• how does gwt work or rather how gwt loads the code into the app.html file

  i would like to know what the rootPanel (which is in the entryClass) exactly is and how gwt loads the java code into the appname.html file via rootpanel. what happens there exactly? where is the connection between the rootpanel and the html file. i could not find any side which explains this process in a detail. the only thing i know i that all the created panels are div-elements. it would be very helpfulf if somebody could explain it or send some good links to websites which are explaining this issue. thx!

• Continue NSURLConnection/NSURLRequest from a given Byte

  I am working with a web service right now that requires me to upload video binaries straight to their web form via the iPhone SDK. Simple enough. The part that is getting me though is when the connection is interrupted, they want me to be able to continue the upload from a given byte. So here is what I have: the original data & the last byte uploaded What I need to know: how can I continue the data from that byte? I seems like it would be something similar to truncating NSData by the byte but I do not know how to do that for an NSURLConnection/NSURLRequest. Thank you!

• PayPal IPN & ASP.NET MVC

  Hello - I have a strange problem that somebody can hopefully help me with. For a while now I have been using PayPal's IPN service for our website. In order to test it I have a port opened up on our firewall pointing to my machine. This has been working great with no problems at all. I recently upgraded to the RTM release of ASP.NET MVC and now things are not working. I can navigate to my IPN handler from the outside world so I know it's not my connection or a firewall issue. It simply refuses to recieve any PayPal IPN messages. I am puzzled why the page can be accessed yet the PayPal IPN server wont connect to it. I realize there could be a 1000 different reasons for this, but I am hoping somebody out there can point me in the right direction!

  I have an applet that is communicating with a servlet. I am communicating with the servlet using POST method. My problem is how do I send parameters to the servlet. Using GET method, this is fairly simple ( I just append the parameters to the URL after a ?). But using POST method how do I send the parameters, so that in the servlet side, I can use the statement : message = req.getParameter("msg"); In the applet side, I establish POST method connection as follows : URL url = new URL(getCodeBase(), "servlet"); URLConnection con = url.openConnection(); con.setDoInput(true); con.setDoOutput(true); con.setUseCaches(false); con.setRequestProperty("Content-Type","application/octet-stream");

• Copying Some from a PostgreSQL Server to Another

  I am in need of an application that can periodically transmit select rows from a PostgreSQL database across a network to a second PostgreSQL server. Typically these will be the most recent row added, pulled and transmitted every 10-30 seconds. The primary servers run in a MS Windows environment with a high-latency, and occasionally intermittent, network connection. Therefore, any application would have to be tolerant of this and ideally automatically reconnect / resend data that could not be transmitted. Due to the environment and the requirements, a full-blown replication package would be unnecessary. I appreciate any help anyone has with this problem.

How can I achieve this? Also, if during execution the database goes down and comes up again, how can i ensure that my program recovers from this and continues running instead of throwing an exception and exiting?

  Hi, I have a ASP.NET MVC application which is build up as an assembly that queries the database and a asp.net frontend that references this assembly and this assembly abstracts the underlying database. This means that my Assembly contains a app.config file that contains the connectionstring to the database (Linq to Sql data model). How do I go about making this more flexible? Should i make a "initialize()" method somewhere in my assembly which takes the connection string from the asp.net mvc application and then that controls which database to use? or how is this done?

My datatable looks like this (each day's value is a number representing kilowatts usage forecast): Hour Day1 Day2 Day3 Day4 Day5 Day6 Day7 1 519 520 524 498 501 476 451 My database file looks like this: Day Hour KWForecast 1 1 519 2 1 520 3 1 524 ... and so on. Basically, I want to be able to read one row from the datatable, and then extrapolate that out to my database file, one record at a time. Each row from the datatable will result in seven records written to the database file. Any ideas on how to go about this? I can connect to my database, the connection string works, and I can update and delete from the database. I just can't wrap my head around how to do this one record at a time.

A website about foo." Much later, my site can post other updates to the users wall using the stored authorization from step 3. • Link objects as fields in UML diagram

  I'm trying to generate a diagram for a design document. I've generated a class diagram in VS. At the moment it's just a bunch of unconnected boxes as there isn't any inheritance going on. It feels like it would be more useful if I could show how the objects interact through properties and parameters. As an example, a Boy class has a method Kiss which takes a Girl object. How can I show that Boy and Girl interact by connecting this in the diagram? Is there a notation for this in UML? Or is there another type of diagram that shows this? Can I make VS draw this connection for me somehow? Or is this a silly/useless idea? It just doesn't feel like a proper diagram unless it's got some lines on it somewhere :)

• "No database selected" even when db clearly selected

  One of my webpages gets a recurring error: "No database selected", even though the DB is selected. Right about now it's a 50-50 chance whether the page will load just fine, or whether I receive this error. After one or two reloads, the page works again. I am including the exact same connection file on my other pages, and I don't have this problem. What could be the cause of this? I'm using ensim pro for webhosting. TIA.

  I have a new client with an old website using massive amounts of tables and inline styles. Some page weigh over 3MB due to huge backgrounds and other large images. I suggested they at least compress the files to speed up the site but they're convinced it's fast. Since they have 13Mbit connection at the office everything seems fast. I'm looking for a tweak, program or web app capable of loading pages at varying speeds so they understand how it might load for slower DSL or (gasp) dialup users. Thanks for any help!

  I know there are a few apps that allow a jail broken iPhone to tether over WiFi to a computer so the computer can use the iPhone's 3G. What I want to know is if anyone knows of any open source apps that do this, or partial code to handle the majority of this that I could make in to a minimal app? I don't want to jail break since I do official development, but would like to be able to compile and sideload an app on my personal phone to do this. Even without jail broken privileges an app could use an existing wifi connection (adhoc created by the computer) to share its 3G.

  Hi I am getting the following errors reported by ELMAH on my asp.net mvc 2 site for javascript files, images etc. System.Web.HttpException: The remote host closed the connection I have done some research and it appears that the user/bot is clicking a link on the site before the page has fully loaded. Now this error never occurs on a controller action but always on a file that is on disk. e.g. /Content/CmsImages/logo.png /Content/CmsImages/MemberImages/Photo-001605.jpg /Content/jquery.tickertype.js So this means that all static files are being routed through the mvc pipeline. What options do I have?

  Hibernate is flooding my IDE console with tons of unnecessary informations at every connection. I already read out the documentation and googled trying to solve this issue but till now the problem "persists". My persistence.xml: ... ... My log4j.xml: ... ... I have no other log4j configuration in my project and even in my environment. Anyone there figured out how to disable the Hibernate console logs? Maybe has something I didn´t understand? • Open Python shell through SSH

  I'm using this tool to set up a ssh server on Windows. I'm trying to open the standard Python shell through a remote ssh connection but I simply can't get it to work. If I type 'python' in my ssh command line nothing happens, it just seems to wait for more input. My server machine however, shows a new python process running after I do this. Running scripts works fine, though. Do I need to use another Python shell, some other ssh server, some different configs? Thanks

  I know that table sources need a data source to hold the data that the tableview will display. Lets' say that I'm going to make my AppController be the data source of my tableview and that I make the connection in interface builder. My question is since my actual data is going to be stored in an array,let's call it myArray, when I set the data source in code should I do this [tableView setDataSource:myArray]; or this [tableView setDataSource:self]; I'm confused about this. setting the data source with the keyword "self" would set it to the AppController if I'm not mistaken.

From what I understand after reading around a bit I should just need to mark the page as uncacheable but I can't get any browsers to refresh the page.   I am trying to run this code: ItemTaxonomy iTaxonomy = from itemTaxonomy in connection.ItemTaxonomy where itemTaxonomy.Item.ID == itemView.ID orderby itemTaxonomy.Taxonomy.Name select itemTaxonomy; When I compiled it I get the error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Linq.IOrderedQueryable<Website.Models.ItemTaxonomy>' to 'Website.Models.ItemTaxonomy'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) I believe the issue is with orderby itemTaxonomy.Taxonomy.Name but I am just trying to order by the name of Taxonomy items instead of their IDs. Is there a way to do that?

• No Internet access while being connected to VPN using Cisco VPN Client 5.

  Hi, I have an access to corporate VPN using Cisco VPN Client 5.0.00:0340, but when I'm connected to it, I don't have an Internet access. I'm using Windows XP SP3. As it was suggested here http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?t=209167 , I tried to enable "Allow local LAN Access" but it doesn't work. I also tried a second solution - deleting entry using "route" command, but it didn't help. I used "route delete 192.168.100.222". It's a third day of my attempts to solve this issue and I don't have an idea what else to do. I'm not very experienced in VPN stuff, but I know something about networking. Basing on my knowledge, I think that it's theoretically possible to achieve Internet access using my local network and only corporate stuff to be routed using VPN connection. I think that theoretically this should look like this: every IP being inside by corporation - VPN interface IP every other IP - my ethernet interface I've tried many possibilities of how to change those routes, but neither of them work. I'd really appreciate any help.   hi, i just have a few weeks programming with vc# (2008) and i'm trying to build an application (winforms) and i have the following problem... i need my application to work with and without connection to the mssql database, this sounds like piece of cake for our friend DataSet right? i can persist the data as XML or binary until i can reach the database and the DataSet will magically sync; all without bothering the user. The problem is... the few books i have read just mention that logic like a fairy tale but dont give any practical example of how to do it, can you point me to one example/demo/whatever i can read or download of an application with (equal or) similar logic?

• How to control the memory size of continuously running windows service?

  Hi, I have created a windows service which is continuously polling a database. For this purpose i have a timer in place. Ever time i am querying a database table i open a connection and close it immediately after my work is done. Right now i am doing this every 20 seconds for testing purpose, but later this time might increase to 5 - 10 minutes. What happens is everytime the database table is polled there is an increase of 10-12 KB in the size of the memory of the service running. This i can see in the task manager. Is there any way to control this.
