• Unload image of UIImageView thats offscreen

  Hi, I'm coding an application on Ipad, in a certain point of my application I present a ViewController with the presentModalViewController. My ViewController is a UISScrollView who take the larger of the modalView and inside it I display some images, I allow pagingEnabled so I can see all my images inside the scrollView. Sometimes I have to display more than 10 images inside the scrollView, so I have this error RECEIVE MEMORY WARNING LEVEL=1 after this one RECEIVE MEMORY WARNING LEVEL=2 and finnaly the debugger exited due to signal 10 (Sigbus). What can I do? is there a way to unload the image thats offscreen? or others things to do? Thanks,

• A control that contains multiple duplicate properties causing deadlock issues on IIS

  I am trying to work out if the above case is true for our site. I've been told by my hosting provider that this fix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974165) has to applied to our server due to performance issues. It basically describes an issues where UI code like: <asp:gridview id="GridView1" runat="server" ... PageSize="100" PagerSettings-Mode="Numeric" PagerStyle-BorderStyle="None" PagerStyle-BorderColor="Navy" PagerStyle-HorizontalAlign="Right" PagerSettings-PageButtonCount="2" PagerSettings-Position="Bottom"> <PagerStyle HorizontalAlign="Left" BorderColor="Navy" BorderStyle="None"></PagerStyle> ... <PagerSettings PageButtonCount="2"></PagerSettings> ... </asp:gridview> causing the following warning on the server "ISAPI 'C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll' reported itself as unhealthy for the following reason: 'Deadlock detected'." Does anybody know of a way that I can detect this issue in the build process or the debugger? Any help would be much appreciate.

• Project in Eclipse that builds a jar used by another project in Eclipse

  I have several projects open in Eclipse. One of them is the main app, and others build jars used by that main app. How do I make it so that when I hit F3 on a method call in the main app that it takes me to the source in the other project instead of taking me to the class file in the Libraries list? I got it so that it shows me the source, but I can't actually edit it like it could if I go to the other project, and similarly when I step through in the debugger it doesn't go into the editable code. I don't know if it's relevant, but we're using Maven to handle the dependencies. I know this should be simple, but I haven't found the option.

• Visual Studio 2008 macro only works from the Macro IDE, not the Macro Explorer

  Edit: Creating a new module in the same VSMacros project fixed the problem. The following macro only works if I open the Macro IDE from Visual Studio and run the macro from there. It'd be much more useful if I could just right click the macro from the Macro Explorer from my Visual Studio instance. I must be doing something obviously wrong, but I've never worked with VS macros before. The MessageBox does not appear in either case. • ruby-debug19: Can't get working with Ruby 1.9.1p376

  Hello, I'm trying to use ruby-debug19 with Ruby 1.9.1p376 but am getting the following error: test.rb:2:in `require': no such file to load -- ruby-debug19 (LoadError) from test.rb:2:in `<main>' Here's test.rb: require 'rubygems' require 'ruby-debug19' Here's the output of "gem list": *** LOCAL GEMS *** ruby-debug19 (0.11.6) (etc.) So running "ruby test.rb" generates the above error. Am I doing this wrong? I thought this was the correct way to run ruby-debug19 (by including the gem and adding "debugger" statements) and haven't been able to find any articles/posts with the same problem. I am using RVM but the above output is all under the same version of Ruby ("ruby -v" shows 1.9.1p376 as expected, and the gem list output is specific to that version and not the OS X system-installed version 1.8.7).

• windbg/cdb hangs when bp hit

  I have a problem where cdb or windbg hangs frequently, but not all the time, when I'm debugging with it and I attach to a specific application on my machine. I found this article: http://www.nynaeve.net/?p=164 which talks about a symbol loading race condition being the problem, but I can force load the symbols, actually have a breakpoint in-app work, and still have it hang elsewhere. Here is the stack from cdb itself when I attach to it with another debugger: ntdll!NtReadFile kernel32!ReadFile cdb!ReadNonConLine cdb!ConIn cdb!MainLoop cdb!main !analyze reports that APPLICATION_HANG_BusyHang is the problem bucket, and 'ReadNonConLine' is the offending function. as far as the stack goes: ffffffff`fffffffe 00000000`00000000 00000001`3f641498 00000000`0014ea50 : kernel32!ReadFile+0x86 00000000`000002a4 00000000`0014ebb0 00000000`00001000 00000000`00000000 : cdb!ReadNonConLine+0x6d ReadNonConLine has the string "g" at 0014ebb0 passed as a param, which may be part of the command I had at the hanging breakpoint (it was something like bp foo "dt a; g") ReadFile takes a handle as its first parameter. • Unexpected behavior with AudioQueueServices callback while recording audio

  I'm recording a continuous stream of data using AudioQueueServices. It is my understanding that the callback will only be called when the buffer fills with data. In practice, the first callback has a full buffer, the 2nd callback is 3/4 full, the 3rd callback is full, the 4th is 3/4 full, and so on. These buffers are 8000 packets (recording 8khz audio) - so I should be getting back 1s of audio to the callback each time. I've confirmed that my audio queue buffer size is correct (and is somewhat confirmed by the behavior). What am I doing wrong? Should I be doing something in the AudioQueueNewInput with a different RunLoop? I tried but this didn't seem to make a difference... By the way, if I run in the debugger, each callback is full with 8000 samples - making me think this is a threading / timing thing.

• Dynamicdata Validation Exception Message Caught in JavaScript, not DynamicValidator

  I have a page here with a few list views on it that are all bound to Linq data sources and they seem to be working just fine. I want to add validation such that when a checkbox (IsVoid on the object) is checked, comments must be entered (VoidedComments on the object). • Raphael js library: problems with animateAlong in IE7

  Hi there, I'm having trouble making a simple shape move along a path in IE7 (the only version of IE I tried, actually). The following code works fine in chrome and firefox, but not IE. I couldn't find an obvious reason, has anybody seen something similar? canvas.path(rPath.path).attr("stroke", "blue"); var circle = canvas.circle(rPath.startX, rPath.startY, 5); circle.animateAlong(rPath.path, 3000, true); My rPath variable has the path and the starting point coordinates. Microsoft script debugger points to this line as the one where the code breaks: os.left != (t = x - left + "px") && (os.left = t); (line 2131 inside the uncompressed raphael.js script file, inside Element[proto].setBox = function (params, cx, cy) {...}) Any ideas? • How to tell if a datareader is open on a connection and close it

  Hi, I'm setting up a little thing for connection pooling and on of the more common bugs that we have occur(its always an easy fix, but we just can't remember reader.Close()!) it is when we have a connection that is used by a lot of classes/methods and one method opens a data reader and forgets to close it. This isn't really bad cause a lot of times all you have to do is go into the debugger and go up one level and see the function before it was and check if it had an unclosed data reader. Now, here is the bigger problem. In this connection pool, if a datareader is open, then it's not known until a thread gets a connection and tries to use it and the thing that originally opened the data reader may no longer even be alive. So quite simply, how can you detect if a data reader is open on a connection and is there a way to close the reader without closing the connection?

  Hi, all. I've been having a tough time entering input with gdb using XCode or Eclipse. Every time the debugger hits std::cin, it looks like its waiting for input, but fails to accept it. I've scoured the internet for more information, but am having trouble finding anything. What do I need to do to get cin to work with gdb? For reference, I'm using XCode 3.2.2 and Eclipse Galileo. • C++ debugging help for C# programmer

  I'm embarrassed to post this but it's been awhile since I worked in C++, been with C# for awhile. I'm converting old (not written by me) vs2003 and 05 C++ code to vs 08. In addition to lots of lumps during conversion, I want to add debug logging so I can monitor what is going on when I attach with windbg. I've searched the archives here and ms and I think it's using Debugger.Log(...) but not sure. I also remember years ago launching a debug monitor to catch the logging. So the call to some experts that have a better memory than I. What call(s) can I make (without the DEBUG compile directive - need to watch release code) to catch the logging in wind bag? I followed a couple of debugging links from SO posts but they were dead. Thanx - Old Man.

• UILabel not updating

• Where should I put my breakpoint to check XML Response string from a web service?

  Hi, You know, once you add a web reference to a webservice a wrapper code is generated by Visuel Studio. I was wondering if there is a method (or property) which is generated by Visual Studio whatever web service you add to your project so that I can put a breakpoint there and once the debugger stops there, I can simply read the response from web-service in an xml format (or should I say, soap). I don't want to use fiddler or a tool like that. Is it possible? Does such a place exist in the webservice wrapper code for all the added webservice Thank you, burak ozdogan

• STM32 I2C1 Start bit not set on SR1 register

  Hi guys, I am trying to program the stm32 to talk to my i2c EEprom, but it seems like everytime I say: I2C_GenerateSTART(I2C1, ENABLE); while( !(I2C_CheckEvent(I2C1, I2C_EVENT_MASTER_MODE_SELECT)) ); the code hangs here I went through with the debugger and I found that the SR1 bit 0 flag (which is the start bit generated flag) is not set which is why the code hangs. I can see in the oscilloscope that the start bit was generated and this works sometimes. it usually breaks when I tried to do several writes in a row. I checked the HW is everything looks fine I checked the frequency that I am running on the i2c bus it is 100Khz well within the 24lc1025 eeprom. any ideas, thanks

  How do I add errors to the top of a form after I cleaned the data? I have an object that needs to make a REST call to an external app (google maps) as a pre-save condition, and this can fail, which means I need my users to correct the data in the form. • Why does calling glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION) give me EXC_BAD_ACCESS in an iPhone app?

  I have an iphone app where I call these three functions in appDidFinishLaunching: glMatrixMode(GL_PROJECTION); glOrthof(0, rect.size.width, 0, rect.size.height, -1, 1); glMatrixMode(GL_MODELVIEW); When stepping through with the debugger I get EXC BAD ACCESS when I execute the first line. Any ideas why this is happening? Btw I have another application where I do the same thing and it works fine. So I've tried to duplicate everything in that app (#imports, adding OpenGLES framework, etc) but now I'm just stuck.

  Hi, I have a button in a view which refuses to work. I've got in working in a blank, default view application from X-Code, but in none of my applications will it work, instead it gives me the following error. Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[UIViewController showVicInfo:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x3c084f0' The debugger isn't any help either. I've made sure that I hook up the button to the file's owner (not the other way around) as well. Below is the code for the action. • Debugging Objective C JNI code

  Here is the situation: I have a client's java project open in eclipse. It uses a JNI library created by an Xcode Objective C project. Is there any good way for me to debug the C code from eclipse when I execute the Java code? Obviously eclipse's default debugger cannot step into the jni library file and we lose the thread (thread meaning investigative thread here, not programming thread). Any advice or input is appreciated as the code base is large enough that following the client's code will be radically faster than other options. Thanks. EDIT: It should be noted that the reason that the jni library is written in Objective-C is because it is integrating with Mac OSX. It is using the Cocoa framework to integrate with the Apple speech api.

• Is there a way to make sure a background process spawned by my program is killed when my process ter

  Basically the child process runs indefinitely until killed in the background, and I want to clean it up when my program terminates for any reason, i.e. via the Taskmanager. Currently I have a while (Process.GetProcessesByName("ParentProcess").Count() 0) loop and exit if the parent process isn't running, but it seems pretty brittle, and if I wanted it to work under debugger in Visual Studio I'd have to add "ParentProcess.vshost" or something. Is there any way to make sure that the child process end without requiring the child process to know about the parent process? I'd prefer a solution in managed code, but if there isn't one I can PInvoke. Edit: Passing the PID seems like a more robust solution, but for curiosity's sake, what if the child process was not my code but some exe that I have no control over? Is there a way to safeguard against possibly creating orphaned child processes?

• dismissModalViewControllerAnimated: crashes in Simulator but not on phone

  I'm doing the following: [self.parentViewController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES] This code fails using the Simulator but works with no issues on the phone itself. The Simulator's console shows no erros. I used NSLog statements to pinpoint this line of code as the culprit. When running on the phone, however, the console(windoworganizer) shows that the above code is executed and the application proceeds forward with no problem. When running the code in debugger, the following statement appears at the bottom of the Xcode debug window: GDB: Data Formatters temporarily unavailable, will re-try after a 'continue'. (Not safe to call dlopen at this time.) Then a window dispalys stating: Loading 43672 stack frames. (that sounds bad) In the debug window the following line appears numerous times: [UIView(Hierarchy) _makeSubtreePerformSelector:withObject:withObject:copySublayers:] Without getting too deep into my code, does anyone know about or have experience with this type of condition? • Cannot Debug Visual Basic 6 ActiveX Component On 64-bit OS

  Hi, The situation might sound a bit weird but I have to play with what I have. There's a Win2003 64-bit server OS and a legacy application written using Visual Studio 6. The app consists of two parts: ActiveX components written in VB6 and C++ code which uses them. I need to debug the components' code. I installed Visual Studio 6 on the server and I'm able to step into the component's code. Then I got following situation: 1) C++ code works until it needs to instantiate component A. 2) At this step we switch to VB6 and start debugging Component's A. 3) In the very beginning component A creates an instance of a class C exposed by component B. At this step VB6 debugger shows error message with title "OLEDB32.DLL" and following text: "Failed to load resource DLL C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System\Ole DB\OLEDB32R.DLL" Additional information: The last step in initialization of the class C is opening an ADO connection to SQL server using OLEDB provider. I'd appreciate any ideas on how resolve this problem. Thanks in advance.
