• how to get jquery.couch.app.js to work with IE8

  I have tested this on Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 Ultimate in IE7 and IE8 (in all compatiblity modes) and it fails the same way on both. I am running the latest HEAD from the the couchapp repository. This works fine on my OSX 10.6.3 development machine. I have tested with Chrome 4.1.249.1064 (45376) and Firefox 3.6 and they both work fine.   I have created a Django project in local which runs without any kind of problem. • Bind WCF webservice to specific network interface / IP

  On a machine with multiple network cards I need to bind a WCF webservice to a specific network interface. It seems that the default is to bind on all network interfaces. The machine has two network adapters with the IPs 192.168.0.10 and 192.168.0.11. I have an Apache running that binds on 192.168.0.10:80 and need to run the webservice on 192.168.0.11:80. (Due to external circumstances I cannot choose another port.) I tried the following: string endpoint = "http://192.168.0.11:80/SOAP"; ServiceHost = new ServiceHost(typeof(TService), new Uri(endpoint)); ServiceHost.AddServiceEndpoint(typeof(TContract), Binding, ""); // or: ServiceHost.AddServiceEndpoint(typeof(TContract), Binding, endpoint); But it doesn't work; netstat -ano -p tcp always shows the webservice listening on 0.0.0.0:80, which is all interfaces (if I got that correct). When I start Apache first, it correctly binds to the other interface, which in turn prevents the WCF service to bind to "all". Any ideas?

  Hi, I need to encode a video from image. I use ffmpeg and compiling rigth. My problem is that when i try to opne video with quicktime on iphone, this give me a message "this movie format is not supported". • Decoding a jpg in the background in WP7

  I have a bunch of apps in the marketplace, and so far I have been able, by changing my functionality or going the extra mile, to work around the issue of being unable to decode a jpg in the background into a WriteableBitmap. I am finding a situation where I can't think of good ways to "work around" the issue. I need to decode the image I get from MediaLibrary, reduce it's resolution to something managable (800x800), rotate it potentially and save to local storage. By far, the thing that takes the most time (80%) is decoding the bitmap to 800x800 - it takes between 700ms to 1000 ms. A user may add 7-10 images when starting, which translates to ~10 seconds of waiting for the images being added. I tried doing this lazily, but at some point you need to pay the piper and the app essentially stutters for ~1000ms at that point and the experience is not great. Is there an alternative I am missing for loading the image in the background somehow? (Note on why CreateOptions.BackgroundCreation is no good for me: It loads the image into a BitmapImage which is great if you want to just use it, but not so great for what I need to do which is create a copy in Isolated Storage).

• MySql: Query multiple identical dynamic tables.

  I have a database with 500+ tables, each with identical structure, that contain historical data from sensors. I am trying to come up with a query that will locate, for example, all instances where sensor n exceeds x. The problem is that the tables are dynamic, the query must be able to dynamically obtain the list of tables. I can query information_schema.tables to get a list of the tables, like so: SELECT table_name FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_schema = 'database_name'; I can use this to create a loop in the program and then query the database repeatedly, however it seems like there should be a way to have MySql do the multiple table search. I have not been able to make a stored procedure that works, but the examples I can find are generally for searching for a string in any column. I want to specifically find data in a specific column that exists in all tables. I admit I do not understand how to properly use stored procedures nor if they are the appropriate solution to this problem. An example query inside the loop would be: SELECT device_name, sensor_value FROM device_table WHERE sensor_value > 10; Trying the following does not work: SELECT device_name, sensor_value FROM ( SELECT table_name FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_schema = 'database_name' ) WHERE sensor_value > 10; It results in an error: "Every derived table must have its own alias." The goal is to have a list of all devices that have had a given sensor value occur anywhere in their log (table). Ultimately, should I just loop in my program once I've obtained a list of tables, or is there a query structure that would be more efficient?

• Browsers disagree about the text of a body element

However, in Chrome it's 11 because it thinks there's a linefeed after the '9'. In IE it's also 11, but the last character is an escape. Meanwhile, Opera thinks there are 12 characters, with the last two being CR LF. If I change the body element to include a span: <body onload="init()"><span>0123456789</span></body> and the jQuery call to: var text = jQuery('body span').text(); then all the browsers agree that the length is 10. Clearly it's the body element that's causing the issue, but can anyone explain exactly why this is happening? I'm particularly surprised because the excellent jQuery is normally browser-independent.

  I have XAMPP 1.7.3 installed on Windows 7. The PHP version is 5.3.1. I have successfully installed memcache for win32 from http://www.splinedancer.com/memcached-win32. I got PHP extension php_memcache.dll from http://downloads.php.net/pierre. Restarting apache and checking phpinfo() shows memcache is OK. When I test it with below PHP page. • Truly declarative language?

  Hi all, Does anyone know of a truly declarative language? The behaviour I'm looking for is kind of what Excel does, where I can define variables and formulas, and have the formula's result change when the input changes (without having set the answer again myself) The behaviour I'm looking for is best shown with this pseudo code: X = 10 // define and assign two variables Y = 20; Z = X + Y // declare a formula that uses these two variables X = 50 // change one of the input variables ?Z // asking for Z should now give 70 (50 + 20) I've tried this in a lot of languages like F#, python, matlab etc, but every time i try this they come up with 30 instead of 70. Wich is correct from an imperative point of view, but i'm looking for a more declerative behaviour if you know what i mean. And this is just a very simple calculation. When things get more difficult it should handle stuff like recursion and memoization automagically. The code below would obviously work in C# but it's just so much code for the job, i'm looking for something a bit more to the point without all that 'technical noise' class BlaBla{ public int X {get;set;} // this used to be even worse before 3.0 public int Y {get;set;} public int Z {get{return X + Y;}} } static void main(){ BlaBla bla = new BlaBla(); bla.X = 10; bla.Y = 20; // can't define anything here bla.X = 50; // bit pointless here but I'll do it anyway. • UIButton and UIControlEventState issue

  I'm having a very specific "bug" in my iPhone application. I'm setting two images for the highlighted and normal states of a button. It works as expected when you "press" and then "touch up" at a slow pace, but if you click/tap it quickly, there's a noticeable flicker between states. Is this a known bug or am I setting the states incorrectly?   I have a question about the values returned by getPosition. Below is my code. This is what the MATLAB documentation says, but since the image is 576*120 (as displayed in the window) this is not logical. It seemed to me like, somehow, getPosition returns the y coordinate first.   My goal is to print labels with barcodes and a date stamp from an entry to a zebra TLP 2844 when the user clicks the ok button/hits enter. i found what i think might be the code for this from zebras site and have been integrating it into my program but part of it is depreciated and i cant quite figure out how to update it. below is what i have so far. • Getting Hprof dump for other processes from application code

  Hi, In my application , i have an option to capture the hprof dump. I used android.os.Debug.dumpHprofData (String fileName) Initially i though the hprof data generated by the method above is for the entire device , which is not so . The hprof data generated is only for my process. Now i am trying to generate hprof data for other process as well. I need to get the Hprof dump for all the running processes from application code. from adb shell i tried "kill -10 " , This command will generate the hprof file for the corresponding process in the data/misc folder. Now the problem is this command is working perfectly from the adb shell prompt , but i am not able to embed the command to mycode. My code is like Runtime.getRuntime().exec("chmod 777 /data/misc") Runtime.getRunTime().exec("kill -10 ") No exceptions are thrown , but somehow it is not working. The same code above is capturing Hprof dump for my process, when i give my process ID. I tried with "android.os.Process.sendSignal (int pid, android.os.Process.SIGNAL_USR1) ;" also.Getting the same problem.It is capturing Hprof dump for my process. For other processes it is not working. Do we need to have any special permission to kill other process from our process ? Or is it a built issue ? can you please suggest some possible way to get Hprof dump for other processes from application code? Thanks

I'm connecting to the network through WiFi. It works, I can access the internet through my phone and I've configured my router. The application stops when I'm trying to connect. I tried: Add stored procedure to m_Entities, but it returns IEnumerable<> and executes sp immediately: var globbalyFilteredSomeEntities = from se in m_Entities.SomeEntitiyStoredProcedure(1234); Materialize query using EFExtensions library, but it is IEnumerable<>. • URL shortening: using inode as short name?

  The site I am working on wants to generate its own shortened URLs rather than rely on a third party like tinyurl or bit.ly. Obviously I could keep a running count new URLs as they are added to the site and use that to generate the short URLs. But I am trying to avoid that if possible since it seems like a lot of work just to make this one thing work. As the things that need short URLs are all real physical files on the webserver my current solution is to use their inode numbers as those are already generated for me ready to use and guaranteed to be unique. function short_name($file) { $ino = @fileinode($file); $s = base_convert($ino, 10, 36); return $s; } This seems to work. Question is, what can I do to make the short URL even shorter? On the system where this is being used, the inodes for newly added files are in a range that makes the function above return a string 7 characters long. Can I safely throw away some (half?) of the bits of the inode? And if so, should it be the high bits or the low bits? I thought of using the crc32 of the filename, but that actually makes my short names longer than using the inode. Would something like this have any risk of collisions?   I'm making a general timer that has functionality to count up from 0 or count down from a certain number. I also want it to allow the user to add and subtract time. Everything is simple to implement except for the case in which the timer is counting down from some number, and the user adds or subtracts time from it. After 10 seconds, the above function would look like 100 -= 100 - 100 + 10 which equals 90. If it was called after 20 more seconds it would look like 90 -= 90 - 100 + 30 which equals 70. This works for normal counting, but if the user calls AddTime() ( just m_elapsedTime += arg ) then the algorithm for backwards counting fails miserably. I know that I can do this using more members and keeping track of previous times, etc. but I'm wondering whether I'm missing some implementation that is extremely obvious. I'd prefer to keep it as simple as possible in that single operation.

  I have a Rails + Apache2 + Postgres + Passenger application running in production mode in OSX Snow Leopard. The application serves as a data warehouse for another application in the cloud so I'm constantly getting API calls to my OSX production build. • Building a TriggerField with PopUp Window

I built a triggerField and when i press at it, i want to have a popup, that is appended to the button in the triggerfield(so when i click anywhere else it shall disappear and it shall pop out up to the button when i click at the button just like a datepicker-popup) I somehow managed to do something like that with an Ext.window but the offset and postion doesnt match.
