    Hi all, I am experiencing problems creating a connection pool in glassfish v3, just for reference i am using the Java EE glassfish bundle. my enviroment vars are as follows Url:   • Error in loading component property (Swing GUI Forms)

    For no apparent reason all my Swing GUI forms using components linked to org.jdesktop.beansbinding.Converter started generating errors when trying to open the Design View: Error Error in loading component property: [JPanel]-filterTextField-converter. Cannot load property type class org.jdesktop.beansbinding.Converter. The property cannot be loaded. Errors occurred in loading... I'm currently using Netbeans 6.8. I opened my project in Netbeans 6.7.1 and all was fine but after a while the same thing happened. Looking at the .form and .java files and comparing it to previous backups, everything looks fine. Even my Netbeans tutorial project no longer works. What can cause this. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.   • jQuery Map Highlight - works fine at DOM ready but failed when loaded by AJAX

    Hi all: This is uni assignment and I have already done some stuff. Please go to the password protected directory on : my server Enter username "uts" and password "10479475", both without quotes, into the prompt and you shall be able to see the webpage. Basically, if you hover your mouse on top of the contents in worldmap to the upperleft corner, you can see the underneath area is "highlighted" by a gray region and a red border. This is done using one jQuery plugin : at here This part works fine, however, after I use jQuery to load the specific continent map asynchronously, the newly loaded image cannot work correctly. Tested under Firebug, I can see the plugin doesn't "like" the new image cause I cannot find the canvas or other auto-generated stuff which can be founded around the worldmap. All the functionality is done in master.js, I believe you can just download a copy and check the code there. I do hope that I have followed the tutorials on the plugin's doc page, but I just cannot get through the final stage.     I know, I know... Eric Lippert's answer to this kind of question is usually something like "because it wasn't worth the cost of designing, implementing, testing and documenting it". But still, I'd like a better explanation... I was reading this blog post about new C# 4 features, and in the section about COM Interop, the following part caught my attention : By the way, this code uses one more new feature: indexed properties (take a closer look at those square brackets after Range.) But this feature is available only for COM interop; you cannot create your own indexed properties in C# 4.0. OK, but why ? I already knew and regretted that it wasn't possible to create indexed properties in C#, but this sentence made me think again about it. I can see several good reasons to implement it : the CLR supports it (for instance, PropertyInfo.GetValue has an index parameter), so it's a pity we can't take advantage of it in C# it is supported for COM interop, as shown in the article (using dynamic dispatch) it is implemented in VB.NET it is already possible to create indexers, i.e. to apply an index to the object itself, so it would probably be no big deal to extend the idea to properties, keeping the same syntax and just replacing this with a property name It would allow to write that kind of things : public class Foo { private string[] _values = new string[3]; public string Values[int index] { get { return _values[index]; } set { _values[index] = value; } } } Currently the only workaround that I know is to create an inner class (ValuesCollection for instance) that implements an indexer, and change the Values property so that it returns an instance of that inner class. This is very easy to do, but annoying... So perhaps the compiler could do it for us !   • An "elegant" way of identifying a field?

    Hi. I'm writing a system that underlies programmer applications and that needs to detect their access to certain data. I can mostly do so with properties, like this: public class NiceClass { public int x { get; set; } } Then I go in and tweak the get and set accessors so that they handle the accesses appropriately. However this requires that the users (application programmers) define all of their data as properties. If the users want to use pre-existing classes that have "normal" fields (as opposed to properties), I cannot detect those accesses. Example: public class NotSoNiceClass { public int y; } I cannot detect accesses to y. However, I want to allow the use of pre-existing classes. As a compromise the users are responsible for notifying me whenever an access to that kind of data occurs. For example: NotSoNiceClass notSoNice; ... Write(notSoNice.y, 0); // (as opposed to notSoNice.y = 0;) Something like that. Believe me, I've researched this very thoroughly and even directly analysing the bytecode to detect accesses isn't reliable due to possible indirections, etc. I really do need the users to notify me. And now my question: could you recommend an "elegant" way to perform these notifications? (Yes, I know this whole situation isn't "elegant" to begin with; I'm trying not to make it worse ;) ). How would you do it? This is a problem for me because actually the situation is like this: I have the following class: public class SemiNiceClass { public NotSoNiceClass notSoNice { get; set; } public int z { get; set; } } If the user wants to do this: SemiNiceClass semiNice; ... semiNice.notSoNice.y = 0; They must instead do something like this: semiNice.Write("notSoNice").y = 0; Where Write will return a clone of notSoNice, which is what I wanted the set accessor to do anyway. However, using a string is pretty ugly: if later they refactor the field they'll have to go over their Write("notSoNice") accesses and change the string. How can we identify the field? I can only think of strings, ints and enums (i.e., ints again). But: We've already discussed the problem with strings. Ints are a pain. They're even worse because the user needs to remember which int corresponds to which field. Refactoring is equally difficult. Enums (such as NOT_SO_NICE and Z, i.e., the fields of SemiNiceClass) ease refactoring, but they require the user to write an enum per class (SemiNiceClass, etc), with a value per field of the class. It's annoying. I don't want them to hate me ;) So why, I hear you ask, can we not do this (below)? semiNice.Write(semiNice.notSoNice).y = 0; Because I need to know what field is being accessed, and semiNice.notSoNice doesn't identify a field. It's the value of the field, not the field itself. Sigh. I know this is ugly. Believe me ;) I'll greatly appreciate suggestions. Thanks in advance!     I have a Location class which represents a location somewhere in a stream. (The class isn't coupled to any specific stream.) The location information will be used to match tokens to location in the input in my parser, to allow for nicer error reporting to the user. I want to add location tracking to a TextReader instance. This way, while reading tokens, I can grab the location (which is updated by the TextReader as data is read) and give it to the token during the tokenization process. I am looking for a good approach on accomplishing this goal. I have come up with several designs. Manual location tracking Every time I need to read from the TextReader, I call AdvanceString on the Location object of the tokenizer with the data read. Advantages Very simple. No class bloat. No need to rewrite the TextReader methods. Disadvantages Couples location tracking logic to tokenization process. Easy to forget to track something (though unit testing helps with this). Bloats existing code. Plain TextReader wrapper Create a LocatedTextReaderWrapper class which surrounds each method call, tracking a Location property. Example: public class LocatedTextReaderWrapper : TextReader { private TextReader source; public Location Location { get; set; } public LocatedTextReaderWrapper(TextReader source) : this(source, new Location()) { } public LocatedTextReaderWrapper(TextReader source, Location location) { this.Location = location; this.source = source; } public override int Read(char[] buffer, int index, int count) { int ret = this.source.Read(buffer, index, count); if(ret >= 0) { this.location.AdvanceString(string.Concat(buffer.Skip(index).Take(count))); } return ret; } // etc. } Advantages Tokenization doesn't know about Location tracking. Disadvantages User needs to create and dispose a LocatedTextReaderWrapper instance, in addition to their TextReader instance. Doesn't allow different types of tracking or different location trackers to be added without layers of wrappers. Event-based TextReader wrapper Like LocatedTextReaderWrapper, but decouples it from the Location object raising an event whenever data is read. Advantages Can be reused for other types of tracking. Tokenization doesn't know about Location tracking or other tracking. Can have multiple, independent Location objects (or other methods of tracking) tracking at once. Disadvantages Requires boilerplate code to enable location tracking. User needs to create and dispose the wrapper instance, in addition to their TextReader instance. Aspect-orientated approach Use AOP to perform like the event-based wrapper approach. Advantages Can be reused for other types of tracking. Tokenization doesn't know about Location tracking or other tracking. No need to rewrite the TextReader methods. Disadvantages Requires external dependencies, which I want to avoid. I am looking for the best approach in my situation. I would like to: Not bloat the tokenizer methods with location tracking. Not require heavy initialization in user code. Not have any/much boilerplate/duplicated code. (Perhaps) not couple the TextReader with the Location class. Any insight into this problem and possible solutions or adjustments are welcome. Thanks!   • IE positioning problems

    In every browser but IE, on euroworker.no/order the little green arrow under the word "produkt" sits on top of my div container. Why in the world does this not work in IE? Thing is, it works on two pages out of four in IE but all four in other browsers. If simply pass objects 'as is' that boost throws exception about duplicated pointers. But I'm confused of creating pointers to save objects. The second (2) is a real trouble. If comment out string after (2.1) then boost will corectly load a first Key object (and init internal Door pointer pDoor), but will not init a second Door (d_in) object. After this I have an inited *k_in* object with valid pointer to Door and empty *d_in* object. If use string (2.2) then boost will create two Key and Door objects somewhere in memory and save addresses in pointers. But I want to have two objects *k_in* and *d_in*. So, if I copy a values of memory objects to local variables then I store only addresses, for example, I can write code after (2.2): d_in.id = pD->id; d_in.pKey = pD->pKey; But in this case I store only a pointer and memory object remains in memory and I cannot delete it, because *d_in.pKey* will be unvalid. And I cannot perform a deep copy with operator=(), because if I write code like this: Key &operator==(const Key &k) { if (this != &k) { id = k.id; // call to Door::operator=() that calls *pKey = *d.pKey and so on *pDoor = *k.pDoor; } return *this; } then I will get a something like recursion of operator=()s of Key and Door. How to implement proper serialization of such pointers?

    Hi as per following Connection pool configuration facing some issue. Place a copy of mysql-connector-java-[version]-bin.jar in $JBOSS_HOME/server/all/lib. Then, follow the example configuration file named mysql-ds.xml in the $JBOSS_HOME/docs/examples/jca directory that comes with a JBoss binary installation. To activate your DataSource, place an xml file that follows the format of mysql-ds.xml in the deploy subdirectory in either $JBOSS_HOME/server/all, $JBOSS_HOME/server/default, or $JBOSS_HOME/server/[yourconfig] as appropriate.     I'm working with eBay's LMS (Large Merchant Services) and kept running into the error: org.xml.sax.SAXException: SimpleDeserializer encountered a child element, which is NOT expected, in something it was trying to deserialize. After alot of trial and error I traced the problem down. All of my XML is currently being marshalled via JAXB and I'm not sure what is the best way to go about adding a second xmlns attribute to a different element in my file. So that's the question. The BulkDataExchange probably takes the XML payload, breaks it up, and send the pieces out to the Merchant or Trading API. The inner pieces of the payload then do not have the namespace and the get the error. This is a guess on my part but I wouldn't be surprised if this is what was going on behind the scenes. If I take out the <td class="vaM taC">< img src="http://icons-ecast.wxug.com/i/c/a/[%w_]+.gif" it'll match condition flawlessly. (For whatever reason, I can't get the above line to display correctly, but there is no space between the `< and img) Can anyone point out what is wrong with it? Aside from the pattern matching, I assure you the line is verbatim from the webpage. Another question I had is the ability to match across line breaks. Is there any possible way to do this? The reason why I ask is because on that same page, a few of the things I need to match are broken up on separate lines, and since the actual pattern I'm wanting to match shows up in other places on the page, I need to be able to match across line breaks to get the exact pattern. I appreciate any help in this matter!

    Hi guys I'm trying to paste text right into where the cursor currently is. I have been trying to do what it says at: - http://dev.ragfield.com/2009/09/insert-text-at-current-cursor-location.html The main deal is that I can't just go textbox1.text (etc) because the textfield is in the middle of a custom cell. I want to just have some text added to where the cursor is (when I press a custom key on a keyboard). -I just want to paste a decimal into the textbox...   • Tomcat/Hibernate Problem "SEVERE: Error listenerStart"

    I downloaded working example of hibernate (with maven) and installed it on my tomcat, it worked. Then I created a new web project in MyEclipse, added hibernate support and moved all source files (no jar) to this new project and fixed package/paths wherever was necessary. My servlets are responding correctly but when I add "Listener" in web.xml, tomcat returns error "Error ListenerStart" on startup and my application doesn't start. I've carefully checked all packages, paths and classes, they look good.   • css problem lining up some icons...
