    - by Steve
I need to launch two external programs in my program and connect the STDOUT of the first one to the STDIN of the second program. How can you achieve this in Delphi (RAD Studio 2009, if it matters)? I'm operating in Windows environment. As a commandline command my situation would look something like this: dumpdata.exe | encrypt.exe "mydata.dat"

    - by Dr Hydralisk
I am just getting started with C++ and wanted to know does it really matter what template you chose in Visual Studio 2010 (for creating executables)? Like if I was creating a console application there is CLR Console Application, Win32 Console Application, and Win32 Project (description says it can be an application or a dll), what would I chose (or could i select Empty Project)?

  • drag drop no longer working once application gets installed.

    - by Sdry
I have an application that has drag and drop functionality to import images and video's. While developing, and testing through Visual Studio this has never given any problems. After installing through a set up project, everything in the application works fine, except the drag and drop, which seems to be doing nothing. Are there any security settings that need to be set through an installer, or something of that nature that could be preventing drag and drop after installation ?

  • Programming introduction book

    - by Avi
Hello there, I've offered an out-of-job girl to help her study programming (with an MCSD as the ultimate goal) - and she has no progrmming knowledge. The idea is that she'll study from books and I"ll help. Help- I need a gentle introduction to programming book, very easy, very practical, very hands-on and up to date. Optimally would be for the .Net 4.0 MS enviornment (C#,Visual Basic) but other alternaitves (Jave, Python etc.) are OK.

    - by Art

You need to manually configure you Web server for ASP.NET 2.0 in order for your site to run correctly. I'm using asp.net 2.0, IIS7 and running on vista home premium. How to register ASP.NET 2.0 to my web server(IIS7)?

  • Compare text of two methods

    - by The Talking Walnut
Is there a tool that can do a diff of two methods? I'm working on some legacy code that has several 100-200 line methods that contain a lot of duplication and I would like to abstract the duplication out. Being able to diff the two methods would be a huge help. In case it matters, I'm working with .NET and Visual Studio 2008.

  • Why dll can't be used in c++?

    - by Mask
It's pointed out by this answer: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2532280/failed-to-link-mysql5-1-39-bin-libmysql-dll-in-a-c-project/2532382#2532382 But I don't understand why,.dll is essentially the same as .lib except for there is only one copy of it used by different processes. Does it have anything to do with the IDE?I'm using visual c++ 2008 express

  • Windows development on a Mac Pro

    - by Frank
Looking to do iphone, android, and possibly windows phone development on a Mac Pro. What are the pluses and minuses of using a Mac Pro and a dual boot. Unlike most, Windows 7 will be the primary OS since most supporting software will be done with Visual Studio 08/10 over the next year. I have found driver issues from a few years ago. Do any of these issues still exist?

  • Explaining your system to a client

    - by Sir Graystar
I'm currently developing a small Database Management System for a local company. How would you go about explaining how the system you have designed to a client? If they are non-technical and have no understanding of programming, how would you go about showing what the system will do and how it will do it? I guess some sort of visual representation of the system but this seems very patronising to me.
