• Packaging multiple rpms in one file

  Hi, Is it possible to paqckage multiple rpms into one file. I have got two bundles one of which requires that the other be installed. I would like to create a single installable out of them in such a way that this installer will first invoke pkg 1 and then install pkg 2. Is this possible? What about deb packages? Sorry if it a basic question. I have not worked with installers on Linux before. I have created Windows installers. There you can create two merge modules (.msm) and package them into a standalone installer (.msi) and specify the order of execution. I am looking for similar functionality on Linux.

• Rails gives wrong headers after upgrade 2.3.5 -> 2.3.8

  I just upgraded from rails 2.3.5 to rails 2.3.8, but now my redirects are not working properly. I get the following as the response HTTP Headers: HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily Date: Wed, 02 Jun 2010 09:40:39 GMT Content-Length: 93 Content-Type: text/html whereas I got previous: HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily Connection: close Date: Wed, 02 Jun 2010 09:41:18 GMT Set-Cookie: _session_id=<correct id>; path=/ Status: 302 Found Location: <correct url> Cache-Control: no-cache Server: Mongrel 1.1.5 Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Content-Length: 93 Anyone knows how to fix this? Despite the fact that the redirect is not working, the login-cookie is not set too (but I think, this is both related somehow). I have already tried to override redirect_to in order to set response.headers['Location'] etc., but they did not appear in the response.

• C read part of file into cache

  I have to do a program (for Linux) where there's an extremely large index file and I have to search and interpret the data from the file. Now the catch is, I'm only allowed to have x-bytes of the file cached at any time (determined by argument) so I have to remove certain data from the cache if it's not what I'm looking for. If my understanding is correct, fopen (r) doesn't put anything in the cache, only when I call getc or fread(specifying size) does it get cached. So my question is, lets say I use fread and read 100 bytes but after checking it, only 20 of the 100 bytes contains the data I need; how would I remove the useless 80 bytes from cache (or overwrite it) in order to read more from the file.

• send commands to a backgrounded jobs stdin

  I have a java server application that, when its running, you can interact with it sending commands via stdin. I want to write a web interface that can send these commands to it. In order to do that I need some way of getting commands from php to the stdin for this backgrounded job. Is there a way to do this from console? or possibly write some kind of wrapper that controls the server job and can access its stdin ? could this be done in python?

• WPF: Menu items and combo boxes don't render in Windows 7 64-bit

  I'm trying to use an existing internal WPF application (I do have access to the source), but it was developed on XP and I'm using Windows7 64-bit. When I click (for instance) the File menu, 90% of the time I see no drop-down menu at all. The menu still exists - I can use the arrow keys to navigate up and down and choose an option if I happen to know the order of the options, but nothing renders at all. The other 10% of the time, the menu or some portion of it DOES render, but as I move the cursor up and down I get graphical corruption or disappearing options until I end up back at the "no menu is visible at all" state. This is also true of combo boxes within the application - they show no data when I drop them down, but I can arrow down and choose an entry. Microsoft has some advice about WPF rendering issues here but none of these steps has helped with my issue.

• PHP PDO - bindValue PARAM_BOOL as string

  I'm freaking out here and can't figure out what's wrong. I'm pretty new to PDO, but everything works in my code except for booleans which are sent as strings. My code (simplified): $sql = 'SELECT * FROM pages WHERE clean_url_slo = :clean_url_slo AND published = :published LIMIT 1'; $clean_url_slo = 'home'; $published = true; Then I prepare stuff and execute it like this (simplified): $stmt = $db->prepare($sql); $stmt->bindValue(':clean_url_slo',$clean_url_slo,PDO::PARAM_STR); $stmt->bindValue(':published',$published,PDO::PARAM_BOOL); $stmt->execute(); And then here is what comes to mysql (from the mysql log - the query mysql received): 91 Query SELECT * FROM pages WHERE 1=1 AND clean_url_slo='domov' AND published='1' ORDER BY id desc LIMIT 1 As you can see, published is an integer - so always true, which is not OK. Why is that if I'm declaring it as a boolean? using: WAMP SERVER PHP version: 5.3.9 Mysql: 5.5.20 Many thanks for your help..

• Performance of Serialized Objects in C++

  Hi Everyone, I'm wondering if there is a fast way to dump an STL set to disk and then read it back later. The internal structure of a set is a binary tree, so if I serialize it naively, when I read it back the program will have to go though the process of inserting each element again. I think this is slow even if it is read back in correct order, correct me if I am wrong. Is there a way to "dump" the memory containing the set into disk and then read it back later? That is, keep everything in binary format, thus avoiding the re-insertion. Do the boost serialization tools do this? Thanks! • 'Random' Orderby in webservice using LINQ To Entities

  Morning all Now I know there is a reason to this odering but my tiny little brain can't get my head around it. Where I would expect results of A B C D E F, it appears to be returning A C E B D F. Could someone point out the error in my ways please?

I used FileZilla as my FTP Client .. When I give the host name and the password, Port number as 21 and try to login it says.. Connection Timed Out.. and says.. Could Not Connect to server . • HABTM checking for match of latest 3

  Here's an interesting one for you folks... I have a HABTM (has_and_belongs_to_many) relationship between "Dogs" and "Trips". My goal is to find two result sets: 1) Dogs that have been on at least 1 of the last 3 trips and call that @dogs_current 2) Dogs that have NOT been on any of the last 3 trips and call that @dogs_old I found that I can find what the last 3 trips are by doing this in the Trip model: named_scope :last3, :order => 'date DESC', :limit => 3 But not sure how to use that list get 1 and 2. This hack works, but it seems ugly. There must be a better way! :) @dogs_current = [] @dogs_old = [] @dogs.each do |dog| if (Trip.last3 - dog.trips).size < 3 then @dogs_current << dog else @dogs_old << dog end end Any ideas? • SQL JOIN with two or more tables as output - most efficient way?

  I have an SQL query that executes a LEFT JOIN on another table, then outputs all results that could be coupled into a designated table. I then have a second SQL query that executes the LEFT JOIN again, then outputs the results that could not be coupled to a designated table. In code, this is something like: INSERT INTO coupledrecords SELECT b.col1, b.col2... s.col1, s.col2... FROM bigtable AS b LEFT JOIN smallertable AS s ON criterium WHERE s.col1 IS NOT NULL INSERT INTO notcoupledrecords SELECT b.col1, b.col2... bigtable AS b LEFT JOIN smallertable AS s ON criterium WHERE s.col1 IS NULL My question: I now have to execute the JOIN two times, in order to achieve what I want. I have a feeling that this is twice as slow as it could be. Is this true, and if yes, is there a way to do it more efficiently?

• height: auto does not work to automatically resize header

  I'm trying to do a simple thing in CSS I have a header tag and inside that a couple of h tags. So, in order to have a responsive design I do height:auto; inside the header tag, so it will automatically stretch to contain the h tags. Right? But does not work, headeris just a line in the top of the page. t should stretch to contain the titles, right? What am I missing? • Linux How to print all the files with the same prefix after searching for them?

  I need to search through a directory which contains many sub directories, each which contain files. The files read as follows question1234_01, where 1234 are random digits and the suffix _01 is the number of messages that contain the prefix, meaning they are apart of the same continuing thread. find . -name 'quest*' | cut -d_ -f1 | awk '{print $1}' | uniq -c | sort -n example output: 1 quest1234 10 quest1523 This searches for all the files then sorts them in order. What I want to do is print all the files which end up having the most occurrences, in my example the one with 10 matches. So it should only output quest1523_01 - 11

  Here is my current issue. I need to display a tree like structure displaying a recall roster. Our DBA created a stored procedure that returns [level],[name],[contact_info]. Example looks like: [1] [test name1] [contact info] [2] [sub to1] [contact info] [3] [sub to2] [contact info] [4] [sub to3] [contact info] [3] [sub to2] [contact info] [2] [sub to1] [contact info] etc... It's sorted in the order of the hierarchy I haven't really worked with XML much but is that the way to go in loading/presenting this data. Currently when I retrieving the data I'm returning it in a datatable. There may also be a need to export this data to Excel. Can anyone point me a good direction to go with this?

  Hi I am new to jQuery, and this is the page I'm currently developing. http://90.230.237.71/gandhi.html (Hope that works now :P) When I hit "Show/hide gallery" all the images are first opened vertically, and later they are corrected to their horizontal placement, that's the problem. They should be horizontal right away! I don't know if this is due to jQuerys slideDown or entirely CSS-related, but the code is all there for you. Initally, the images are set to display: none, perhaps they then are invisibly stored vertically. Then slideDown is performed and last, the CSS-attributes are changed to "display: inline". Perhaps I need to change execution order of slideDown and setting the CSS-attributes... but how? I NEED HELP... for many reasons, but I only want you to help me with this one ;) And also, please actually look at the code before making any assumptions. It's all there in the code.

• How to organize Windows Phone code base to target both 7.x and 8 platforms

  I took over a Windows Phone project which was previously targeting WP 7.1 platform, and with the recent announcement of the new platform it should target WP 8 as well. My VS 2010 solution consists on several projects (Data access, Model, Tests and WP7 client app) and i am wandering on how to include support for WP8. I have to note that the code-base is not compatible with WP8, due to usage of Toolkit controls and other 3rd party libraries targeted for WP7.1 specifically. Also there is another problem with the Visual Studio versions - WP7.1 can work with VS 2010, but WP8 requires VS 2012. Should i move the whole code-base to VS 2012? Any good advice on how to organize code-base in a most meaningful way in order to avoid duplication and possible painful maintenance? I am thinking between one solution - multiple projects vs. multiple solutions - reusable projects approach. Code duplication (like two separate folders/solutions) should be the least possible approach (fallback).

  I am reading a txt file for strings that represent integers. The file is space delimited. I have created an array[10,2]. Everytime the strings 1~10 is found in the file I increment array[n,0] by 1. I also feed array[n,1] with numbers 1~10. i.e. txt file contents: 1/1/1 10/1/2001 1 1 10 2 2 3 1 5 10 word word 3 3 etc.. streamreader reads 1/1/1 and determines that is is not 1~10 streamreader reads 10/1/2001 and determines that it is not 1~10 streamreader reads 1 and ++array[0,0] streamreader reads 1 and ++array[0,0] streamreader reads 10 and ++array[9,0] etc.. The result will be: '1' was found 3 times '2' was found 2 times '3' was found 3 times '5' was found 1 time '10' was found 2 times My problem is that I need this array placed in order(sorted) by value of column 0 so that it would be: 1 3 2 10 5

However, my only experience in Web Service development consists in having written a toy ASP.NET Web Service. All I had to do to expose a method was... Obviously, I will have to do everything by hand in my own framework. Thus, I would like to delve a bit more into the little details of how ordinary SOAP Web Services work, in order to replicate them. What are the main challenges I am going to find in my completely lunatic project?
