asks to configure ADFS, but this step requires a user account that is a domain administrator, as it wants to create certificate containers and SPN records. In ADFS 2.0, you could install in standalone mode which required only local admin rights, storing everything in the Windows Internal Database. If this still possible with the latest version? If so, how do I configure ADFS in standalone mode?

• Keeping new Ubuntu installation's /var on separate drive without formatting

  I have a server running an older version of Ubuntu and with /var stored on a separate partition on a separate hard drive. I am attempting to update Ubuntu to 10.04, but I still want to store /var on a separate partition and hard drive. However, I don't want to format the drive which currently contains /var, as it has important data. Is there some way to have 10.04 set up the new /var on this separate drive at installation, without formatting the drive and losing the old /var?

• How can I force a MySQL table to become corrupted?

  I have written a simple Nagios plugin that calls mysqlcheck (which checks for corrupted tables) and will give a warning if any are corrupt. However none of my tables are corrupt now. So I'm not 100% sure that my plugin is working fine. I have a dev server that's not misson critical. How can I force one (or any) of the tables there to be corrupt so that I can test my nagios alert? For the record the server is Ubuntu Dapper and the mysql is version 5.0

• Update to recent stable php in Ubuntu 12.04

  We run an Ubuntu 12.04 server where php 5.3.10 is installed by default. I thought Ubuntu did only apply bugfixes in their updates, so micros like 5.3.x should pass through. Apparently, our version isn't updated, but we are stuck with a critical bug in php which is solved in 5.3.15. Should I wait longer for this release to bubble up? Or are there safe repositories to use for Ubuntu to continuously update php and php related packages?

• Linux flash player settings dialog unclickable

  I'm using Slackware 13. When a flash app pops up the allow/deny dialog, I'm stuck because the buttons are unclickable. My adobe flash player version is 10,0,42,34. How can I fix this problem? Edit: I'm using fluxbox. I'm using an acer notebook with a synaptics touchpad... both the touchpad and the mouse can't interact with the dialog.
