  • IE event callback object JavaScript

    - by Randy Hall
I may be WAY off on my terminology, so please feel free to correct me. Perhaps this is why I cannot seem to find anything relevant. No libraries, please. I have an event handler, which invokes a callback function. Fancy, right? In IE<9 the this object in the handler is the window. I don't know why, or how to access the correct object. if (document.addEventListener){ element.addEventListener(event, callback, false); } else { element.attachEvent('on' +event, callback); } This part DOES WORK. This part doesn't: function callback(event){ console.log(this); } this in IE is returning [object Window], whereas it returns the element that called the callback function in every other browser. This is cut down significantly from my full script, but this should be everything that's relevant. EDIT This link provided by @metadings How to reference the caller object ("this") using attachEvent is very close. However, there are still two issues. 1) I need to get both the event object and the DOM element calling this function. 2) This event is handled delegation style: there may be child DOM elements firing the event, meaning event.target is not necessarily (and in my case, not typically) the element with the listener.

  • Pass checkbox values with Jquery to PHP and display result in div

    - by user1343955
    I want to filter realtime results with jQuery (just like on this site http://shop.www.hi.nl/hi/mcsmambo.p?M5NextUrl=RSRCH). So when someones checks a checkbox the results should update realtime (in a div). Now I'm a newbie with jQuery and I've tried lots of examples but I can't get it to work. Here's my code, could anyone tell what I'm doing wrong? Thank you very much! HTML <div id="c_b"> Kleur:<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="kleur[1]" value="Blauw"> Blauw <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="kleur[2]" value="Wit"> Wit <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="kleur[3]" value="Zwart"> Zwart <br /> <br /> Operating System:<br /> <input type="checkbox" name="os[1]" value="Android"> Android <br /> <input type="checkbox" name="os[2]" value="Apple iOS"> Apple iOS <br /> </div> <div id="myResponse">Here should be the result</div> jQuery function updateTextArea() { var allVals = []; $('#c_b :checked').each(function() { allVals.push($(this).val()); }); var dataString = $(allVals).serialize(); $.ajax({ type:'POST', url:'/wp-content/themes/u-design/filteropties.php', data: dataString, success: function(data){ $('#myResponse').html(data); } }); } $(document).ready(function() { $('#c_b input').click(updateTextArea); updateTextArea(); }); PHP //Just to see if the var passing works echo var_export($_POST);

  • JS: capture a static snapshot of an object at a point in time with a method

    - by Barney
I have a JS object I use to store DOM info for easy reference in an elaborate GUI. It starts like this: var dom = { m:{ old:{}, page:{x:0,y:0}, view:{x:0,y:0}, update:function(){ this.old = this; this.page.x = $(window).width(); this.page.y = $(window).height(); this.view.x = $(document).width(); this.view.y = window.innerHeight || $(window).height(); } I call the function on window resize: $(window).resize(function(){dom.m.update()}); The problem is with dom.m.old. I would have thought that by calling it in the dom.m.update() method before the new values for the other properties are assigned, at any point in time dom.m.old would contain a snapshot of the dom.m object as of the last update – but instead, it's always identical to dom.m. I've just got a pointless recursion method. Why isn't this working? How can I get a static snapshot of the object that won't update without being specifically told to? Comments explaining how I shouldn't even want to be doing anything remotely like this in the first place are very welcome :)

  • Browser dependent problem rendering WMD with Showdown.js?

    - by CMPalmer
This should be easy (at least no one else seems to be having a similar problem), but I can't see where it is breaking. I'm storing Markdown'ed text in a database that is entered on a page in my app. The text is entered using WMD and the live preview looks correct. On another page, I'm retrieving the markdown text and using Showdown.js to convert it back to HTML client-side for display. Let's say I have this text: The quick **brown** fox jumped over the *lazy* dogs. 1. one 1. two 4. three 17. four I'm using this snippet of Javascript in my jQuery document ready event to convert it: var sd = new Attacklab.showdown.converter(); $(".ClassOfThingsIWantConverted").each(function() { this.innerHTML = sd.makeHtml($(this).html()); } I suspect this is where my problem is, but it almost works. In FireFox, I get what I expected: The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogs. one two three four But in IE (7 and 6), I get this: The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogs. 1. one 1. two 4. three 17. four So apparently, IE is stripping the breaks in my markdown code and just converting them to spaces. When I do a view source of the original code (prior to the script running), the breaks are there inside the container DIV. What am I doing wrong? UPDATE It is caused by the IE innerHTML/innerText "quirk" and I should have mentioned before that this one on an ASP.Net page using data bound controls - there are obviously a lot of different workarounds otherwise.

  • Colorbox does not refresh its contents when I change URL

    - by Josef Sábl
I am trying to make use of Colorbox on my webpage. One specific feature does not work as expected, though. In their example (Outside Webpage - Iframe specifically) Google appears in the Colorbox when clicked. When you change href on that link (Using Firebug or JavaScript, e.g.) to, let's say, Yahoo, it works as expected and Yahoo is displayed after click. But not in my case. Once I click the link, I have no way to change the URL. Href, as displayed in browser, changes (to Yahoo), but click always opens the first page (Google). What might be the problem? I almost copy-pasted their example: <script src="/lib/jquery.js"></script> <script src="/lib/jquery.colorbox.js"></script> <p><a class='example7' href="http://yahoo.com">Outside Webpage (Iframe)</a></p> <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $(".example7").colorbox({width:"80%", height:"80%", iframe:true}); }); </script> My jquery version is 1.4.1 but I also tried same version as their example uses (1.3.2)

  • Data Modeling of Entity with Attributes

    - by StackOverflowNewbie
I'm storing some very basic information "data sources" coming into my application. These data sources can be in the form of a document (e.g. PDF, etc.), audio (e.g. MP3, etc.) or video (e.g. AVI, etc.). Say, for example, I am only interested in the filename of the data source. Thus, I have the following table: DataSource Id (PK) Filename For each data source, I also need to store some of its attributes. Example for a PDF would be "numbe of pages." Example for audio would be "bit rate." Example for video would be "duration." Each DataSource will have different requirements for the attributes that need to be stored. So, I have modeled "data source attribute" this way: DataSourceAttribute Id (PK) DataSourceId (FK) Name Value Thus, I would have records like these: DataSource->Id = 1 DataSource->Filename = 'mydoc.pdf' DataSource->Id = 2 DataSource->Filename = 'mysong.mp3' DataSource->Id = 3 DataSource->Filename = 'myvideo.avi' DataSourceAttribute->Id = 1 DataSourceAttribute->DataSourceId = 1 DataSourceAttribute->Name = 'TotalPages' DataSourceAttribute->Value = '10' DataSourceAttribute->Id = 2 DataSourceAttribute->DataSourceId = 2 DataSourceAttribute->Name = 'BitRate' DataSourceAttribute->Value '16' DataSourceAttribute->Id = 3 DataSourceAttribute->DataSourceId = 3 DataSourceAttribute->Name = 'Duration' DataSourceAttribute->Value = '1:32' My problem is that this doesn't seem to scale. For example, say I need to query for all the PDF documents along with thier total number of pages: Filename, TotalPages 'mydoc.pdf', '10' 'myotherdoc.pdf', '23' ... The JOINs needed to produce the above result is just too costly. How should I address this problem?

  • Overlay SVG diagrams on google maps

    - by ThibThib
Hello I would like to add an overlay image on a google map. This image is a SVG file I have generated (python with svgfig). I am using the following code if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) { var map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("map_canvas")); map.setCenter(new GLatLng(48.8, 2.4), 12);     // ground overlay     var boundaries = new GLatLngBounds(new GLatLng(48.283188032632829, 1.9675270369830129), new GLatLng(49.187215000000002, 2.7771877478303999));     var oldmap = new GGroundOverlay("test.svg", boundaries); map.addControl(new GSmallMapControl()); map.addControl(new GMapTypeControl()); map.addOverlay(oldmap); } Surprisingly, it works with Safari 4, but it doesn't with Firefox (with Safari 3, the background is not transparent) Does anyone has an idea on how I could overlay a SVG ? Thanks PS1: I read some works like this or the source code of swa.ethz.ch/googlemaps, but it seems that they have to use javascript code to parse the SVG and add one by one all the elements (but I did not understood all the source...) PS2: The SVG is composed of different filled paths and circles, with transparency. If there is no solution to overlay my SVG, I can use 2 alternative solutions: rasterize the SVG convert the paths and circles in GPolygons But, I do not really like the 1st solution because of the poor quality of the bitmap and the time to generate it with antialiasing. And for the 2nd solutions, the arcs, ellipses and circles will have to be decomposed into small polylines. A lot of them will be necessary for a good result. But I have around 3000 arcs and circles to draw, so...

  • Adding Css class to all <input type'text'> elements? Javascript / Css?

    - by Kohan
I want to apply a CSS class to every textbox in my site: <div class="editor-label"> <label for="FoodType">FoodType</label> </div> <div class="editor-field"> <input id="HelpText" name="FoodType" type="text" value="" /> </div> <p> <input type="submit" value="Create" /> </p> And I thought, Hey! Easy. I'll add a jquery function to find them all in the masterpage. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('input').addClass('textbox'); } </script> Unfortunately this will also select the submit button. How can i only select input elements that have a text type attribute? Alternativly is this possible using entirely CSS? If both these methods are not possible, i guess i will just have to manually add the class to every textbox i make? Cheers, Kohan.

  • jQuery Validation plugin results in empty AJAX POST

    - by user305412
Hi, I have tried to solve this issue for at couple of days with no luck. I have a form, where I use the validation plugin, and when I try to submit it, it submits empty vars. Now, if I remove the validation, everything works fine. Here is my implementation: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#myForm").validate({ rules: { field1: { required: true, minlength: 5 }, field2: { required: true, minlength: 10 } }, messages: { field1: "this is required", field2: "this is required", }, errorLabelContainer: $("#validate_msg"), invalidHandler: function(e, validator) { var errors = validator.numberOfInvalids(); if (errors) { $("#validate_div").show(); } }, onkeyup: false, success: false, submitHandler: function(form) { doAjaxPost(form); } }); }); function doAjaxPost(form) { // do some stuff $(form).ajaxSubmit(); return false; } As I wrote this does not work when I have my validation, BUT if I remove that, and just add an onsubmit="doAjaxPost(this.form); return false"; to my HTML form, it works - any clue??? Now here is the funny thing, everything works as it should in Safari, but not in firefox 3.6.2 (Mac OS X)!

  • Netbeans (PHP) catching syntax error on xml declaration

    - by Mike Valeriano
Hello. I've just installed and configured Netbeans to work with PHP (including xdebug), and almost everything is working as intended, except that I've been getting "errors" in the IDE after I edited the default webpage template to comply with xhtml 1.1. The template is this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="${project.encoding}" ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=${project.encoding}" /> <title></title> </head> <body> </body> </html> These are the errors I receive (I can't post images yet). Page is created OK, character encoding is inherited from project's settings as expected. It's probably something to do with the xml declaration on top of the document, but I don't really know how to "tune" Netbeans to ignore it and not show the 3 errors on every page I create. The warning is there because NB does not recognize the xhtml 1.1 DTD, so it falls back to html 4.01, which does not support the xmlns attribute in the html tag - and that's the only thing I could find searching around. It will be fixed in the next version, so I'm not worried about it. I know there's nothing wrong with the markup, but there's probably something I'm missing in NB configuration, and I would like to get rid of those messages because they pretty much take all the space I reserve for errors/warnings/tasks. So is there any way I can either make NB recognize this xml declaration or make it ignore these specific "errors"? Thanks.

  • XSL Template - reducing replication

    - by Chris
Hey Sorry about the extremely vague question title (any suggestions for improvements welcome) I have an XSL document that, currently, has lots of replication that I want to reduce. Here is the following XML snippet I am working with <Unit Status="alive"> I am currently using the following XSL to show images based on the status of the Unit <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="@Status = 'alive'"> <img src="/web/resources/graphics/accept.png" /> </xsl:when> <xsl:when test="@Status = 'missingUnit'"> <img src="/web/resources/graphics/error.png" /> </xsl:when> <xsl:when test="@Status = 'missingNode'"> <img src="/web/resources/graphics/exclamation.png" /> </xsl:when> <xsl:when test="@Status = 'unexpectedUnit'"> <img src="/web/resources/graphics/exclamation_blue.png" /> </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <!-- Should never get here --> <img src="/web/resources/graphics/delete.png" /> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> How do I put this code in a template or stylesheet that will allow me to stop copying / pasting this everywhere. Thanks

  • Jquery if statement help

    - by mtwallet
    Hi. I want to know how to correctly write an if statement with jquery. I have a bunch of div's with an anchor in each that when clicked expands the the div's width using toggleClass. This works fine but I want to write an if statement that checks to see if the other div's have the same class applied, if so contract that div, then expand the next div (hope that makes sense), my code so far: HTML: <div class="content-block"> <h2>Title</h2> <p>Content...</p> <a class="expand" href="#">Expand View</a> </div> <div class="content-block"> <h2>Title</h2> <p>Content...</p> <a class="expand" href="#">Expand View</a> </div> <div class="content-block"> <h2>Title</h2> <p>Content...</p> <a class="expand" href="#">Expand View</a> </div> <div class="content-block"> <h2>Title</h2> <p>Content...</p> <a class="expand" href="#">Expand View</a> </div> JQUERY: $(document).ready(function(){ $('a.expand').click(function(){ $(this).parent('.content-block').toggleClass('wide'); }); });

  • Looking for detailed explanation of Hibernate UserType methods for mutable objects

    - by Tom
I am creating a custom UserType class in Hibernate. The specific case is for an HL7v3 clinical document (I work in health IT). It is a mutable object and most of the documentation around the Hibernate UserType interface seems to center around immutable types. I want a better understanding of how and when the interface methods are used, specifically: assemble - why two parameters (one Serializable, one Object)? What is the use case for this method? disassemble - should I just implement this method to return a serializable form (e.g. String representation)? When and how is this method invoked? equals - is this for update? read? contention? dirty reads? What are the consequences of simply returning false in most cases? replace - I really don't understand where the three Object parameters come from, when this method is invoked, and what Hibernate expects to return, or how that return value is used. Any pointers would be appreciated. I've searched and read all I can find on the subject, but have not found much documentation at all explaining how these methods are used for mutable objects.

  • Why is OCR(MODI.MiLANGUAGES.miLANG_ENGLISH, true, true) causing an OCR running error?

    - by Ian Wells
Hi folks, I am using MODI to read tiff images and do what I need to do with the text. Some images work fine and then other tiff images always cause the method, OCR(MODI.MiLANGUAGES.miLANG_ENGLISH, true, true) to fail. I have researched this and tried different variations such as 'false','false' in the parameter list. I have also tried SYSDEFAULT instead of English but I still get the error. Can anyone please tell me why it would fail on some tiff images and not on others? I have done some research and found this answer: One possible cause is MODI trying to process a file without any recognisable text. A blank document, or one which has only drawings/scribbles and is effectively blank, will cause this exception. Obviously this is not good enough as there is no way I can have an app that decides to OCR some images and not others. I handle the exception, but the OCR object is not then initalised so I can't do what I need to do from there. This is a bloody nightmare! Why can't the method just do it's bloody job and if the image has some unreadable pages then just ignore them? I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and Office 2007 Ultimate. Visual Studio version is 2008 Thanks, IW

  • How do I select the shallowest matching elements with XPath?

    - by harpo
Let's say I have this document. <a:Root> <a:A> <title><a:B/></title> <a:C> <item><a:D/></item> </a:C> </a:A> </a:Root> And I have an XmlNode set to the <a:A> element. If I say A.SelectNodes( "//a:*", namespaceManager ) I get B, C, and D. But I don't want D because it's nested in another "a:" element. If I say A.SelectNodes( "//a:*[not(ancestor::a:*)]", namespaceManager ) of course, I get nothing, since both A and its parent are in the "a" namespace. How can I select just B and C, that is, the shallowest children matching the namespace? Thanks. Note, this is XPath 1.0 (.NET 2), so I can't use in-scope-prefixes (which it appears would help).

  • .NET 4.0 Forms Authentication change?

    - by James Koch
I'm seeing some new behavior in Forms Authentication after upgrading to .NET 4.0. This occurs only on IIS 6, not on 7. Background - In web.config, we configure Forms Authentication, and then use <authorization tags to globally deny anonymous/unauthenticated users access. Then we explicitly allow access to a login.aspx page using a <location tag. Generally, this works fine, as it did when we were on .NET 2.0 (3.5). The issue only occurs when we visit the root path of the site, ie "http://myserver/". Our default document is configured in IIS to be login.aspx. Under .NET 4.0, upon visiting that URL, we're redirected to "http://myserver/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/". If you log in from here, you're logged in and returned back at the log in page (yuck). Just wanted to post this here to see if anyone else is experiencing this. It's not listed on any "breaking changes" documentation I've been able to find. Either I'm missing something, or the UrlAuthorization module has changed and is no longer "smart" about IIS default documents.

  • What's the scope of a Javascript variable declared in a for() loop?

    - by Dylan Beattie
    Check out the following snippet of HTML/Javascript code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> var alerts = []; for(var i = 0; i < 3; i++) { alerts.push(function() { document.write(i + ', '); }); } for (var j = 0; j < 3; j++) { (alerts[j])(); } for (var i = 0; i < 3; i++) { (alerts[i])(); } </script> </head><body></body></html> This outputs: 3, 3, 3, 0, 1, 2 which isn't what I was expecting - I was expecting the output 0, 1, 2, 0, 1, 2, I (incorrectly) assumed that the anonymous function being pushed into the array would behave as a closure, capturing the value of i that's assigned when the function is created - but it actually appears that i is behaving as a global variable. Can anyone explain what's happening to the scope of i in this code example, and why the anonymous function isn't capturing its value?

  • Are there any libraries for showing diffs between two web pages?

    - by Chad Johnson
I am looking for a library in any language--preferably PHP though--that will display the difference between two web pages. The differences can be displayed side-by-side, all in one document, or in any other creative way. Examples of what this would look like: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_pLC3YDiv_I4/SBZPYQMDsPI/AAAAAAAAADk/wUMxK307jXw/s1600-h/wikipediadiff.jpg http://www.rohland.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/html_diff_output_text.PNG I am NOT looking for raw code diffing, like this: http://thinkingphp.org/img/code_coverage_html_diff_view.png. I do NOT want to show the difference between two sets of HTML. I want to show differences in rendered, WYSIWYG form. Every solution I tried suffered from one or more of the following problems: If I change the attribute of an element (eg. change [table border="1"] to [table border="2"]), then I'll have an extra table tag in the output (eg. [table border="1"][table border="1"][tr][td]...). And, one table tag will have a del tag around it, while the other will have an ins tag around it, and that will obviously cause problems. If I change [html][body][b]some content here[/b][/body][/html] to [html][body][i]some other content here[/i][/body][/html] then it looks like [html][body][b][del]original[/del][i][ins]new[/ins] content here[/b][/i][/body][/html] I'm looking for out-of-the-box ideas. Any ideas are welcome.

  • CSS filters - sometimes working, sometimes not?

    - by a2h
    I'm on the verge of pulling my hair out over this. Here I have a block of perfectly functioning CSS: #admin .block.mode.off { opacity: 0.25; -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=25)"; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=25); } Meanwhile... Internet Explorer 8 couldn't care less about my filter declarations here: #admin .drop .tabs { margin-bottom: 12px; } #admin .drop .tab { margin-right: 4px; } #admin .drop .tab.off { cursor: pointer; opacity: 0.5; -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=50)"; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=50); } #admin .drop .tab.off:hover { text-shadow: 0px 0px 4px #fff; } #admin .drop .tab.on { cursor: default; text-shadow: 0px 0px 4px #fff; -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Glow(color=#fff, strength=4)"; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Glow(color=#fff, strength=4); } My document shows in IE8 Standards, and I am assuming the developer tools are a load of tuna, because the functioning block shows up in its CSS tab as: filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity=25); opacity: 0.25 Does anyone have any ideas?

  • iPad width in viewport settings overflowing past device width

    - by user1327771
I am at my wit's end here, and I beseech the fine folks here at stackoverflow for help. I am working on a design for a blog for a friend of mine, and I'm working in HTML5. I am trying to get the width of the page to span the width of an iPad. So, in my document head, I have the following: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0"> Now, if you go to the index page, on an iPad, it looks just fine. The width of the page spans the width of the iPad in portrait mode, as I expect it to: http://www.alanreuterart.com/femmegamers/index.html It also looks fine on any individual blog posts as well. However, on the "about" and "join" pages, the width does not do this. It's actually overflowing past the length of the iPad to the right. View the following page on an iPad to see what I mean: http://www.alanreuterart.com/femmegamers/about.html I've tried everything. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get it those two pages to correctly span the device width of the iPad. One important note, though: before anyone tells me to set my viewport width to 960, I cannot do that because the pages have media queries in them to convert to a mobile layout for the iPhone and other mobile phones. (I am not making a special unique layout for the iPad.) Can ANYONE help out here? Thanks in advance! —Me.

  • Is it legal to have different SOAP namespaces/versions between the request and response?

    - by Lord Torgamus
THIRD EDIT: I now believe that this problem is due to a SOAP version mismatch (1.1 request, 1.2 response) masquerading as a namespace problem. Is it illegal to mix versions, or just bad style? Am I completely out of luck if I can't change my SOAP version or the service's? SECOND EDIT: Clarified error message, and tried to reduce "tl;dr"-ness. EDIT: [Link deleted, not related] Using soapUI, I'm sending a request that starts with: <soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" ... and getting a response that starts with: <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope" ... I know the service is getting the info, because processes down the line are working. However, my soapUI teststep fails. It has two active assertions: "SOAP Response" and "Not SOAP Fault." The failure marker is next to "SOAP Response," with the following message: line -1: Element Envelope@http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope is not a valid Envelope@http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/ document or a valid substitution. I have tried mixing and matching the namespace prefixes and schema URLs. Changing prefixes seems to have no effect; changing URLs causes a VersionMismatch error. I have also tried to use a substitution group, but that doesn't seem to be legal.
