  • Windows 7 File shares randomly not accessible from OSx

    Hello Everyone!, My setup is I have a windows 7 computer acting as a file server. All my computers can connect to it fine including my mac. The problem is that randomly the mac will get kicked off the file share (even when i am in the middle of using it) and will not be allowed to reconnect to it until i reboot the windows 7 machine. (Rebooting the mac doesn't help) Does anyone know what could be causing this to happen?

  • Is there a real problem in this Retrospect duplicate of my hard drive?

    I recently duplicated my XP "C" drive, using Retrospect. When it finished, there were 6 errors. I checked the log and the 1st error referred to Microsoft Security Essentials\Support\Applications.etl: Appears incomplete. The other 5 errors referred to the Microsoft SQL Server.....\MSSQL\log_...trc: Appears incomplete. Is this a problem that can be solved by reinstalling Microsoft Security Essentials? Or wht else?   • Can you disable the light up buttons on the HP HDX series laptops?

    Im intrested in buying a laptop from the HP HDX series, but I have one concern. As you can see below, they have touch sensitive buttons above the keyboard which are lit up. I cant help but think how distracting they would be if you were watching a film on it. So does anyone know if its possible to turn these lights off? And to any owners of this laptop, do you find it distracting? Thanks

    Hello, I just found out by using TCPView that one of my svchost.exe had an http connection in "CLOSE_WAIT" to a strange ip address, although no other visible program was running. With the help of Process Explorer I discovered that this svchost was using the WebClient windows service. I'm wondering how I can figure out what program used WebClient to connect to this ip, in order to determine if it's malware.

    In Windows 7 I was connected wirelessly for about a week when one day I came home and the wireless was connected with a strong signal but it said that I had "No Internet Access" It's been 3 days since then now and I have yet to find a way to fix it.     My hosting environment using Server version: Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) and I am modifying ./usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf to set environment variable and restarting the server . SetEnv XML-RPC-IPs 193.45.32.21 I did set it as a first entry in the file and restarted the server .   • Dell 36400 Display issue - "doubling up" intermittently

    I've got a Dell E6400 It's suddenly developed an intermittent fault with the display Every now and again, it seems to boot up with "double vision" By that I mean, its split horizontally, with each half showing the same thing, but with low resolution, and looks grainy - if that makes sense (I will try to get a couple of pictures if I can) I haven't changed any hardware or anything. I have re-built windows, to see if that fixed the problem, it didn't. I've upgraded the BIOS to see if that would help, still same problem. I'm out of ideas :-(

  • How to record a "macro" that saves web pages as PDF in OSX

    I frequently save pages as PDF from Chrome on OSX. The page is apple-P then click the PDF button and the "Save as PDF.." menu item. I always use the pre-filled filename and save in the default directory. Is it possible to save this as an automator script? If that is possible I woulld sure like to add this as a button on Chrome somewhere so I can just "save this for reading later" Thanks for any help.
