  Consider compounds of two nouns, which in natural English would most often appear in the form "noun of noun", e.g. "direction of light", "output of a filter". When programming we usually write "LightDirection" and "FilterOutput". Now, I have a problem with plural nouns. There are two cases: 1) singular of plural e.g. "union of (two) sets", "intersection of (two) segments" Which is correct, SetUnion and SegmentIntersection or SetsUnion and SegmentsIntersection? 2) plural of plural There are two subcases: (a) Many elements, each having many related elements, e.g. "outputs of filters" (b) Many elements, each having single related element, e.g. "directions of vectors" Shell I use FilterOutputs and VectorDirections or FiltersOutputs and VectorsDirections? I suspect correct is the first version (FilterOutupts, VectorDirections), but I think it may lead to ambiguities, e.g. FilterOutputs - many outputs of a single filter or many outputs of many filters? LineSegmentProjections - projections of many segments or many projections of a single segment?

  suppose, I use Tomcat as a web container. Is it true that once all the servlets found in a web-app/WEBAPPNAME are init(IALIZED) then every change of a Servlet's property will be seen to every session. So session 1 changes a property userName of a Servlet1 from "user1" to "user2" session 1 is closed. session 2 starts. It will see "user2" as the only value of Servlet1.userName property?? Any change of a Servlet's field will be seen to all subsequent sessions? Are servlets singletons, aren't they?

• JQuery Remove() doesn't work

  I have a DIV element inside another as follows: <div id="filters"> <div class="filterData">hello</div> </div> and I'm trying to remove the element: $("#filters").remove('.filterData'); Problem is, it doesn't. I've tested on other elements on my page and it works. The thing is, I cannot append to it, show or hide it, use .empty. I've also changed it to be a DIV with 'filterData' as the ID and told JQuery to remove it but it refuses to... Has anyone had a stuborn element like this before? EDIT: I'm also trying to remove it inside a $(document).ready function so I have no idea.

• How can I get an image too big from a server?

  I'm currenty developing for blackberry and just bumped into this problem as i was trying to download an image from a server. The servlet which the device communicates with is working correctly, as I have made a number of tests for it. But it gives me the 413 HTTP error ("Request entity too large"). I figure i will just get the bytes, uhm, portion by portion. How can i accomplish this?   I'm working on a search component for an app I'm working on and I needed to add some filters to it. I've found an example and got the first filter working fine. Now I'm trying to add a second filter I'm running into problems... In the example I found they use filterFunctions, but I only get an option for filterFunction, why is that? Here's the example code productsCollection.filterFunctions = [ filterByPrice, filterByType, filterByCondition, filterByVendor ] And this is what I'm trying acData.filterFunction = [filterByStatus, filterByDate] but with this code I get the following error message - 1067: Implicit coercion of a value of type Array to an unrelated type Function. Why am I getting this error and how would I go about add multiple filters to my Array Collection? Thanks!

• Google app engine sessions now supported???

  Hi, I thought google app engine did not support sessions (last time I checked was a few months ago). Now I was searching again for it and saw this: http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/java/config/appconfig.html#Enabling_Sessions says it supports: javax.servlet.http.HttpSession does this mean we have servlet session support now? If so, does anyone have an example of using this? I wanted to create my own User class and support user login and session management (I know app engine already supports this for google users, but wanted my own users for various requirements) Thanks!

• Is there a reference document for OOTB SharePoint web part interfaces?

  I want my web parts to act as providers and consumers with OOTB SharePoint web parts, including filters. To design these web parts I need to know the interface of the OOTB web parts, eg. a "Links" web part provides an IWebPartRow, with a Type, URL and Notes. I can get the information by: a web part programmed to interact generically, and display the data it receives putting the web parts on a page, and look at the available connections inspecting the DLL's (haven't tried this, because I can't find the DLL's, but I guess it's possible) It seems strange to me that there is no documentation of these interfaces. Is there a Microsoft document, or a book, which documents the OOTB web parts and filters?

• receiving OPTIONS instead of GET requests?

  Hi, all I want to achieve is to implement a servlet providing a json feed for my fullcalendar application. When I inspect http://arshaw.com/js/fullcalendar/examples/json.html with Bugzilla, I see that GET-requests are sent to receive the json feed. However, when I use this example within my scenario, fullcalendar seems to send OPTIONS-requests. The only difference is that I replaced "events: "json-events.php" with "http://localhost:8080/CalendarServletTest/HelloWorldServlet" (the url of my servlet). What do I miss? or is this really a bug?

  I'm using OpenOffice to convert documents to pdf/xls; Main system where usually is running Openoffice is Linux; There(in openoffice) is such thing as XML filters; A have package of those filters and usually to import this package I using(from launched openoffice): Tools-XML Filter settings -open package; It's like little converting server, but there is one problem - system needs X server to be running; So is there a way to import this XML filter package to Openoffice(or Libre office) from command line?

I'm trying to write a function where any time a checkbox is selected, it generates a string with all the names concatenated.   Does anyone know if exists any official or most accepted reference for Angular naming conventions to use when we build our applications? Angular has a lot of different type of components such as filters, directives, services and so on. Wouldn't you agree that having a reference naming convention when we implement them in our applications will make sense? For example: If we need to create new filters how should we name them like [Something]Filter or filter[Something] or something else? And same applies for Controllers, Services, Directives and so on. Other things I wonder about is if variables/functions that belongs to the scope should have an special prefix or suffix. In some situations it may be useful to have a way to differentiate them from functions and other (none angular code).

  Hey All, I'm new to JSF and am trying to make a content controller. Basically whenever someone makes a request to www.myapp.com/external/** I'd like to forward to a controller that pulls external content into a page template and spits it out to the user. I was able to achive this pretty easily in Spring 3, but I'm a little confused on where to start with JSF. I feel like I'd need to create a custom servlet to handle /external/**? But what would the class of this servlet be? What would it consist of? Any help is appreciated!

  What is the most efficient way to pass data (list of pairs of [Integer, Double]) between two Google App Engine instances ? Currently I use Java binary serialization. Frontend servlet receives data from the client in JSON format. I convert it to byte[] using ObjectOutput.writeObject and then send it to backend servlet via HTTP POST. It's not in production yet. Should I just pass client's JSON as it is to backend? It seems more logical. But it's bigger in size. Or should I use Google Protocol Buffers as stated in this benchmark article ? Thank you!!!

  I have a couple questions about glTexParameter and filtering 1) What is the scope when applying a glTexParameter (specifically the filtering)? Here's a scenario: Bind a texture. Set the filters to LINEAR Set the texture to "Sampler1" of a shader Bind another texture. Set its filters to NEAREST Set that texture to "Sampler2" of a shader Draw When I use the textures in a shader, will one be linear and the other be nearest? Or will they both be nearest because it was called last? 2) Is it possible to set the filtering method in GLSL? Thanks in advance!

• How do you send an array as part of an (jquery) ajax request

  I tried to send an array as part of an ajax request like this: var query = []; // in between I add some values to 'query' $.ajax({ url: "MyServlet", data: query, dataType: "json", success: function(noOfResults) { alert(noOfResults); } }); } I wanted to see what I get back in the servlet, so I used this line: System.out.println(request.getParameterMap().toString()); Which returned {} suggesting an empty map. Firebug tells me I am getting a 400 bad request error If I send a queryString like attribute=value as the 'data' then everything works fine, so it has to do with not being able to send an array as is. What do I have to do to get that data into the servlet for further processing. I don't want to pull it out and turn it into a queryString in the JS if I can avoid it. EDIT: I used the .serializeArray() (jQuery) function before sending the data. I don't get the 400 but nothing useful is being sent through.
