    The Windows 7 menu item highlight effect is quite subtle - on my machine, menu items go from light grey to having a light blue shading. This makes it quite hard to tell at a glance which exact menu item is highlighted at any one time. You can see an example (from Firefox) here: Is there an easy way to increase the contrast of the menu item highlight effect, without having to go all-out to an over the top high-contrast color scheme?

  • I disconnected my cellphone while transferring files to its Mini SD card. Now the files aren't there

    I use Ubuntu 9.10, and the MiniSD card shows as having the space used as if there were files. Baobab (the disk usage analyzer) shows that the card only has 118 MB used (of the 401 Ubuntu claims there are). Of course, I already tried the obvious (rebooting the phone, adding and removing files, etc.), but I don't want to format my card, because I still have some files on it, the transfer to my computer is slow, and because I use an old wire it fails often.

  • Changing terminal colors in Ubuntu Server

    I'd like to change the colors. The lime green hilighting on pale blue colored file names is killing my eyes. I'm not sure if I'm using xterm or gnome or whatever, but I would like to change the default color scheme (preferable to something less offensive to my corneas) and have it stay changed (update my user profile). Colors are nice, but sometimes it makes the text unreadable. I would settle for having no colors, standard B&W, if I can't have nice colors.

  • WinDirStat Save Report Option

    When running WinDirStat against a drive, I'd like the option to save the report so that I can look at it later while "offline" away from the system it was run on. I've looked around the program and can't see this option. Am I missing something, can this be done with WinDirStat? If it can't be done, is there a way similar to WinDirStat that will allow me to save the results of a drive space scan to delve into them at a later date?

The TextView is defined in layout xml file as <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/widget" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:orientation="vertical" > <TextView android:id="@+id/message" android:background="#ff99ff" android:text="Hello Widget" /> </LinearLayout> In update method, i have loaded the layout as RemoteViews remoteView=new RemoteViews(context.getPackageName(),R.layout.widget_message); To change the background of TextView i used the following statement remoteView.setInt(R.id.message, "setBackgroundResource", R.color.col_1); But i am getting a widget saying problem loading widget. If i remove the above line everything works fine. LogCat says: updateAppWidget couldn't find any view, using error view android.widget.RemoteViews$ActionException: view: android.widget.TextView can't use method with RemoteViews: setBackgroundResource(int)

  • Space in search base OU causes error in Active Directory

    Recently, while putting together some code to page Active Directory results beyond sizeLimit=1000, we ran into a strange behavior/bug of AD. Specifically, if we had an OU with a space in the search base, it caused an error: String base = "OU=Area X,OU=myserver,DC=my,DC=ad,DC=myserver,DC=com"; env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ldap://my.ad.myserver.com:389/" + base); This is the error we received: javax.naming.NamingException: [LDAP: error code 1 - 000020D6: SvcErr: DSID-031007DB, problem 5012 (DIR_ERROR), data 0 When we remove that OU, it works fine. What would cause this to occur? Do we need to encode the space somehow (+ and %20 only caused more issues)? Or is this generally illegal/unnecessary?

  • Getting fill color inside the itemrenderer in Adobe Flex

    Hi All, I am writing a custom item renderer to render a column series in my application. Its a stacked chart and i want to use the same item renderer for both the column series. The color for each series in the stack is different and am setting that in the 'fill' property of the two series. My doubt is how can i get the color specified in the fill property of the column series from the item renderer. if this works then i can very well use the same renderer for both series.     Chrome supports the placeholder attribute on input[type=text] elements (others probably do too). But the following CSS doesn't do diddly squat: <style> input[placeholder], [placeholder], *[placeholder] { color:red !important; } </style> <input type="text" placeholder="Value" /> "Value" will still be grey (er, gray. whatever) instead of red. Is there are way to change the color of the placeholder text? p.s. I'm already using the jQuery placeholder plugin for the browsers that don't support the placeholder attribute natively.

    Is there a simple way to set the background brush of all inactive tabs in a WPF TabControl? I want to emulate the look of VS 2010 on a TabControl--the background color of the control's inactive tabs should match the background color of the window in which the TabControl is sited, so that you see only the text of the tab, and not the tab itself. I know it will take a ControlTemplate to do it; I am trying to figure out what to put in the control template. Put another way, How do I specify that a particular brush should be applied to all inactive tabs? Thanks for your help.

This is the simple CSS line responsible of the background color of body: body { background: black; color: white; font-family: Chaparral Pro, lucida grande, verdana, sans-serif; } This is exactly how i get this problem. I click a link included in an gmail's email and i get: I refresh the page and the background is colored complete. Does ayone knows about this problem?

  • Make an iPhone InfoButton light/dark based on color behind it

    How do I detect what color is under the InfoButton... so I can change the button from DARK to LIGHT? I set my view's color... but how do I tell if it's "kind of light" or "kind of dark"? Besides... I can't change the info-button from light to dark anyway. (read only) Ugh. Shouldn't Apple have some kind of a simple "cmdButton.doThisExtremelyCommonThingForMe = TRUE" statement? InfoButtons are useless if you can't even see them. (Or how would I put an image behind the button to make it stand-out more?)

  • translation/rotation of a HUD against a camera using vectors in Euclidian 3D space

    i've got 2 points in 3D space: the camera position and the camera lookAt. the camera movement is restricted akin to typical first person shooter games. you can move the cam freely, tilt horizontally and up to 90 degrees vertically, but not roll. so now i want to draw a HUD to the screen, on which i can move the mouse freely, with the position of the cursor correctly translating into 3D space. the easy part was to draw something directly in front of the camera. V0 = camPos; V1 = lookAt; V2 = lookAt-camPos; normalize V2; mutiply V2 according to camera frustum V3 = V0+V2 draw something at V3 now the part i don't get: i could use V3 and add to that the rotations of the cam combined with the x/y of the mouse cursor, somehow, right? that's what i want.

    Situation: I am writing a program in C that maintains a number of threads. Once a thread ends, a new one is created. Each thread forks - the child runs a PHP process via exec() and the parent waits for it to finish. Each PHP process takes the next item from a queue, processes it and exits. Basic code: http://www.4pmp.com/2010/03/multitasking-php-in-parallel/ Problem: The PHP processes are Symfony tasks and Symfony requires a fairly huge amount of memory. How can I safely calculate the required stack space for each thread so that PHP processes will have enough memory? The memory limit set in php.ini is 128Mb so should I allocate this much space in the stack?

  • Jasper exported to Excel ignoring background color?

    Have you ever had alternating background colors in a Jasper report and then exported it to Excel? The Excel export seems to ignore the alternating color. I've got a Jasper report where the rows alternating background color using the procedure referenced HERE. When I preview it using the viewer or export to PDF it works -- but not when I export to Excel. I've tried using JRXlsExporter and JExcelApiExporter both to no avail. I think it might be a side-effect of how you have to make alternating row colors in Jasper, which I despise to begin with, but have found no other way. Thanks in advance!

  • Space-based architecture?

    One chapter in Pragmatic Programmer recommends looking at a blackboard/space-based architecture + a rules engine as a more flexible alternative to a traditional workflow system. The project I'm working on currently uses a workflow engine, but I'd like to evaluate alternatives. I really feel like a SBA would be a better solution to our business problems, but I'm worried about a total lack of community support/user base/venders/options. JavaSpaces is dead, and the JINI spin-off Apache River seems to be on life support. SemiSpace looks perfect, but it's a one-man show. The only viable solution seems to be GigaSpaces. I'd like to hear your thoughts on space based architecture and any experiences you've had with real world implementations.
